Hello ladies and gentlemen, I have been a customer of Econo temp for over 15 years. I recently had a Econo temp come to my home for the AC unit that was not working. I received a call from Econo temp dispatch that my technician Tavares was 15 minutes away. When Tavares arrived at my door he was in full PPE gear. Personal Protection Equipment, Mask, gloves, and shoe covers. When I answered the door Tavares professionally said his name, and company name of Econo temp. Tavares quickly setup his diagnostic equipment after I showed him where the thermostat, furnace room, and AC unit was located. Tavares ran diagnostic test on furnace panel and found a blown fuse. Tavares explain to my wife and I that there was a blown fuse, and he needed to return to his shop to pick up more equipment to fix the problem. After approximately 15 minutes Tavares returned and conducted diagnostic Tests on the furnace, and AC unit. The units were okay. Tavaris then did diagnostic testing on wiring between furnace, and AC unit and found a shorted wire. Tavares traced wire through the Attic, and changed out shorted wire. Tavares started up AC unit with thermostat, and continue to do diagnostic testing on AC unit while running to ensure no coolant was needed. Tavares cleaned up work area, and then gave us step-by-step explanation of what he did to fix the AC unit. I truly appreciate the professionalism that Tavares showed my wife and, I throughout his day service. Also the explanation of step by step procedure in what he did. I can honesty say that Econotemp exceeds my expectations. We had an issue with our old furnace leaking water. It was early in the day and I started to make calls to few places to see if someone can come and all these places were either outrageously expensive just for someone to show up (no work/just "to look at the issue") or for some reason they all told me that my call was an "emergency call" as no technician would not come to our house until after 5pm which is then considered "Emergency Services" yet I was making calls at 11 AM in the morning! I then called Econotemp and talked to Tina. I told Tina our furnace issue and right away she said they could send someone within 30 minutes to my house and to my surprise, Bill was at my door in 30 minutes! Bill was very professional and went right to work. He looked at our furnace and told me that the issue was the furnace tube being clogged up and not being able to push the water to the sump pump which resulting in the water to leak out of the furnace onto the basement floor. Bill cleaned up the tube, tested it several times to make sure it was working. Few days later, we have no water in our basement and the Furnace is running like a champ! Try to find anything for your furnace at a home center, you won't, i've tried. Good luck finding an ignitor on a sunday morning in the dead of winter. This place has been there for ever 20 years. Funny thing, I drive by it all the time with the big sign and it still didn't register. What a great resource for regular homeowners who want to save a few hundred per visit over having a service call. The owners are there and happy to see you when you arrive. It's as if they want to help you! Wow. I got an igniter on a sunday at 11am in the middle of winter. Turns out I had the wrong one for the last 12 years. I didn't know what make my furnace was, the owner asked me half a dozen questions and sent off with te correct one which I replaced myself and saved hundreds. I was happy and believe it or not they were too, to help me, not rape me on a service call. This summer I brought my 20 year old Aprilairre in and they diagnoised the problem right there, sold me a 35 dollar power converter and sent me on my way. I fixed my own humidifier with their help and saved 400 dollars. They even told me not to buy a new one! What a refreshing change of pace from the typical service company. What a find, glad i know about these people!!!! read more

Our air conditioner was not working and we thought it was our motor which is a $200 part that needed to be replaced. After speaking with Andrew at Econotemp he provided a price for the motor but went out of his way to ask questions over the phone and told me he though the motor was not our problem but thought it might be our capacitor. We brought in both like Andrew suggested and he tested them both for free and as it turns out he was right our motor was good and the capacitor was bad and it only cost us $25.00. He could of easily just sold us the motor and sent us on our way. Instead he went out of his way to take it upon his self to ask all of the correct questions and help us out tremendously. I would recommend Econotemp to anyone looking for an honest and friendly company to do business with. They were not out for the money but Andrew / Econotemp were out to HELP us. I have a Kenmore dryer that was not heating any longer and called Sears for some replacement parts. I had asked Sears to see if I could use their ohmmeter to check my parts for continuity and was told they do not have any on hand. I contacted Econotemp and they told me to bring the parts in and they will test prior to me puchasing any replacement parts. The parts we thought were the issue were not faulty and I was instructed by Econotemp that I needed to replace my heat limit switch which cost me a whopping $13. I returned home to replace the heat limit switch and everything worked just like Econtemp said it would. If I would have gone to Sears I would have not only paid for parts I did not need plus I would've had to drive to Aurora to pick them up. Econotemp saved me quite a bit of money and time. On Saturday night (8/13/2011), my outdoor A/C unit would not kick on - the next day, I removed its electrical panel and found a burned contactor assembly. I went to Home Depot to see if I could find one, but no dice. The electrical associate at HD referred me to EconoTemp, as he claimed that they were open until 2pm on Sunday. Long story short, I called EconoTemp and the ower was there on a Sunday! He had the part I needed sitting on the shelf, and moreover, he was extremely helpful. This guy saved my butt! One contactor ($44) and a 24v transformer ($13) later and my A/C was back up and running. The average HVAC Sunday service call is around $150, not including parts. Two thumbs up to this guy - who cares if his parts cost a few bucks more than ordering online - he had what I needed ON A SUNDAY!!! read more

I originally found Econotemp years ago when I needed parts for my air conditioner. I was doing a (bad) DIY job of replacing my AC condenser's fan motor. The owner not only sold me the part but he personally helped me swap the fan blades over to the new motor right in the shop. It's rare when you find customer service that good. Since that day years ago, I've had them out for service calls a number of times. While the parts store isn't open anymore, the HVAC service calls have always been excellent. It's clear that the technicians really know their craft. Additionally, I've recommended them to others that live in Bolingbrook and the feedback from friends has been nothing but positive. Could not of asked for a better experience with this company. All employees from Tavares to our new HVAC installers Bill and Bruce were great. Process was easy, smooth, and straight forward. Also appreciate how they are up on the technology. Email appointment notices, reminders, and notification when they are on the way. Heck you can even track them via GPS. After getting our new system installed I was a little paranoid (based on the money I spent) that something was wrong with it. The office called me back right way and had someone at my house the following morning. Turned out it was nothing just me being paranoid. I appreciate that this company even after you are done still jump through hoops to make sure you are a satisfied customer. read more

I have a air conditioner that is from 1988. I had a service tech over to look at it and he told me that it would be hard to find the fan motor because it was so old. I searched online for five hours and I was getting frustrated because it was out there but they are asking alot of money. I came across a local link to Econotemp, Inc and it said it right there on the web page, DO IT YOURSELF PARTS AND SERVICE. I am a handyman but I do not feel comfortable with electricity. Not only did they save me three hundred dollors but they helped me through everything and answered all my questions AT NO CHARGE. These guys are Great! Steve and Andrew helped me find the right motor and relay board (on a Sunday) and gave me the basics on how to install everything, they were even willing to talk to me on the phone when I had questions on some of the wiring even after they officially closed! There prices are fair too. This is the kind of service that you do not see a lot of these days and I'm grateful that I found them. My family and I are nice and warm now, and doing this job myself (with help from them) saved me 1,000 dollars compared to the HVAC company that quoted me for my repairs. read more

Excellent people make an excellent company! I have always been impressed with their real concern for the customer, almost to the exception of making money. They have provided information that have allowed me to do my own repairs and they almost always have the parts that I'm looking for. I had a motor go out on my furnace on New Years Evening and we woke up to a cold house on a 5 degree day. I've been going here for 20+ years. From the dog at the door to great you to the pleasant staff behind the counter, each visit is wonderful experience. No matter what I need, they can do it. Steve has walked me through several repairs on the phone, saved me lots of money on service calls. It's always the best when a Professional Technician responds to the service call. Jason, really knows his stuff. He was the original installer of my Rheem Water Heater and did a great job then. Now it was a minor, overflow valve on the Water Heater. But he did the job fast and efficiently. He also did a thourough and fast, printed out estimate, for a new Heating/Air/Humidifier. I've NEVER seen a business that treats do-it-yourselfers with as much respect. I've bought three furnaces, an a/c coil and condenser, a humidifier, duct work, and multiple parts, and they've stepped me though my difficulties with the attitude of a college professor. Steve wants to understand the problem, and is clear and precise with an explanation of the solution, along with diagrams if necessary. I was able to schedule for same-day service when my furnace was not working. Tavares (the technician) showed up with mask and wore foot protection-- to keep my carpets clean. After diagnosing the problem, he needed to go and pick up the part, but he returned quickly and fixed it. He was willing to answer all of my questions and explain the problem. Fair pricing. Love Econotemp. My central air was not working properly and I had a coupon for Four Seasons so I called them for service. The Four Seasons guy said I needed a new A/C. The unit was only eight years old so I told him thanks but NO. Had Econotemp out the next day and the guy said it had to much refrigerant. The technician was very courteous, professional, and honest. He checked the issues we were concerned about which was a rattling noise and he found the problem fixed it and he made sure it would not happen again.
