The Southern Gentleman is located on the second floor of a shopping complex in a modern, stylish space. The restaurant features a centrally located bar with tables arranged around the perimeter, creating a lively yet comfortable atmosphere. We were greeted with genuine enthusiasm, and our hostess maintained that warm, positive attitude throughout our visit. She was an absolute delight and made us feel very welcome. We started with the assorted house pickles and the fried green tomatoes, and both were excellent. Every dish we ordered was delicious, including the shrimp and grits, pork chop, grit cake, and the key lime pie for dessert. Everything was well prepared and full of flavor. Overall, The Southern Gentleman delivered great food, friendly service, and a pleasant atmosphere. It's a wonderful place for a meal, and I would definitely return.

Cute establishment and good service. Our vendor picked this restaurant and I'm not a big southern food fan. The cappuccino martini was creamy and delicious. The fried chicken was too well done. Everything was just a bit too heavy for my liking, but that's southern food, right? I wish there were a few lighter options on the menu. I loved the giant round table we dined at.

Came for brunch on a Saturday morning at 11am. No problem getting seated right away but by the time we were leaving there was a wait so definitely get there early or make reservations on weekends. The portion size was surprisingly very large for both of our meals. We ordered the Southern Fried Chicken & Country Skillet Cake and the Classic Double Patty Cheeseburger. To our surprise the country skillet cake under the chicken was a very large but good tasting corn bread. Overall nice restaurant with inside and outside dining with good tasting food and service.

Southern Gentleman made for a fantastic Friday date night! My partner made our reservation same-day and we managed to get beautiful patio seating for two just before golden hour. We started the meal with a seasonal Sam Adams and their house Old Fashioned. I found the cocktail to be well mixed. As starters, we ordered Pork Belly skewers, hush puppies, and the pimento cheese hand pies. The pork belly skewers were the star of the show - perfectly tender and covered in a delicious sweet/savory sauce. The hush puppies were massive and sat on a sweeter sauce, I wish that there was more sauce for the hush puppies as they naturally veer a bit drier but they were still good. I honestly poured a little of the hand pies side jam sauce on them. The pimento hand pies felt like an ode to a crab Rangoon with a yummy Grammy jam flare. As our main we split the pot roast and a side of their mac and cheese. The pot roast was no-knife-needed. So tender and paired well with rainbow carrots, mashed potatoes, and a yummy sauce. The Mac and cheese though. Ooooooo that was soooo good. My partner basically claimed it the second it hit the table. Would definitely go back just for the Mac and cheese and pork belly app! The staff were very kind and helpful - loved their attentiveness!

I got the butter milk fried chicken and beet salad The beet salad was delicious. However, I could've skipped the buttermilk fried chicken. The buttermilk fried chicken skin was a bit soggy. They deboned the chicken. The cornbread with sweet potato was dense sweet delicious for dessert. Service was average beautiful ambience perfect for a date or girls hanging out.

Food was ok, chicken was a bit salty. The sweet potato bread was a nice balance. Smoked Gouda Mac & cheese was good too. Their drinks are pretty good. My server James was excellent. The ambiance is nice, very masculine.

It was a great experience with good food and service. Cocktails and drinks were made perfect. We had a great sample of southern fare that was elevated just a notch - not losing any of the southern soul. Welcoming atmosphere that was decorated beautifully with the lighted bar that drew your attention in the middle.

Came here for a team outing based on a recommendation from a colleague. This is definitely a nice restaurant that prides itself on its service and food. Staff and Service: - All of the staff were very nice and accommodating Food and Drinks: - Strawberry Lemonade: refreshing - Sweet Potato Cornbread: this was so delicious. As someone who loves sweet potato, I could have eaten a whole serving of this if I wasn't sharing with others. Even my colleague who doesn't like sweet potato went for seconds! - Burger: quite a large burger, so I only ate half (due to having eaten appetizers prior). Flavor and sauce were good, and came with plenty of fries - Deviled Eggs: the seasoning on this was flavorful and fun - Red Beans & Rice Cassoulet: thought this was going to be a mediocre basic / simple dish. It was flavorful and I would have eaten more if there weren't so many other appetizers - Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese: another delicious appetizer that was full of flavor and creamy Miscellaneous: - This restaurant makes it easy to do family style if that's your vibe - lots of appetizers to choose from and share - Parking available via parking lots and street parking - This restaurant is located on the second floor and can be accessed via an elevator - Good for small and large groups (there were about 10 in our group and we had a private space. We also saw a party using the whole outside space - Indoor and outdoor dining available

My first time trying out this fine establishment and it did not disappoint. Saturday brunch and drink menu was excellent. We started with the hush puppies, never had such amazing hush puppies super tasty. The entrees were also so good and honestly the wait wasn't bad considering it was a full house. Our server was very nice and attentive and the atmosphere was great! I will definitely be coming back for dinner! Yall must try Southern Gentleman

Celebrating a birthday with a party of 11. The hostess got us seated right away and Brandon our server introduced himself and took drink orders. We also ordered some appetizers for the table. We had a fantastic evening! Service was top notch. Brandon took care of every need, checked on us often and made sure we had everything we needed. He was friendly, energetic and engaged even while waiting on several other tables. Our food was delicious! Portions were generous and everyone enjoyed their meals. We have been customers here several times over the years and this restaurant is a gem!

This place embodies the name giving upper class southern vibes. From the staffing, to the menu, to the venue. A great place for a clean take to the comfort foods we enjoy with our families and for craft cocktails we probably couldn't make taste as good at home haha. I appreciate our server Brandon for recommending great options for our Sunday Brunch meal. Im a sucker for a good Gin Cosmo and they elevated it with simply using White Cranberry juice. I also ordered the White Cheddar Hush Puppies as a started and the Bacon Egg and Cheese Croissantwitch for my entree. Im definitely coming back for a dinner service one day!

Wow! This restaurant is aesthetically beautiful- it is bright with high ceilings and modern yet comfy decor. I have high praise for the food as well. My friend and I were not that hungry but really wanted to check this place out for her birthday so we ordered a bunch of appetizers. We had hushpuppies with a goat chees dipping sauce, some gumbo, and some pork belly with homemade pickled cabbage. Everything was absolutely delicious! For dessert, the kitchen gave my friend a sweet potato pie which our waiter advised may be featured on their fall menu. I grew up on the west coast , and even where I live in texas you never see sweet potato pie at restaurants. That pie tasted just like my grandma's- and she is from Alabama. Wow. It was SO good and i found myself tearing up because this pie made me miss her...when a dish can move you to nostalgia and tears, you know there is something special going on in that kitchen! I highly recommend coming here to have some modern twists on comfort food- and comfort food that are untouched cause they are perfect the way it is. Loved everything about this restaurant!

My sister picked this restaurant the evening of July 4th, it was in Buckhead somewhere. The name of restaurant sounds a lot like a gentleman club but it is indeed just food and spirits. It is 2nd floor, trendy hip spot. The menu is a bit limited on entrees but enough to have some variety. I was looking for something healthy low on calories and was drawn to cabbage steak w cauliflower purée. In my minds eye I pictured the cabbage shaped into a steak size but it was more like a head of cabbage in a fourth with a sharp steak knife. You can't dress up cabbage much but the accompanying purée helped. The sweet potato grit cake was delicious w a small side of cooked spinach I think. I would not get a cabbage steak again but it's good that I know what to expect now. My service was fine except the server nearly gave me a ribeye when I said cabbage steak. I had to run him down to correct the error. IMO for me it would be a nice spot for drinks and dessert or appetizers.

At our server's recommendation I ordered the Georgia Fried Chicken and I was supe happy with it. The chicken was excellently cooked and the hot honey (really more honey than hot) was a great addition. The Brussels sprouts were outstanding! The Asian inspired flavor made the dish. The Mac and cheese was good, but I like a lot more solid cheese rather than cheese sauce, which this one had. My wife was very satisfied with the Bistro Steak Sandwich. She loved the bread the sandwich came in. The one bite of steak I had was good, but I could have used a touch more salt. She thought it was seasoned perfectly. Food: All of the women at the table did the prix fixe menu which was an amazing deal that they offer I believe on Fridays and Saturdays. For the 4 courses you get, it is well worth the price and honestly a great deal for a date night if you have someone you want to impress :) Everything was phenomenal. The crab cake was full of meaty crab, the lobster bisque was velvety and creamy, the ginger duck steak was cooked perfectly and though I can't remember the dessert I got, likely because I was stuffed from the other courses, I'm sure it was delicious too. The menu was plentiful with great choices and it's honestly a whole lot of food! Drinks: This is the only thing I'd say wasn't my favorite. Food: 5/5 We decided to try a leisurely lunch. The menu is not large, but it has enough variety to be interesting. Everything we tried was delicious. The smoked salmon appetizer portion was large, but the best part was the great flavor. I can see why this choice has been on the menu for years. The Vidalia onion soup will be a surprise for the non-Georgians who expect it to be similar to a savory beef broth like French onion soup. Georgia's onions from the Vidalia area are sweet and tasty enough to carry the soup without the help of a meat broth and the green pesto sauce offers a nice additional touch. The salmon on fresh salad was done perfectly. The panka-crusted cod with mashed potatoes and spinach was outstanding. Both were seasoned so lightly that the true flavors shone through. The portions were generous enough that dessert at the time would have been too much, but others can do as we did and take home one of the dessert choices. Next time we plan to try their sandwiches which looked yummy at other tables. Service : 5/5 Service was excellent from the pleasant greeting, through the entire meal. That review still stands for what it was -- but this is about what happened next. About 3-4 months ago, I stopped in after work wearing medical scrubs and clogs. The hostess turned me away at the door, citing what she called a dress code. Fine -- except I could clearly see guests already seated inside wearing sandals. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told it was a "strict policy" and offered a to-go order instead. No explanation for the double standard. No accountability. Just a dismissal. I don't throw around the word "profiling" lightly. But when enforcement is this inconsistent, it's hard to arrive at any other conclusion. The food is good. The servers have always been great. But management completely dropped the ball, and that's enough for me to walk away for good.

Couldn't have been happier with our choice. Reviews I'd seen online mentioned parking is a bit limited and that the restaurant is frequently busy. So we were prepared for that even though we were going on a Thursday mid morning. I think there was an influx of people celebrating graduations because it was in fact very busy. However we got very lucky with parking and happened to come in right as someone was leaving. I was sure we would have a wait for a table, which of course would have been fine, but actually we were seated immediately! Which was super nice and unexpected. The atmosphere is bustling but not in a bad way. The restaurant itself is adorable and has a lot of character. It feels like you're having breakfast at an old friend's house. The service was great and our food came out in a very reasonable amount of time. I ordered a specialty coffee, I believe it was the almond joy cold brew, and it was delicious. Strong, which is how I like it and not overly sweet. I ordered the chicken biscuit on the waiter's recommendation and it was absolutely the best fried chicken I've ever had. Juicy and crispy. My husband ordered the pimento cheese omelette and was very happy with it, the bacon was thick cut and smoky and flavorful. The pimento cheese grits that came on the side for me were also a stand out, such great flavor. The biscuits are fantastic and the blueberry basil jam that came with my husband's meal was such a nice touch. We will absolutely make a point to come back to Buttermilk Kitchen next time we visit the Atlanta area.

TL;DR: Super cute spot with decent breakfast offerings and great staff. Don't go out of your way to…read morecome, but worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood. First things first: the Chicken Biscuit. Buttermilk Kitchen's biscuit is on the crunchy, honey-flavored side. I personally prefer fluffier, more buttery biscuits, so this one wasn't my favorite. That aside, the chicken was crispy and well-seasoned and paired well with the cheese grits. If you ever wanted a dry, crunchy version of Homegrown's Comfy Chicken Biscuit, come give this a shot. I also tried the Hash Bowl, which was a bit underwhelming. It was a *lot* of potatoes compared to the eggs and bacon bits, and there wasn't a lot of seasoning other than the bacon. Would rather recommend one of the other options if you end up visiting. The drinks are good as well, would recommend the matcha latte (not too sweet!) and the French Press coffee.
