Orkin Pest Control has been the most frustrating, unprofessional, and unresponsive company I've ever dealt with. We've been paying for monthly service, yet the pest problems continue and the service we're supposed to be getting simply doesn't happen. From the start, things were a mess. When we first set up our account, they sent a technician out for an initial visit. He showed up, greeted us with "What's good?" and immediately came off as unprofessional. We explained we wanted a general inspection around the home and some preventative treatment for insects. He flat-out refused and said they don't do that. I asked, "Then what are you here for?" and he sarcastically pointed at a cobweb and said, "Oh, I see one there." At that point, I asked him to leave because he clearly wasn't taking the job seriously and was acting like an entitled fool. I called to complain, and a manager sent out a different technician and this one was more respectful and gave us his personal business card, saying we could call him directly anytime we had issues. But when we actually did call him, he blew us off and told us there was nothing he could do, and to call the office. Of course, the office doesn't answer or return voicemails. Trying to get a same-day appointment which Orkin advertises as something they offer was a complete joke. I was passed from one customer service rep to another in what felt like a game of musical chairs. Each one would type my info into a system and say someone would call me back. Nobody ever did. To make it worse, one of their main numbers has a recorded message saying, "If this is an emergency, call this number." I called that number, and the person who answered said there's no such thing as an emergency line. So why are you telling customers otherwise? Then, a rodent got caught in one of the traps they placed, and when I called to have someone come remove it, I was told they don't offer that service. So I'm paying for pest control, but I'm expected to deal with the pests myself? On top of all that, they double charged me for a service, and the first rep I spoke to tried to brush it off like it wasn't a big deal. I had to demand a refund before anyone actually did anything about it. That's unacceptable. This company is completely disorganized. The technicians are unreliable, the customer service is useless, and the communication is non-existent. They're happy to take your money every month, but when it comes to actually doing their job, they vanish. Orkin is not worth your time or your money. Save yourself the frustration and go with a company that actually cares about its customers and stands by its service.

I had to wait 5 minutes to finally speak to a REAL person, that was a bit of an issue but not my complaint. The woman who took my info transferred me to another employee. His name was Matt. More than 24 hours and still nothing. Very upsetting no response. And he reviewed the phone number to call, it was correct. I'm guessing this company doesn't need the business!!

Since then, we have the annual termite inspection contract with "Cavanaugh Termite and Pest Service". Cavanaugh has been displaying its utmost professional standard since 2005 until this year (2020). Our annual termite contract expires on May 31 every year. Cavanaugh sends out the contract renewal two months prior to the expiration date. We always schedule the termite inspection on the last Saturday of May for the 8~12pm appointment immediately receiving the renewal notice. The inspection time lasts about 20 minutes. The inspector walks down to the basement and checks the house perimeter, then check out the garage and outside of the house perimeter. Once the examination is done, the inspector writes done "No termite activities found on the house" on a company's worksheet and accepts payment on the spot, then gives us back the worksheet with the payment paid-in-full receipt. Every year has been the same routine without fail until this year. A series of mistakes made by Cavanaugh's internal problems from the appointment to the final billing greatly inconvenienced us and caused us the loss of precious time solving their mistakes are one thing; Cavanaugh's staff lacking professionalism manner to resolve their own mistake is unforgivable. Here is the detail: We scheduled the inspection appointment as usual on the last Saturday of May, between 8~12PM. Due to the coronavirus, we called Cavanaugh two weeks prior to the inspection date to make sure the inspection would still be on. And then two days prior to the inspection, we called them again to make sure that the inspector who is coming will be wearing a mask and shoe covers before entering into the house, and the appointment time is also confirmed during that phone call. On the inspection day, we waited for the whole morning until 12 pm. We called Cavanaugh to find out why was no one showed up? Mr. Tiff answered the phone and apologized to us that there was no indication that we were scheduled on that date. He immediately called East Brunswick division and scheduled to send an inspector over no later than 1:45 pm. No one called nor came until 2:38 pm. The inspection lasted until 2:55 pm. Due to CoVid-19, there was no paperwork to write and show that "no termite's activities were found from inspecting interior and exterior of the premise" nor did we get a pay-in-full receipt after we gave the inspector our credit card information to input to his iPad. He said that he would send that worksheet and payment receipt to my email address. So he left without giving us any evidence of the inspection. Four days later, on June 3, we were still waiting for the worksheet with our payment receipt. I called Cavanaugh and spoke with Kristen to find out where was the email that shows our inspection worksheet and payment receipt. She immediately sent over a totally BLANK invoice (without company printed logos) with nothing on it except some strange numbers showing "termite inspection charge" $0.00, tax $6.82, payment & credit $0.00, and total due is $6.82" Not a word about the termite inspection conclusion nor our paid-in-full payment receipt. I emailed her "The receipt you sent still didn't show the correct payment amount nor did it show "No termite was found at the property" detail. Please resend a rectified version!" We went back and force with email replies and went nowhere because she kept replying to me: "The contract is now expired so I cannot state that it has been paid for." And totally ignored what I repeatedly stated in my email clearly "The current display figures in the invoice do not make sense on an invoice. I believe the right amount of dollars figures to be displayed as "termite inspection charge" $103.00, tax $6.82, payment & credit $109.82, and the total due is $0.00. Your invoice does not make any sense nor does it display that I had paid in full of the charge of $109.82." Finally, I had to pick up the phone and talk to her in person. As soon as she knew it was me, she gave out a loud, impatient "Uh" then said, "What can I help you?" I asked her to just send me a paid-in-full receipt to which she had been refused to do and did not tell me the reason in all her emails except "The contract is now expired so I cannot state that it has been paid for". I realized that she assumed we didn't pay for the $109.82 inspection fee. I said, "How could we not pay for the inspection at the end of the service?" She mumbled something like "you don't need to pay when service is done..." that statement greatly confused me, but I had to stop wasting my time to figure out what she was saying or doing in all these. I simply asked her to just send me a payment receipt and I am still waiting for my receipt with a worksheet detail on a proper company logos stationary.

Turns out this is a "window" of when he might show up. He didn't arrive until 11:45. I wasted a day off and almost two hours of my morning when I could have been running errands waiting for him to show. When he did arrive, he probably spent a total of 2 minutes in my apartment setting some poison traps down and asking if I wanted him to spray, which he remarked is mainly for bugs. I'm not sure why because my landlord didn't mention bugs as the problem when he called. The "exterminator" did ask if my attic had a pull down stair. It did not, so he didn't bother going up there. The absolute worst part of all is when all was said and done, he tried to collect a check for $314. I assured him that the service was paid for in full, and confirmed it beforehand with my landlord. Additionally, their sales rep said as much when I made the appointment with them. He said he'd go back to his truck and make a call, but if there were any problems he would come back up. I almost said, "Good luck getting me to open the door, because this was paid for." As he left, I sent a text to my landlord, and he again confirmed that they already charged his credit card for the service. I won't go so far as to say he was trying to take me for the money in the hopes I would never contact my landlord, but I wonder what else this company has gotten away with or accidentally have done considering the other reviews.

I looked up his phone number and came across this website. The technician spoke in a rude and dismissive way, to my 10-year-old daughter when she was telling him simply " there is a bee upstairs flying around and my mommy is going to kill it " his response to my daughter was " ok I do not need to know that which I found completely unacceptable. Than " proceeded to walk pass her didn't attempt to kill the bee or pick up the dead ones in my home. He also told me that the bees are not coming through the vents when I told him that my children and I have seen them coming out of the vents and my upstairs and downstairs sliding doors. My 11 year old daughter noticed him using my ladder without ever asking for permission to do so. When I asked if that was my ladder he was on, he got an attitude and said, "So you want me to go all the way downstairs to get mine?" That was not only disrespectful, but also careless since this is my personal property inside my home. Instead of apologizing or simply using his own equipment, he got upset. He told me to "hold on," so I thought he was going to get his ladder. Instead, he just left my home altogether leaving both my back door and my front door wide open as he walked out. Leaving me and my children and twin babies even more unsafe. I then called my landlord and he fabricated and told her that I was rude. I have cameras in my house from the moment he came to my door and asked him was he the exterminator due to his appearance how he was dress he said " I am " didn't speak introduce himself or anything. Very unprofessional. The way my landlord was speaking was as if he was a family member of hers. This behavior was not professional, not respectful, and certainly not safe. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable and courteous pest control service. Below is the photo of the guy and as you can see he came with his own equipment from the van with two ladders and had the Audacity to have an attitude and be rude to me about my personally property I purchased in my house. I use my ladder for personal things in my house not with shoes or outside use I don't even have to explain myself because he could have asked or simply used his own equipment and than was rude to my child. Very rude so do not book this company if that guy is coming! He did not fix the issue after later that night 11:08pm a bee came out one of the vents in my bedroom and one in the ceiling in the kitchen. I have been having this issue killed and have collected over 65+ bees in my house from July 2025-current. I have been to the E.R and doctors I have not been sleeping well due to bees being in my home and having children and twin babies and my landlord finalllllyyyyy sends an exterminator 9/09/2025 he was rude and didn't fix anything just left without saying anything.

It is always a pleasure to do business with someone when they are of great character, it makes it much easier and accepting to fork over the money. We had hornets in the ceiling and we were very close to having a serious issue with them getting into the living space. If this happened, and it would have if we did not act when we did, a large hornet nest that was growing may have fallen right into my elderly father's lap while in his recliner. When I called Cowleys to inquire what happened, they said they don't actually confirm these visits - they just show up?? But then why would you knock on my door if you don't need anyone to be present?
