I was fairly impressed with this place... Used yelp while I'm out here hanging in the Hamps and wanted a good meal, edgewater came highly recommended... This place is located across from the bay but honestly i don't know about sitting outside .. You're really overlooking the very busy parking lot and then there is a straight also between the restaurant and the bay, so for me this isn't really "on the water" dining but whatever.. There must be a good sunset at least ... Anyway, we got there at about 5 when they opened and it was already filling up. I he tried to call for reservations but they only accept if your party is 5+... Fine... Luckily, we sat right down... The decor is slightly fancy so leave your bathing suit cover ups, flip flops, and hats home... EATS...... Mmmmmm.. The crab and avocado salad was so amazing with the arugula and grape tomatoes.. I wish I ate this as my Meal and ordered the mussels bc those looked really good also.. I had the chicken florentine which I thought was just okay.. The sauce was too sweet I felt but the chicken was so tender and delicious... I was hoping for a more savory Marsala sauce bc I believe that is what was described but it was just too sweet.. The others ordered chicken parm which I mean, let's be serious... This is a fan favorite wherever you go that serves good Italian .. And a pasta dish I can't remember the name but it was like orchiette pasta with a bolognese (sausage) sauce and peas, I thought it tasted very strong of basil but the others didn't think so, so maybe it was just me... The food was very good, presentation was nice and the staff were all equally polite and attentive as they should be... We also had the chocolate lava cake split amongst the 3 of us and I didn't really think it was much of a lava cake, it was good, just not like lava pouring out of the center the way u would expect .. Great Italian restaurant in the Hampton bays area. When we arrived we had a 30 minute wait but it seemed shorter than that. We sat in the outside area and there was live music and it was really nice! I wish there was a light outside in the lounge area. We got some sangria pitchers and they were really yummy. The only down fall is how much ice they put in it. For apps we got the fried ravioli which was so tasty! For dinner the chicken parm, gnocchi bolognese and shrimp oregonata are great choices! This is a pretty big place and has some outdoor seating too. It is just a little dark in here to see the menu. This is a great place for a nice Italian meal I would highly recommend if in the area. read more

This place is really quite a treat. We sat outside on a beautiful summer afternoon, and had a great view of the ocean as well as the garden. Absolutely breathtaking. This is your quintessential, laid back Hamptons restaurant. I cannot recommend it enough. The service here was excellent - polite, prompt, and considerate. I started off with a nice glass of Cabernet Sauvignon - super smooth, fruity, and perfect for a summer day. The bread - wow. Probably the best bread I've had during this trip. It was an assortment of twists and rolls, some of which were dusted in this fantastic garlic/Parmesan cheese coating. I could have eaten all of it in one sitting. The texture was awesome (think crispy on the outside, warm and fluffy on the inside). The butter that came along with it was packaged, but it was served nice, creamy, and easy to spread. Avocado and crab salad - this is one of my favorite salads in the world. Who knew that crab and avocado could go so well together? The presentation was adorable - the rectangular prism of crabmeat layered over avocado was sitting on a bed of arugula, grape tomatoes and red onions. On top was this fantastic sprinkling of bacon bits. I honestly can't get over this, haha. It was so good. The crabmeat was fresh and the avocado was perfectly ripe. The combination of the two in terms of texture was absolutely amazing - smooth and creamy. Also, it was just flavored amazingly too. Banana Nutella bread pudding and vanilla ice cream - this was a pretty great dessert. The bread pudding part was so delicious - texture wasn't too soggy, had a bit of crispiness near the edge (slightly burnt but I didn't mind). The ice cream was a bit problematic - it had this weird frozen aspect to it. Didn't taste bad. Just surprised me in a negative way. Presentation of the dish was lovely, as always. The bread pudding was surrounded by a lovely cherry sauce and a sprinkling of powdered sugar. This restaurant experience was quite lovely and I hope to return. read more

My husband and I came here for our anniversary when staying in Hampton Bays. We called ahead to reserve, but unless there are 5+ people in your party you have to turn up and wait. They take your phone number & text you when your table is ready which is really handy. We didn't get to sit outside with the great view unfortunately, but next to the fish tank with colorful fish! The menu is huge, lots of choice for everyone. The food was incredible, we were very impressed. Firstly, the complimentary bread was amazing and addictive!! For appetizer, my husband and I shared a house salad and meatballs. The meatballs were so good and the sauce. It looked so good, I dug right in and forgot to take a photograph!! For our main meals, I had the yellowfin tuna with Brussels sprouts. It was delicious and a huge portion. My husband had the prawn risotto, which he said was really tasty. For dessert we shared a cannoli because we were so full! The service was very good. Our server was able to recommend dishes from the menu and even took our photo for our anniversary and called us a cab. Excellent food, service and location so really no surprise why this place draws a long wait. Word to the wise and make a reservation if your party is 5 or larger. Intimate interior seating and gorgeous outdoor waterfront seating. If you like seafood you won't be disappointed but there's also plenty of options for the carnivores alike. The bread sampler and garlic knots were great and they weren't shy about bringing over a second helping. Started off with the pan-seared tuna appetizer, which was pleasantly rare and a surprisingly healthy sized portion of 5 or 6 large pieces. For the entree, had the pan-seared sea scallops from the daily specials which was tender and delish. Tried the soft shell crab special from a friend which I also enjoyed. Had a delicious dinner at Edgewater on our final night in the Hamptons. Everything was so good and arrived at the table piping hot, which was amazing. The shrimp oreganata over risotto was delicious as was the meatball and burratta appetizer. My husband had the gnocchetti Bolognese which he also enjoyed. In these times of COVID-19 they handled everything very well with social distancing. We felt comfortable and enjoyed our meal in a very nice setting. read more

Yelp waitlist feature worked very well here. Staff was actively keeping track and managed the flow of incoming guests smoothly. Outdoor (lawn and patio) seating option under the string lights was a pleasant option and consists of about 3 large tables, 3 picnic tables, and two foursomes under umbrellas. Fried ravioli and Gnocchi with pistachio was outstanding apps to start with... their complimentary garlic bread was so yummy and fresh, make sure to ask for marinara sauce a side. However the food & service is a big disappointment! How can anything else on the menu be good! Don't order pasta (an insult to Italian food), steaks (horrific), seafood (not even fresh) or anything from the bar (major disappoint for even simple mixed drink)! This place came highly recommended by a friend and so we were looking forward to it. We were also willing to wait since it's a Sunday evening on a holiday weekend! Upon checking in we were told it's a 2hr wait. My husband used the restroom and while I waited for him I overheard the hostess tell a couple "1hr, 15 minutes..." it was immediately following our inquiry for a table, so I asked "why is it 2 hours for us but an hour and 15min for him?...." her answer: "it's around that range for everyone..." I guess you have to fit the bill for this place. Definitely bummed we didn't get to try it, but happy to take our service somewhere fair and happy to accept our patronage. read more

After we found out our reservation at another restaurant was never reserved because it was closed, we luckily found Edgewater Restaurant during our first night in the Hamptons. Upon entering the restaurant, there is a beautiful garden area and fish pond. Everything from the ambience, to the service, and food was excellent. The restaurant is sophisticated yet, the attire is casual and comfortable. We sat outside overlooking the bay in the evening and it was absolutely breathtaking. The food was so delicious! We had the meatball appetizer which is perfect for two people. Two large meatballs served on a dish with burrata mozzarella, sauce, and two pieces of crispy garlic toast. This was one of the best meatballs I've ever had and since I've been making my own sauce and meatballs for years, I think I can be hard to please but these were amazing. For the main course, I had the Shrimp Oreganata with Tomato Risotto, and my husband had Linguini with White Clam Sauce. To drink, we both had Pinot Grigio. We loved every bite and sip of our meal. The only thing I would change is that I would like to see placemats on the table instead of utensils directly on the table. Other than that, it was perfect. read more

Have always had a great Experiance until last night ... Food is usually good... went during the week for a birthday dinner.... Disappointed with Frutti Di Mare was very dry...(didn't even eat 75% of it)... rest of the food was great. Service was ok... until I dropped the check with a known waitress because I did not want to leave that amount of cash on the table and needed to get somewhere... our waitress came running outside demanding where the check was "hmm hello where's the check!" I have never felt more embarrassed than last night. I informed her I left it with the other waitress.... Instead of saying thank you or I'm sorry or give me a moment while I check... she just turned around... I could have gone inside and made a big deal but I was in a rush to get somewhere. Being a waitress I understand there are people out there who may leave without paying their bill but I definitely was not that kind of people!
