Fred is the worst…read more For years, we had a pretty sweet setup. Easy access to the attic, plenty of room to hang out, and apparently nobody could figure out how we were getting in. Other pest control companies came and went. They inspected. They made recommendations. They quoted thousands of dollars to "fortify" the house. We weren't worried. Then Fred showed up. First, he walked around the house and immediately spotted three openings in the crawlspace vents. He even offered to patch them--but instead told the homeowner to call the electrician who had made the holes in the first place and see if they'd fix them. They did. For free. Annoying. Then Fred climbed into the attic. This is where things really went downhill for us. He found a pipe completely broken at a 90-degree joint and noticed all the grease marks we'd left on the wood underneath it. Apparently Fred had seen this exact thing before and knew what it meant: We were coming up through the sewer. Seriously, Fred? One call to the plumber, the pipe gets fixed, and suddenly our private entrance to the attic is gone. So, from the rats of this household: do not call Fred. He's thorough. He's honest. He doesn't try to sell homeowners a bunch of expensive work they don't need. He communicates quickly, knows exactly what to look for, and--most offensively--actually figures out how we're getting into your house. We had a good thing going. Fred ruined it.
