Didn't have to wait, which was great, and walked right into a spacious and inviting dining room. We ordered the sweet potato hash and the sausage egg biscuit. The one downside to our dining experience that's worth noting is that you have to order and pay through your mobile phone using the QR at the table. There is no waiter service other than bringing out your food that you've ordered at through your phone. I'm really bummed to see the negative ratings I personally, adore Edie Joes. My boyfriend and I had the absolute pleasure of eating here (as well as FROM here thanks to Covid)a total of 7 times over the last 10 months. Our first time was for dinner and then we immediately came back the following day for breakfast, both times were 10/10. Favorite breakfast item is the soft scrambled eggs! Just delicious and will hopefully return once life resumes to normal. We spent a magical Valentine's Day evening here, feasting on a 4 course dinner which will not be forgotten anytime soon. Sadly, we have decided to leave Brooklyn for a while to to explore elsewhere but we made sure to indulge in a final (DELICIOUS) dinner from Edie joes . We were lucky enough to get the ribeye dinner for two special! The roasted potatoes were just heavenly. We ordered a day in advance and the restaurant actually took the time to call us JUST to make sure we didn't mistakenly order for the wrong day. If you live close by and are looking for a yummy meal to brighten your day, please do yourself a favor and order from here! This was the first place I tried after moving to PLG based on a friend's recommendation, and I've brought a few other friends here since. My first few times here I had no issue ordering food (which is done through a website accessed through a QR code), but recently I've had trouble paying through the site. The fried chicken sandwich is excellent and I've enjoyed the cocktails here too, although it's usually been pretty empty when I've visited which is a bit of a bummer. To celebrate a few October birthdays my friend made a reservation for 15-20 people at Edie Jo's. About 15 people showed up (not all at once; there were a few groups arriving at different times) and were seated immediately. Propped up on the wall was a cute sign wishing all of the October babies a happy birthday, which was a nice touch. In general the food was good, but it was my first time in the area so I'm not sure how it compares to nearby restaurants. I tried a few appetizers (decent but not particularly memorable) as well as the shrimp with remoulade and cauliflower soup. They were tasty but perhaps too salty? A few folks ordered the chicken sandwich and it looked so good that I felt like I might've made a mistake with the shrimp and soup. A few days before the reservation I'd asked if I could store some birthday pies at EJ's for celebrating after dinner. The staff (particularly Kit and the chef, whose name I forgot to get) were super accommodating. After dinner I asked for the pies to be brought out and expected them to just put them on the table with some plates and let us fend for ourselves, but they actually went the extra mile and began to reheat and slice them for us. Unfortunately my timing wasn't the best and most of us were too full of delicious food and drink to have room for dessert (also some people had to leave) so we ended up just giving each birthday person a whole pie to take home. All in all I felt like we had a positive experience. My only (minor) complaint is that my phone had some trouble recognizing the Toast QR code for ordering. Fortunately someone else at our table texted the link to me and it was fine. In the future I think it'd be helpful if the URL / link were displayed along with the QR code, but maybe it was and I just missed it? Oh also there were a few times when a condiment was missing or a drink took a while to come out, but it seemed like everyone was pretty swamped with work. tl;dr: good food, kind staff, would recommend, would visit again :) read more

The place looks lovely. The menu is small but this is new so that's the right way to start. I really liked my dish, but wasn't blown away. I had the bluefish. My friend ordered the same and hated it. So it's obviously all a matter of taste. The scallop ceviche tasted pretty good. This is not a traditional ceviche and that's fine. But it really more of a peach salad that has a scallop in there. I racked the stars up to 4 for great customer service. It definitely has promise and I'd try it again sometime. read more

Stoked that Edie Jo's joined the neighborhood! I've been waiting anxiously for something to open in the gorgeous window covered corner spot next to Greenlight, and I think Edie Jo's fits the bill. I've already been a couple times for drinks and can't wait to stop by once they launch their food service next week. The space has a cool nouveau diner feel: wood slat benches, low hanging ceiling lamps, tons of bar seating (with hooks for your bag!), an open kitchen, and sweet oldies playing in the background. The service so far has been attentive and the drinks are tasty. I'm a huge fan of the Eastside, a gin cocktail with cucumber and mint. Super refreshing and smooth. I'll be back soon! read more

I haven't been impressed with a restaurant in a long time. This place is amazing. From the ambiance to the food. The playlist is the perfect blend of vibes and rhythm. Everything is phenomenal. You know a place is good when their fries are good. We ordered the chicken sandwich, the French toast, and the avocado toast. The chicken is perfectly cooked and battered. The honey pairs with both the sandwich and the fries in a way you would not imagine. Everything is seasoned excellently. None of these dishes miss. Special shout out to the Mocha as well! It took too long for me to finally experience Edie Jo's. We finally came here on a weekday night and right away I knew whatever ideas I had about Edie's were wrong. From outside at night I had seen many lights, dim wood tables, candles and it appeared kind-of fancy. I was surprised to find that the ambiance was actually pretty relaxed. There was a man calming reading his book with a beer in hand and another 2 group of friends just catching up in regular clothes*. No dress up necessary! Upon coming in, you go through the standard temperature check and giving your details. Then you can read of their menu on the wall or use their barcode to see the menu on your phone. We ordered two cocktails and learned that they were pre-made. They did not taste fresh and were small in quantity. I would suggest going with their beers and wines (they had a decent selection.) Moreover, I was happy with their food. I had a burger with fries and THOSE fries. My partner compared them to Mc Donald's fries, though they were definitely thinner and crunchier. Even the pickles were tasty, slightly sweet and I enjoyed a cheesy sauce on the burger. My partner had the coconut risotto with I believe mushrooms. It was a comforting meal, but left you craving more. We had a good time here. The staff was nice, the food pretty satisfying and the vibes pleasantly relaxed. read more

I will give it 2 stars for the food and for the fact that I've never ever ever felt the need to leave a bad review before, especially because I've worked in service for years and I really understand how it can be. So even doing this at all feels wrong. I've just never had such a bizarre and unwelcoming experience at a restaurant before. I will start on a positive note in that as a Palestinian I can confidently say that if you want good hummus, this place definitely has it. I sat myself at the bar and had to wait around 30-40 mins before being acknowledged at all. I was worried the whole time that it wasn't supposed to be self seating, but once I finally got the chance to ask, I learned it in fact was allowed at the bar. At a couple points the bartenders walked away while I was mid question and making eye contact (so it's not a case of them just not hearing me, which was so bizarre) and I was passed several times while any attempt at asking to get my order taken was ignored, only for those bartenders to eventually walk around and sit at the bar with other patrons that they knew. People next to me who came after I did were asked if they needed anything several times before I even got my first drink. When I was finally noticed they were like "oh I didn't even see you there..." it's a small bar, I made eye contact a bunch, tried to signal ordering the way you would at any other bar or restaurant. A couple times they would ask if I needed anything, but then it would never come. One person who was sitting in the spot before me never had their glasses or water jug bussed so at some point I just used the the left behind water jug for myself, which I didn't mind as it's not like they're drinking out of the thing, but it was weird. Felt weirdly high school with how familiar guests were treated vs myself. Really the worst was just that the bartenders seemed annoyed in a way that felt like I was doing something wrong by even being there. :( I want to believe it was just an odd night off but it was pretty consistently bad across each person working that night. I still tipped well and was very thankful throughout my time there as I don't believe being angry or rude is the right way to mend a weird situation. I hope it was just a weird or busy night but I don't think I will be going back. I really wanted to like this place as like I said before, the food was really nice. I've come to this place like 4x's. But the last time was my last. First I paid with an Amex for a to-go order and was asked for ID. I'm not asked for ID when I'm buying thousands of dollars of stuff, but okay. I sat at the bar and waited for my well done burger, where I noticed ppl dining in weren't asked for ID, why was I? I also have never been asked for an ID at any dine in restaurant ever. Next I saw other black women come in and they were asked for vaccination cards and ID. The lady taking orders made a big deal about seeing them together. Then a white couple came in, flashed their vaccination cards and were seated. Hmmm why weren't they scrutinized the same way? This felt like a microagression towards the black women in the restaurant, myself included. Also I ordered a well done burger, when I got home it was medium rare inside. I wanted to go back so bad, but it's a 15 minute walk. Hopefully the staff is trained to treat all people the same. read more

Such a nice spot we stumbled across last night while walking on Flatbush Ave. Hardly anything was opened for food but Edie Jo's had some mac and cheese that was so good. Shoutout to the bartender Ty ("like Thai food") for making a bomb ass blackberry whiskey sour but, most importantly, being welcoming and an overall dope human being. We definitely felt the good vibes and energy in this place and, while we only got Mac and cheese and a cocktail, we'll be back to get a fuller dining experience. This place is hit or miss. I have been here a few times because its close to home. Your experience will really be defined by who your server is. The food and the drinks are fine, but your experience will be ruined by the lack of attention. We ordered drinks and they sat at the bar for over 10mins and my husband finally decided to just stand up and get them himself. No one really came to say anything about it - mind you the place had like 3 tables. Empty for a Saturday brunch. Its disappointing because this place is not cheap so the least I expect is good service when I already order through an app and am doing half the server's work. A pretty quiet calm atmosphere so you can actually have a conversation with your friends and not have to scream but also enough space between you and the other patrons so it's not overly intimate with other people. Decor is super cute I love the string LED lighting looks like you're under a starry field kind of. Bartenders were all really nice. I only took off one star because after we ordered food nobody came to clear our plates which I thought was a little odd and so we ended up busing our own table just to have things cleared while we were drinking more beer. read more

Ok #1 learn what hash is. #2. It was honestly, no lie, no exaggeration, gross, under cooked, chunks of pork the size of a lincoln log. I am not making this up. PLUS IT WAS $16.00.... unreal!!!!!!!! My wife had the kale salad... it was like card board and WAY to salty. Dressing was awful. Another friend had the bacon egg and cheese... well, simply put, mediocre. Fries were okay at best. The drinks were honestly the only good thing and I leave it at good, nothing spectacular. The drinks cost $10 each, I'm sorry bit those drinks deserved $6 at the most. A complete rip off. I truly wanted to love it, but after two frustrating Saturday brunches, I threw in the towel. Let me backtrack here. I should have started with parking being easy to find considering it's Flatbush Avenue. I also found the decor peaceful, the staff very friendly and seating pretty fast. The food is also flavorful with a simple menu that works for both adults and children used to dining out. After that, the experience goes downhill. For some odd reason, they're unable to provide my entire meal in one shot. The first time, it was my cheese sausage for my sausage and eggs; I ate all of my eggs waiting for them to bring out my sausage, and I was really nibbling slowly to give them time, but they were so. damn. slow... Without the eggs to balance them, the sausage was a little salty. The next time, I had to wait for my bacon to arrive along with my eggs. They took so ridiculously long (I looked at my watch this time - 15 minutes and counting), I simply canceled the order. These things happen when you eat out. The problem is, there is *zero awareness* that it's a problem. No one says, "I'm sorry for the wait, your food will be out in x minutes." It's as if they think ignoring it makes it not a thing. Which is troubling to me! The other annoyance was that they served (not bad) coffee but no spoons to stir the coffee. This also happened on both occasions! I'm not sure what to make of these lapses in basic service, because they are otherwise quick and attentive. As we left, I looked back into the kitchen hoping it was maybe chaotic or short-staffed; it was neither.
