Disappointed. The first time we were here it was so good. The menu is different as well as the chef. No salads without dairy dressing...who doesn't have a vinaigrette option. I had the shrimp and grits. The shrimp had tails on so had to deal with that mess of getting them off in the tomato sauce. Also some of the shells had cooked off in the sauce so you would take a bite and there was shrimp shell. Not good. The flavor itself of the shrimp and grits was good but having to deal with that was a turn off. You used to get bread served with the meal. Now you have to order it as an appetizer for $7. What? The flavors were exceptional, and the menu had something for everyone. My wife got the rib eye (delicious!), and I got the salmon (absolute cuisine perfection). A complete lack of service ruined our recent dinner here. We arrived at 8:00pm and were seated promptly with menus. The hostess came back and took our drink order and then we sat...and sat...and sat. By 8:40pm, we had empty glasses and our menus still open in front of us without anyone having been by to take our order or offer drink refills. Finally, a server who had been setting tables and doing side work the whole time we were seated turned out to be our server. We got our dinners about 9:15pm and I couldn't tell you what it tasted like because I was so famished I just inhaled it. I can't remember any details about it so must not have been anything too amazing. High expectations fell flat. I ordered the Caesar Salad to start and the dressing was overloaded with garlic. Not to mention, the salad was made with field greens instead of romaine lettuce. Who makes a Caesar Salad without a leaf of romaine? For the entree I had the tomahawk pork chop. The chop was overcooked to the point of being charred which left an aftertaste of straight charcoal. Mediocre: only of moderate quality. Not very good. Mediocre is the best way to describe this place. Kinda like a date you went on in high school and it wasn't awful but you probably would have had a better time going out with someone else. My taste buds would have had a better time going to a different place. A small group with about 5 different dishes ordered and everyone thought the same thing. It was just okay. Pasta was clumped together and bland. Burger was burnt and seemed like it was cooked on a dirty flat top. The chicken was super fatty on top of the salad. The salad dressing was way overpowering. Great ambience and decent service. The concepts are there but the execution was very poor. Probably should rate it a 2 Star since our food took 30+ minutes to get to the table after placing the order but I get things happen. read more

Dining at this restaurant was a very enjoyable experience. I was alone, and they had 3 large parties to deal with, but I received exceptional service from Heather and the rest of the staff. They were friendly, attentive and helpful in exactly the proper ways. I started with their How Roy Got Robbed cocktail, which was very tasty. The Amarena Cherries in it were so good!! Heather was extremely helpful with the menu. I settled on the crab cakes (divine) and the Ribeye steak, which was cooked to perfection. There were only two desserts on the menu tonight, but one would have been sufficient. I knew I wanted the flourless chocolate cake, and it did not disappoint. This is our favorite restaurant. Period. We have dined all over chicago, New York and beyond and can't say enough good things about this place. First of all, Magan has always taken such good care of us. We tend to come in 1.5-2 hours before closing time and are always treated very well. Even if you don't order wine they still treat you nicely. The menu is always changing to accommodate Dustin's creativity and to work with different items in the season. We have had oysters twice and were blown away both times. I've had salmon and halibut there and both were served with yummy accompaniments from spinach to potatoes to carrots to who knows? It's always delicious and creative. Their bread is the best bread made only with 3 ingredients. If you are the type of person who doesn't like to be treated well, doesn't like great food or atmosphere, then this place isn't for you. If you want 5-star service and amazing food then this is the place for you. It's worth every penny and we can't wait to return!!! read more

So we gave a local joint a 3rd try tonight. The first 2 trips were during the pandemic, and it would be most fair to say that we were "underwhelmed". Tonight; total redemption! I don't know exactly what the chef changed - technique or supplier - but "Edge" in Peoria Heights served up a New York Strip that was cooked perfectly and full of flavor (he does not marinate, so don't know how the meat maintained the same flavor throughout), and the Pork Chop, sourced from a local farm may have been the best chop I have ever eaten. The service was impeccable, the drinks were perfect. Highly recommend giving @edgepeoriaheights a try, or another chance if you've been "un-impressed" in the past! read more

Went their for brunch today with my husband. They moved brunch to rooftop since warmer weather. Not a fan . This was the 2nd time it was terrible . I ordered 2 poached eggs on a muffin. After 45 minutes , my entree came . The eggs were not poached ... they were simply very undercooked eggs where the white of the eggs was still clear served sunny side up .. basically raw. I could not eat it. When I mentioned to server, she took off our bill but did not even ask if I wanted something else. I went home and ate cereal. So much for a nice brunch . I am sad that their brunch has gone downhill . It used to be very good . read more

Had a wonderful evening on our first visit here. The services was fantastic and the decor was simplistic and minimalist. We had the capanata as a starter and our meals were the salmon and thegnochetti sardi. Both were cooked well and seasoned wonderfully. The drinks were fantastic. Fantastic food. One of the few 5-stars I've rated for dinner in Peoria. Service was excellent, food was outstanding, presentation was Michelin-quality, and although pricey, worth the extra cost. Atmosphere is dark, trendy, and very open. Nearly every seat in the restaurant has visibility to the entire dining room. The bar is well stocked and the bartender very good. Cocktail menu is superb. My wife and I shared the gnocchi for the first course. Second course was the beet salad, and the third was the Faroe salmon. It was all excellent. The wine list was not as large as I had hoped, but the selection was very good. Overall this is now one of my top three favorite restaurants in Peoria. I cannot wait to return and try the chef's tasting menu. read more

Honestly one of the best meals we have had since moving back to central Illinois. We went for our wedding anniversary and our waitress gave us champagne to end our meal. It was a nice touch at the end of an already spectacular dinner. We ordered the fruit and burrata, shrimp cocktail, and Brussel sprouts to begin the meal. My husband ordered beef cheek ravioli and I ordered the short ribs. The meal ended with the apple tart and Champaign. Every bite was outstanding. Not a single bite was left at the table. My husband made a reservation for our anniversary last week and when we got there, we were ignored, then when someone finally came over, we had to wait 15 minutes for our table. Then, after we were seated, it took more than a few minutes to get our drink order. When the food came, it was so over seasoned, I couldn't eat even 1/2 of it. My husband's dinner was over seasoned with spicy pepper. We informed the waiter, who was obviously in over his head, and no offer of something else, or a discount, or a free dessert. The dessert was good, once we got a spoon to eat it. we sat there for 10 minutes waiting for a spoon. All I can say is don't believe the hype! read more

We have been to this establishment several times before. We were hoping for the best. Joined our party at the bar area, they were there before us and had drinks. My wife and I stood six feet from the bartender and a waitress for 17 minutes, with no one asking if we wanted a drink. We were seated and didn't see a waitress for another 15 minutes. The waitress came by, no introduction, no welcome, nothing. Ordered appetizers and drinks. Entrees were ordered, no specials mentioned. Entrees came, and pretty much never had any follow through. Met a friend for dinner here while on a business trip to the area. Food: Ordered the scallop appetizer - scallops were cooked perfectly, loved the yogurt sauce and chickpeas, but the parsnips were difficult to cut and eat. Not a frequent flier with parsnips so maybe this is normal? For dinner, had the NY strip sous vide. It was perfectly cooked, tender and delicious! The puree and reduction that accompanied it was also top-notch. Such a large portion that I could only eat half of it after gobbling up the appetizer. Had a glass of the Edge Cab wine with dinner - it was a lovely choice. Service: Not great. I thought maybe the waitress largely ignored us because she could tell that we were very engaged in our conversation, but after reading some of the other reviews maybe this was not the case. Also, after we paid we sat and chatted for awhile. Since we had cashed out, we received no attention and no offer of refills. To be clear, they were not busy at this point so it's not like they needed the table. This is a pet peeve of mine. Five star food + two star service = four stars, for this reviewer. We had reservations and were seated right away. The place is small and decorated in a minimalist style. Simple and uncluttered. Our server was slow to get to the table and slow to respond all night. She seemed a bit overwhelmed but of good intention. I started with the soup and my wife the beet salad. The roasted tomato soup was fine and came in an adequate serving (small cup). The beet salad had wonderful flavor and contained 4 slices of a very small beet. I ordered the brisket for my main course. It was an attractive presentation, but the brisket was very dry. The savior was the polenta that it was served upon. It brought some moisture to the dish. The serving might have been 4oz worth. Flavor was good, but did not warrant the price. My wife had the halibut which came as a very nice presentation, but again a small portion. The food was overly salty and honestly not as good as we'd had hoped. For desert we something called around the campfire? I know that's not the name, but it was horrible. Too many disjointed flavors and textures. For the money, I'd have expected much more professionalism and better food. As an aside, the establishment touts a dress code, but all we could see were blue jeans and jeans. If they are going to post a dress code it would be good to see them uphold it. My wife was dressed up and I was in a sport coat/ no tie and dress pants. read more

Had dinner here last night for our first time. We just kinda stumbled into here after our weekly volleyball game, so we were WAY under-dressed. If I had known anything about this place, I would have saved it for my just showered and pretty look;-) but c'est la vie... we didn't care and no one here seemed to either. A huge plus. I don't believe in fate, but I have to say that earlier in this particular day I had this thought: "Are there any more places that serve food of substance, food that hits your taste buds individually, not a mosh pit at once? And why does most of the food recently, although looking good, taste like sh*t!?!" So Edge fell into my lap. The positive: 1. Definitely high end ingredients and high end cooking. 2. Delicious. 3. NOT a mosh pit of flavor. 4. Love that the menu changes 5. A top Chicago-end restaurant in Peoria (made me miss living in chi town for a sec, but just for a sec since we didn't have to drive around the place 3 times before we found a spot to park) 6. Classy ambiance The negative: Only 2 1. lay off the salt, please. Coming from someone who LOVES salt and uses it in batches of acres even I was like whoa easy on the salt, chef. Didn't ruin the meal but a couple more hand shakes of it could have. 2. a bit over-priced ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have the time....Here's the details: Olive oil and herb flatbread were brought out with our drinks. Nice touch. People come hungry, so it is nice to give them a pre-appetizer while they are waiting; the Mexicans and Italians figured this out a long time ago with chips and rolls. Finally, the Americans are catching on too;-) Sad, but we do live in a time of now now, more more and pre pre. Since the menu changes, you may not be able to order this again, or maybe you will. Apple salad was cute. Warm apple cubes (nice) with cool string apples ( I like the contrast), goat cheese, arugula, some other fun things going on in there but the best thing was the mystery green cream paste. What was that? and can I have that to go? It would be great as a bread spread (hint hint;-). Shoot, sell it by the pint! I had the pork chop which was just darn delicious. Loved LOVED the pearl onions, the sauce, the mushrooms, the pureed potatoes, that rare little hybrid of kai-lan and brocolli. The chef left the fat on the chop, which I can actually really appreciate. It is probably why it was so darn juicy and yummy and why hide that fact. Kinda honest-to-goodness cool. Hubby had the lamb two ways. His addition to this post is "It was good, I liked it" Yes, A man of many words. I tried it and it was cooked well (as in medium rare), well seasoned, moist, bone in, not overly salty, pretty much the way lamb should be done right. And then you find the hidden lamb. Remember two ways? Add a touch more, but not much more. Sensationally a great idea. Asparagus was firm and so was the cauliflower. The asp. was done right since I like my al dente, but I prefer the brain to be softer. But that's just being nit-picky. Hub did comment that if their prices were lower they would have received 5 stars, "You know once you put yourself into that bracket, you have to live up to it, and you also get graded harsher." Then he went on about not expecting much from fast-food joints but more from sushi restaurants. I agree but we digress.... Dessert lava molten cake was well executed. We both liked that it wasn't too sweet, although I had a conflict of mental thoughts about it. On one hand it felt like the perfect European not too sweet yet sweet dessert I grew up with, on the other hand I felt spoiled by the cheap-O version at Chili's that is overly sweet. SO I like them both, shoot me as I search for the perfect medium. All in all, great dining and atmosphere. If they chill out with the high end prices and salt we would make this our go-to place. But I know I'll have a tough time talking my friends into spending $30 for a solo entree, not including app, salad or drinks, so in reality the frequency that I visit will suffer. Which is a bummer, but it is what it is, and I'm glad this place exists here in dirty, old P-town. read more

So disappointing in such prime real estate. To be fair it was a Wednesday night, but the rest of the strip was packed. The Edge had 3 tables the whole time we were there and nonexistent service. First visual observation was lackluster, no personality. On to the food, my beet salad was very good. My pork chop was the most gorgeous cut of meat that they did nothing with. It was swimming in a bath of broth with some quinoa for texture and red peppers. Willing to pay the price for great food, but we would have been better served getting a great burger somewhere. I'm probably in the minority here, but when I checked in here, the Yelp listing for this restaurant was in all upper case letters, and I found it odd when I rolled up to park that the sign outside listed the name in all lower case letters. Inside, the restaurant was smaller than I expected; maybe seating for about 40 not including bar seats. The decor featured modern colors and was fairly nondescript. We were a group of five and there seemed to be a delay before our drink order arrived, then we placed our dinner order and the food arrival timing was good. The bread and herbed butter was great! Our server had explained that there were four courses to the menu, which is not large and changes regularly, but that you could pick and choose any courses you wished, and that some were good for sharing. I ordered the beet salad ($12) to start, and while delicious and well presented, I wouldn't recommend that particular dish for sharing unless you were just looking for a bite. The beets were petite, maybe the size of pearl onions, the bleu cheese was generous and there was a nice purée of some sort garnishing the plate. For an entree I had the roasted chicken with polenta ($27), and it was flavorful and delicious. The skin on the chicken was seasoned, browned and nicely crisp, the meat was juicy and the polenta had a wonderful savory flavor. In between each course including bread, all plates and implements were cleared and fresh ones were brought out, and our waters were refilled several times. I had two courses and some had three at our table, so overall from arrival to payment of our bills we were there two hours. I would consider dining here again for a special occasion. read more
