Unfortunately my second experience with this place was not good. The girl cut my cuticles very badly, my thumb feels swollen now. She didn't do it correctly, she cut at fresh skin. You're not suppose to do that. That's why she cut me 3 times. THREE TIMES. And now my cuticles look horrible. See for yourself. The first time I came here, the girl at the front counter did my nails and she did a fantastic job. The second time I went to a different girl and she butchered my fingers. Visiting town and I needed a Manicure like nobodies business partly to fix a NY one I had a week ago... walked in with no appointment and was sat right away by a nice lady. She showed me the unopened bag of new tools before beginning. I came here super excited to have my first eyelashes extension. Kathy is so nice and very confident and did my extension. It was so painful and wasn't relaxing at all. Thou, it look so great for the first three days, thought it should last for atleast 2-3weeks. Told my experience with my friends and they were surprise that I felt pain on the process, they mentioned that I shouldn't feel any kind of pain if the artist was good. Since I felt a lot of pain and need to go home straight to rest after having my eyelashes done means it was a terrible painful experience. Came to Portland to enjoy my short vacation but eneded up staying a day home because of this. Price is good, Kathy is nice but the experience was hurtful. I won't be coming back here. read more

When I first came to see Tram I had ingrown toenails and swollen ankles. Now thanks to her skillful pedicures my feet & ankles look and feel great. She knows how to use pressure points in her massage which is very relaxing. Tram is also super-friendly and remembers all her regular customers. She helps pick out nail colors that are flattering and fashionable. I go in once a month to get mani-pedi and I get many complements on my nails. read more

Lovely ladies and they do very good manicures, pedicures, acrylics and dip... gels ... Kim does mine and I even get leg waxing.... The shop is extremely clean and neat... I went here to get some pretty awful acrylics removed (done by an independent artist in Tacoma), and not only was Katie so incredibly gentle, but she also gave me a shellac manicure after that really lifted my spirits! This was the worst brow job I have ever gotten in my life. I'm so furious and can't stop crying. I look like a mix between spock and carly from the bachelor. II asked the woman at least THREE times, and other people whether it was threading or waxing and she said threading. I told her I wanted them to stay thick and natural and she said yes of course. Automatically, as soon as I sit back hot WAX is slathered all over my eyebrows. She did a horrible job, my left eyebrow is super thin and looks rounded, and they cut and tweezed so much. I asked them at least 4 time throughout the process to see them because it felt like they were taking a lot off and they ignored me. It looks horrible and they do not match. The worst part is is that they didn't even "clean up" my eyebrows like I asked. She left all the hairs in the middle and a bunch of behind. She was incompetent even ripping the wax off my skin and I could have sworn she said "oops." She and the other woman were hovering over me talking in another language and completely ignoring me. It was rude and unprofessional. If you don't know what I'm saying in English, that's FINE just don't pretend like you do. What was also really rude was that she asked me to get my eyebrows done while she was giving me a manicure. The manicure was fine. But she kept pestering me about it the whole time and making me feel bad about my appearance. I hate that I got conned into getting my eyebrows terrorized. She also told me after she destroyed my eyebrows that I should get the baby hairs waxed off my forehead. I don't know if I'm aloud to use bad language on yelp with out my post getting taken down but F*CK no I'm not letting you do more. She should have her beauty licensed revoked. Also--the back room was SO dirty. There are two nasty beds in there. They don't explain or talk to you before they do anything either. While the majority of these reviews are "good" do not EVER go here for eyebrows or lash extensions. The nails are hit and miss. read more

Update! It's not even been 2 weeks and my toe nail polish is falling off!! My toes can usually last several months especially in winter. I'm so disappointed that I spent any money there. The experience was great. The lady however that did my pedicure and my shellack clearly didn't do quite a good job. She put ghosts on my big toes that I didn't really want that looked like male genitalia. I had to buy the polish so I could go over it. My shellack has come off in pieces after less than a week. I'm so disappointed after spending money on my nails which I never do for them to be coming off. When I called they said I needed to come back in but why would I want someone that messed my nails up to redo them. I would avoid seeing Lee. read more

Do not go here for lashes. I would have rated this a 3 after my first experience here. I got a great price on groupon and decided to get my lashes done. When I arrived, the woman did not walk me through or ask me what kind of lashes I would like, however. She didn't show me pictures or ask what I preferred, but when I mentioned that I wanted them long, which she seemed hesitant about. When she was done I had these really spaced out, super long lashes. The length was lovely, but they were spaced out like a pair of really cheap falsies. The next time I went in I asked for them to be thicker, which she was not excited about. The very WORST part is. Near the end, I felt her get in close to my eyes with a pair of mini scissors. I figured she was trimming some of the lashes she had just applied. But no. She was cutting off MY OWN bottom lashes. Wow. So now my bottom lashes are all chopped off and blunt on my right eye. It looks ridiculous. and she didn't mention anything about it. Just let me leave after I tipped her. I couldn't believe it but I accepted it and left without argument. In 2022 I cant believe I was refused service because of the color or my skin. read more

Came here to get my nails because I didn't like how another salon did my nails. Vivian was very nice and did an amazing job on my nails! She took her time to make sure they were perfect and they look great! We also did a pedicure and it was very relaxing, complete with a glass of wine and a back massage. Horrible. I went in to remove a Shellac polish and get a manicure. The salon worker asked me about the color I chose which I replied: Clear Four times throughout the process I had to repeat this since this seemed to completely confuse her. The shellac was not completely removed which I had to physically take her tool and begin to remove it my self . She was doing a terrible job removing it and wanted to put on the base coat before shellac was off. This is after we both were being snippy with each other because she started filing off the Shellac. I had said TWICE already that I do not want the polish filed off . The tech next to her asked how were my nails to which I replied , Terrible my nails are not smooth and nail is still yellow from polish STILL being left on. The tech told my stylist I needed my nails buffed. She then responded that I didn't want to!! I said I did not want my nail FILED and the buffing WAS done ( I point directly to the buffer) but it looked terrible. In the end I hate the fact that I paid for a shitty half assed manicure from a lady with a shitty attitude. And the fact that I tipped her. Will never go back and will warn others of how let down I was. read more

I went here with a friend to get manicures. It definitely didn't seem like they were used to guys going in, but that wasn't too surprising. When we first went in, they said that they could fit us in in half an hour. We went back in half an hour, and it was at least another 15 or 20 minutes before both of us were being worked on. I'm pretty sure that the woman doing my nails was either the owner or his husband. She wasn't particularly friendly and her English wasn't great. She got up a couple of times to take payment from other customers, and she was a bit rough. The woman that my friend got seemed very friendly though, and they both did a pretty good job with our nails. Even though manicures were supposed to be $15 (plus $1 for the kit), I was charged $21 plus tip. I was in a hurry and the man at the register didn't really seem to speak particularly good english, so I didn't try to figure out why. In the future, I'd probably go somewhere a little bit more upscale (which probably wouldn't cost much more), but this wasn't a bad place. read more

Thank you EDGE! I'm not from Portland, so apparently I made a mistake and booked a hair appointment with a stylist at Dosha. My hair was cut way too short and hacked apart. So I was downtown, and I literally walked into Edge in tears and crying about my hair. The stylist there was Kelly, and she basically saved me from having a mental break down. She completely saved my hair and fixed it beautifully. She also gave me white wine to drink the whole time to calm my spirits. I was absolutely thrilled with the results. She told me that she originally worked in L.A. for 20 years and knew all about color and the right shape for your face. I go to her now for my hair (which is sometimes red, sometimes blonde) and always a really good price. read more

I live on the road so it's difficult to find places when you're not a local. I was pleasantly surprised when I found this place searching on Yelp. They weren't too busy when I walked in and I got helped right away. I came in for a pedicure and a fill. The staff is super friendly and the woman who did my pedicure sincerely took her time to take care of my ingrown big toe nails. Bless her heart it was a time consuming process but she was patient and cleaned everything so well that my toes feel 100% better. They have a huge color selection to please any customer. I had a younger man do the pedicure, which might have made some people uncomfortable, but he was so friendly and professional that I had no problems. They always get me in right away and Mike does the best job on my nails- he customizes each pedicure to how my feet look and feel- not just going through the motions and I didn't even bring anything up. He does a great job on my toes. Complimentary tea or wine as well. My friend and I used to be regulars here, and I still think that the you can get a better mani/pedi here than at most places in Portland, but it can be a hit or miss sometimes. I think that because they realized we're regulars, they think it's ok for them to be more pushy when it comes to making us spend more money. The owner used to talk about how unsanitary powder nails are, and that's why the store doesn't have them, but last time I went, the lady tried to convince us multiple times to get them now that they offer powder. This is just one example -they've tried to get us to do eyebrow waxes, upgrade to shellac, and have been inconsistent with their student discounts. I'm extremely particular about my eyebrows and would fly to San Francisco to find the right arch and shaping. Kelly knows EXACTLY what she is doing. She's a true professional - I wouldn't trust anyone else in the city. Everyone asks me who sees my brows asks me where I get them done. They are very sexy, high and arched. The price is ridiculously cheap (so I tip very well). Also I can walk in randomly and she will see me right away. Their service is unsurpassed. Mike is a pro and he knows what he is doing and aims to please the customer in any way. I was so pleased for a first time guest. Kelly began her magic then and today I would drive miles and miles to get back to her. I generally have wonderful, quick service here. I have been going here for about 3 years now and have had multiple different people do my nails. I do acrylic or solar and they usually last and look nice. I have had a few issues, but they are generally great about taking care of me pretty quick. I have been going here on and off for a couple years and have always been a satisfied customer. Early this week I went for a regular fill and was not satisfied how my nails turned out. After debating if I wanted to be "that person", I decided I just was not happy with how they looked. So two days later I went back. Mike quickly rushed me in to fix the problem, and asked me the details of my last visit. Turns he was on a (very short) vacation, and the employee that did my fill was not a regular employee of Edge. Mike made sure to make me feel comfortable and that coming back to give them a chance to fix the mistake, was the right choice. Mike went above and beyond to fix the problem, and most importantly made me feel appreciated as a customer. I have been going to the salon for months. I had originally purchased Groupons to use at the location for eyelash extensions. As soon as I walked in and saw all the services the salon offered. Tracy listened to my previous problems keeping my eyelash extensions on and since then my lashes are perfect until I go in for a fill. She is so fast and efficient I was astounded; my previous aesthetician took 1.5 hours to do my lashes and she does it in less than half that time. I now get my gel acrylics and fills done by Tracy as well as period pedicures. Everyone is extremely helpful and thorough. My nails always look great when I leave and now my husband goes in for pedicures and loves the experience. I can't recommend this salon highly enough!!!! read more
