Came to Chiu's after walking/driving by it everyday for years and was impressed by the adorable decor of the restaurant and the yummy food. We came on a Thursday evening, only one other couple was there - surprised it was so empty. But that meant our order was taken quite quickly and our food came out quickly as well! I have been coming to Chiu's for over year. My family and I love it here. If you do not get the Amazing Tuna with the Cilantro sauce you are missing out! We've ordered from Chiu's for years to pick up when we come down to the marina in Baltimore. It's our Thursday night constant when coming in to the city. They have increasingly been sloppy with pick up times, making me wait and not being ready by the time I ordered. I adjusted my order time and that seemed to take care of their inaccuracy. Today I placed an order to pick up at 8:30, knowing that Waze said I'd get there at 8:45. When I walked in they hadn't even started the order. They disappeared, so I couldn't cancel, and 18 minutes later when she came out she said sorry. If she had given me the food without a charge I'd be singing their praises for handling a dropped order. The fact that they ran my credit card means I won't ever order from them again. And the marina is a small community so I think they'll see a drop in business. I think something key that people should remember when ordering delivery is that the delivery driver tosses the food into their passenger seat and your display may get messed up, sauces may slide all over, and a 20 minute drive in a steamy container can do some damage to the presentation of your sushi. I've ordered from them but every time I have the order was very late (~25-45) minutes later than the actual time it said it was ready for pickup. They aren't open on Mondays but rest of the week they are. Not self seating, fast take out, decore isn't loud, today's specials are always listed on the board under the TV when you enter. When we had a house fire, the insurance company put us up @ the Homewood Suites, and we ate at Chiu's at least once a week...never dissatisfied! My favorite roll is the Pretty Angel roll, which features a generous amount of lump crabmeat on top, and tempura shrimp inside, garnished with tobiko. Presentation is always tasteful, never over the top, and the service is stellar; everyone who works there is most attentive. Chiu is our go-to Sushi in all of Baltimore now, with Matsuri in Fed Hill and Katana in Canton being #2 and #3 respectively. I've visited Chiu's on occasion for lunch over the last 8 years because it's right by my job. In those 8 years I have to say that it went on the decline...and not just because Ra Sushi stepped on the scene a few short years ago. The quality of the lunch dishes just aren't as good as they used to be. My favorite dish USED to be the chicken teriyaki because the size of the chicken breast was great and the sides were proportionate. The last time I ate there, my dish was mainly full of bean sprouts and not much else. The miso soup appears to have more oil and salt than flavor and the tempura dishes are greasy to the touch. I mean squeeze your thumb and forefinger to the tempura'd shrimp or veggie & come back with your fingers shining like you oiled up with Vaseline in the summertime. On a lighter note, when you come in they offer you warm towels to wipe your hands and before you leave they give you these cute little boxes of flavored gum. Also, the fountain in the front of the restaurant is always clean and the fishees are pretty! P.S. It's Harbor East so if you're a couple looking for an intimate, quiet place to dine struggle for a spot to visit Chiu's...if you're looking for something a little more livelier , struggle to find a park around the corner & visit Ra Sushi instead. read more
