I'm gonna share these thoughts in no particular order. The hotel is incredibly dog friendly. That really stuck out. They're human friendly as well, but they are especially dog friendly. My impression of the hotel is that the Kimpton brand is so incredibly good at bringing outdated into today and still keeping the classic or historic elements in place. You can see that here through some of the photos I shared. Feel free to grab a bike or a scooter from the front and take a ride around town or around the property. If you brought your dog, grab a stick from the dog stick library and if you need to sit down and have a drink, every evening at five there's a Social hour where you can meet your neighbors and play some checkers over a glass of complementary wine or beer. There's usually some sort of snack involved and plenty of activities inside or out. The entire staff is friendly and genuinely helpful. It might be an act, but it looks like they enjoyed being there. I would highly recommend staying here if you're in the area. Here's a couple more notes. They have activities from bocce ball to a swimming pool, and the library is full of activities for people of all ages. Don't forget to grab a complementary cup of coffee in the morning on your way out for the day. The property and the rooms were always clean and the AC works like a charm.

It is a very dog friendly property, so if you aren't thrilled to see a dog in your hotel I'd stay somewhere else. We also booked as part of a sale on Travel Zoo and got the rooms for a great price. Manchester is well located to restaurants and outlet shopping. We also drove to see some cute towns and sites nearby. I would totally stay here again.

I just wish we could give the Barnstead Inn 6 stars!!!…read more My husband and I stayed for a weekend while we were in town for a wedding. The Inn consists of a historical home built in 1830 and 2 outbuildings- one with guest rooms the other serving as the office, serving/common area and lounge, they also have a little gift area and local recommendations for restaurants and activities posted. We were greeted warmly and all the amenities of the inn were clearly explained. The room was great - renovated and decorated beautifully. The rustic charm and thoughtful designer touches created a really relaxing and cozy space. The room was spotless with comfortable bedding, large oversized shower, and good lighting that helped to make the space perfect. The grounds have a pool (closed due to the season), several gas fire-pit conversation areas, a brick oven pizza restaurant and a pond. They serve breakfast daily and had snacks/coffee/tea/etc available all day. The lounge is well stocked with some great whiskey and they had seasonal drink specials. Our absolutely favorite part of the stay however was meeting and getting to know the inn keepers, Andrea and Pete and family. What started as a quick stop for a drink before turning in, became an evening of stories, laughs and new friends. We simply can not recommend Barnstead Inn enough.....if you choose not to stay here next time you're in Manchester it is your loss!

There was a fire each night in the fire pit; we were greeted by both Lucky and King during our stay; the breakfast was wonderful; and you are within blocks (walking distance) of the quaint little Manchester Village Center with cute shops. The Inn features amazing mountain views and huge romantic garden grounds to explore. Sunsets on the estate's large wraparound porch were breathtaking. Our room featured a four-poster king bed, lovely period antiques, a fireplace, and a breathtaking view. The gracious, welcoming ambiance made us feel we had traveled back in time. Family members who own the estate are on site to manage visitors' experience from start to finish. Melissa ensured every aspect of our time at the Inn was magical. She shared all the special things to do in Manchester, fine dining, historical areas, shopping, and hiking. By the time we departed, we wished we had booked a longer stay. We will certainly return soon! It was delightful to find a family-run estate that delivered on its promise of excellence and even exceeded our expectations. Carolyn E

Great experience! Very eclectic, unconventional. Breathtaking mountain views…read more My family rented two vacation houses at the Wilburton for our large extended family of 25 -- I knew very little about the property before we arrived, so we were taken aback by the sprawling turn-of-the-century mansion and spectacular mountain views as we drove up the driveway. We absolutely never expected the art installations across the grounds -- including 18 x 26-foot Egyptian statues! The art and decor were eclectic and unexpected, and I found them very intriguing. It's definitely not your traditional resort, but that's what we liked about it. And the statues made for an amazing night with smores by the fire pit! The Reunion House was spacious -- we particularly enjoyed the living room, as it gave us enough room to comfortably host the other half of our family (about 25 of us) for a casual birthday party. There was plenty of seating with cozy leather sectionals and two large dining tables that seated about 8-10 people each. My daughter loved playing the piano in the living room, and the rooms downstairs with the daybeds were a great place for the kids to hang out and watch TV together. (The galley kitchen is a little small, but we were aware of this ahead of time because it was mentioned on their website.) We were there during a massive heat wave and all the air conditioners worked very well and kept us cool. Our kids loved the volley ball/badminton area steps away from our house. The outdoor pool is beautiful and it was so wonderful to be able to gather there easily with our whole family. The innkeepers were friendly and helpful. And we enjoyed looking around the mansion as well. There was so much do to in nearby Manchester -- great restaurants and shops, the bookstore is fantastic. We also enjoyed the ropes course and alpine slide at Bromley Mountain. We can't wait to return next year -- we'll be staying at one of the other properties even closer to my extended family's rental house and I'm so excited for its private balconies, jacuzzi tubs, and even more beautiful mountain views!
