First the good. The 6 OZ filet mignon was cooked to perfection and was incredibly tender! Worth every penny. The brussel sprouts side was undercooked but had good flavor. The chef needed to par boil until tender before cooling down... all this before hitting the deep fryer. Flavor was good, but tough and chewy. My 14 OZ Delmonico Ribeye was cooked a perfect medium-rare, had great flavor, and overall was a quality cut of beef. The garlic mashed potatoes were served hot and fluffy, but they were not a stand-out, just your average mashed potatoes. They were real, though... when others uses instant. Props for that. My seared green beans were hot and fresh and tasty and very good. Now the bad..... 1. I called hours in advance and asked about making a reservation and was advised that they don't take reservations. Wrong answer.... yes they do. We waited for about 20 minutes but were in no rush, but we observed a few other couples announcing they had a reservation and they were seated ahead of us..... so whomever answered the phone and advised that Edgers does not take reservations,,,,,, yes you do! 2. Service was fast but not good. The server did not come around to offer re-fills on our very empty beverage glasses.... and she brought the dinner rolls well after dinner had started as she admitted she forgot. She did not suggestive sell a desert and instead just brought us our check. 3. There is no music and the dining room is loud because you sit on top of a concrete floor with chipped paint everywhere.... cheap and nasty looking, not worthy of a steakhouse. The cheap turquoise curtains dragging on the floor covering the metal blinds are tacky at best. The hostess station is pure 1971, needs ripped out. 4. The décor was horrendous. They advise "casual country club attire", which is very funny as many, ahem, "gentleman" in the dining room had on various baseball caps... one guy was in flip-flops... and this place is not even in the same county as anything close to a country club vibe.... 5. While they do have cloth table cloths and napkins, sitting in this very poorly decorated and run down less than cafeteria atmosphere reminded me of sitting in the middle of a 1970s funeral parlor show room. I was looking for a casket with a dead guy laying in it.... 6. Presentation needs a complete revamp! No water served, no garnish of any kind, really nothing "nice" about this place except for the funeral flowers sitting in the middle of the converted garage, I mean dining room.... Great food. Quality food. Service provided by staff who would not know how to do a wine service, a staff who are very nice people, but a staff who have never eaten in a fancy restaurant in a first-class city like New York, Boston or San Francisco... foodie environments. Is this a prom date destination? NO Is this a place to impress your date? NO Is this a place to have a business dinner with a new or perspective client? H&%$ NO Is this a place that is no frills with decent food? Sure.... go for the steaks but nothing else.... read more

This is a very nice, very reasonably priced local steakhouse with excellent service. The decor needs updating, but you can't fault the cooking. We had the spinach salad - not to be missed - and the Delmonico steak. Both were great. At brunch the spinach salad isn't on the menu but you can still order it. This place is also very generous with fresh bacon bits - loaded baked potato, spinach salad, whatever. You won't go bacon deprived. Recommended. read more

This restaurant is located at The Dixie Golf Course and this was my first visit to this location. I have to say my first dining experience at Edgar's Steakhouse was very positive as I was provided the absolute best service I have had in the entire area! The daily specials are nice and they also have one of the best selections of menu items in the area. The building and restaurant interior are on the older side and might benefit from some refreshing to improve the ambiance but what they have works for now. The steaks seem to be on the expensive side here but perhaps they are worth it? I haven't had a steak here yet so that is TBD. I enjoyed my experience with one of their daily specials! Now I also enjoyed my dessert but I found the price for my creme brulee to be rather expensive for just a creme brulee. Now I eat creme brulee all the time in NOLA and it is usually cheaper than what I paid here but I don't know anywhere else around Laurel, MS that does a creme brulee... so maybe the price reflects the rarity of this item locally? The rest of the restaurants in the area need to send their servers here to learn how to do a great job and take care of their patrons better... My thanks to all the great staff here!!! read more

So glad they were able to update their hours of operation. I always would go when they were closed. We always like to go early before it gets busy. The decor is not fancy but food and service is always great! Julie was our server. She always does a great job. We ordered raw oysters, crab claws, and fried green tomatoes as appetizers. Entrees were filets and chicken dishes. Steak were cooked perfect. My only suggestion would be for them to change their green beans to a different type of green bean or swap to a different healthy side. You are missing a treat if you do not go by and try this place. We really like this place. You can taste how fresh the food is and the little local twists usually kick it up a knotch. However it's not the most consistent, my favorite is the ribeye and three different times it came out tasting three different ways, it was cooked perfectly all three times but the flavors were completely different. It's because of the daily/weekly special and usually that flavor somehow gets into the steaks. Soooo if the daily special's flavor sounds good on a steak I'd go for it lol. Honestly one of the best restaurant steaks I've had. We're definitely going back but just something to note. read more

We traveled 120 miles to eat dinner with our daughter. This restaurant was definitely worth the trip. The atmosphere was cozy. The service (Jenny) was awesome. She helped us decide on what to try. The food was outstanding. I had the Eggplant Ellouise (best I have ever eaten). My husband and daughter had the ribeye burger with home cut fries. They ate every bit of it! We had the Charcuterie Board which was very good. My favorite part of the entire meal was the homemade hot bacon vinaigrette. I could have drank it from the bottle it was that good. Went on a Saturday evening and there was a wait unless you were willing to eat in the lounge. My group was hungry and we chose the lounge. The atmosphere was laid back and definitely not fancy or special but my group all agreed that their food was. I had a ribeye and was not disappointed. It was prepared as I asked and as a carnivore it had the fat I look for when deciding what to eat. The wait staff were all experienced and attentive and the cook even came out and discussed with me how my steak would be prepared. Drove up to a basic bldg at the edge of a holf course, so we though uh oh we can't go in and this doesn't look promising from outside. My group of 12 ladies sent two in to check it out. This is my favorite restaurant in Laurel that serves steak!!!! the meat is consistently flavorful and perfectly cooked every time. The service is fantastic, no ditzy teenagers that don't know the first thing about table service and couldn't care less either. Whether you get a filet, a rib eye or even a Delmonico, the prices are reasonable, the portions are respectable and the deliciousness is off the charts. Wow, what an incredible prime rib! PERFECTLY cooked and so tender, served with au jus sauce and horseradish! Best steak we've had at a restaurant in a long time. We also tried the fried green tomatoes which were somehow extra crispy even with a crawfish cream sauce on top. The flavor of the sauce was a fabulous match with the tomatoes. We didn't have the grilled oysters, but the table next to us did and they looked incredible. We'll order them next time, for sure. The restaurant's atmosphere is very basic, but the food is top notch, and so is the service. Our waitress, Olivia, was cute as a bug, so friendly and always close by when we needed anything. The salad dressing (house) on my salad was really good. The slice potatoes were really good. The egg rolls is worth the drive also. Could have had them for my meal and would have still been happy. Don't let the modest building fool you. The food at Edgars Steakhouse was excellent. We visited there on 12/10/22, The 16 oz ribeye steak was cooked to perfection. The steaks at Del Frisco's are good but I liked Edgars' much more. The fried asparagus was the best i ever had. Even the salad was very good. Edgars has their own salad dressing. I suggest you try it. My wife had pecan crusted redfish. it was also good but I preferred the steak. Apparently Edgars has a real culinary chef. She was not there that day but the chef on duty performed admirably. Laurel is a town that is changing and improving. We couldn't believe our good fortune in finding this place, and yes it took some looking because there was no sign on the door so we went to the golf shop first! The place itself isn't attractive but the service was great and the food was phenomenal! I think I read another post that said the steak was like Ruth Chris' Steakhouse and I've got to agree. All 4 of us ordered different cuts of steaks and they were melt in your mouth tender. We also had the fried green tomatoes & shrimp for an appetizer and it was delicious as well. A full bar and the drinks were perfect, ordered the Mississippi Eggrolls which based on description we wondered but they were very tasty and enough for 4. Well let's just say that if the name of your restaurant has the word steak in the title, then you should have the basic concept of how to cook and serve a steak... RIGH?? That proves to be wrong at Edgar's Steakhouse. My daughter and I went there to eat for an early Mother's Day. I ordered the Ribeye cooked Rare and my daughter ordered Her's Med Rare. The waitress brought my salad and the first bite tasted like onion that had been cut and left in the refrigerator for a few days. I searched through the salad to remove the onion to find a completely translucent onion ring. NOT A GOOD START!!!! I opted to not eat anymore because of the risk of getting sick. Finally, our steaks arrived and were served in a deep oval plate with the steaks swimming in a liquid that looked like Ajus. First cut into the steak, it appeared that they were cooked properly. Now for the taste...... The liquid????? Well, it wasn't Ajus!!!!! It tasted like a mixture of A1 and Worcestershire sauce. HUGE NO NO!!!!!! Why would you drown any kind of meat in such unless you are trying to hide something?! The second cut into the steak was way different than the first cut, The steaks were raw (maroon), and we were unable to cut anymore because of it. Oh, and let's not forget the baked potato!!!! They didn't open up the potato to but the fixings in, instead they flopped it on top and the majority was on top our steaks. We were never asked if everything was cooked ok only had our tea glasses were filled (which was the only good thing we had there). The owner was in the dining room greeting the guests and you would have thought that he would have come to our table to check on us considering that out ticket was more than likely the largest one in the room at the time. Instead, he was literally throwing highchairs and chairs across the room. Our bill was almost $80 with no appetizers or desserts. We left there and drove to Hattiesburg to get a good meal.
