This place has gone downhill with the new owners ! Save your money. We used to go weekly and haven't been back for months ! The quality of the meat is only prime if you buy the special. They used to serve all prime steaks. The price is still the same. Just the quality has gone down hill. They also have a huge turnover of employees !

Oh my gawd.....what an awesome bar. Laidback atmosphere, no pressure to drink, eat and get out, a decent list of beers from different micro breweries around the state, good food, all in one place. I stopped in for a late lunch / early dinner. The menu had more offerings than I usually see in these small town bars and that alone was impressive. The chicken noodle soup was a special on this day and I would gladly take a vat of that home: Cubed carrots, and large noodles were overtaken by the sheer volume of chicken pieces. All brought together with sage in the perfect broth. The stuffed mushrooms were not the soggy mess I typically come across, but were crispy on the outside-- even after taking them home to re-heat. One of the main specials that night was the steak -- one of two. it did not disappoint. It was cooked exactly as I asked but was huge. I ordered the smaller of the two options so I wonder about the size of the other. The meal comes with the individual loaf of bread. I rarely see that anymore, except in these small town bars. Now on to the service....holy wow! 5 stars for that. What a great place-- definitely a stop for the locals, but it seems as though everyone is treated as a local.

We used to love this place a d brag it up to our friends and family, convincing them it's worth the drive. After our last couple, last three visits actually, my opinion has drastically changed. Like so many places, prices have gone up and quality has gone down. The prices on the menu right now are truly offensive considering the quality of the food has been awful. Sad.

The Edgar Bar is considered a steakhouse. There were five of us. My friend ordered his steak medium rare; it was well done and he didn't enjoy it. He liked his baked potato and green beans. I ordered the stuffed mushrooms and did not understand they would be breaded and deep fried. I wished I had ordered something different. Our service was friendly and efficient. This bar seems to be popular with locals. We were visiting family and they really enjoy Edgar Bar.

The food is insanely delicious and the vibe is fun and laidback! Ribeye from a local ranch was cooked to a perfect medium rare with the best seasoning. The jumbo shrimp are unreal...almost as big as your hand and fresh. We had the jumbo shrimp dinner and the scrimp scampi, both are worth the trip to Edgar. The service was outstanding: fun, attentive and so nice!

This is the second time I've been here and this little bar is a hidden gem. On your way to or from Red Lodge, Montana, stop by for a friendly smile and a great drink.

Always good food, but the service can be hit or miss. The Fried Pickles are our "go-to" indulgence in the winter.

Lamb sliders: I liked these paired with goat cheese but nothing special Sticky toffee pudding: decadent caramel delight! Order this! Drinks: Watermelon cucumber margarita (made with agave wine) super refreshing and strong I was impressed by the unique flavor combinations of the dishes and overall experience I had here. Great place that offers local Red Lodge cuisine!

On the tables they have butcher block and give you some crayons. lol. (So if you see scribbles and tic-tac-toe, you know why). The start of the evening was a little slow after we were seated, but then our waitress Liz showed up. She was very nice and had a great quirky/funny demeanor. I ordered a dirty bleu martini and it was yummy. When our food was delivered we were pleasantly surprised with how big that steak actually was. Our sides were potatoes augratin loaded, green beans, and creamed spinach. I chose the Caesar salad and the hubby chose the gumbo. It was all really good. We ended taking left over steak, green beans, and creamed spinach back to the hotel. For all of that food, including an alcoholic beverage, the total really wasn't that bad. The note on the bottom of the bill cracked me up. I would go back again if we came back into town.

Having been a longtime patron of the Rex Hotel back when it was first restored…read morein the 1980s, imagine the delight when you find an old haunt reimagined and refreshed for today's patrons. The interior is western themed, naturally, and overstuffed with atmosphere not to mention the seats. Great views of the bar and kitchen, you can watch a crew hard at work. The courtyard seating remains delightful but on a Billings Friday night in the historic railroad district it was loud, but good times. The setting and service are top-notch. The Menu is expansive for a Montana steakhouse, lots, lots of choices besides the beef, with wonderful sides, and salads. Solid wine and beer list but imaginative cocktails. Do try the Orange Nor'easter, a blend of bourbon, ginger beer, maple syrup and ginger beer that is a great summer drink. The NY strip was superb--wish the more expensive places back in the east would send their folks out west to learn how to grill steak. Seared with a crispy outside but perfect medium rare on the inside. The steak bites appetizer was a meal into itself, and spot on in its prep. Loved the deluxe mashed potatoes. Beet salad was fresh and zingy. Even the bread service was superior. The wait staff did a great job of explaining everything. But they couldn't convince us to do desserts--bet they are top notch too. Maybe next time. We opted for another round of cocktails on a warm summer night when at this place Billings lived up to its motto of being the "Magic City"

The meat portions are huge, like 16-20 ounces for each cut, so unless you're starving, definitely consider splitting between two people. Each cut is served a la carte with the sides meant to share for the table. I didn't do that and ordered the butter aged ribeye, and my husband and I shared the escargot, lobster mac and cheese, and their vegetable of the day which was a stuffed pepper. The steak was INCREDIBLE. I finished it all, even though I was then very full for multiple days. I loved the escargot as well, it was so cheesy and buttery. The Mac and cheese is also a stand out, definitely order it, so delicious. The stuffed peppers weren't great, I didn't really like them. They had too much going on flavor-wise that didn't really work. If I were to go back, I'd get a more standard steakhouse side like broccoli or asparagus. To drink, I ordered the gin fizz. It had little bits of lavender on top and you could really taste it in each sip, but it wasn't overpowering. Very delish. The service was great throughout the evening. I also thought the restaurant was beautiful with tall ceilings, beautiful bar, and the tables and chairs were beautiful (and comfortable).
