Not what it used to be. I had Edith's nearly every week when they were operating out of Paulie G's in Greenpoint. I've been to their new location twice, and it's Just not the same. It's not made with love or quality assurance as it used to. No longer has that artisanal feel that makes it worth the price tag. The veggie sabich used to come with the perfect six minute egg. Today, mine came with a sloppy underdone fried egg, even though they still advertise 6 minute egg on the menu. I won't even go into the debacle that was the rest of my order. We had been waiting a while to try it and finally did. It did not disappoint ! The flavors in each item went together amazingly! We got the middle eastern sandwich and the Sephardi breakfast wrap. Hot pastrami on rye w horseradish mustard: best pastrami sandwich I've had in decades. Wow! BEC&L on the Chicago bagel was incredible. The Chicago has a nice little spice to it. The staff was very friendly and I liked that. Quick service on a Wednesday morning. Expect this place to get busier as people learn of it. My one complaint is that the to-go coffee cup kept dripping and got all over my shirt. I stumbled across Edith's as I was showing an apartment across the street and I'm so glad my Buyer had time to grab a bite. We both ordered The Edith and it was to die for! Every bite finished with ooh's and ahh's. OMG, it was so delicious! The bread was grilled to perfection, slightly crispy and cheesy. The pastrami was moist and pared so well with the sauerkraut and their special sauce. My sandwich was piping hot and when I opened it, I thought oh let me just eat half and save the other half for later, but I wolfed down the whole sandwich in one sitting! Decided to walk over a little after 9am (when they open) on Saturday to see how long the line was. It was surprisingly tame (3-4 people ahead of us) and only waited 10 min to order and another 10-15 for food. The shakshuka bun was pretty much room temp (even with the egg)... not sure if that's how it's supposed to be, but would have been better hot. The BEC&L on Chicago bagel was hot and delicious! There are a lot of recent negative reviews saying this place is overhyped which means it's no longer overhyped. It actually might be underrated now? I love the middle eastern style of bagel, it's a bit chewier than other bagel types. Their recipes are really clever and delicious. I'd give it a try if you're in the area! read more

I have a mixed feeling about this place. I tried at their pop-ups and the permanent location. I love their middle eastern breakfast sandwich. The tomato jam and cheese and scallion go well together. But at the same time, their famous hand-twisted bagels sometimes are extremely hard and chewy. I ordered one plain bagel around 12pm and took it back home and lighted toasted it around 5pm and it was so hard and chewy it made my mouth very sore. Idk what's the problem here. read more

THE SANDWICH I WAITED A YEAR FOR! I first found Edith's on Instagram and just like everyone, I was obsessed with the tahini coffee slush. So, on my last visit to NY, I planned to go get it but couldn't leave the city and go to BK. Fast forward to this summer, they announced their opening in Tiny's Tribeca and I knew I had to make a trip down to get my Sephardi wrap and coffee slush. As someone who has watched the malawach sizzle and drooled over my phone for so long, the last ten minutes from my ordering the sandwich to getting it was so tough but I survived, tahini coffee in hand, and received the perfectly hot, delicious sandwich in due time. It was so worth it because one bite and I couldn't get over how delicious everything was. The chicken sausage may just have been the best I have ever had. The spicy harissa mayo was delicious and I am not even a huge mayo fan. The pickled peppers added some acid and cut the fat and creaminess of the amazing soft scrambled eggs. Not to mention all these ingredients tucked into the most flaky, buttery malawach pita you have ever tasted! I was in heaven and I can't wait to go back! read more

I can't understand how this place has any negative reviews. If the bagels aren't what you expect from your bodega or local bagel shop doesn't mean the whole place needs to be torn down. There's a reason for the hype and if you're coming because of it you know they make a unique bagel to the city which is hand twisted, chewy and a variety of flavors. The quality of the food you're getting is fresh with so much made in house. I have been lucky to eat here for months from their pop up to their now new location too convenient to me. So I can say all this with confidence. And I get it once or twice a week I have tried almost every breakfast sandwich at this point and I can't find one thing to complain about. I loved the smoked whitefish sandwich, their smoked salmon and middle eastern are my top choice. Today I had the chickpea schnitzel and holy ****, that garlic aioli is sublime. If you aren't feeling breakfast go for that. I can't wait to try the Edith as well. Their sauce from the BECL should be sold by the bottle. I don't get the BECL but usually get a latke on the side. I also try to get their special sandwiches and recently the spring sandwich was beyond. A tad messy to eat but who cares. . Their ever changing pastries are heaven. And now they have a take out fridge for more amazing items such as pickles and cream cheese to take home. The bagels aren't your standard ones and chewy but I'm obsessed. Go to bagelsmith if you want your run of the mill bagel sandwich Which you'll probably even pay more for. every time I've come they've been so friendly and I listen as people ask a million questions and they love to help. Cute place now on Lorimar Street. The food however is quite disappointing. The brisket sandwich is a mess. It is in pita along with a mushy egg mix and a cold potato pancake. The everything bagel had red pepper flakes- why? Also, it sounds cute to have brick oven bagels but they are chewy almost to the point of inedible. Waited on line the first time I came and ordered 2 bagels, toasted with cream cheese, and the chocolate sesame twist. Bagels came out cold, dense, and chewy. Not bad, but would've been 100% better if warmed up. The twist was also really delicious. Second time around, no line and when I ordered two bagels, toasted, they said they don't toast . I bit the bullet either way, and ordered two bagels and a chocolate twist. This time the bagels were even chewier and denser, and literally half of my bagel was black and burnt.
