Also ordered calamari for appetizer, but it took a while, and they brought it out after we were already halfway through the sushi. And it wasn't traditional calamari. The interior meat was in a long block, and didn't really have any flavor. I wouldn't even call it worth $5, let alone whatever the actual price was. Creme brulee on the menu literally isn't creme brulee. It's cheesecake. I mean I guess it was good, but just call it a cheesecake. Wtf? One cool thing - my dad ordered salmon, and they gave him 4 small raw filets, and a roaring-hot stone slab, so he could cook it himself. Was craving sushi and wanted a not too cheap but also not too expensive place. In my opinion this place hit the spot. Solid service, clean restaurant, and pretty good food. Parking was easy as it was part of park meadows mall. Seated quickly, server was attentive, and was able to get in and out quickly. Ordered a mix of nigiri (otoro, salmon roe, uni), two rolls (spider and negi hama), but made the mistake of ordering two entrees (chirashi and kobe yakiniku). Too much food and had to take the rest home. Overall nirigi was good, salmon roe was not as seasoned. Rolls solid as well. The only thing different was the yakiniku was supposed to be a grilled rice beef bowl and not gyudon (simmered beef). Still good but not what I was expecting. read more

Fresh fresh! We had the floating boat and it was a lot of food. Our two rolls were the Reed and the New Style Salmon. Small up charge for two premium rolls, but it was totally worth it. I wish I could say something more positive about last night's dining experience at Edo Higan but it didn't quite meet our expectations based on what we experienced. It was four of us girls that included my adult daughter who used to dine here quite often as this was her favorite place to eat sushi. She is quite well-versed in their menu so she could point out some of the good ones she has had in the past and yet, most of the stuff we ordered last night were something she had never had before. Her half sister had some soft-shell crab type roll which she didn't care for. She also had a Vanilla Crème Brulee at the end but it was pretty much a cheesecake and it wasn't anything like Crème Brulee at all (and tasted meh.) My daughter's travel bestie had some sort of wagyu roll which was again okay-ish. Service (although it started out pretty good as one female and one male workers collaborated to take care of us but once the restaurant got a bit busier, the quality of their attentiveness suffered. This is not the waitstaff's fault; they appeared to have way too many tables to take care of. Maybe they were understaffed last night. The fault was on the management.) At least what my daughter and I got were decent to good (my daughter got three nigiris: Tuna, Yellowtail and Salmon which all looked fresh. I got me the Sashimi Dinner. The presentation was beautiful where all fish pieces were masterfully placed on ice cubes in an oversized bowl. I especially liked the escolar fish. A little fun fact about escolar. This buttery texture sometimes labeled as "white tuna" is also known as walu fish or oilfish and it belongs to the family of snake mackerel. Eating this delicacy, however, can cause gastrointestinal distress such as diarrhea if consumed in excess (LOL)! For me, it was only two pieces and I am absolutely fine as of this writing.) If I go ahead and mention more positive things about this restaurant is their Happy Hour menu. It's quite the size. I arrived first to the restaurant at/around 4:45pm where I was waiting for the other three girls. The kind female waitstaff told me to place my order as soon as possible before it ended so I took advantage of that by placing two miso soups, two edamames (one salt and the other garlic) and one house salad (they were all half off.) Other items appeared to be reasonably priced so for this reason, I might be back for a quick sushi happy hour. They seem to pay attention to the overall cleanliness of the restaurant; the entire dining room looked spotless. It's quite spacious where all tables are not in a cramped space. Well, in conclusion, giving this place a 3-star review would be fair. read more

Cant beat the happy hour, the location, and the quality. They fall into the top tier of sushi where its very good taste/portion/quality what I would call the top 20. Some pieces fall into epic culinary but for the most part its just great sushi. Yellowtail is delicious, and more rare cuts (fatty versions) are usually a step up. I've never had a bad bite here, and love that its near park meadows. Seating hasn't been an issue when I go in, and noise is usually low. I could see at its peak being a bit less intimate. Being right off the mall parking is sometime challenging but never horrible. Highly recommend happy hour for the sushi deals, just don't steal my seat. read more

This is our go to sushi spot in the Denver area. Let's start with the ambiance, it's got a funky decor (I can't really describe it) it's super clean and we have never had to wait for a table! Also the staff is always super friendly. Happy hour is weekdays 3-6. I highly recommend going during that time and saving money bc the cocktails are a little on the pricey side. However, I think it's well worth it. The Lychee Martini is the best I've ever had and my souse loved the old Fashioned. We have eaten here numerous of times and no matter what roll we order we are always impressed. The Twister Roll and the Kobe Roll are two of our favorites but honestly we have never had a single one that we haven't enjoyed. The fish is always super fresh!!! The Reed roll & the new salmon roll are good despite being drowned in sauce. I would ask for no sauce or light sauce should I try them again. Where I think Edo is unique is their Blackstone Grill, which was the bulk of our meal (because if we want sushi, we prefer to go to Platte Park/Wash Park area). It's part experience and atmosphere and great wait staff that drove the four stars for this particular review. My only thought is I wonder if the Kobe beef is really Wagyu beef given the amount for the price, I would expect real Kobe beef to be much higher price point. The garlic pepper sauce that we got as dipping sauce for the salmon and the beef was really delicious and a nice sauce, you only need a little bit for a touch of flavor enhancement. read more

First, the positives... we have been coming here for years and the food and service are always good and feel like they have reasonable prices. Second, the negative. This past weekend came in for a special event. There was dog wondering around the restaurant on a leash but the leash was retractable so the dog could wonder amongst the tables for 20-30 feet and did so. At one point, it appeared to pee on the floor. For those that may claim this was a service animal, most service animals are trained to remain beside their companion. Others may be ok with this but I expect a little better sanitary conditions. After years of Edo Higan being one of our go-to sushi restaurants, probably won't return. read more

I've been here twice so far fo lunch since I'm a huge sushi lunch fan. I love coming here after a good shopping session. They have a full lunch menu that satisfies everyone's taste. The restaurant itself has patio and indoor seating. The patio is covered which is nice for the warmer sunnier days. I opted for their sushi & sashimi combo that comes with soup OR a salad. I chose a salad. Their dressing is unique and not the traditional Japanese salad dressing with a sesame or ginger flavoring. But I really enjoyed it. The meal it self was surprisingly a decent size and very fresh. The sashimi was plump and sliced large unlike a lot of sushi restaurants. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menue. If you're in the Park Meadows area, definitely check them out. read more

It's been so long since I've had sushi this good! Before I get to that I gotta say I loved the environment because it was so spacious. Service was a tad slow, but the food was worth every second. So I ordered the mini udon expecting it to be overpriced since the menu only said udon and spicy tuna roll. But it came with so much stuff! A very pleasant surprise. Everything was great but what really made my heart soar was the fatty salmon. MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH. Absolute best part of the dining experience and the presentation was awesome. This was my second visit to Edo Higan, it was even better than my first visit. We started our meal with the American Dream Roll, which was amazing. Our entrees consisted of our choice of miso soup or salad, we ordered one of each; the salad was noteworthy, it was not your typical house salad. We both ordered the Kobe Strip Steak cocked on a Black Rock Grill. The Black Rock Grills is a volcanic rock heated to 800 degrees, and you cook your meat selection on it. This was an amazing experience, typically I am not impressed with Kobe Beef, but the Kobe at this restaurant was exceptional. We had good service and I highly recommend this restaurant, especially if you haven't tried stone cooking or enjoy sushi. read more

After having a baby I've been dying to eat sushi again and decided to try Edo Higan. We did delivery since we have a newborn at home, and while I've had disappointing sushi delivery experiences from other restaurants in the past, that was not the case with Edo Higan. Everything was delicious and didn't seem to lose anything by doing delivery versus dining in. We ordered the spicy edimame, gyoza, sun fire roll, twister roll, and spicy crispy tuna. While all were very good, I think my favorite was the sun fire roll. I loved that it had spicy salmon inside and was then also topped with spicy tuna- it all tasted really fresh. My husband's favorite was the spicy crispy tuna which was a very unique dish that I've never seen elsewhere. It was like a crispy rice ball that has the spicy tuna on the inside, topped with avocado and jalapeño. I also very much appreciated the variety of dipping sauces we got with our order. The dipping sauces for the gyoza were especially good- one was like a horseradish wasabi or honey mustard wasabi and was very good. We'll definitely be visiting Edo Higan in person next time! read more

This was the second time I've gone here for lunch. Both times it was pretty quiet which was nice as they were both working lunches for me. The first visit - I had sushi. This time, I decided to try something off the lunch menu. I really wanted udon since the weather was cold out and then saw a mini version that came with 4 rolls of sushi. That's what I opted for and got the spicy tuna. We also got the spicy edamame to start. Very tasty! When the lunch came - it was bento box style and also had tempura and a rice cake thing. SO much food!! The udon was a good size and hit the spot. I've always enjoyed some tempura! The sushi was fresh and good. And the rice cake was really good.
