What can I say, I LOVE CAKE! And there are not many good spots where you can get a yummy slice of cake fresh when you want but here you can and man some days that cake has been all I need to make everything in the world right. It's very old school (in the best way) Pound Cake style with traditional icing. Just like my Granny use to make. Neither the cake nor the icing are too sweet really no matter what the flavor. Basic Vanilla and Lemon are my favorites. The slices are huge and I usually cut them in two. It's always a hit when I get it to serve for desert with friends or family. My "surprise" birthday cake was picked up by a friend and the shop had it in an open box that couldn't close and the only solution was to place a piece of aluminum foil with tape. How does a custom cake shop not have a range of boxes to accommodate orders??? I also didn't like the pickup window was after 3pm but they close at 4pm. The artwork of the cake is perfectly done as you can see in the pic. My little raccoon and fox are totes adorbz (as the kids say) but the cake itself just could not live up to the task. They do a great job decorating the cake and it taste delicious too. I inquired about the cake and immediately got an email and quote back. It was on a Sunday when they were closed so I was very happily surprised by the prompt reply. The shop itself is so bright with a lot of beautiful cakes, cupcakes etc. It is off a busy road and at times trying to park or back out can be challenging so if I pick up during that time I usually park across the street to make it easy on myself. They create made to order beautiful artistic designs. I've posted my daughter's requested cake which turned out EXACTLY as requested and on very short notice. Cake was delicious. We had chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. Tasted homemade (not box, but true old school home made) yet like a professional baked it, very rich, exactly how I like it. They did an excellent job. I posted a few cakes I took pictures of while in the shop picking up my cake which took only moments. They are pricey, however, not more than I've seen any personalized high end cakes. Well deserved, this is truly art. The joy of seeing my daughter love her cakes is worth it! This place is why I never pay attention to 5 Star reviews. The cake I received was nasty and I've never tasted a horrible birthday cake. I was better off at Food Lion. The cake tasted like dirt and the Betty Crocker makes a better cake frosting. The older lady in the bakery is rude and needs a lesson in hospitality. I want to start out by saying that I did email the cake shop before writing this review to give them a chance to rectify the situation. I ordered a custom cake for a Halloween party and picked it up the same day as my party. It was the smallest 2 tiered cake they offer with rather simple design/decoration that cost $260. This is what I wrote to them, which also perfectly sums up my feelings about the product: "I just wanted to let you know that I wasn't very happy with my cake for a few reasons. First, it was not as neat and professional looking as I expected based on the sample cakes you have in your shop. I was actually asked multiple times at my party if I made it myself. Not the look I was going for. Second, all of the stick on bats fell off before my guests even arrived at 7 pm. I did store the cake at room temperature at instructed. I had to put them all back on myself with toothpicks to hold them on before everyone arrived. Lastly, the cake itself was very dry. I realized it immediately when I tried a piece myself and also couldn't help but notice that none of my guests finished their pieces. I literally couldn't give away the extra at the end of the night. No one wanted it. I am disappointed. It was a rather expensive cake that I think I could have actually done better myself. Your sample cakes in your shop are excellent, which is why I ordered from you. No part of the cake met my expectation of a professional bakers' finished product. Despite my disappointment when I first saw the cake, I did just pay and take it because... what else was I going to do? I had already paid for more than half of it, my party was in a matter of hours so I wasn't going to find another one, and nothing good was going to come of being difficult to the nice young man who works your cash register. I just thought you should know about this." Their response was that they have a sign in the shop that says "please allow us to address any concerns you have before leaving the shop." Apparently there is nothing they can do once the cake leaves the shop. I mean... were they going to be able to make me an entirely new cake that is 100% better than the one I was looking at in a matter of a few hours? No. That's why I did not bother the young teenage boy who took my remaining balance from me with this. This was not something that was going to be addressed on the spot before my party. As for "there is nothing we can do now," there actually is. You can refund some or all of what I paid for an extremely inadequate product. Since I don't see that happening, I at least thought others should know about this before placing a custom order with this shop. I was surprised this happened because all of the other reviews seem good, which is not an accurate representation of my experience. The price was also rather high, which lead me to believe I was going to get what I paid for. Clearly, I was wrong. read more

I had ordered a cake online from Alabama for my sisters birthday. The theme was Katamari Damacy, this crazy japanese video game where you roll everything up into a ball. I LOVE any cake that can be considered close to "classic wedding cake." When I think of classic wedding cake, I think almond or vanilla, with delish buttercream! And lots of it! I heard Edible Art carries slices of both daily, and since I was in the area, I decided Wednesday was perfect day for a piece! This was my first visit and I was surprised that the case inside the store was empty. I was nervous I made the trip for no reason! But, they did have slices in the back. I know this is primarily a special order bakery, but I expected to see something in the case. The employee said they had vanilla, almond, chocolate, lemon and I think carrot cake for slices. I got a vanilla and almond so I could try both! Each slice was $5, which I thought was a little pricey for the size. The slice of almond was bigger than the vanilla, although. I would say I didn't love one flavor more than the other. Each slice was packaged in their own small box. Not sure if they were a little old or what, but I did find the cake part a little drier than I like. The buttercream was smooth and tasty on both, not too sweet. Sadly, Jackie refuses to admit any wrong doing or take responsibility. Our shower decorations were pink and lavender and the cake was blue. Again, just stick to what they have done many times and spare the embarrassment on a very expensive cake. There was absolutely nothing you could have done to fix the situation in the time frame I needed, unless you were planning on throwing the cake in the garbage and had the cake I requested ready for backup! Having a better attitude and offering any sort of compensation would have sufficed just fine in being able to help me. read more

When I picked up the cake, it was exactly what I had envisioned. However it tasted....okay? As if it had been made 3 days earlier and refrigerated maybe. We had a huge party for a milestone birthday and everyone kept saying "the cake looks great" but no one said it tasted good! Also the price was $$$$$$$$. So I'm torn; it is definitely art and the staff is great, I'm just not sure it was worth the price if no one wanted a second serving.
