It is really a shame to give the Edgewater Inn three stars. I was there with my family last week for a birthday dinner and overall the experience was pretty disappointing. We had 11 people in our party and called hours ahead to make the reservation. We arrived on time and not only was our table not set up, but there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The staff were friendly and got things set up pretty quickly - they also provided us with coloring pages and crayons for the children in our group without us asking which was appreciated. We made a comment about wishing we could have sat in the back 'sunroom' area since we had such a large party and the server told us it was only open on Fri/Sat. Not sure the reasoning (maybe they didn't want to heat the room or clean it up after us?), but regardless customers expect to have reasonable accommodations when they know parties are going to drop over $200 on food & alcohol. Our table was jammed in a corner of the restaurant and we had a table that was basically blocking the route to the restrooms - whenever anyone in the place needed to visit the restroom people in our group had to stand up - really disappointing and disruptive to our guests. Overall the food was good - we ordered several pizzas and a large salad and plenty of beers. If the Edgewater Inn wants to stay in business it would likely be in their best interest to be more friendly to larger parties that visit their establishment. It's not surprising that they're now closed a few days a week and aren't nearly as busy as they used to be. My family has been going to the Inn for decades and it is sad to see the place struggle; however we will certainly consider other dining options in the future that can and CHOOSE to comfortably accommodate large groups of guests. read more

The first time we were here was about a year ago and we had a great experience. However we went yesterday and horrible experience. We walked in and waited about 3 minutes until someone finally came to the front and said to sit anywhere. Our silverware was dirty with dried dough stuck on it. I never received the refill I asked for. And then when we received the bill we had items from the table next to us. So be sure to check your bill !! We will not be returning or recommending this place. read more

I am a customer of many many years and although prices have gone up a bit higher than I like to see, the quality of the Howdy pizza is still number one! The expansion of the place helped a lot and you must have a schooners when you stop in! Love it! read more

Edgewater is my favorite pizza place, and I've been a patron for as long as I can remember (since I had to stand up in the booths to eat my pizza). Unfortunately, with a change of management some time ago, the place is not up to the same standards it once was. The pizza itself is still fantastic-- my favorite in the area --despite a slight change either in recipe or process (my palate is not quite refined enough to tell what happened), but the service does not have the same kind of "Cheers" feeling it once did. Sometimes service is outstanding and sometimes it feels like a factory line and nothing more. I've worked in customer service a long time and I know how stressful rushes can be, but the patrons shouldn't be the ones feeling that stress. There has been a bit of a revolving door with the staff it seems over the past couple of years. I miss having a regular waitress. Put more emphasis on customer service and front-of-house, and everything will be golden once again. read more

The worst dining experience I've ever had in Colorado. No exaggeration. I've been here three times and each time it gets worse. This place is beyond terrible. The only reason why people like this place is for the bar - if you want dinner go someplace else. The waiters are unfriendly, they don't smile, in fact they barely acknowledge your existence. For some reason it's always too hot in this place. It was 58 degrees outside and at least 80 inside. During our meal, I watched at least three people take off their outer shirts. It became wholly unbearable to sit there in that heat. Now the real problem: the food. It is awful - pizza is just soggy flatbread with toppings from cans. Don't listen to any of these "Durrr I'm from the east coast therefore I'm a pizza expert" reviews, this pizza is utter garbage and made up of pre-made, store bought ingredients. This place is "Italian food" like Taco Bell is "Mexican food". It is laughably disgusting. The wings are poorly cooked, the burgers are from Sam's Club and are always burned, just like the buns. The last time I ate here 3 of the 4 people at our table got sick. Bad attitudes and even worse food. read more

I got a pizza to go at the Edgewater Inn, while on that side of town. Living in southeast Denver, I never get that way. It was a blast from the past, having gone there when I was a kid! Do not go here unless you want Campbell's Italian wedding soup in a can! we went in on a Friday night expecting home made soup made from scratch but instead we got canned soup! what a joke!! The older blond waitress got every single persons order wrong except my side salad. I'm sure she was the owners relative filling in for someone who called in because she did not know anything about being a server. The waitress didn't even know that stacked plates near the end of table are to be TAKEN!! Then we get the bill and it was $85 for canned soup and a couple burgers??!!! Ive been a fan of the atmosphere and especially the Pizza since I was 12 years old. Now 58 the pizza has changed maybe a little? But its still one of three favorites around my area. Why not a 5 star? Well like everywhere the portion either gets smaller or the price goes up. Now with the high prices of Denver metro,its done both lol .Lil smaller and higher priced. I don't know what's changed over the years, but this isn't the same Edge. I've been coming here since 1990 with my parents and grand parents and even had my first beer at the this bar. It's a shame to see this place headed backwards when these types of bars and pizza joint are the in thing. I advise the owners to step up there game and stop cutting corners with their pizza ingredients. There's better options out there and with a growing neighborhood the Edge could soon be swallowed up by up and coming joints. read more

Oh, yeah, definitely the best pizza around. If your mom could make great pizza at home with fresh-cut ingredients, this is what it would taste like. I've said many times: Edgewater Inn is what pizza tasted like before the chains industrialized it into universal averageness. One complaint, they don't deliver and won't let you call ahead with an order to pick up, so you have to wait while it bakes, so it's a 20- to 30-minute stop to get a to-go order, fortunately, just enough time for a cheap draft beer. read more

I've been going to the Edge for about 15 years and unfortunately, at this moment, it's at another low point (there was another about 8 years ago). I have figured out that what's lacking during these low points is management, or lack thereof. The service the last few times we've been there has been HORRIBLE and the food has been way below par. I guarantee the food, service and my rating will improve as soon as the owner hires another good manager. When the Edge is on the top of its game it is deserving of it's iconic reputaion. read more

This is the worst service I have ever had. First we were seated with no menu then I asked it it was coke or Pepsi. They did coke, it's Pepsi. Then we ordered a dr pepper and the waitress walked past our table 6 or 7 times and never took away the Pepsi. We ordered a salad which so far hasn't shown up. The waitress seems extremely bored or pissed off. Or both. And she is just standing around talking to the bartender. Horrible. We also ordered garlic bread that we never got. read more

This is absolutely the worst pizza I have ever gotten from a restaurant. I heard this place was good years ago by a local, so I tried it. Pittiful. The Jalopeno bites were frozen from WalMart and heated up. I have never thrown pizza away the next day until I got pizza from this place. Then I threw it away. Love this place! Best gluten free I've ever had! Owner was there. Daughter was there. It was honestly the best experience I've ever had. It's rare to see a restaurant where the owner and daughter are still there and working!!! My husband and I moved to Edgewater in the Fall of '08 and are totally hooked on Edgewater Inn! The only downfall is that the bill always makes us say "ouch" and we don't even booze it up anymore. So for being slightly overpriced, -1 star. Otherwise, the pizza is SO. FLIPPIN'. GOOD! And despite the price, we always come back. I love, love, love the chicken Alfredo pizza. Yummy garlic cloves, tomatoes and juicy grilled chicken chunks atop loads of creamy Alfredo sauce = scrumdiddlyumptiousness! My hub never strays from the BBQ chicken pizza which is stacked with those same yummy chicken chunks, jalapenos, purple onions and an a$$ kickin' BBQ sauce. Since we live so close, most of the time we just get it to go. The atmosphere is "dive-ish" as another reviewer said, but always clean and excellent service. We've been looking for a good pizza place on our side of Denver-- and this is the best one we've found so far. The crust was really good, the toppings were generous and reasonably tasty, and the sauce was flavorful without being overwhelming. The salad was 80's style salad with mostly iceburg lettuce with a very few "field greens" on top, onion slices, cheese, crutons fresh from a box, hard tomato slices and even pepperoni slices. It wasn't really bad...it was just that kind of salad. The beer was served in really heavy bulb shaped glasses and you could even get a "tomato" beer (but we were too scared.) It's definitely loud. It's definitely fine to bring kids. And it's crowded. Overall, I'd say it's a good place to go if you live nearby--but don't go too far out of your way for it. And if you go, go early. read more

The food vendors at joyride brewery had an hour wait so I decided to walk down to this restaurant/bar to order food because it was close and had great reviews. I walked in and sat at the bar and immediately noticed that the two bartenders weren't really that busy, they were both socializing with a group of men and did not stop when they realized a new customer came in. I sat and waited for about 5 minutes while they looked at me but actively ignored me to continue talking to the group of men. After a while, one of the bartenders came and asked me what I needed and I told her that I'd like to order to go, she handed me a menu and then walked over to the group of men again. After looking at the menu and deciding what I wanted I closed my menu and waited for one of the bartenders to come back. They both looked at me several times and noticed that my Menu was closed but didn't approach me. In fact they actively ignored me to continue to talk to the men then they went through the double doors in the back and did not come back out for over 6 minutes. So I was just sitting there at the bar waiting to order. They came out after some time but still ignored me and asked the group of men if they wanted anything else. Again, I could tell that they knew I was sitting there but they were actively ignoring me. After about 10 minutes of being actively ignored by the bartenders and stared at by the group of men I left bc I did not feel comfortable. I should add that I am an African American woman with big curly hair and it really felt like I was being ignored due to my appearance. I was being actively ignored and aggressively stared at. I understand that this is Colorado and a mainly Caucasian state but I was hooting for better from Denver. Won't be back. read more

I did really like the pizza here but the service was ridiculously slow. The pizza is doughy (my fav) and the pizzas are cheesy! Not too much sauce. The beers are cold and big, but it will take you forever to get a refill. I think if we go back here it will be for take out, because I just don't have patience like that for pizza. Granted it was a busy Thursday night and we were warned about how long the pies take to cook, but come on lady, keep the beers coming at least! read more

I love giving good reviews but I think the pizza is inconsistent and just average. I have been a few times over the past couple of years, giving them multiple tries. Okay so, the staff and service is always on par when I come in, but the food is mediocre. I suggest people check it out, it's worth stopping in; but it isn't a place I frequently go to. The Long Island iced tea is 12.00, and is pretty average- which I would expect it to be out of this world at that price. The pizza is good, but the crust is not my style/thicker. Best pizza in Sloan Lake! I went here with my boyfriend and we split a pizza. There was none left to take home by the time we were finished! Fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection, and the crust was amazing. We came here on a Sunday during football season and the service was still amazing and fast. This was, hands down, the worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had. Period. My boyfriend went there before, and loved the scooners of beer, so he wanted to take me there for a date. He did not try the pizza when he was there, so he thought it was a great idea for us to go together to try out the food. We walked in on a Wednesday evening, and were seated immediately, even though they were full. So, it seemed promising. After waiting for the waitress for 20 minutes, we ordered 2 scooners of beer - a coors light for me and a coors heavy for my boyfriend. We also placed our pizza order and mozzarella sticks. We got the scooners of beer 10 minutes later (please count the time with me people - we are at 30 minutes), and both were coors heavy. I am picky about my beer, and so I had to send it back. 5 minutes later, I got the right beer, and we received the mozzarella sticks. The mozz sticks were average. We ate those, and then waited for our pizza. 10 minutes. 20 minutes. 30 minutes. 40 MINUTES... (We are now at an hour and 15 minutes) and have had a grand total of 2 beers and mozzarella sticks. People around us were all getting their pizza and FINISHING. The couple next to us even offered to give us a slice of theirs! We finally get our pizza, and its undercooked. And when I say undercooked, the dough was so soft that I tried to take a slice, I had to use 2 forks to shovel the pizza onto my plate. I got the waitress, and sent it back. She agreed that it was undercooked, and assured me that she would remedy the situation, and that it would only be 20 minutes for a brand new pizza. So, I decide to wait for the pizza (STUPID DECISION on my part - we should have just left at this point!!). We got the #2 pizza now at an hour and 35 minutes after walking in the door. And guess what - the PIZZA WAS STILL UNDERDONE. The manager at this point came over and comped the bill, and gave us a certificate to come back in on him. That was awesome, and I have to give the management credit. So, we came back 2 weeks later to give it another chance - this time for lunch. No one was in, so we sat at the bar. AGAIN ANOTHER HOUR FOR PIZZA AND IT WAS UNDERDONE! Moral of the story - screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice - and you get a bad yelp review!!! read more

Because it's only three blocks away, I've been to the Edgewater Inn on several occasions. The atmosphere is a total Denver dive bar. The food is OK. I honestly didn't like the pizza much - it seemed very heavy and the crust was soggy. Could have been a bad day - I think I've only had it once. The appetizers and other food are typical bar food. The prices for the food and drinks are very reasonable. I really enjoy going during non-peak hours - it's a great place to lounge and enjoy some cold beer! read more

Shady owner. Tips given to the kitchen are taken by the owner. If a kitchen worker makes a mistake the owner charges them full price. Yes she makes money off her workers mistakes. Went to lunch with some of my friends on a first time visit; I probably will not be going back. I ordered a large pizza; ate a piece there and took the rest home. Whatever was in the pizza, made my whole family sick. I did call up the manager the next day. She said she would look into it. This place is not a happy place. The pizza is disgusting, and the ingredients are not fresh. The service goes with the food. Had the BBQ chicken pizza & wings. The pizza was overly spicy and I like spicy food. The spice was inappropriate for the pizza. The pizza was spicier than the undercooked wings!! The service was beyond horrible and came with extra bad attitudes. Lastly, the regulars are a pack of hawaiian shirt wearing, mean geriatrics. One of the old man regulars sitting at the bar yelled at a BABY for making too much noise. He actually yelled "knock it off!" at a baby for squealing. I guess it interfered with all the yelling the adults were doing at the sports on tv. This place is cramped, dirty and disgusting in every way. I will never spend another penny here. read more

Only after we asked, were we told they were having problems with the oven. Got our pizza the cheese wasn't even melted in the center. No apologies or discount offered. The Inn, as some of us know it has gone through some rollercoaster like changes in the past ten years or so. I actually worked there, making pizza's, in the good old days of Ben DiPietro. I think its come full circle again with the addition of a few menu items and some new friendly faces. It gets busy at nite/on weekends. The staple here is the "howdy" pizza and the scooner. Ordered the Sweetness pizza for takeout, asked for them to make it a little "crispy". Had time for a beer while waiting. The beertendress was as sweet as ever, the kitchen manager was awesome. The pizza, mmmmmmm, soooo yummy! The toppings are plentiful, but not excessive. The sauce is slightly spicy, but not overbearing. The crust was done exactly as asked for & was very tasty. I don't come to Edgewater Inn often, but every time I have I REALLY liked the pizza, & this was no exception! read more
