However, I took off one of what would have been five stars because no bread is presented at the table while the menu is explored. When I got the attention of a waitress, and asked for a basket of bread, I was told that they no longer serve bread before the meal. This is an update of our previous review of Edgewater Restaurant in Hampton Bays. We have had four dinners at Edgewater since Labor Day and are pleased to report that the restaurant has maintained its high culinary standards and extraordinarily gracious and welcoming service. The pasta dishes at Edgewater are excellent. Our recent dinners have been highlighted by rich and flavorful short rib specials, served over pasta or with risotto and a perfectly prepared Orecchiette with Broccoli Rabe and Sausage. Seafood dishes have been superb - with pristine local flounder, seared yellow fin tuna and roasted salmon demonstrating the kitchen's adroit handling of fish. The appetizers at Edgewater are uniformly excellent - jumbo lump crab cakes, fregola with broccoli rabe and pancetta and meatballs with burrata are standouts. Diners should be aware that the appetizer portions are quite generous. The pizzas at Edgewater are delicious. We love the classic Tomato & Basil pizza and and the unique and aromatic Broccoli Rabe & Chicken Meatball pizza. Any review of Edgewater which does not recognize the restaurant's commitment to hospitality would be remiss. From the delightful host, Nicole, to a professional and warm service staff (Chrissy, Chris, Crystal, Julio and Melissa), Edgewater makes its guests feel welcome. I was in the Hamptons area two weekends ago when I visited Edgewater on a Saturday evening for an 8:30 reservation for a party of 6 with my girlfriends. We arrived at 8:33 and waited at the host stand for approximately 13 mins before the host checked us in. The restaurant was packed and there was only one host running around checking on the status of tables, collecting menus, seating parties, etc. She was very frantic and did not have the best attitude (don't blame her since it looked like a hectic dinner service). Another party of 6 arrived after us and checked in 5 minutes after our party, around 8:45-8:50. As we ordered drinks at the bar and waited to be seated, the other party of 6 was pressuring the host for a table. As 9 o'clock rolled around, I asked the host for an update on our table since we've now been waiting a half hour for a table which we had reservations for. She told us "you will be the next table to be seated". What she really meant was, we would be seated after the second party of 6 that arrived AFTER us. At 9:10, the other party of 6 was seated while my friends and I stood waiting. I was livid. I complained to the host and questioned why the party that arrived after us was sat before us. She stated that they supposedly had an 8 o'clock reservation, which I believed to be BS. Even if the party did have a reservation at 8, I do not feel it is right to honor their reservation which they were 45 mins late for while a party who arrived on time for the reservation waited additional time for their table. We were seated between 9:15-9:20. One of my girl friend's was pissed and asked the host to speak with the manager - who never came to the table. We then asked a bus boy 5 mins later to send over the manager - who still never came. The manager finally visited our table after we asked our server who greeted us about 10-15 mins after we were seated. When the manager finally arrived, we told him we asked to speak to him 3 times - which he claimed only one of his staff members approached him (our server). We were so frustrated and asked him why another party would be seated before us when we arrived before them, on time for our reservation. He apologized and told us he would speak with the host and offered us a round of appetizers on the house, which was very kind of him but I would have rather been seated on time to enjoy the meal with my friends. Now onto the meal - The manager served us appetizers on the house: fried cheese raviolis, tomato/goat cheese bruschetta, and a corn salad. All 3 were delicious! The tomato/goat cheese bruschetta is fantastic and a must if you are visiting Edgewater! For my entree I had the seafood stuff flounder which was served with a side of vegetables (zucchini/squash medley) . The flounder was delicious! It was a hearty portion and the flavor was on point. Fish was flaky and cooked perfectly. My one friend ordered the shrimp fra diavlo which was also delicious not as spicy as we would have liked it to be. Another one of my girl friend's ordered the orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage, which was good but a bit dry. Two of the other girls ordered their Ahi Tuna special for the evening and said the tuna cut like butter and tasted delicious. At the end of our meal, the manager was kind enough to send over a round of shots to once again apologize about the seating situation. Although it was not necessary, it was still a very kind gesture. I also wanted to mention that the restaurant is very nice on the inside - very modern and classy. The restaurant gets loud when it's busy but it is still very nice for groups. They also offered outdoor seating on their patio which is a nice touch. They have cool fish tanks in the middle of the restaurant with these beautifully colored fish that tied in the decor nicely. The grounds of the restaurant were very nice also - a lounge area outside that offered seating to enjoy your drinks while waiting for your table. Note that the parking lot is very small and gets packed quickly. To sum it up - 4 stars for their delicious food that was well portioned and priced & also the ambiance of the restaurant! But 2 stars for their service (more so the service with seating/reservations and not on our dinner service) TIP - make sure you arrive early because the parking lot is small and gets packed quickly! read more

My girlfriend and I went with another couple to Edgewater because they had a giftcard they needed to use before it expired. I didn't have particularly high expectations for Edgewater, since it was off season, but I figured it would be ok. We sat down and had a round of drinks before ordering our appetizers. We decided on a BBQ duck pizza and bruschetta. The pizza was absolutely delicious, and had I not been saving room for my entree I probably could have hoovered an entire pie of it. For my entree, I ordered pork osso bucco, which is a personal favorite of mine. It was on the specials menu, and I figured I'd give it a shot. The pork was served over a shaved white truffle risotto. It was absolutely delicious, and I was completely satisfied with it. The pork was incredibly tender. The risotto lost a little bit of its edge, as the sauce and juices from the pork mixed in with it, resulting in a loss of its own flavor. However, it was still quite enjoyable. My friends ordered the lobster pasta, which I also tasted. It was ok, but nothing to write home about. With dinner, I had a glass of sangiovese from the house wine list. It had almost no finish and was very underwhelming. My girlfriend has a glass of petit verdot, which also left something to be desired. We probably should have gotten a bottle for the table (seeing as there were four of us). Our server was very good, fairly quick, and pleasant. You know what Edgewater hands down has really good food and it was FRESH. My girl friends and myself were impressed with the food. I have to say that when we were seated in a very low lit area.... I was very annoyed and edgy......... but our waitress Lily was an absolute doll......... and she was sweet as well. She handled me with care. The food here was excellent and wasn't over priced. There was a wide variety of interesting things to try including the duck pizza. The drinks were decent but not great. We had margaritas which seemed to have a bit too much mix and not enough tequila. The service was hit or miss for us. When something was coming to the table they worked like clockwork and had people coming by with one thing after another and it was great, but for the minor things in between it was hard to get my waitresses attention.
