Located on the upper level of concourse F, this European style restaurant is worth a stop if you have 60 minutes and $30 to kill. It's a refreshing change from the TGI Fridays on every concourse in the country. Ecco has a full bar, and a good beer & wine list, but it's all about the food. They claim Spanish, Italian, and French influences. After sampling the cuisine, I'd say they fuse the three marvelously. I made a meal out of two appetizers, the fried goat cheese, and the lamb manti. The goat cheese was battered, deep fried, and bathed in honey and cracked pepper. Simple, but rich and delicious. The lamb manti (think potstickers) was more complex, but equally delicious. The pan fried dumplings were stuffed with dark, rich shredded lamb meat, and topped with a tangy mint cream sauce and toasted walnuts. Yum! My only gripe was that the bread and butter was served cold. 15 seconds in the microwave goes a long way toward 5-star perception. There is seating at the bar for sports watching, in the court for people watching, or in the dining area for seclusion. Service is good, but watch out for the 18% auto-gratuity. It's been a while since I visited this place..and the menu was very different this time (January 2019). My favorite calamari appetizer was gone! So I opted for sauteed spicy green beans (about $7.5) and mussels with potato, fennel, and lemon (about $13). Service: The server was friendly, but I got the bread and butter (complimentary) and the 2 dishes I ordered all at the same time. Slow and not very attentive. Food: the green beans had good, garlicky and spicy flavor, but the beans were overcooked and almost mushy. I don't know if that is what that dish is supposed to be like , but for me it was overcooked. Mussels with potato dish was fine, although I'm not sure if I'll order it again. Finally. Destination dining at Hartsfield-Jackson airport in Atlanta. Full disclosure: I live in midtown Atlanta and Ecco is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. So I had high expectations based on my previous experiences with Ecco and Fifth Group restaurants. Thankfully, the airport location delivered on all accounts. We sat at the bar, thinking we had about 90 minutes before we needed to be at our gate due to a flight delay. Service was prompt, professional, and attentive. I opted for the Lemonade Provencal, a light and refreshing cocktail, mixed expertly of course. Paired with a side of the olives and a meat and cheese platter, it was my idea of the perfect pre-flight lunch. Although I do wish the mix of prosciutto and finocchiona was more evenly split. Way too little of that delicious prosciutto. Details. My husband enjoyed a plate of beautifully cooked and crispy pommes frites, while I looked on in envy. (I have Celiac disease, and even though potatoes are inherently gluten free, if they are fried in the same oil as the breaded items, I get sick. Bummer. But Ecco has plenty of GF options, even at the airport location.) In the middle of our relaxing and quite enjoyable lunch at the airport, I suddenly got an alert from Delta. Our flight was no longer delayed! Which should have been great news, but instead put us in near-panic mode, as we had to settle our tab and make it from Concourse F to Concourse A in about fifteen minutes. Thankfully, the staff at Ecco aims to please, and they quickly provided the check along with takeout containers. We made the flight with time to spare. They couldn't serve the wine until 12:30pm local time which I thought was kind of weird for an airport. The panini had a nice taste and paired pretty well with the wine. It's pretty good food for airport food, but it's still expensive airport food. If I come here next time, I'll just stick to the wine and maybe some appetizers. Service: Not sure that I liked the sneaky upgrade from potato chips to french fries for a couple of dollars extra. Not a big deal, but at least let the customer know that it'll be extra. There weren't many patrons during peak lunch hour and yet the service was a bit slow. That was fine with me since I had to wait for my flight. Ecco is located at terminal F upstairs across from starbucks. The ambiance is very relaxing and the service was great. I had fried goat cheese, and it is a must. Another menu I had was squid ink linguine. If you like seafood and spicy, it would be a great dish for you. I wish the paste was more Al dente, as it was bit overcooked but still very interesting. Really sad. No where close to the experience expected based off the Midtown location. We were not greeted, we thought the place was closed. A lot of lightning was out. The bar shelving was 1/8 stocked and looked desolate. Not clean. The pappardelle pasta was like sloppy Joe canned mix dumped onto a reclaimed egg noodle. Again, not like the expected recipe from the midtown location. Various rectangular trash cans were visible and the bar lighting including the bar lamps had light bulbs blown out. This Ecco on Concourse F is awesome! A friend of mine comes through the airport around the same time as me often and we meet for lunch or dinner. Pops usually takes care of us at the bar and the food is always pretty awesome every time. Take note online, google, Yelp, and their website claim to open at 10:00am but you won't be able to get in and sit down until 10:30. Just a heads up if you're in an airport rush. I have ordered the garlic shrimp (yum) and the ever delicious cabbage steak-- best. favorite. Ever! (Sad it's not on the menu anymore!) we also loved the lamb manti, little ground lamb dumplings in a rich red sauce with a light powerful Greek yogurt to cut through the richness and some seeds for crunch. We sought out Ecco because 'Eater' listed it as a notch above the rest for hungry travelers passing through Hartsfield. Travelers should save their money and head someplace else. Our experience was a total disappointment; cocktails were just ok, the pasta was mediocre and our grilled romaine salads tasted like they were grilled hours before our arrival, only to be drenched in a bland, tasteless, watered down dressing. I finally had to just call out to her bc it didnt seem like she was going to notice me otherwise. Where do I begin?! What a wonderful dining experience. The manager Ebi and server Joshua were extremely courteous and recommended some really tasty selections from the menu. Philip the waiter was very rude. My husband and I were sitting at a table waiting for service. None ever came, so my husband walked up to the bar and got us a drink. Philip finally came around and was pissed. He didn't like the fact we already had a drink, therefore, he proceeded to tell us to go sit at the bar. He refused to provide food service. I requested the manager named Martin. He immediately sat us at another table and apologized for the rude waiter Philip. Martin understands good customer service, however, most of the wait staff do not. Then to add salt to the wound, our check came and it automatically included an 18% tip. Five stars is not near enough for Ecco... six stars wouldn't even be enough. Ladies and gentlemen, I have officially found the best airport restaurant to ever be in existence. Hell, it would even be a great restaurant outside of the airport. I'm pretty in love if you couldn't tell. I flew from St. Louis to Atlanta and had a three hour layover before flying to Rio, and I wanted to relax somewhere with a glass of wine and a nice dinner. I saw Ecco when I walked into the international terminal (which is also stunning by the way), and made my way upstairs. The host was very friendly, and I asked him if there was any way I could sit by a power outlet (I'm sure I'm the only traveler to ever ask him this question.) He was very kind and told me it would just be a short wait. A few minutes later I made my way to a corner table, and had a good amount of space along with (score!) two power outlets. There's nothing like a charged iPhone with your glass of wine while you're on a long trip. My server was really wonderful and attentive, and I had a glass of wine in front of me right away. I was so happy to sit and enjoy the atmosphere -- this place is dark, sultry, relaxing, and romantic. The menu has so many great options, so I took my time looking. My heart really wanted the cured meats & cheeses, and the prices are reasonable: one for 4.75, three for 14, five for 22. Not bad! I ended up ordering the steak frites which didn't disappoint one bit. I was so sad when my dinner here was over but didn't want to take up table space for too long. I'm not sure the next time I'll be flying internationally through Atlanta again, but when I do, I'll be first in line for dinner at Ecco. read more

I have eaten at most of the restaurants in the Atlanta airport, and Ecco is definitely tied for my favorite (along with Chicken + Beer). Yes, it is upscale, but the food is worth the price. Most recently, I had the Fried Goat Cheese with Honey and Squid Ink Linguine. The goat cheese was heavenly, and the linguine was absolutely fantastic for any restaurant - let alone an airport restaurant. If I have the time, I always try to hoof it to the international terminal and eat at Ecco, unless I am in the mood for Southern food (then I go to Chicken + Beer). For me, there are no other options that I consider anymore at the Atlanta Airport, because these places are clearly a step above any other airport regarding food quality. My friend and I schlepped all. the. way. over. to the international terminal after perusing the One Flew South menu and my vegetarian friend being less than thrilled. Luckily, we made the nearly 20 minute walk from C to F terminal. Because Ecco was awesome. Firstly, service. Some of the best service I've had this year, and without a doubt, the best service I've ever had in an airport. Our server was bubbly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. She told me she had recently been assigned a powerpoint project over the bar's Cruvinet(?) wine dispensing system. My boo also ordered some (very strong) delightfully bitter mixed drink from their revolving cocktail menu. It was unexpected and impressive. It'll be a hard choice for you to choose from libations or their expertly curated wine menu. I went with a crisp white wine I'd had before and prepared for lift off. Other yelpers (and a food blogger from Serious Eats) had said their fried goat cheese was worth the trek alone, and far be it from me to spit in the face of my (Yelpie, Foodie) ancestors. My bud and I pulled the trigger on those, while he ordered a wood-fired pizza and I ordered the mussels. The goat cheese was thoroughly mind-blowing and I could barely speak when I ate them. They were drenched in (orange-blossom?) honey and black pepper and were sheer, simple, perfection. Bonus? They were perfect with my wine. The other food was good as well, though I could probably have eaten myself to death on the goat cheese and risen happily to Valhalla.
