I've been here twice and loved the menu and the ambiance. It has an underground prohibition thing going, and is tucked away under the Georgian Terrace Hotel. It's a great place to go for just drinks, small plates, or a full meal. A friend and I split the large cheese plate and each had a sandwich, which was plenty of food. I'm usually more of a beer/wine than a mixed drink kind of gal, but the Garden Party was delicious. read more

Had to give it three stars because the bartender was a little rude. My wife was trying to decide on a drink and asked him if there was something he particularly liked on the menu that was good and he flippantly said, "Yeah, all of them. That's why we have a menu." Other patrons came into the bar to order food to go because there wasn't anywhere to sit in the bar and after 30 minutes asked if their food was coming and instead of saying, Hey, I'll go check on your order for you. Their philosophy of "seating yourself" doesn't work well when there are two entrances, no real line, and no guidance by a front-of-house employee. After waiting an hour for a place to sit, the two of us finally sat at the end of a table with 4 other people. The meat and cheese selection is subpar with Gouda, Parmesan, salami, and what seemed like prepackaged, water-added, grocery store ham. The customer service is atrocious, especially at the bar, where the bartender is likely to condescendingly tell you how to order a drink after you've ordered it the way you want it. Came to visit our son at College. Stayed at the hotel next door, it was 10:30 pm and didn't know where to go to get a bite. We walked into this little place and loved it. We had the grill cheese- delicious and the pretzel sticks with their cheese dipping sauce- also delicious. I loved the P&P special drink only $6 a glass, I had two. I loved this place so much we went back the next night at 11 we had the same drink and had the French bread pizza and hummus this time. Can't wait to go back. read more

Dark, underground, classy, but slightly industrial, old-timey feel. Accessible through the Georgian Terrace Hotel (go in, make a right and head downstairs) or from Ponce (look for the tiny P&P) sign. Decent wines by the glass, but more importantly, delicious cocktails. My new favorite, "The Bright Flash" - has a genius mix of tequila, campari, grapefruit juice, and I'm not sure what all else, but somehow is magically, perfectly bitter and sweet...I can't wait to go back for another. Too bad I live out of state...Haven't had much food there and the menu is fairly limited (sandwiches, appetizers, french bread pizzas), but the pretzel breadsticks with cheese dipping sauce are pretty fantastic. A great spot for a pre-snack and beverage before a show at The Fox Theater. It is a cross the street in the lower level of The Georgian Terrace. It has a hip speak easy vibe, like you are in a secret place which adds to the fun. The deviled eggs were one of my favorites on the menu. read more

You could almost miss P&P because the outside sign is so subtle - a throwback, orange lighted fixture above the door. The interior is very pretty, lots of exposed brick and high, wooden tables. Had yummy drinks (professor's speculation, why yes I'd like another!) and a good but not overfilling dinner - tomato soup, blue cheese slaw and bratwurst. My friend had the pretzels and grilled prosciutto sandwich with fig. The brat was probably the least satisfying, but still excellent (too much bread, not enough brat, no mustard, good saurkraut). Super tasty cocktails. They are definitely high quality. The food is not typical bar food. It has a nice modern feel but not over the top.

The drinks here are good, food is pretty dull. The atmosphere is nice for catching up with a friend or starting the night. The bar draws a lot of hotel guests and doesn't have a very Atlanta feel to it. I really want to love this place. It's in my neighborhood and is definitely a welcome addition to Midtown bars. I do like the ambiance and the cocktails. The food I've sampled is overall solid. Both times I've come here, however, the service has been spotty to say the least. Both times, it started strong, but then the waiter and waitress I had disappeared and took forever to get our check. The last time I went, I was with a 5 other friends and the waitress disappeared for AT LEAST 45 minutes (and no, it was not just that busy... the entire place was maybe half full) and had given herself 18% gratuity already! If service can improve, this place will be awesome... for now, it's got promise. read more

Went there for the first time a few nights ago with a group of friends. Proof and Provision is a very cool looking winter/late night bar. The service on the other hand was beyond disappointing. It took way too long to get our drinks and they came out about 5 minutes apart...so 5 out of the 6 of us had our drink at least 5-10 minutes before the 6th friend. One person in our group actually got up to check on the status with the bartender.....maybe we just went on a bad night or it was our particular waitress but terrible service with only 1 bartender that took forever which was VERY disappointing. read more

Terrible service . We had 9 people and they squeezed us in a table for 6 there were empty 4 seat tables that could have been put together . One person waited 15 minutes for his drink after the 15 minute wait to order it . One person never got his sandwich he waited 40 mins for . They brought the food out sporadically so he was stuck anticipating His food would be bext . When we complained at the end the manager was rude and asked " and you all waited until you seen the check before you complained ?" Imposing we were looking for a free meal . This place is great. Location Is convenient but parking may be a problem. If you eat Palo you will not have a problem the absolute best beef jerky served in style. The soups are absolutely amazing. Atmosphere is perfect for hanging out and visiting with friends. read more

Our service was terribly slow. Our Dickel Manhattans were great the first round, and tasted like cough syrup the second round. Sent them back, still tasted terrible and the server didn't at all seem to think there was any reason for an apology. When we asked for food after we hadn't seen her for 20 minutes she said the kitchen closed 4 minutes ago. When we got our bill, she added 18% gratuity without telling us. We thought 18% was high considering the poor service and poor drinks. This place is shady, like the other review said. Horrible service. Had to leave without trying the food Cane in on a busy night, hour before showtime at the Fox Theater. Stood at the door for 5 mins and let multiple people walk by us before being told it was seat yourself. Main restaurant was full, so at the recommendation of a guy that seemed like the manager, the 3 of us decided to sit at the bar top table in the foyer next to a party of 2 that had food. Waited for 15-20 mins before we approached a waitress, who turned to the manager and said she was not taking our table anymore. We looked to him for a solution and he just blew us off and walked away. Ended up at subway because of the time we spent walking and waiting. Gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the food we saw looked decent. Good times. read more

The bar was amazing. I was a staying at The Georgian Terrace for a training and found my way down to the P & P. The bartender is definitely a mixologist, who had fresh ingredients (they make their own hops) at his disposal. On atmosphere alone, this place is an easy five stars. The drink selection is fantastic and it's just a cool "underground" bar, and the service was lively and fun. The food however, lacks a lot to be desired and unfortunately for me I went when I was hungry. I decided to try their tomato soup ($5) and the grilled cheese with bacon ($12). The soup was thick like marinara sauce and tasted like canned tomatoes. It was supposed to have a puff pastry on top but what I had was more like a chewy biscuit with a stale flavor. The grilled cheese of possible, was worse. For 12 dollars I would expect? I don't know? Something I didn't get. It was flat and largely burnt. It was supposed to have truffle spread but I tasted no truffle (or much of anything else) which was disappointing as I love truffle. I couldn't even finish the sand which or the soup. The champagne was nice, but over all for nearly $40 after tip, I left largely disappointed. read more

Wanting a bite to eat before seeing "Mamma Mia!" at The Fox Theatre across the street, Proof and Provision turned out to be an excellent choice! I've enjoyed libations and bar snacks there before, but never a full meal. Being a show night, the restaurant was packed. We opted to sit at the bar, and I'm so glad we did! Justin, the mixologist, is direct, yet somehow manages to pull off a pleasant disposition. We were served immediately and in plenty of time to make our show. We enjoyed a selection of charcuterie...all of it amazing! Even the toasted, sliced baguette was amazing. For our entree we enjoyed open-faced sliced prime rib sandwiches. Again...AMAZING! I don't eat a lot of red meat, I really don't, but was craving it last night. I'm so glad it was so incredibly and wonderfully delicious! Oh, and Justin makes a great martini, as well. You can also valet your car when dining there...up to three hours are complimentary. read more

This one is tough to write. I've been to Proof and Provision many times before and enjoyed my experience each time (which is why they are getting an extra star). Last night, like always, we decided to stop in for dinner before a show at The Fox. We arrived about 6:30 p.m., an hour before our 7:30 p.m. showtime, complete orders ready to go. After about 20 minutes of wait time we were greeted by our server and we placed our orders right away. She was not polite and did not apologize for the delay, but we brushed it off because it did truly seem like they were understaffed and she was running around. Our drinks, appetizer and my entree came out around 7:05 p.m., but my fiance didn't get his meal. We stopped the server about 5 minutes later and she absolutely acted as if we were crazy to point out we were still waiting on one entree. She was simply like I know you ordered it, it's coming (basically a silent "dumbass" was implied). No apologies and after she continued to not make eye contact with our table and just walk on by for the next 10 minutes. Finally at 7:20 p.m. as our server proceeded to zoom by us again, my fiance stopped her, debit card ready, and simply asked that she take his entree off check and run the card since we had to get going. Mind you we asked completely kindly, because after spending many years as servers ourselves, we get that shit happens, he was going to eat a hot dog at The Fox, and we were going to continue to enjoy our evening. The waitress snatched his card, stomped one foot out and scolded us loudly enough for the next table to both hear and turn by saying "you know you have 10 minutes and you ONLY have to get across the street right?!?" Again, no apology and a public scolding. She then proceeded to stomp off. She brought back our check silently and we gather our things to make the show (late). As we are leaving I saw what appeared to be a manager walk out with what appeared to be our entree (it's 7:25 p.m. at this point), and I overheard the waitress say "I can still sell it" and drop the pizza off at another table. You are right, I guess we should have stayed, we had plenty of time after all. read more

I almost feel bad giving this place one star because it has great potential that is being squandered by awful employees. Location = great. Ambiance = ok Food = very good Service = horrendous! Mostly I have been here many times over the past year (it is on my block) and my experiences ranged from "awesome" to "worst restaurant experience of my life" and the difference hangs on one thing, the bartender. There are two main bartenders, Alex and Nate. Alex is amazing, great customer service and product knowledge while still holding true to the speakeasy vibe. Nate, on the other hand, is one of the rudest, most complacent, and incompetent barmen I have ever witnessed. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe he was just having a bad night the first time, so I sat at his bar again, even more terrible than the last time. Offenses ranging from a 45 minute wait for my tab while he watched tv with his back to customers, to waiting 30 mins for a menu I asked for when I sat down (again, watching tv; I ended up just not eating), to rudely criticizing the drink order of the lady sitting next to me, to yelling across the room at some guy I guess he knew and spitting in my drink in the process, to simply being too sloppy to perform, (btw, all of these things happened on slow week nights). read more

The snacks are excellent, but the drinks are divine. Upon seeing a tequila cocktail with tamarind-cola syrup on the menu, I asked if they could do something similar with mezcal. The excellent waitress brought the skilled and accommodating bartender to our table, and he gently explained to me that this was perhaps not exactly what I was looking for. However, after a few questions, he invented a new drink that I believe should be on the full time menu of any such establishment. He called it "a fun take on a Blood and Sand cocktail", but it was so much more than that. Smokey and sour, meaty yet refined. That drink made my night, and my entire week, and my classy wife immediately regretted her choice of a Hemingway daquiri. Though certainly delicious, the daquiri was nothing compared to the bartender's on the spot invention, so we ordered more. The recipe never wavered and each iteration was as impeccably true to itself as ever. Kudos to P&P. We'll be back again. read more

We went around 9:30 on a Saturday night and it was virtually empty; there were a few groups and couples at the bar. Our bartender said it was an usually slow night. The space is unpretentious and inviting. And the crisp cool air was refreshing after walking several blocks in the heat. I had heard good things about the Such Sweet Breath cocktail and it was indeed delicious. My boyfriend ordered an absolute on the rocks, however our bartender failed to inform him they don't carry it and assumed a different kind would suffice. My boyfriend immediately noticed in wasn't absolute. The bartender was unapologetic at first but made right by removing the drink (which wasn't drunk) from our tab. Despite this snafu, we'll definitely return. We're always looking for great new local bars and P&P seems like it could fit the bill. read more
