Food tasted decent, but the service was horrible. And, ten dollars for a sandwich with no fries or chips is ridiculous. We had a party of six. All of the tables for six were taken at the time, but the host walked us back to a four seater hightop and a bar type that sat two. We asked if we could pull the table back from the wall and put the barstools on the ends. He said yes. As we were pulling up our stools, the waitress ran up and told us it was a fire hazard and that we couldn't do that even though the table was in the furthest corner and would not have impeded any traffic. It didn't get much better either. Food came out separately; water glasses sat empty throughout the meal. One asked for mayonnaise and was told, "It's already on there." read more

I had one of the worst customer service experiences this evening. A group of us came in after a show at the Fox and took a table. Shortly after ordering drinks everyone else from the Fox also came over. It was a rush. It happens at bars. Often. 20 minutes after ordering we are still waiting on some drinks and food. Not a word from the waitress and she is no where to be seen. By this time folks who got there drinks and food are already finished so the rest of us cancel our food. The waitress goes off on us about how they just got slammed etc etc. It's a bar. That's what happenes. She was extremely rude. A simple I'm sorry I'll be right with you would of been great. Also the food is subpar and the menu is incorrect. Poor service and poor food. A loosing combo. read more

Well where do I start. Several of us (friends and family) went to this bar after a nice rehearsal dinner down the street. The atmosphere and the lighting were perfect. The drinks were also top notch. The reason for the 3 star review was due to the customer service. Although a Friday night, the bar wasn't too crowded. My girlfriend and I had been standing at the bar for several minutes even after making eye contact with the bartender. The bar back could tell we were slightly annoyed and approached us asking if we were okay. I told him yes but that we had been waiting for a long time for a drink. He tugged on the bartenders shirt to give him a heads up and the bartender (tall gentleman, blonde man bun, and tattoos) turned around raised his voice telling us the man who asked us if we were okay was a bar back and was not to take orders. He almost made my girlfriend cry. It was extremely rude and uncalled for especially since the bar back approached us first. Otherwise, the drinks and atmosphere are perfect for any type of occasion (just don't stand near the bartender with the anger issues and the blonde man bun)! read more

We evacuated to Atlanta for Hurricane Irma. This place was located not too far from our hotel and so we gave it a try. I will give it 5 stars for the cocktails. They were inventive and delicious. Big swing and a miss going to P&P tonight. Everything was bad, from the service to the shortie shuffleboard table that slants so much it can't keep a stone on the board. Our server was complete inept from the get go, struggling to take our drink orders, taking a long time to bring them and not paying attention to us. My wife asked for the chicken biscuit with no mayo, and lo and behold it came slathered in mayo. It sickened her so much she sent it back and couldn't fathom eating anything after that. At the end of the night out sever told us she had no idea how to split the checks. At this point is doesn't even seem like her fault, it's on management for either providing no training whatsoever or putting someone with no skills in the field to deal with customers. The bar charged $17 for a Manhattan made with lower-mid level whiskey. Then the bartender gave us dirty looks and pointed at us after calling them out on it. My thought is that P&P has to be heavily subsidized by the Georgian Terrance Hotel upstairs, because there is no way it could exist as a stand alone establishment. read more

BEWARE. Shady billing and terrible service! I'll start from (before) the beginning. I had a friend who rented out a "private" room for her husband's 30th birthday. I use the room private loosely because the area was what is typically the main entrance, thus we had a constant stream of people coming and going through the "private" party all night (a few even tried to eat the food!). We received absolutely no support from the restaurant shy of a small sign outside the room. I wish that was the worst part of the night. The bar was soooo slow. We had a total of about 4 drinks over the course of about 4 hours, about 2 of those hours we actually had a drink in our hand; the rest of the time was spent waiting. The server was incompetent (we were told we'd have 2 servers): my girlfriend ordered a martini, about 20 minutes later I ordered a mixed drink... well about 20 minutes after that my drink came out but no martini. I asked about it and she told me the bar was behind, which of course begs the question why a mixed drink with many ingredients takes less time to make than one with only 2 ingredients? We spoke to the manager who was extremely unprofessional and basically told us we were SOOL. Now the fun part, time to pay! To the server's credit - she did a good job of keeping straight who ordered what etc... So she brings our checks, and we give her our cards to run. She then bring back the credit card slips WITH DIFFERENT AMOUNTS ON THEM!!! I of course ask why there is a discrepancy? Enter incompetent manger again.... after asking him the same question he proceeds to tell us that we're bullying their server and trying to intimidate her!! All we did was ask why they ran our credit cards for a different amount than they said they were, after going round and round for a little while he finally concedes that she forgot the auto grat us before bringing the checks, so they added the auto grat before running our cards. The *big* problem here is that in no way did they tell us gratuity had already been added, essentially trying to double dip all of us for double gratuity! This is by far the shadiest thing I have ever seen a restaurant or server do, and to have a manager try to cover this up and validate it is absolutely unacceptable and immoral. There are too many of these "speakeasy" type bars in Atlanta now to give money to a place like this who doesn't care about it's customers, management, or own business morals. Steer clear. If you're looking for this vibe, check out Holeman & Finch down the street. read more

I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews here. "Atlanta has plenty of cocktails and plenty of bars where I can spend my money without feeling dissed by some cranky hipster " I said to myself. I decided to check it out and leave upon the first whiff of dismissive indifference or snobbish tomfoolery. Well, ladies and gents, I barely made it to my dinner reservation on time because I didn't want to leave ! I had a Hemingway daiquiri and asked for light Luxardo. It was perfection! My beau had some type of delicious whisky drink, and then a phenomenal mezcal drink that wasn't on the menu, but we both felt was the best cocktail of our bar-hopping evening. They have great drinks on the menu but also made it clear they would happily makeup something from their arsenal to suit your tastes. Each night they feature a punch as well. The food menu is full of tasty-sounding bites at various sizes. The smoked chicken wings were smoked /cooked to perfection. There's no spice or sauce on the outside but the smokiness is delicious enough. I feel like some previous reviews neglect to mention all the fine detail going on here. Delicious house made syrups , a thoughtfully curated food and drink menu, unique bitters, home grown pickled veggies, a warm, cozy and inviting atmosphere. I know these are things you expect from ALL craft cocktail bars, but they're really doing it here. It's not just some dudes in vests making you the same tired Aviation. Honestly I could see the staff coming off as a bit brutish, especially later on the night when things get busy, but all were nice enough during our sit at the bar. One complaint was that someone who appeared to be a manager-type brought our food, no silverware or napkins, then just handed us cocktail napkins when we asked for napkins. Our bartender remedied this when he noticed but it was awkward and frankly unacceptable from a manager. Regardless - I absolutely recommend this spot, and if I lived in ATL I would put it in regular rotation. read more

I really enjoyed my evening here which consisted of mostly whiskey and good conversation. Let me start off with the location in the lower floors of the Georgian Terrace hotel, and how beautiful the building is. My party and I were told to sit wherever we wanted and we found a nice spot in a booth on the left of the restaurant as you walk in the doors. The first drink I ordered, and the first drink Ill have when I return was the Southern 75 consisting of four roses bourbon, demerara syrup, lemon, and finch's cutthroat ipa. Wow, this was unexpected. Id never really had a beer and bourbon cocktail before but sweet jesus was this good. It reminded me in so many ways of being a little sick when I was a kid (but only in the best ways). My mom used to make me hot tea with honey, lemon, and whiskey and the Southern 75 was a like a grown up version of that drink. I could happily drink those all day long. I didnt have much to eat here, so Ill have to update my review when I go back for a non liquid dinner. read more

I am typically a bourbon purest so I rarely try bourbon cocktails but the Southern 75 at P&P is a do not miss for bourbon drinkers. I would've never thought to mix Sweetwater IPA with Four Roses Bourbon but it's unique characteristics make the cocktail much more enjoyable than expected. I also suggest the pretzels and cheese sauce- so good they'll make you wanna slap your mama. Great place to grab drinks and apps before or after a show at The Fox. read more

Decided to try this place out based on the more recent Yelp reviews. It's pretty hidden and conveniently located across from the Fox Theatre. We came here around 5:45pm with no problem getting a spot at the bar for 2. We were nicely greeted by the bartender and ordered the punch and a draft beer. The punch was very unique and I've never tasted anything quite like it, also liked the $6 price tag which after 2 was plenty to get a nice buzz going. We also ordered the smoked wings, smoked jerky at $5 each along with grilled cheese and tomato soup. Total bill was around $54 which isn't bad for midtown for what we ordered. The service was prompt and the kitchen very efficient. This is exactly what it is: it's designed with getting people in and out for before and after shows which is why the menu is on the limited side but it's perfect for what we wanted. This little spot is tucked away beneath one of Atlanta's most notable landmarks, the Georgian Terrace Hotel. I was at the bar in the Livingston and while they were doing the last call of the evening I kept hearing people talk about going downstairs to have some more cocktails. I decided to leave the Livingston and venture "downstairs" to see what was going on. I expected to go downstairs through some dimly lit hallway to find an exit sign by a door with a panic bar handle leading me to a back alley to find some group of homeless alcoholics huddled around a trash can fire wearing some old, dirty, tattered, cloth gloves with the fingers missing. Much to my surprise, I found another bar named Edgar's Proof & Provision instead! This intimate little spot encased in brick and wood reminds me of what it may have been like to go to some hidden Prohibition era bar in Chicago. The bartender mixed me up a Sazerac. It was entertaining watching him shake, shimmy, and set stuff on fire (...and I think he may have even done a couple of somersaults) while mixing some of the other cocktails. My Sazerac was spot on; the rye and anise flavor of the Sazerac is a nice cap to the night after coming from a full meal upstairs. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience as well as my drink, and I'll have to go back a little earlier in the evening to try more drinks as well as some of the food on the menu. read more

Went for a late night drink and snack. Tried a few cocktails including the Hemingway Daquiri and an Old Fashioned. Also tried the smoked almonds, and those were piping hot and quite tasty with a hint of bacon since they're put in the same smoker as some of the meats. Overall ambiance isn't super memorable, though sat at the bar and had an unexpected and interesting conversation with a random couple next to us and one of the bartenders. So, nothing overly unique but quite solid and enjoyable for our purposes that evening. If you're into cocktails, it's worth a try. read more

I hate to write a bad review on this place since it's so convenient to the Fox and has a fun atmosphere with good cocktails and semi good food, but they rubbed me the wrong way. My hubs and I wanted to grab a drink and an app before our show and we had to seat ourselves (not that big of a deal) and waited on a server for 15+ min. The hubs went to find someone and our apparent waitress snapped and said I am your waitress and snapped at us the remainder of the evening. Don't be rude to guests. Period. A definite cross between a gastropub and a speakeasy. There are fun little twists on snacks with a lot of sinful ingredients and classic cocktails with housemade syrups and infusions. I loved descending from the sleepy, old hotel into the dark, hip, almost secretive Proof and Provision.The music is a little loud and I would not call this a first date type of place. While this is billed as a Speakeasy, it is really just a sportsbar that plays 1980's music and happens to have great drinks and appetizers. It is set up to look like a really cool bar - with the rough brick, dark wood trim and open vent ceiling system. They have some vintage "we want beer" prohibition photos in the front. If they darkened this place up a bit, put some shades on the windows, and played Frank Sinatra and the rat pack, then this place really could be billed as a speakeasy. But when you walk in and they have monster truck events on all of the tvs, and Freeze Frame by J Geils Band blasting very loud over the stereo system, then you lose the effect. I have been to Proof & Provision several times and have loved it. The craft drinks are wonderful. I always order the Southern 75 because hey make it the best out of everywhere I've had it. Tonight that was not the case. There is an article in Garden & Gun where they are noted as making the Southern 75. However, tonight the bartender said they could not make a Southern 75 at all. When I had the waitress ask him about it again he flat out told her "it's ultimately my decision so I don't have to make it". This drink is literally Bourbon and an IPA, I don't understand how a craft bar can't make this at all. That's not really the point though. The point is hat you don't say things of that nature in the customer service industry. I wasn't asking for anything exotic and I still get a ridiculous response from the bartender. This is not how you keep customers coming back over and over. read more

Went to P&P after a show across the street at the fox. Lively place - took forever to get service - the wine list is not good so I would suggest having a cocktail instead. We weren't crazy hungry but wanted something to nosh on - ordered a couple orders of the deviled eggs. These had to be some of the worst ones I have ever eaten. Rubbery almost to the point I thought maybe they had been frozen. And the filling was just this little squeeze of blended yolk not much flavor. Had the smoked almonds which were a bit too salty but overall good. Caution they are hot when you get them and you do not realize it until you get them in your hand . The thing I do not understand is the single stall bathroom concept - several places do this now and unless you have several of them available it is frustrating - especially for women. Here there's one for women and one for men but the size of each of these bathrooms are so huge you could easily add two or three stalls. read more

Notwithstanding my friend's gastric distress after eating the beef pile sandwich, I like this place a lot. The barrel-aged Manhattan was outstanding, the woman who served us was patient, friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was relaxing. Not at all what one would expect from a hotel-base gastropub! Couple little things to work on--more local beer, disclose the bacon in the deviled eggs (otherwise yum) and maybe throw a few sweets on the menu. I will be back! read more

Was here for an event with the husband and another friend. Surprised to find this place hidden away form rest of Georgian Terrace, does make it a bit of a hidden gem. Food is cheap, very pub feel, of course limited choices but its really meant to be a hangout place so it serves its purpose well. We had the chicken liver mousse and cheese plate for appetizers - good choice. Also tried the chicken wings and onion soup - loved them. Husband's pizza and friends' pigs in a blanket that is actually made with beef were interesting the way they were made. I believe they have some beers here that are not common in ATL, the husband was placed. They had validated parking as we were here for an event but not sure about parking other days. Since it is close to the Fox would be a nice hangout spot after a show, as long as you dont have to pay the hefty $20 to know where your car is at. read more

Wow! What a find. We live down the street and have meant to stop by for a year or more... Man were we impressed! Besides being very reasonable priced, the drinks were awesome and strong. If you eat- you have to try the jerky and the deviled eggs! We just ordered a bunch of the snacks, and they were all delicious. Also, try the wings. I'm from buffalo originally, so good wings are hard to find in the South... But these wings were AWESOME. TWO THUMBS UP! read more

Hoping it was just an off night since we visited on New Year's Eve. We got there around 5:15pm before they were super busy. Ordered the deviled eggs, pretzel, and the grilled cheese. My Dad's shaved prime rib sandwich came out a good 10 minutes before and he enjoyed the sandwich. My grilled cheese and bacon sandwich consisted of burned bread, barely any cheese and half my sandwich didn't have the bacon that was $3 extra. For $12 a sandwich, I expected more. The pretzel came after we were done eating and the eggs came when we had already asked for the check. The waitress never apologized for the delay. Not impressed. The only plus was the cool ambiance and that it's in the beautiful Georgian Terrace hotel. read more

Cocktails were pretty great, although the Firm Handshake is way too heavy on the Fernet for me. No complaints about the service. The atmosphere is good inside, except for the soundtrack. You would thank that a cocktail bar with the style of ambience they build with the decor would play music to match, but instead the seem to have stolen their music library from any given poppy classic rock station. It came off as weird and mismatched. Otherwise a fun place with very nice drinks, and it's cool that they have a rotating barrel-aged cocktail.
