I really wanted to rate this place higher, but it left me somewhat disappointed. Here are the highlights: The fried lobster bites, mac and cheese, and collard greens were good! Th bites were a smidge over salted, but good nonetheless. The sweet tea definitely did what it was supposed to do. Things that need improvement: The cornbread was served on a bed of honey and drizzled with butter yet it was dry. No doubt reheated. As someone who bakes a beautiful honey butter cornbread, I was unbelievable disappointed, and underwhelmed. Now let's talk service: Absolutely . Train your staff to be attentive. My waitress was sweet, but every time I needed her I had to call someone else to fetch her and she only had two tables. The restaurant was empty otherwise. Hire staff who can regulate their emotions. The bartender was all over the place, cussing, spewing frustrations about another colleague. Then a new bartender came and he was spewing frustrations about the previous bartender. This is inside the Kimpton Hotel We stayed her and decided to have dinner during our stay. I will say it's a super cute vibes at night especially for a date night. It wasn't busy at all on a Thursday night at one point we were the only people downstairs eating area. Service was friendly, but not attentive. We had empty water glasses for some time. It would be different if they were busy. Food was pretty good! The chicken dish didn't have much seasoning or taste, but it was cooked nicely and not dry! We stopped into Hartley Kitchen after a day of shopping in the area. The restaurant is located inside the Shane hotel and always smells great upon entering. We split a steamed bun pork appetizer with pork and a pork chop and it was delicious. The waiter was polite. Afterwards we enjoyed a cocktail at the upstairs lounge. For breakfast, we stopped by here for breakfast / brunch. We wanted to take a little in the city adventure so we headed off and took the MARTA and then walked here. We got seated and service was great. Our waiter was very nice and accommodating. So, what did I order? I got the duck confit. I would say it was super well seasoned, to the point where it got a little bit too salty. But, I mean it's duck confit, so it's sort of given. The dish had a lot of grease from the duck that I wished that there was something more to soak it up. I know it came with potatoes, but I think it didn't hit the spot since it was also pan fried and was also greasy. It also came with a couple of soft boiled eggs. I also shared some pancakes which I enjoyed. Otherwise, overall I thought Hartley was great. We came by here before for a Yelp Elite event, and didn't realize it until we walked through the front door. How time flies! The food was actually pretty good here! We ate here twice for breakfast and once for lunch. For breakfast, I had the bacon egg and cheese croissant with potatoes. The croissant was good, the bacon felt homemade, and the potatoes were perfectly seasoned and crispy! For lunch, I got the blackened salmon with Brussel sprouts and fries. This was also a good meal! Good portion, well seasoned. No complaints really. Service wise, for the most part our servers were good. They were pretty slow even during off peak times, but pretty nice. Stayed at the Kimpton Shane and saw this was their attached restaurant and bar. I stopped there for dinner and drinks as well. The restaurant was never crowded or overly loud and very nice atmosphere to just vibe in. Had to switch twice when I sat down because the tables were very wobbly but was taken care of very quickly by Morgan who was very friendly and attentive the entire time. Ordered the Atlantic Red Snapper which came with black eyed peas and a chorizo clam broth. Collectively the flavors were good overall with a nice crispy skin but both the fish was a bit over cooked and the bed of beans were a bit bland but the clams were perfect. I paired it with a pour of Blanton's on the rocks that came with a very fun king cube of ice that was "Hartley" branded. I stopped by for breakfast where I got the Hartley breakfast (typical eggs, bacon, toast and fruit) which came out quick and was done well but some pieces of melon are a bit over ripe with an almost fermenting/spoiling scent but overall it was still a good meal. The "fresh" orange juice was delicious and indeed tasted squeezed and not generic OJ from a carton. This was a great experience overall that was a good atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and attentive. From a value standpoint, it is on the higher end to be expected from a hotel restaurant and would be a good stop if you are staying there or in the area but not something to go out of the way for. read more

We said we'd like the brunch special. She said help yourself to the buffet. I pulled up the website info and she said that wasn't a thing and she knew nothing about it. I would never have made the reservation had I known it was a buffet - not my thing. So, we had to order from the full menu, which was way pricier and then asked if it would just be cheaper if we ordered a bottle of the same brunch mimosa bubbly vs. paying $20/e for bottomless. She said yes. When the bill arrived, the bottle was $50! $10. more than BOTTOMLESS mimosas would have been. The chef came out and we said the food was good but that the advertising on the website was false, so were were spending a lot more $$$ than we had anticipated. He said he'd "check into that". That was more than two weeks ago; that ad is still on the website (screen cap below). Do better, Klimpton. Such a disappointment. read more

I was excited to check out Hartley Kitchen & Cocktails because of the great reviews. Plus, I was staying at the Kimpton Shane Hotel so it was convenient. I grabbed a seat at the bar and looked through the bar menu. I couldn't eat much on there so I asked for the regular dinner menu. Before I could order, the bartenders let me know they didn't have any salmon which was going to be my choice. But because I wanted something small, they suggested the croquettes and aveline fries. It took almost 30 minutes for my food to be ready so I got it go. I was underwhelmed with the food and service. The space is beautiful though. read more

Needed a convenient place to Center Stage Theatre to have a pre-show dinner, and Hartley fit the bill nicely. Service was fine and food and drinks were excellent. I had Sunday brunch recently at Hartley and it was a nice meal. The restaurant was not at all crowded around noon, so we were seated immediately. The decor skews modern but the seating was plentiful and comfortable. The menu skews heavily to traditional Southern breakfast fare, so I had the biscuits and gravy while my wife had a stack of pancakes. The biscuits were amazing (proper old school "cat heads") while the gravy was good If not memorable. My wife's pancakes were perfect...I definitely had order envy. Service was top notch as our server Tahjila was great and the manager also stopped by to check on us. While I'm not normally one to go for hotel restaurants when I'm near home, I'll be making an exception for Hartley. read more

Good very small breakfast buffet (compared to a bigger resort hotel or downtown luxury type) What they have is well made and there is an omelette station. Not known for coffee. Egg white mini bites with spinach and tomato, cute tiny bits, bacon and potatoes were good. Guests when we were there were mostly people at the hotel but interesting mix of people who seemed to be friends across countries and languages. Best breakfast for me in Atlanta so far because I don't like big traditional breakfasts or just coffee and pastry. read more

I had gone every day and had breakfast and it had been decent. The service is mediocre, but the food was OK except for one day that was a waitress with your locks and she was amazing because the food had been decent. I went down to try the buffet - 2 Thumbs Way down. Literally everything on the buffet was cold that was supposed to be hot. They had bacon and sausage sitting in white grease like it had been in the refrigerator and the thing didn't start heating it up so it was just sitting in white grease it was disgusting. I think there were three things on the buffet out of 10 that were actually warm. Not hot warm. I will have breakfast, but I will never go down for a buffet again if I gotta walk 5 miles I'd do it versus eating here. I will say they did have an omelette in the omelette was OK so if all you want is omelette and fruit for breakfast, you'll be fine. Maybe if you want a salad. But if you're expecting a true delicious buffet, you'll be disappointed. read more

Dined with a few friends on a Friday night and couldn't find much of anything to complain about. It was pretty empty which isn't surprising given that it's brand new and the location. (North end of midtown at the new midtown union development inside the Kimpton hotel). Food was great. We ordered the burger, shrimp and grits, roasted chicken and the skillet cornbread to start. Everyone enjoyed their food and the portions were decent. I wish restaurants gave bigger portions for shrimp and grits considering grits are so cheap- but that's pretty typical. Everyone left satisfied and happy. The service was great and everyone was friendly. Ambiance and vibe was ok. It felt open and airy. Didn't feel quite an intimate as I would have liked given the proximity to the lobby with a lot of light flooding in from that area. Nitpicking here, but I often judge a hotel restaurant based on my ability to forget that I'm actually at a hotel. Overall I recommend. There's also a nice bar onsite as well that offers a great lounge experience. read more

I hope the level of service and quality of food last because tonight was on point! I love a warm welcome and the hostess provided that along with a warm smile. Our server did an excellent job of explaining the various entrees and we decided to try a few starters before sharing the sweet potato agnolotti for our main. The deviled eggs, pork belly bao buns and chicken fried mushrooms all came out quickly. My favorite was the mushroom starter, but they all were delicious. The main entree was a unique combination of sweet potato and cranberry that reminded me of an elevated Thanksgiving dish. I would easily order this again. I have to say management is very lucky to have two awesome and kind people working them! They are a wonderful face for the company!
