We had a nice stay. Fantastic location too. We were in cabin 6, 1 bedroom, kitchenette, restroom had a standing shower. It also had a coffee maker, kettle, sauté pans, dishes, glassware. No baking sheet so if you get pizza you'll need to heat it in the microwave. There was an another family next to us, but even with both of our indoor voices we could pick up discussions and kind of hear each other but it is what it is. I'd definitely look into booking this place again. We ended up arriving late in the day after the office closed and they had sealed envelopes with our names for check-in instructions. read more

Heavy winds from 20-30 miles per hour with gusts ranging from 40-50 mph. I checked CalTrans every hour over night and they finally made the call for chains required on the 395, travel cautiously if you must drive warning. Crystal was very helpful and understanding of the weather situation along with delays in driving. I have never driven in those conditions and every forum related to mammoth mountain (Facebook and Instagram) said it was safe to stay out if you weren't in Mammoth already. Crystal, with the help of my Expedia agent, refunded my reservation despite their cancellation policy. Thank you so much Crystal! Cute cozy lodge in Mammoth! Highly recommend staying here if you're looking for something on the cheaper side. We booked it 2 weeks in advance (abour $140 a night). The nice thing is everything is self check-in, you find your name at in the envelope and it gives you a code for your room. There's 1 parking spot for your room. The room was prepared nicely with the heater on. There's 1 queen bed with clean sheets and pillows were pretty good too. There's a mini kitchen with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, a few glasses and plates, paper towels and cutlery. Just enough to get by. Small desk area with an old TV. Tiny bathroom with a hairdryer and enough towels. Shower had shampoo, conditioner and body gel. Free wifi too. My only complaints were the shower floor looked dingy and the water pressure was very low. The light in the shower didn't work either. The luggage holder was broken as well. Other than that, everything was fine. Walls are super thin so you can hear your neighbors. read more

We stayed here for one night as we were passing through the area. It seemed like a good value for what it was given the price of other lodging options in the area. We arrived after hours and check in was easy. We were upstairs in one of the multi unit buildings. Due to the age of the buildings, you can hear others quite easily. Hot water slow to get to showers ... so we had to run water a while. There is a full kitchen, but it is lightly stocked. The range and stove are a smaller size, but functional. The kitchen was stocked with the bare basics. Don't come expecting to make elaborate meals ... but it's adequate for some basic cooking. There was soap to wash the dishes but no sponge. We also noticed in the motel information online that a fire would be prepared in advance and we would just need to light it. That was not the case in our room. Nothing prepared in the fireplace and no wood in the unit. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of blankets to stay warm. Heater worked well too. read more

I searched Google for a pet-friendly hotel. This place - among others - popped up, but this one was further out than the rest. Based on the options available, I chose Cabin 9 - The Couples Cabin. It's perfect! Full kitchen, TV, Queen Bed, and plenty of room for the dogs to run around in the living room. As mentioned, their pet policy is setup for us dog lovers. They give a care package and appear to be understanding about accidents (mine are potty trained, so we're lucky). You might even see Dawn and Terry - the owners - walking their adorable pup. Dawn and Terry are extremely nice and make the booking process very easy. I've had so many bad situations due to lack of communication with other bookings, but everything about their process is awesome. Oh, and those cookies were amazing! The location is kind of off the main road, but very central to everything you want when coming to Mammoth and also everything you need when traveling. 10-15 minutes will get you hiking, shopping, or eating. Right up the street is a very nice walking trail (you can see one of the pictures I posted somewhere on here), which ended up being my morning route with the dogs. And, I guess the public transit is free! This will be my booking place whenever I come back to Mammoth. I really don't want to leave. Thank you for everything! read more

This is my first time at Mammoth and I am SO happy we chose Edelweiss. What a fabulous little place, Terry and Dawn are the NICEST, most helpful, kind and accommodating people, you feel like you're their one and only guest and the place is dog friendly! I absolutely love it here, we got the studio, which is small but totally perfect and has pretty much everything you need and has a fully stocked little kitchenette (dishes, micro, toaster, fridge, corkscrew, coffeemaker, etc). In addition to two of the best cookies we ever tasted, they also provided a welcome basket for our dog, complete with a ball, biscuits, bowls, blankie, placemat, towel and a sheet to protect people-bedding. Nico was thrilled! The location is great, red and grey line both stop here, and there are a bunch of trails right out the front door. Terry took time to explain all the best spots in town and I really appreciated that as a newcomer. We had a great time exploring!! I cannot wait to come back, can't imagine staying anywhere else! First, I'm a slacker, I should've written this review for my beloved Edelweiss ages ago! If you can't tell already, I adore the Edelweiss! It's everything I've ever wanted in an adorable, authentic, cozy mountain lodge -- and it's super pet friendly! My dog is in love with the place, she practically bolts out of the car when we arrive (it might have something to do with the treats waiting for her in our room, courtesy of the lodge)! Great location, close to everything, including a short walk to the mountain shuttle. It's situated right on a great running path that goes into town. Perfection! I probably stayed here on 10+ occasions last year, forgoing a house share to have a nice, inexpensive place to call my own (with my darling pup of course). It's basically my second home. Sue and Dale are amazing, and super accommodating - helping me out with last minute bookings and full of info re anything you could possibly need in Mammoth. The rooms are adorable and super clean. We stayed in cabin 3 for three nights, with six people and one dog. Location: Nestled in a sleepy little nook of Mammoth, surrounded by what looked like a residential area. Far enough from the hustle and bustle, but only a cartwheel away from it all. 8 minutes from The village by car. 5 mins from Von's. There are also bus stops within a walk-able distance, but I can't say for sure because we didn't take advantage of it. It's supposedly free too. I know, I know. We had a 6 year old, okay? Skiing from 9am-3pm then making the wee one take the bus + walking = recipe for disaster. Lol. Anyways. Cabin: Nice little cabin with two bedrooms (furnished with queen beds), one bath, full kitchen, a pull-out sofa bed (sleeps 2) in the living, and wood burning fireplace. Heaters in each room, including a big buff one in the living room. Then another in one of the closets, which we kept in the bathroom. It was like the tropics of Philippines in there. Outside there are loads of parking spots, which makes it easy for the grown ups and lots of play area for the poochies and kiddies. Customer service: Upon arrival the humans are greeted with milk choco chip/white choco chip with nuts(? I don't remember, lol as I annihilated them too quickly), and pooches get a care basket to use during their stay there. Cleaning spray, couple of treats, a blankie, poop bags, ball, etc. Really, stellar customer service. Besides bribing you with cookies, any questions or concerns that came up were immediately addressed and resolved. All the way from we have no idea what we're doing here to smoke alarm needs new batteries. We had bought crummy snow cables last year and had to use them this trip. Needless to say I was scared of plowing through a parking lot and a half then falling into a ravine. Hosts didn't know anything about chains (cause they had AWD like everyone in Mammoth does) but kindly enough called AAA for me and was able to find a service I could call. I'm still alive, so, yay! Highly recommend and would stay here again next time we visit Mammoth. Pricing is fair with what you are getting. read more

In 1998 this place is where we had our honeymoon. Needless to say we have been going there every year since 1998. Through all of the owners I have seen a decrease in good customer service, and honestly very few updates. They use to many years ago reward your loyalty by giving you one day for free when you stay two days. I understand this is a business and that you are just there to make a profit. However the new owners neglect to make returning customers of 20 years feel valuable!! I recently tried to book a stay for December 2019 and they are unwilling to honor the 3rd night for free as they told me just three weeks ago when I initially was trying to book my visit but their website had all of the dates grayed out and could not book my stay. So when I tried booking it now they denied me and basically made me feel like I'm nothing more than some random person. A small cabin in the mountains should always make people feel welcomed but you have become nothing more than a standard business. If that's the case I will treat you the same. Your cabins lack all of the standard amenities that are up-to-date. Your beds are hard and couches look like they are from 1980. The closet doors barely open and close and feels extremely dated. But hey I never said anything in the past because you guys always made me feel welcomed and was given the third night at no charge. So welcome to the business world! I will not return and your callous attitude's will be more than likely reciprocated from your future guest as the same. There are plenty of other cabins in your area for the same price that have 100% up-to-date amenities and will make you feel much more wanted. I will pay the going rate and get much more!! read more

My boyfriend surprised me for our three year anniversary to this beautiful location. We couldn't be happier. The staff is warm, welcoming, and accommodating. My boyfriend mentioned that Sue was especially helpful, and went above and beyond. The room is clean, spacious, homey, and comfortable. It's the little details that count, like full ice trays in the freezer, dish soap under the sink, extra pillows and blankets in the closet, wood stacked next to the fireplace, extra tv tables, luxury robes, fresh baked cookies, a CD player alarm radio on the night stand, and care packages for both us and the puppies. Oh, and the jacuzzi which you can reserve for private sessions with candles and music is fantastic. I love this place so much that I don't ever want to leave! We stayed here this past weekend. We got there a little after 4 to find an envelope with our name on it. There was a note inside stating the lights and heater were on plus there were chocolate chip cookies on our table, which our son was looking forward to. None of that was done. The room itself was straight out of the 70's; green carpet and lots of wood panelling. The wifi code didn't work. When we called and got ahold of someone, we were told we must be entering it wrong and there was nothing they could do as they were off site. It was nice to be disconnected from everything. I liked the decor that matched the area: old ice skate blades, skis, etc. I wasn't a huge fan of the old furniture or the bedspread that had writing on it with a sharpie?! We also were in the cabin that is directly below where the owners live and the floor was quite squeaky. It would have been much nicer to be in a separate cabin. I can't believe it took me this long to write a review! Me and my boyfriend stayed at Edelweiss back in January and it was absolutely wonderful! It's far away enough from the mountain to avoid the crowds at the mountain, but a close enough drive to town for eating out and boarding. I think we stayed in #5 and I would stay in that cabin again, it was super comfy with plenty of space to relax or cook a nice dinner. We brought our dogs which was great because there is a trail close by to take them on a nice walk. Dawn and Terry were so nice to us. We went for my boyfriend's birthday, which I had informed her when making the reservation, and there was some beer in the fridge when we got there; who does that kinda stuff anymore! Cozy, friendly inn, dog-friendly. We love Mammoth in late summer and come almost annually for Labor Day weekend through the following week. Edelweiss has been out home-away-from-home for about the last 10 years. It is small, quiet and very convenient. Small but completely adequate kitchen for making breakfast, packing lunch for hikes, and making the occasional dinner (barbecues conveniently right next to our unit). Sue and Dale are friendly, helpful and loved our dog enough to play with her all day the one day we went up to Yosemite (where dogs aren't allowed on trails). We like the one-bedroom unit in the "4-plex" but there are some 2 bedroom units for families. Jacuzzi is indoors, not so great in summer but I imagine quite special in winter. read more

First, Edelweiss is a Mammoth landmark. It's beginnings were in 1957. The location is optimal in summer and also the bike path doubles for a scenic walk, run, etc. It is within walking distance to Snowcreek Athletic Club, where one can catch the shuttle to town or to the lifts. In winter the walk could be laborious if it's storming. Shuttle stop isn't far from Chair 15 . Charming Swiss style separate chalet cabins and smaller units available. We have stayed twice , winter Dec 2018 & May 2019. The first time we stayed in a 1 bedroom unit with a pull out sofa. It was charming but a little tight with 4 of us plus a dog. The woman at the front desk was very friendly, a little behind in getting the place warmed up for us, but had cookies for the kids and a welcome doggie basket ( treats and cleaning agents, a sheet for the sofa) for our husky. The wood and wood burning stove is a nice touch, no extra cost for the wood. We had trouble with the stove a couple times and it was hard to get ahold of someone to help us., as Edelweiss shares management with both Holiday Haus and Moderne Hostel in town. Over Memorial Weekend we had our own cabin , #1 . Arrived very late, lights were on, envelope with our access code ( no keys here, which is really nice) heater was on so place was toasty and pleasant. No doggie supplies this time, or cookies, but we always bring our own. (Both!) It had two bedrooms, an updated bathroom and great breakfast nook area. In late spring there is grass outside and chairs to sit. The rough winter had damaged some of the foliage but that's to be expected. We had a parking space right next to our cabin. You need to let the manager know if you bring a dog. We couldn't find anyone for two days in the office. However, there is an answering machine for all 3 hotels if you need to call. Please do because failure to let them know will cost you $200. The regular rate is $20 a day for pets . Hot tub on premises, I didn't use it however. Maid service is extra. However, when management is there, you can grab extra towels and garbage bags when needed. But the trick is to catch them when they are there. I'd stay again , especially in a cabin. It feels like the Sierras here, away from any noise . read more

I stayed here with a few friends after a backpacking trip at Ansel Adams Wilderness last week. I called to see if there were any rooms available and Sue gladly told us there was one room left. As we checked in, Sue was very kind in helpful in telling us all the amenities available and also recommended us a place to eat since we were tired of eating freeze dried boiled food. Along with her recommendation, she also gave us a card that gave us a free appetizer. The room we stayed at was a small studio but it had all the amenities we needed including a small fridge and free coffee. I would definitely recommend this place if you plan on staying in the Mammoth area. The owners are really friendly, the rooms are homey, and It's about a five minute drive to the ski resort and restaurants. read more

I think the other 5-star reviews for this place really do a good job of saying what I want to say, so I recommend reading through all of them :) This place isn't a luxury resort or upscale hotel, but it does have the perfect amount of comfort and welcoming atmosphere that you look for when vacationing in a mountain town. My boyfriend and I decided to try visiting Mammoth for the first time because of the Groupon deal offered for this place, and we're so very happy with our stay that we'll be re-booking with or without a Groupon in the future. The rooms are both cozy but also spacious enough to be comfortable. We were welcomed with a lovely note and our keys hanging outside, as well as the most delicious cookies ever waiting on the table inside for us. There's plenty of firewood outside, and we didn't have to pay some outrageous fee to use any of it, unlike places we've stayed in Big Bear Lake. Since we had only ever been to a handful of different cabins in Big Bear, we had those experiences to compare this to, and Edelweiss surpassed all of them simply by not nickel and dime-ing us to death with hidden fees and crazy prices for simple amenities. The location of Edelweiss is both far enough away to make you feel a bit removed from the noise and lights of the restaurants and ski resorts, but also close enough (5-7 minute drive) that you're never too far away if you need to hop in the car and go. We didn't do any cooking ourselves, but we would have been more than able to. There's a stove, microwave, fridge, and lots of utensils, cups, towels, etc, and unlike previous places we've stayed, all of them were in good, clean condition, and we weren't afraid to use them :) Sue and Dale have both done an incredible job with Edelweiss, and we look very forward to returning soon! read more

We came here for a few nights (I had a Groupon) and are already planning to come back. This place is NOT fancy, so don't expect brand new furniture and turn down service, but it has all the comforts of home and more. The owners are very laidback, helpful and friendly. I liked how pet friendly they were, and also how we were kind of outside town but still close by enough to do a grocery or coffee run. The cabin was clean and well kept. Just returned from a wonderful week in Cabin #3, perfect for myself, my grand-daughter and her husband, plus my great grand kids Rylan, age 6 and River age 2. The cozy cabin was a delight! Bedrooms for the adults and a comfy pull out couch for the kids, who enjoyed watching movies in total comfort a few evenings. The welcome cookies were yummy and a lovely way to begin our visit. Dawn filled us in on the latest fishing tips, nearby walking trails and recommended breakfast or lunch at the Silver Lake Cafe where we thoroughly enjoyed a delicious breakfast with a lovely view. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed cooking breakfast, packing picnic lunches and using the outdoor barbecue. We had such a good time here we will definitely return! read more

We stayed at this lodge this past weekend and it was so nice and cozy! And the location is great! Close to town,stores and the main lodge to ski and the scenic gandolas. Check in was easy. Got to the cabin and it provided us with everything we needed. Towels, toiletries, utensils, cooking set. We stayed in cabin 8, one of the bigger cabins and there was enough space for 5 of us. We got trail recommendations to take a scenic walk. It's pet friendly, they provide you with all the essentials to have your dog at the cabin. Next time we are definitely taking our little dog there! I have never had the experience we had at this place. We chose a cabin, made a reservation, and paid a deposit. When we arrived, we were told that the people in our cabin had decided to stay another night. How does this happen at a well run establishment? We picked the cabin we picked for a reason, and even talked on the phone to the manager/owner the afternoon of our arrival, but nothing was said until we arrived. We wound up in a cabin over the laundry room where people started making noise at 7:30 am. I will say, the cabin was clean and comfortable, nicely decorated, fully equipped kitchen, everything worked and the cookies were good, but we did not even get any compensation for the mess-up!! We just spent 3 nights at the Edelweiss Lodge because of a friend's recommendation, we could not have had a more pleasant experience. The cabin was spotlessly clean with a full kitchen (that we used every day), had a huge picture window and a wood burning fireplace. The manager was friendly and helpful with hiking suggestions. My wife, son, and I took our first trip up to Mammoth Lakes this past weekend. We often go to Big Bear and we enjoy simple snow play and mountain adventures. We were looking for a quiet place with charm and an area to play freely in the snow right outside our door. When we arrived at Edelweiss we were bursting with excitement. It was just what we had hoped for and when I entered the office I met the most friendly hostess, Ann from Texas, awaiting our arrival. She was very kind and made us feel right at home and like we were family. Ann was able to direct me to some great snow play areas as well along with a nice big map that was easy to follow. We had planned for two nights at Edelweiss and had a one bedroom cabin. It is cozy and once we unpacked, we immediately felt at home. The rustic charm really took hold because by the next morning, we had decided we needed to go talk to Ann to find out how we can extend our stay! She was so helpful in setting us up in the two bed room, two story cabin for our third night. We came here for the charm and found it. The rooms were super clean for being pet friendly. Maybe my wife can bring her cat next time because she really missed her, haha. I was impressed by the free firewood they offer for the wood burning fireplaces that really work well to heat the room as well. Going back to having a place to play in the snow right outside your door... my son and I spent hours right outside our cabin. There is a sloping open space to play in and with over a foot of snow out there, we got a good work out grooming a sled run... which by the way we were surprised to see they had two plastic sled toys hanging there for us to play with. I had actually brought up two tubes that cost quite a bit... we ended up not using them, so I get a little money back by being able to return those which is nice. We brought inexpensive snow brick makers and snowball makers from Amazon and we had the best time with our 7 year old making a brick snow wall and having a snow ball fight. Everything was just perfect and as I sit here at working writing this... my mind is still up on the mountain playing. Thank you Ann and Edelweiss for making our annual winter vacation a huge success. This is a long overdue yelp. My boyfriend and I stayed May 6-8 for a school trip. We absolutely loved our visit. The owners were extremely helpful, kind, and polite. We initially booked for the really small room but didn't think it was the right fit for us so I asked one of the two sisters if we would be able to move rooms. Unfortunately everything was booked but one of the sisters was coming from Santa Clarita that weekend and offered to switch rooms with us. (We payed the room difference). We stayed in the room under the owners where there was a spacious kitchen, comfortable bed, fire place/wood, and tv. Everything was clean and comfortable. The two sisters made our trip so much more relaxing and enjoyable when it could have been difficult. I would definitely recommend to friends and family!!
