Service was fantastic, food was well presented, all in all a good meal. Faves were the toro trio and the hamachi nigiri!

We loved this place! Our friends come here so often that the server knows them! The server was AMAZING! He was super helpful with any questions we had, and was very knowledgeable. My boyfriend asked about their Sake offerings and what he would like, and the server helped him find the perfect one for his palate! I ordered the hibachi dinner with steak and shrimp. The steak was buttery and the shrimp was flavorful! It also came with miso soup and a house salad. I cannot remember the price, but I think it was about $26 which it totally fair in my opinion for how much you get!

I had been wanting to try this place for awhile. Unfortunately, their hours had changed and we missed them a couple of times. Since traffic was not bad, we took the other route back from the airport. Arriving about 1:30pm, I had to contend with a few other drivers and geese in the parking. The restaurant still had a few patrons from the lunch hour. The windows were tinted enough to let some light in. They had a few different chef's special rolls that we found intriguing. We settled on the Bincho, Taco, Unagi, and Kanpachi Nigiri with Fantastic Roll (Tuna, salmon, mango, avocado & fried onion inside, mix green salad, topped withstrawberry sauce); Naruto Roll (yellowtail; cucumber wrapped with avocado & masa), Toro Trio (Yellowtail toro avocado and scalllion topped with toro of tuna and salmon and chef's special sauce). The Toro Trio was our favorite. There are a couple of more rolls that we are interested in trying so it seems another visit is warranted.

Parking is plenty, the ambiance is chill, service was friendly & the food is good! The waiter kept saying "sweetie" though and it's a bit cringe, but that's just me. I got the Hibachi Filet Mignon & it was really good! The sauce was a bit garlic-y to me but if you love garlic, then it won't be an issue at all. I also got Thai iced tea -- very yummy. I'm a sucker for good Thai iced teas.

Yikes... I dunno where to start, so here's just a bulleted list of our experience: -Wait: Not bad; no reservations and we got in with a short 5-min wait on a Saturday night -Service: We waited for a solid 15 minutes before getting any acknowledgement; let alone waters or our order. I get it- it's busy, but when we see tables next to us getting through 2 or 3 courses before our order goes in, that feels like poor timing. Also- know sure if it was just an off night- be we saw several spills, broken glasses, etc. The table next to us had like half a bowl of soup spilled onto their table by the server.... thankfully, everyone kept their cool (on both sides), but it was a bit awkward to witness. Maybe someone should take a breather outside? -Food: Marginal at best. Our sushi was less than impressive- and for the price we paid, we most definitely could have gone elsewhere. Also- you ever see the person who eats at a fancy restaurant but goes home and still eats a hamburger? That was us- we left still hungry, and ended up heating a pizza at home. Rough... maybe I'll check it out again on a business lunch when I'm not footing the bill? But not rushing back anytime soon.

Good quality, pricy. I had two sushi classic rolls for $16. Which is probably regular price anywhere else. So not really a lunch special

First of all, big "Congratulations" to the restaurant and its staff for the grand opening just a few days ago!! I was so elated to find out, upon asking the manager type person when I went there to place my to-go order earlier this evening, that it opened just two days ago under a new ownership and that I was one of the first customers to experience this new kid on the block. And I'm the very first to write a review about it. I certainly was humbled by it! I was warmly welcomed by pretty much every staff upon entering it. It's was 23 minutes after 5pm so it was still early for dinner on this beautiful Saturday night in DTC. There was only 1 family that was dining at the time. I only wanted a few to several items from the menu so I went with Miso Black Cod, Tuna Tataki, and Hamachi (nigiri). I was told it'd be about 10 min so I went to the boutique next door to kill time. When I went back there my order was completely ready. The young lady at the reception (she might possibly a waitstaff, too) almost came out of the restaurant to give me my food. What a great service! Miso Black Cod: was well-marinated with miso with the right amount of saltiness. It was cooked to perfection where the texture was impeccably tender and moist. I really liked the fact that it was placed over a bed of asparagus. It was a decent portion even for an appetizer. I found it a bit odd though that it was accompanied by several cherry tomatoes (cooked/pan-fried); just a frank opinion of it. Hamachi (nigiri): Bit small (especially the rice part) but very fresh. Hamachi can be hit and miss. It has to be absolutely fresh or it'll taste nothing but fishy. With that said, their hamachi gained my approval. Tuna Tataki: This was also good. The portion is pretty generous for the kind of price ($14). A very shallow ponzu sauce was at the bottom of the to-go container. There was absolutely no need for me to use soy sauce or anything else when I ate it. I simply placed it over my warm rice and ate it like I always do. This is now my go-to sushi place in my neighborhood. Surviving as a restaurant in this tech center might be tough no matter the economy as I have seen many restaurants come and go. I wish nothing but the best for this new business!! Keep up the good work!

And normally I'm grumpy about "sauces" being on all the rolls, because that usually means goopy, overpowering sauces, but here they were light and perfectly complemented the rolls. I never touched my soy sauce! Also many places make a heap of tempura shrimp for rolls at the beginning of the shift (if you're lucky) so they are cold and soggy in the roll. But my shrimp was still warm and crispy! It was the perfect offset of temperature, texture, and flavor in the roll (as is should be). In general, it's been a laid back, go-to place to get a meal that will be much better than average for the price. I've been many times since before and after COVID, and it was one of my favorite repeatable spots in Denver. However, the crew totally dropped the ball with our visit today. My wife ordered a tonkatsu ramen and got a chicken tonkatsu set instead (chicken cutlet, not bowl of ramen). To not make it weird, we just let that one be for the greater good of the table because it was our anniversary, grandparents were visiting, and we are here often. Our hamachi kama (one of my favorite dishes in the entire city, normally something I'd highly recommend on this review) was never sent to the kitchen, leaving us waiting for over an hour with two young kids at the table who had finished 40 minutes before. I watched the staff's confusion from my seat, even after we had been told that it was on its way. It was never even started, and it was obvious. That stuff happens, but it's hard to hide what happened in an open kitchen where you can hear what people are saying. But then after they had the "oh crap" moment, it wasn't even expedited. It was gonna take so long that it wasn't worth getting, so two people had to leave our not-busy lunch without getting the main thing we brought them to Ototo for. We were asked to wait for the dish, waited 15 more minutes, and it was not even close to ready. And while I appreciated the apology, the manager initially just tried to "take the dish off the bill," a dish we never received. So he basically tried to do nothing because no restaurant would charge for something that never came out. After I pointed this out, they took off part of the check, but that attempt at nothing under the guise of a comp was crazy. I've easily spent thousands at Ototo over the years. I've sent tons of people to Kizaki, Temaki Den, and the others. This will probably be the last time I go to Ototo. If you read some of the recent bad reviews, something is not working here anymore. I hope the otherwise amazing service at the other Dens can find its way back to Ototo.

It is priced at market value, so I imagine this could vary over time, but they had three tiers for omakase, which I thought were all fairly priced for the amount of food included. We opted for the highest tier, which was $120 pp, and it was incredibly filling with high quality cuts of fish and a thoughtfully curated menu. The sushi chef who took care of us was incredibly kind, and it was clear he put a lot of care into the food he prepared. There was also zero indication whether you seat yourself or wait to be seated, so customers are left awkwardly standing around wondering what's going on.
