We just had a new central air-conditioning unit installed by Econo Air and it was a terrific experience. The owner, Chris, is very straightforward, personable, and easy to deal with. He sold and installed a new Trane unit, and did so at considerably less cost than any of the other contractors we interviewed. He and his crew arrived promptly on the day they said they would, and got the job done on schedule. Chris and his crew were all very courteous and professional throughout the workday. Additionally, they were very neat and respectful of our property. In fact, not only did they clean up after themselves, they found debris in the attic from a prior contractor, and without being asked, they hauled it all out of the attic, cut it up, and placed it on the street for our garbage pick up. I highly recommend Econo Air Conditioning & Heating to anyone looking for HVAC servicing! I don't write reviews often, but Econo Air has impressed me so much that I felt compelled to write this. Some background: I bought an old home in 2022 and have had issues with the AC not working reliably since the start - randomly stopping, drain pan filling up with water, etc. Before Econo Air, I've had 3 HVAC technicians from different companies inspect my AC setup. All of them were able to identify that the air handler in the attic was not installed very well, but none of them gave me much confidence that they fixed my problem(spoiler: they didn't). This year, my living room ceiling started to leak water...once again I had to try to find an HVAC company that I can count on without leaving me feeling like I've been ripped off. I called about 5 different companies, and most of them gave me the response I've come to expect - no/vague/unreasonable cost estimates and not being super helpful otherwise. The only exception was Econo Air. I spoke with Angela who was extremely knowledgeable and empathetic. She made me feel valued as a human being, not just another source of revenue. She took the time to understand my issue, provided fair and transparent pricing, and gave me advice on things I can do in the meantime. I really cannot overstate how awesome Angela is! It was really refreshing for a change, and I wish all companies were like this. I decided to give Econo Air a shot, and I'm so glad I did! They sent Ricardo who's very polite, funny and knowledgeable. He found out that my condensate drain line was not installed well and ended up decoupling, causing the water to pool in my ceiling instead of flowing outside. Ricardo fixed this, but upon checking a week later I found that my drain pan was still full of water. I reported this to Econo Air and to their credit, they sent Ricardo over again that same day, free of charge. It turns out that my p-trap was also improperly installed, which Ricardo missed the first time. He fixed the p-trap and it's been a day since then. My AC finally appears to be working properly and there's no more water issues. Even though they did not fully fix the issue on the first visit, how Econo Air handled this situation shows me that they really stand behind their work and care about their customers. I know plenty of companies who would have charged me again on the second visit "because reasons". I truly feel like I have found a gem in Econo Air amongst a sea of mediocre HVAC companies. Needless to say, I will be contacting them in the future for all of my HVAC needs. read more

I want to give a huge shotout to Chris & Crew from Econo Air Conditioning & Heating. I shopped around for multiple quotes on a full central air conditioning install on a CAPE style home. Many suggested mini split units upstairs (which I did not want) but they were pushing it on me making it seem like I had no choice. I believe that's because it's a tough job that no one really wanted to do. I got a few quotes and the prices were astronomical. Finally, I was recommended Chris from ECONO Air by a friend. I cannot speak highly enough of Chris, and his entire company. They did a great, new complete A/C installation, soup to nuts; clean, properly done, proper sizing, about 5 years ago, at a literal 40% savings compared to a local "name" company. Yep, $10k+++ estimate from a competitor, became $6k all-in, EVERYTHING new, for absolutely equivalent equipment. No games, no "extras", and no being taken advantage of. Just a good, decent, nice, talented guy, with fair prices and high-quality workers, whom are also very nice people. Fast forward 5 years, my roofer put a nail in the coolant line on the hottest week of the year. Chris to the rescue, on a hot, humid, long, holiday weekend, which I'm sure he'd have probably preferred to have enjoyed with his family, but instead, he felt for us, and took care of everything (and right, the first time!). He could have made a killing on us, but he cut us a big-time break, and probably barely profited from helping us out of a huge jam. I can't imagine why anyone would use any other company. Not only did they do an amazing job of our install but the design and the sizing of the unit was absolutely perfect. As Chris says, our problem in Long Island is humidity not heat so for that you need a slightly undersized unit so that it chills the air slowly enough to remove the moisture. They were the fourth contractor we tried and the only one to point this out. All the others were just interested in selling us their highest priced unit. That would explain why Econo Air's price was half that of any of the others. read more

Right from the start (when I spoke to Angela in their office), I knew that Econoaire was the company to use when I had to replace my central air conditioning unit. Chris, the owner, was a true gentleman and as good as his word with everything he said they would do. He not only gave me a quote that was one of the lowest I received, but also told me what I needed, and what to look out for, even if I didn't go with him. The day of the installation, Andrew arrived early and got to work right away. An hour later, which was their starting time, the rest of the crew showed up and everyone began their tasks. The work they did was meticulous, with tarps on all the floors and even on the furniture in the room where the attic stairway was. As a matter of fact, when they finished installing the air handler in my attic, the attic was cleaner than it ever was. About four hours after they arrived, my ac was installed, I was shown what they had done and how everything worked, the old unit was put in their truck and I had my new ac up and running! That was on a Friday and Chris called me up the next work day to make sure that everything was good and ask if I had any questions. I wish every company was such a pleasure to deal with. I initially got what I thought was a great deal from Chris, but after a couple of years, the whole system started having problems and every season, just more and more problems. After 5 years, this guy tells me to put in another system! Sure, every 5 years, I'll just install yet another central AC system. This guy is the biggest crook in two shoes. He makes you think you're getting the deal of a lifetime, but he installs the product with issues right from the get-go. DO NOT TRUST THIS GUY. He's one of the biggest shysters I've ever seen. And, when the system breaks down, good luck getting ahold of him! Do yourself a favor, even if it does cost a few more bucks, go with another AC contractor. This guy is the worst and in the long run, you'll pay out way more than you would've if you spent a bit more on the upfront installation. read more

This review is specifically about Angela, and the single greatest customer service interaction I've ever experienced. I live too far away from Econo Air for it to make sense for my wife and I to use them as our service, but Angela made sure I was informed about everything I needed to know about my unit and what to look out for from other providers. As a first time home owner, this knowledge is worth more than anything else they could have offered me. She was polite, knowledgeable, kind, and even offered pity laughter at my jokes when I expressed how sad I was when I couldn't use them. I purchased a system from Chris and have had nothing but problems with it. Most recently my unit broke down during a heatwave, and Chris offered no help whatsoever. This company is not reliable, and when Chris shows up, he'll spend 5 minutes and not explain what's going on with the central air system. He doesn't return calls either. I had to call in other technicians and it was found out that the install was a botched job and the unit was the wrong one for my home.
