So this spot is much smaller than expected so if you want to come, I would suggest going early. If you have a big group than I wouldn't suggest this place. There were six of us and we luckily got a space in the bag but it was hard getting in and out of the space for us. The food was good and I had some very juicy chicken here. My husband had the truffle fries and they weren't good and they stunk up our table so bad. They actually smelled very strongly of greasy fish too and we had to get them away from our table, so just a heads up. Other than that, we really enjoyed our food. Awesome atmosphere and food. We arrived here on Wednesday night and found free parking up to two hours on the street. We sat at the bar and were served right away. The staff was friendly and helpful. Luckily Wednesday night was 50 cent wings. I ordered the pepper lemon and hells honey. The pepper lemon tasted like a fantastic potato chip and the hella honey was mouth watering delicious. I was licking my fingers after every bite. My sister ordered the bison burger which was a little pricey and the size was ok, but still was delicious. We also ordered ice water - which is flavored vodka and was $9. It was also very tasty. A man ordered a round on him as he left too which was super nice! We came here after having skied all day and looking for a quick, casual meal to fill us up before calling it a day. It's a small place but since we were eating early we managed to get a seat quickly. The layout is a little awkward and it can feel cramped but I found that if you sat in the back it felt less so. You can either choose from one of their burgers or build your own from the toppings provided. The menu burgers are definitely the better value. I had yet to eat some Alberta beef when I came here so it only made sense to order a hamburger and that turned out to be the right decision. The burger itself was pretty big and the patty was very juicy. It had a good balance of toppings. The onion rings I got with it though were a little underwhelming. They were too greasy and lacking in crispness. Service was fast and friendly. Our waitress made the effort to make conversation with us and brought out our orders quickly. She also seemed to know the menu really well and did a great job with making recommendations. If you're in a mood for a hamburger then this is the place to satisfy that craving. Ok so, my boyfriend and I did a massive hike today and barely got to eat due to a man falling OFF A CLIFF and us having to help him. Anywho... this place hit the spot from the start. It is small but we were seated immediately. Waters right away, chugged right away. I ordered the maple old fashion and he had this tequila drink with some spice to it. They were both really good. Before the drinks were brought out, our orders were taken. Poutin as an appetizer. Large cheese curds, gravy was on point and the fries were crispy and hot. The elk burger with a fruit chutney was better than the bison with the onion ring. Both were highly recommended so we got both and split. Ate both in its entirety. Sweet potato fries were perfect. Visited Eddie Burger twice during stay in Banff. There was a distinct difference in the two meals. The first night the burger was nearly perfect. Which made us go back the second time where the burger was OK, but overcooked and the bacon was close to burnt. It was almost as though the cook got distracted for a few minutes; which is interesting because the first night was way busier than the second. They give you a sheet where you can also "build your own burger." We both chose to go with one on the menu. I got a Rocky Mt Burger - which has an Elk patty. The second visit I got a new Wicked Bacon Burger(?) - two patties and a pile of bacon and shoestring onion rings. The side salads both nights was extremely good. The house made vinaigrette really made the salad shine. Different server both nights. Both the servers were great and a perfect example of keeping drinks full and great interaction with customers. Like most places in Canada, they have Gluten free options in buns. Second visit, we also had a milkshake, which was also very good. Although we were slightly disappointed by the second visit, we both agreed we would go back again and recommend Eddie Burger. Perhaps it was just an off night or a different cook. Well, I'll start with complaining: if you're a normal sized human you might not mind but it's too damn small in Eddie's. So if you're a fatty fat fat American be advised. Otherwise, damn. Yum. Brandon the server got us set up with Eddie's Classics, Crispy chickens, poutine and hot tots. Also had me a Dude milkshake with Kaluha and vodka, of course. I abide. All of the above: Brandon, the Dude, Eddie's Classic with bacon and grilled onions, the crispy chicken, the tots and especially the gravy on the poutine were great! The poutine is fairly standard, I think, but everyone had some, even as a main course. They have two sizes: the small is more than enough for a main course or a side for two. The large is strictly for cattle ranchers just off of a two month drive. Or an American. I suppose if you are fat you can eat on the sidewalk, weather permitting. Just tried to dine at Eddie's and can't express how rudely we were treated by their manager, a woman by the name of Briar. First, as we walked in the restaurant she yelled at us telling us we had to go outside and check in with their hostess. Problem was there was no hostess outside otherwise we would have done that. We ignored her rudeness and went back outside and a young hostess (who was very nice and polite) came outside to sign us up on their waitlist. She told us it would be 30 minutes since all of the open tables and bar area were reserved for guests who had made reservations. We then waited around for over 25 minutes and none of the reserved seats had been take yet. I asked if we might place an order to go since we had a tour bus to catch in 45 minutes and she said no. I then politely suggested to the hostess that if we had taken one of the many open seats when we arrived we had arrived, we would have been done by now and gone before any of their reserved tables or bar seats guests arrived. My wife then gave up and went next-door to a Subway sandwich shop and I stayed on their waitlist. The hostess, again being nice, was able to convince the manager to get us a table but she told me my wife would not be allowed to bring weren't allowed to bring in her subway sandwich into the restaurant, even if she wasn't going to eat it there. I then said to the manager, who had come back outside and standing there with a nasty look on her face, that she had done everything she could to make it impossible for us to eat at their restaurant - from yelling at us to making us sit around for 25 minutes, to telling me I couldn't order take out. I decided to take a table and order, but when I mentioned I had a tour bus to catch in 45 minutes she rudely said I'm not going to guarantee your order will be ready in 45 minutes. I then said I can't believe you can't make a cheeseburger in 45 minutes, and she rudely said we're not a fast food joint. So at that point I gave up after dealing with her and her rudeness for over about 35-40 minutes. We spent three days In Banff and had the most enjoyable time possible. Everyone we ran into, from restaurant employees to locals, were unbelievably nice and courteous. What a shame to have to conclude our Banff vacation with this rude woman. Burgers may be great (I will never know since I will never return here), but not worth dealing with a woman like Briar who apparently feels it's ok to be rude to guests. We asked if there were bars that weren't full of 18 year olds (that's cool that they drink and go out, just not our scene being older) and she kept insinuating we had an issue with the locals. I was in Banff for vacation and craving a burger, so we popped into Eddie Burger to satisfy my burger craving...not once, but twice. FOOD: The burgers here are pretty incredible, I won't lie. My first time, I tried the Eddie Mac, which is a double patty with cheese and other good stuff, and a caesar salad. The second time I tried the Rocky Mountain Burger, which was an elk patty with cheese and blueberry chutney and a side caesar salad. I appreciated them accomodating my no-bun and no-croutons request, and the burgers and salads were really delicious! They also had other options for sides (fries, sweet potato fries, poutine, etc). ATMOSPHERE: This is a cute little place in the downtown Banff village, it's definitely a cozier/smaller spot. They have an amazing playlist on rotation that brings the good vibes. WHY -1 STAR?: The prices! Coming from Los Angeles, I was a little shocked to see how pricy our meals were. Granted, the burgers were delicious and I was very happy after the meal. But as other reviewers have pointed out, this isn't the cheapest dinner option. I popped into this burger, malt and booze shoppe before an afternoon of fun with my darling and my BFF, so I was in a pretty terrific mood. These ooey gooey snacks elevated it even further. I had the July 1st hot dog, poutine and a caesar. I finished about 1/4 of it, but I'm still happy I ordered it all. Excellent poutine. Crispy, runny and squeaky, just like a Quebec diner. The only con about this place are it can really add up if you're drinking. I was sitting at the bar and the man next to me was acting a little strange, I asked one of the bartenders if he was just weird or really drunk. The bartender told me to let me know if the man was bothering me because they'd take care of it. When another seat at the bar opened up the bartender helped me move over to that spot. The man was coming out of the bathroom and started walking towards me and another server stood next to me and blocked him from coming up to me. Both bartenders working kept an eye on me and ended up cutting the guy off. Their manager even came by and asked if I was doing better being seated over there. This staff taking the extra time to make sure I was ok and comfortable is 1. Amazing and 2. Important. I often still go to Eddie Burger, but where it was once for the intense burger-gasm I got from them, now, It's usually for a quick Trash Can* (see below) before getting my party on. Why just a drink? The drinks are consistent. (consistently powerful.) The burgers, however, to throw a couple cliches your way have been "Hit and Miss" or "Take it or Leave it". Eddie Burger has really big shoes to fill if for no other reason than I want them to be the best. When I'm in town after a day of riding, I'm looking to treat myself, and for me, kicking back with a craft beer and the burger of my dreams would be the perfect end to a perfect pow day. Hell, even a crappy, rocky, ice day where I rip the edge right out of my gorgeous new GNU (that was a sad day) could be turned around with the right slab of ground chuck. But when I go in with fond memories of my first Eddie Burger and wind up with a small dry, meatball-esque patty, I'm confused and disappointed like Cindy Lou Who seeing Santy Claus steal her Christmas tree. I ate here a 3rd time with a similar experience as the 2nd. Now I tend to find food elsewhere but stop in for I hope it's not just a sad truth that all tourists want for beer is run of the mill Labatt products. But, for a hip burger joint in the mountains, I wish the beer selection extended outside of the usual big brand suspects. I think people come to Banff to see a place that is uniquely Canadian. My husband got the Elk Burger and I got The Real Hawaiian - and no, it's not terrible because of the pineapple, but the beef patty itself was dry as f*ck and not well seasoned. The burgers were also expensive at $21.50... sweet potato fries were soggy too and were an extra charge. Maybe it was an off day... but when you specialize in burgers and this was during lunch on Saturday, you would think this is not the time to have an off day. The milkshake was good, but nothing special. Definitely not worth $9.75 when typically a milkshake of this caliber elsewhere is more like $6.
