Let me start by saying: go check it out! There are tons of great things about this place but I wasn't super impressed by the food. The location and the space is great. The service is stellar. There are tv's and cool tables but the food is just okay/average. Got the deviled eggs which lacked some flavor. The wings were a hit with my BF but not with me. The BBQ chicken pizza wasn't bad, definitely soft and had flavor but I expected different or better? Cheese board isn't bad either. Like I said, go see for yourself. Maybe I went on an off night. What a terrible night at this place. Decided on a late dinner after a show at the Fox. Got a table and ordered. Only 2 of us got our drinks and the appetizers came and we had no water, plates or napkins. The waiter NEVER came back to our table. Finally flagged down manager and got my drink and waters. We had then been there over an hour. The whole time we were watching people at the bar getting drinks and service. Was informed that they were out of almost everything and only serving a very limited menu. We decided to leave and got our check and they added a 20% tip and refused to remove it. It's ok, but WHATEVER you do, DON'T go right before a show at the Fox. They switch to "tapas style" meaning they only bring the food out as it's ready. That's code for...we don't know how to handle the 75 people we have in here so we will wing it. Got one prime rib sandwich in 10 minutes. It was pretty good. Hubby and I shared it. We got our deviled eggs at 20 minutes (not good at all...I make better deviled eggs and I don't cook all that much.) Got our 2nd prime rib sandwich at 35 minutes. We also shared it. Never did get the pretzels we ordered until we were walking out the door to the show. I stuffed them in my purse and then they were confiscated at the door to the theatre. You can't make his stuff up! This would be ok if we weren't in a hurry. But who has time for OK when there's so many other great options in this town. read more

This is a cool place to pop into for a happy hour, a quick date, or for appetizers. Every appetizer we ordered was very yummy. We had the soft pretzels with some type of beer cheese (which were my favorite) and then we had the cauliflower that was healthier but still great! The only thing we were crazy about, was the nan and hummus. We had two orders of nan but the hummus was kind of funky. I think it was black olive hummus and it wasn't that great. I would NOT order that type of hummus. Thankfully I think the hummus flavors change monthly or weekly. They made me an interesting mocktail that I enjoyed and my sister loved her wine! We had just finished eating but wanted a night cap before heading back to our hotel. Right across the street from Publik Draft House in the basement of the hotel is Proof and Provisions. You can cut through the hotel or head in the side door down the stairs. An orange cube sign marks the spot. It is a dimly lit spot with brick and wrought iron fixtures. The TVs are in mute and the crowd tends to keep things at a temperate buzz. The provisions are more like bar bites: pretzels, roasted cauliflower, seasons almonds, pizza. The proofs are a nice variety with a significant variety of mules (their speciality). I got a dark and stormy Mule with rum and their house made ginger beer. The ginger beer had a nice undertone to it and paired well with the rum. I tasted licorice as well. It was a well-crafted drink and if I was ever in Atlanta again I would make an effort to go back. read more

I have been here before and the food was great and service was good but went here before a show this week and we ended up having to cancel our food order after nearly an hour so we would make the show. Grilled cheese sandwich and a ham & cheese sandwich...not difficult! Kitchen wasn't prepped for the preshow crowds. The server was nice and brought additional hummus free of charge to try and make up for it but sucks to go to a show hungry. Located in the basement of the Georgian Terrace Hotel, only locatable by the internally illuminated "P" light over a small staircase leading downstairs lies Proof and Provision, a bar that is definitely has its own feel and stamp on the block it sits on. I have been to Proof and Provision on multiple occasions, but never for the food...always for the cocktails. Speaking of cocktails, the bar makes some damn good ones! Priding themselves on specialty drinks, the bartenders spend ample time putting together a cocktail that not only touches your wallet, but also the deepest trenches of your taste buds. What does that fancy and somewhat erotic sentence mean? They have fancy, super tasty and kind of expensive cocktails...but they are super worth it. Once you walk downstairs and into the large double doors to get into the place, you are greeted by lots of wood, a big bar, a few TV's and normally a great staff member ready to seat you wherever an open seat is available or wherever your heart desires. Overall, I have enjoyed myself when I have visited P & P. I most certainly need to partake in some of the featured cuisine here and when I do, you best believe this review will be updated quicker than the waitresses here can recommend a specialty cocktail! read more

The food, drinks, service and prices here are really more of a 3.5 star place for me, but any evening that starts with me getting to live out my "Gone With the Wind" fan fantasies by pulling up to the valet at the Georgian Terrace should get bumped at *least* half a star. Once you valet (P&P will validate for three hours), head down the big stairs immediately inside the hotel entrance to reach Proof and Provision. The hotel is classically beautiful, but the interior of this watering hole is speakeasy cool, and it actually reminds me somewhat of Orsmby's, another of my favorite spots (before it was discovered by the fratastic crowd at least), minus the games. It had a good crowd, but wasn't so loud that you couldn't have a conversation with your companions. Seating was plentiful, even around 10pm on a Friday night, and we quickly settled on glasses of the fruity yet very strong rum punch at a very reasonable $6 a glass. Though the color and stated contents of the drink might lead you to think it's akin to something made with everclear you used to mix in a giant rubbermaid container in college, the rum punch here is really quite a delicious and delicately flavored drink that isn't too sweet at all. Plus, hey, it's $6, and a cocktail at that price in a Midtown hotel bar is remarkable on its own. For food, we samples the almonds (fine), the pretzels (mmm, cheese dip), and the French onion soup (unremarkable and lacking in cheese). The snacks were all good, but I would eat dinner before you come, as the menu is quite small. The food here was subpar, especially for the price - I don't mind paying for great food in the slightest, but paying for mediocre food is highly annoying. Before a show at the Fox, we stopped for a snack and had a cheese plate that was mediocre at best, a cauliflower au gratin appetizer that was quite undercooked and reminiscent of Velveeta, and chicken wings that while 3 sections and quite large, seemed to have no meat on them and rubbery, fatty skin. If you have 15-20 items on your menu, you need to nail them. The location is great, the waitress was super friendly, and the atmosphere was quite cool. This place has a ton of potential, however without good food, there are way too many other options nearby. read more

Nicely hidden in the hotel where the Livingston is at that you can access from the hotel or street. The restaurant's branding and atmosphere is awesome. They are known for their bar bites. We tried the deviled eggs, pretzel, and the bacon grilled cheese sandwich. All were awesome, but our most favorite was the grilled cheese, the best I've had. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were very friendly and attentivive. They have a special cocktail that changes nightly for $6. It's hand crafted and very unique, I suggest trying one as well if you like the ingredients. I work a block away so when it comes to parking I can't give any advice on where to park. But there is parking on 3rd and 4th (for free) that's pretty easy to squeeze in. read more

"You smell like...ripe red plums and...grilled cheese sandwiches." -- The Wedding Planner (2001) What a fabulous experience. My girl friends and I wanted a place to sip cocktails and have some tasty bites and after much debate, we decided on P&P. The service was great - she was attentive, knowledgable and when we asked about specials she recommended the whisky punch. So we ordered 3 (the 4th went with a bottle of wine). This was a fruity concoction, packed with delicious whisky and chunks of fruit (strawberries, raspberries, blood oranges, and fresh Georgia peaches). It was so refreshing and delightful - we had to get a second round. As for the food, we certainly made our way through the menu. We started with a meat platter (4 different kinds) and a cheese platter (also 4 different kinds). Each came with crispy bread. The meats came with pickles and the cheese with some Emily J's Triple Berry jam. I'm always happy with a platter of meats and cheeses. Next up was the deviled eggs - touted as a little bit better than gramma's. They were pretty good, but not my favorite of the night. We moved on to the confit chicken wings, which were the perfect blend of sweet and sour paired with the succulent chicken. We also tried the Pig in a Blanket - all beef hot dogs in a potato dough. Served in a cute foil wrapper like you were at the ballpark. They also make their own house mustard and ketchup - the mustard made these delicious. I really liked the hot dogs, but was not a fan of the "blankets." My favorite of the night, and probably the best grilled cheese in the city... Chef Z's Grilled Cheese - it is a mix of fontina, a pecorino romano spread, and truffle butter - adding the bourbon barrel bacon. OMG. there was even cheese on the bread - this is no joke the best cheese sandwich ever. It was like dying and going to cheese heaven with a little pork fast thrown in for good measure. I dig this spot. It's got a good bar vibe. Not quite a pub, but not quite as trendy/overdone looking as the delicious craft cocktails they serve up. I like the brick - keeps it simple. The menu had a huge variety. of cocktails and snacks. I didn't get a chance to eat anything, but if you are waiting on a show at the Fox or Churchhill, I would highly recommend walking over here first to have a pre show drink. read more

I decided to check out this place earlier this week with a friend. I'm definitely a fan. It is located in the basement of the Georgian Terrace. You get three free hours of parking with the hotel valet. Just tell them that you are going to Proof and Provision. The service was excellent. Jason L. was our server and was very knowledgeable about the menu, nightly specials and the drinks. We tried lots of different things on the food menu: 3 meat plate, 3 cheese plate, baked oyster special (baked oysters with spinach, artichoke and lots of parmesan cheese), pretzel and pigs in a blanket. The food is probably 3 stars while the service, drinks and atmosphere are 4. We also tried a variety of drinks and all were really good. The place wasn't too crowded and not too noisy. It's a great location for a quick bite to eat and drink before going to something at the Fox. read more

What a chill place! It's in the lower level of the Georgian terrace hotel. It has such a nice vibe. Kind of like a speakeasy. I love the menu. The drinks. The people and the energy. I got the PP punch which was sangria. YUM! I also got the hot pretzel with cheese. It was different than I thought it was going to be since it was a stick. But good none the less. Their drink menu is different with drinks like the walking dead, with mezcal and red chili's. I saw someone get the wings and I think next time I will come here for that. I can't say one bad thing about this place. The bartender was super sweet and conversational. Check this place out if you are in the area. Especially cool to go before a show at the Fox! I normally like this place but on Wednesday I was truly disappointed. P&P is part of the Georgian Hotel, and like the Livingston your ticket can be validated for the garage parking. As we were about to leave I gave my parking ticket to an employee like usual to get validated, to be told by my server a few minutes "sorry we don't validate during fox shows". I asked when did this start she said since May 1st. I told her how would someone know of the new policy she stated it's on their website - which is a not true. I asked for the manager, he tried to explained to me that it's a new policy and it's posted. I asked him to show me where... and we walked towards the front where there was no sign. I asked him multiple times where is the policy, and all I recieved was patronizing smirk and the same statement it's the policy for all Fox shows and it's posted. So as a regular patron it is now my responsibility to follow the Fox schedule? Or just the black shows at the Fox. I say this because as soon as we got there we were asked how was the show? We told one of the servers we didn't go to the show, but believe they're getting out as we saw a few ppl in the parking lot. Our server was more concerned about the "other" then us, as we had to flag her down to get a food order in which she said "oh you want to eat?". We had to flag her down again to get silverware and a napkin as I guess we were suppose to eat with our fingers. Please see photos there is no signs posted anywhere... and think this a rule only applies when there are "black/urban" shows at The Fox and for a nice establishment in a gorgeous building of the Georgian Hotel it's a shame you're stereotyping regular patrons. read more

Interesting, unique, and very cute. Popped in on Friday night for birthday drinks and had a good experience. The location is cool-basement of the Georgian Terrace. Drinks were good and the service was even better. The food looked interesting too. My boyfriend got some wings which I tried and they had an odd taste that I can't quite describe. Needless to say, I will not be ordering them again. I would like to go back and try some of the other small plate items. Important note: Valet is free for three hours. Maybe not all hat and no cattle as they say, but certainly wearing a big hat with only a few poor old steers in the corners. The bar staff is aloof, fake bro-ish, and to be fair, perhaps overworked on busy nights. The result regardless is poor service. The hardwood smoked almonds were hard and stale--they would suffice on an airline flight but not as a supposed star attraction at a bar. The Proof and Provision in Savannah is still rough around the edges (a bartender who barely knew how to make a Sazerac, in but one example*) but has class at least. This one, however, seems to bank on its prime spot in a hip hotel in a good location in midtown Atlanta. The drinks, my old fashioned at least, also was not too impressive. The space is nice enough but pretty much screaming that it is a retro speakeasy type affair--trying just a bit too hard: problem is, seems the bartenders and kitchen staff are in contrast not trying hard enough. *Yes, I'm hard about drinks. I have written articles on cocktails and Madeira. Aloof, incompetent, patronizing, or otherwise inept bartenders will get my full wrath. I understand they have at times a very difficult job, but I also understand the expectations we fairly can have of that position. read more

Proof and provision is a favorite of ours to go to before shows at the fox theater. They have a great assortment of french bread pizzas, appetizers, and fun cocktails. They don't take reservations, which can provide some problems with there's a show across the street, but you can usually find a spot at the bar, if you are flexible. This last time we went we had the four cheese French bread pizza, and for drinks the doctor pimiento and burning bush. Amazing you really can't go wrong with any food choice. read more

This was a cool place. It was somewhat underground. Literally. From the outside, you'll see stairs leading downwards with a structure hanging over the entrance with the letter(s) "P" on it. The music they had varied from the 80's to 90's and all over when I did pay attention to it. Towards the end when they're about to close (2 AM), there will be random music playing (i.e. holiday songs). Just letting you know... The kitchen will be open pretty late so there was munchies to sandwiches that can be ordered. Our group tried the grilled cheese sandwich, and man was that thing super salty. Good but too much sodium. I think the kitchen closes at 11 PM so order up then drink. Or order AND drink. :) The waitress that tended to us throughout the night was sweet and helpful. The Shuman's punch they had had a unique taste. It had a small spice hint to it. It's like a subtle hint of cinnamon or something like it. Needless to say, I wasn't fond of it so I asked for another drink. The sour whiskey I got in lieu of this was good though. It wasn't on the menu so just ask for it. The long island was strong according to the girls. They definitely got their money's worth since this was super concentrated. Just don't get it towards the end of the night. Lol. The purple chupacabra was interesting as everyone took a sample. It indeed had a light purple color to it. As for the taste, I can't speak too much on this since I didn't sample it. I'd been meaning to check out P&P for a while after hearing good things about their cocktails from a friend. Then, when I read an AJC food blog about the best grilled cheeses in the city and P&P was included, I was sold. I ordered the Firm Handshake cocktail (rye, fernet, simple syrup, and bitters) and my dinner date ordered a glass of wine. Obviously it takes longer to make a cocktail than pour a glass of wine, but her drink came out probably 10 minutes before mine. For our second round, the wait for my drink was even longer. My drink was really delicious and well made though. Food wise, I of course ordered the grilled cheese and she got the 4 cheese pizza. Neither was spectacular. The grilled cheese was way too salty, the "barrel aged bacon" was hard to bite into, and instead of being gooey and comforting, it was flat and crispy. I would not order that again. Granted, we were there before a show at the Fox. And granted, every table was full. But I was really disappointed at how slow our orders came out and how unapologetic our server was. I have to give a shout-out to the beautiful Georgian Terrace hotel. So awesome! You can enter P&P either on Ponce (there's a door marked with an orange P&P sign) or through the hotel's main entrance on Peachtree. The interior of the bar was really nice too. The bottom line? I'll check this place out again on a slower night, and I'll probably just get drinks. I don't think P&P is meant to be a dinner spot. Stayed at the Georgian Terrace for a trade show and visited the P&P almost every night. Great, eclectic drink and snack menu. The Old Fashions are wonderful, as are some of their specialty drinks. The bartenders, Amy and Josh, are artists--knowledgeable, quirky, and fun to watch--as well as talk to. Food? Outstanding beef jerky, wings, pretzel, and grilled cheese. Went here because we heard they had a great cheese plate. We couldn't have been more disappointed in everything we had. The "cheese plate" was (no exaggeration) sliced Swiss cheese and some random deli meats served in A BASKET with pickle slices and honey that seemed out of place. The deviled eggs were mediocre at best and the French bread pizza was something a college student would throw together in their dorm room after a long night at the bar. This place is very close to the Fox Theater, and thus very popular before shows. Since this what my experience centered around, note that this review would likely be different if I came at a different time. Our show was at 7:30 on a Thursday, and we got to P&P a little before 6pm. We got one of the last seats, at bar stools by a tiny counter over by the shuffleboard table. The counter was basically too small to put our purses on, much less fit drinks and food alongside. Relatively quickly we were given water and menus, and though we quickly got distracted by shuffleboard, our waitress was pretty attentive and got us our drinks in average time. Then it started getting bad (also very busy for them). When I asked for sand for the shuffleboard table (since it was so slick in parts it was nearly impossible to play) I never got a response. We ordered food (almonds and pizza) 6:20-6:30 timeframe, thinking with quick items like that we'd have no problem (do note they don't really have meals, just snacky/bar food items). About 30 minutes later we asked that at LEAST the almonds come out, as how can those take more than a few minutes? They then came out quickly, but at 7:05 we were worrying about our food and making it to the show. We were told it'd be 5 more minutes. Over 15 minutes later (with less than 15 minutes to our show) we finally got our food (we had gotten the check before that, without even asking, they knew everyone was going to the Fox apparently). Fortunately (or unfortunately) the pizza was tiny and took two seconds to eat, since it reminded me of a slightly better version of the english muffin pizzas my mom made when I was 8. Overall, I liked the atmosphere, and though it wasn't perfect, I'd give it another shot on a different day. But be careful if you're coming here at a busy time. read more

Fine food. :) The Moscow Mule was perfect, the Mint Julep was a dream, and the punch that changes everyday was a delicious, bubbly mix that made my mouth and my intoxication level happy. My favorite foods were the chicken wings and the meat and cheese basket. The pimento and bacon flatbread was tasty but a little burned on the edges. My sister is a huge fan of the cauliflower with cheese dip. Pretty much everything on this menu is a combo of meat, cheese, and bread so if that isn't your thing, you're in the wrong place! Visited after a trip to the Fox as this was right across the street and the Livingston was packed. This bar is located downstairs and is easily missed if you aren't looking for it.
