You can't gate keep a place everybody knows about. Edojin has fantastic food and fantastic people. Most people sit in the booths are at the tables, but I find most of the fun is right up at the bar talking with Dan. Sometimes Joe is there if he isn't off on an adventure. Service is quick and responsive. If there's something that you're craving and you can describe it the sushi chefs at the bar will try to re-create it for you. This place can get a little cramped at rush-hour times but if you make it before six on a weekday seating is fairly easy. If you don't prepare to wait a little while.

I came near closing time and the service was still spectacular. Servers made sure all of my questions were answered and timely service of food! I tried a few different rolls and all were great. It's located in a plaza on the end with plenty of parking. It has dark tinted windows and appears closed but they were open. Small inside but plenty of space for a group or date night.

My sister wanted sushi because she was down and this place had good reviews and less than 10 minutes from our place. I cannot believe we have never been here but we sure will be back. I would call this a hidden gem in Cypress. The young wait staff is super friendly and gives you the time to make a decision along with suggestions. My sister noticed it is dimly lit, but that also seems like a trend at most sushi restaurants. All of our choices were fresh and full of flavor. I will never go to the grocery store again for sushi.

Just left from here for lunch. I arrived at 11 and they don't open until 12...I waited haha. There were others who waited too. It's worth the wait. The sushi is so good and flavorful. I reccommend this place. It's chill, the food is yummy and it's BYOB! Try it out.

I wanted to give this place 5 starts just because of the sushi but I just can't. Service played a role in the rating. We came on a Wednesday after Happy Hour, and it actually didn't seem too packed. Never coming here before we didn't know it was self seating--so just a heads up have a seat somewhere. A girl came to tell us and we just sat down. The table was dirty...thankfully we had some lysol wipes. After about 10-15 mins finally a server came to us and took our order. We order 4 rolls, I'll get to the food later. After ordering, it took them 45 mins to bring out two rolls. Both were served with no ginger or wasabi, I'm not sure if that's something you have to request, but that's usually pretty standard practice in a sushi place. We waited another 15 mins for the next two (my friend's food) to come out before my friend and I could start eating...So in total we had waited an hour, which for a Wednesday and not too packed I thought was crazy. We saw orders going and coming, most were for take out, so maybe next time we just need to order to go...which brings me to the food. I wanna say it was worth the wait...but not an hour wait. Don't get me wrong, it was great sushi, and I recommend trying, just not eating at the actual restaurant. The rolls I got: Louisiana- if you like spicy, get this! It was so good. More spicy than I've ever had a Louisiana roll. Tiger Eye- put together nicely, smoked salmon on point. Both rolls were good sizes and well constructed. Again, I'd go back for just the sushi, but def not the wait.

This was a fabulous meal overall . The shaggy sushi was phenomenal and full of flavor. The spicy mayo combined with the crab and fish was very impactful. The only negative is that the individual sushi rolls were too big . This resulted in a less flavorful experience per bite because I had to eat half of the sushi at a time. The fried rice was lacking in flavor in general . The best sushi of all was Philly cut roll, the red one to be specific. The flavor was sharp and intense, a hint of spice as well. The chicken Katsu was good too but a bit on the tough side

I've been wanting to check this local sushi joint out for awhile after seeing rave reviews on various pages. While majority of this year they've been doing to-go online, I decided to wait until they opened the dining room in hopes to get great freshly made sushi. We had various types of sushi's and honestly ordered so much I forgot the names of them all. From sashimi to the rolls, all were excellent! For a local sushi restaurant, with excellent sushi and value, you can't go wrong!

We ordered two appetizers and two rolls, all of which were good. The food took quite a long time considering there weren't many people in the restaurant. Very clean, light music playing. They offered a free birthday dessert!

my family and i have been going to this restaurant for several years with what i would say is a great family restaurant . Service, Food etc. top notch. however, our last visit, Oct31st. was truly an eye opener . The food and service was Good, but the portions size of the Texas roll has shrunken beyond belief. Normally i order the chefs flight, and a Texas roll, which is more than enough food. this time was the first time i left hungry. 6 round circles on a small plate was a big surprise and not a good one. I am not certain if we will go back, maybe one time just to make sure the portion size has shrunk for good! read more

I really love eating at Edojin. This truly is a hole in the wall type of restaurant, but don't let that fool you! The sushi is not only excellent, but by far the best sushi in Cypress. My husband and I have tried several sushi spots in Cypress and none of them compare to Edojin. My only complaint is that I wish their space was bigger. There is usually a wait (good for them) and sometimes the rolls can take some time to come out. Nonetheless the food is excellent and the service is excellent as well. They also have a great happy hour and this place is BYOB too! read more

Edojin is our go to sushi restaurant in the cypress area!! We have ordered it to go and eat in and each time it has been amazing!! Anytime we bring friends in, they always say the same! It's BYOB which also great, small corking fee. A few rolls we love: Red Baron roll, red dragon roll, Texans roll and rocking mountain roll. Honestly cannot go wrong with any of them! Crab puffs are super tasty! We love the fried rice here as well! Cannot go wrong with whatever you order. Pricing also cannot be beat for how great the food and service is here!! read more

We decided to go to Edojin on Saturday evening for a friend's birthday. There were not many people there, which is strange for this place. We had a waitress that was clearly in a hurry for us to order. We ordered. I ordered some things that I have had a few times. However, this time, it was a very losely rolled roll. It was so huge it was difficult to eat. It would fall apart with each piece. But then came the bug. Out from the inside of the roll! I would have told the waitress. However, she was very absent. Overall it was not a good visit. Very disappointing considering I know what the service here is normally like. I don't know if I will return. Which is sad in this day and age. read more

I was so excited to try this place so decided to try it for a date night.. only to be disappointed. Even got there on time for Happy Hour.. Just to see other people that got there not only the same time as me but after me get their food before us walking out the door because our food never even got to us. I'm really picky about my sushi and this place is a 10/10. A lot of different sushi options to choose from and absolutely love that they are BYOB. This makes it even more fun! The service is always really good. The place can be packed during lunch and dinner rush hour but that's a good thing it tells you their food is dang good and people are loving it. Love this place. It's been a staple of mine for years now. I highly recommend. read more

First time here for lunch - very good & Great service . I definitely want to come back and try all their rolls , they have a amazing selection but - I was hungry so i went with the lunch bento box (12$) beef teriyaki and I'm leaving stuffed and satisfied . -Only thing i didn't care for was the soup ( not sure what kind it was , smelled seafood like, which is never my go too anyway) -loved the ginger miso dressing for the salad ! - friendly staff - will be back !! read more

This is a unique sushi place. It appears to be run by some very young servers. But since I am old, everyone looks young. They are very friendly and attentive. The BYOB arrangement still feels awkward to me, but it seems to work for people, and it saves a lot of money. The food is very high-quality, but sometimes the small venue results in a wait. Take a jacket, because the air is always turned down very low. read more

I decided to try this place out after seeing so many people recommending it. I intentionally went during happy hour so I could get a "good deal" but ended up spending a lot more than expected and being disappointed at the same time. The service was great, so disregard this rating if you're going for quality service. The food is the reason the rating only gets a 3-star. (I've edited it to bump it up to 4 stars since I had second thoughts on giving it such a low rating since my expectations were probably too high to start with). The value for what I ordered wasn't there. I ordered one item from the HH menu--good deal for $8 roll (spicy girl). It was a bit too spicy for my taste, but I did eat it all and didn't die (this roll got a 4.5/5 rating). I ordered the vegetable and shrimp tempura and I guess there was some communication lost in translation--I got two orders of tempura one shrimp, one shrimp&vegetable--not sure how that happened but I paid for it and wasn't going to make a big deal out of it. This was just "regular " tempura fried items; nothing special 4/5. But I have to drop it by 1/2 point since I didn't get any ponzu(?) sauce for dipping--it was pretty "dry" in a sense. So 3.5/5. The last thing that I ordered and was the disappointment was the $14 edo tower. Such a huge disappointment (based on my expectation from the description). I was expecting something "towering" with sashimi cut/style fish topped on a fancy bed of rice, mangos, kana, etc. what I got was a bed of rice, topped with kana on top, then a "mix" of various cut (mystery) raw fish and mango in a mayo mix and topped w a small dollup of masago. Again, disappointed in this $16 appetizers that it rated a 2/5. I would actually NOT recommend it from the menu to anyone asking for my recommendation. My ratings may seem all over the place, but I am being honest. However, I adjusted based on the sheer reasoning that my expectations of this place were already at a high bar based on the feedback I got from random people on FB. read more

Sushi is so-so, they don't serve any alcohol (Saki, Japanese Beer, or anything), sever hovers too much, and even sitting at the bar, you have to give your server you order and the chef right in front of you makes the sushi. It's the weirdest sushi place I've ever eaten at. Just plain weird. read more

Sushi is my favorite and I LOVED Edojin. I tried the place across the street and maybe it's because it just opened, but the service was horrible. Edojin's atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming. The first time I've actually eaten in the restaurant. I usually order order to go, but a few Friday s ago I wanted to relax and eat in peace instead of my desk. The place was nice. Very casual. I sat at the sushi bar. My server was Conner, he was very attentive. Rob and Panda were behind the bar. All were very personable. I really enjoyed the hour that was there. They had myself and the few other people sitting at the bar, rolling from their jokes. Since then I've been back a few more times, for to go and dine in. I took my girls also. Edojin has exceptionally fresh fish. Many of their rolls are very Texan though - fried, cream cheese, spicy tuna. It's always flavorful and fresh but I wish there were a few more cleaner or traditional options. But again, very fresh so totally worth a trip. read more

Best sushi I have had in a long time! It's very fresh, and you don't even feel bloated afterwards. Chef was very amicable, and our waiter Connor balanced checking in on us with giving us time to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. There were other people dining, however the environment was so calming and low in noise that you wouldn't even have noticed. We did not mind the time the chef spent making the food as it came out always fresh and gave us time to appreciate the food and ambiance we were in. 10/10. We will definitely come again! Can't get better sushi in Cypress!! Lou is the best. Can't get fresh Nigiri anywhere in the area, except here!! I don't know how they make their miso dressing but I swear it's the best ever! Our weekly eat in is always an amazing experience. Five star sushi and five star service!! read more

Used to be our absolute favorite sushi place to go to, but unfortunately no more. Happy hour prices were originally available to curb side and delivery, but they opened their dining room and made the decision to offer happy hour prices to dine-in customers ONLY now in the middle of a pandemic! We called in our to-go order and were surprised by the price. When I asked the person on the phone why the price was so high, we learned they were no longer offering happy hour prices on pickup. We decided to go ahead and keep the order anyway, and I thought I would talk to the manager about it. I (very nicely!) explained that for customers that take care of aging/sick parents whom are in a very high risk category, unfortunately eating inside of a restaurant is still not safe for us. We loved their food and really would like to continue supporting them, but feel like we are being hung out to dry because we aren't willing to risk getting sick or bringing the virus back to our family in order to get the happy hour discount. Her recommendation to me was that only one of us eat in, and bring the food back to the other. She needs to "look out" for the restaurants profits. I was a bit shocked to say the least. Unfortunately our sushi money is now going to HEB and Sams Club instead. Not nearly as good, but at least we can pick it up safely without having to take our masks off, and I'm not feeling like I'm getting screwed on the price by refusing to take a risk with my, and my family's, health. Oh and to top it off, I got charged a pickup fee! read more

Man... this place is good. My family LOVES good sushi and rolls and this place delivers. It's also well priced which makes it a jewel of a place for eating out. The staff is very friendly and attentive and there are TVs for the locally aired games and such. I have yet to find a roll I haven't liked. read more

There was a good amount of beef, and the crispy--possibly garlic or onions on top was a great addition. The amount of food on the plate was just right. I couldn't give it a full 5 stars because the service was only good when the server was actually there. I think there were 2, maybe 3 servers, with the restaurant about 70% full. We took some extra time to order, but it also took a while for someone to come back and take our order. It took a while to get a refill, and there were noticeable delays whenever we needed a server.

Our server's demeanor came across as rude at times, although it's possible she may have been new. For example, when she asked if we were ready to order, we began listing our items, but she abruptly told us to hold on because she wasn't ready. Later, when I finished my tea, she informed me that refills would cost extra, which I didn't mind paying for, but the way it was communicated felt unnecessarily harsh. To add to that, when I tried to pay with Apple Pay, her card reader wasn't working properly, and instead of resolving it at the table, she asked me to get up and pay at the front register. Overall, the food was excellent, but the service and communication could use improvement. A more welcoming and patient approach would make a big difference in the overall experience.

Sushi was cut in smaller than normal sizes and the rolls were not as tightly done as they could have been so they fell apart very easily. We were with a large party and had a variety of rolls including Barker roll, Hawaiian roll, Shaggy Dog, Naruto roll, Hamachi roll, caterpillar roll and King Kong roll. We also had several appetizers like gyoza and a really terrific cream cheese puffs which were both amazing. Overall, the experience was just average. Nothing great beyond the appetizers. Nothing wrong with them, just not enough to bring us back. We will continue to search for our favorite sushi in Cypress. read more

Absolutely love this place. We have come in several time to sit at the bar and take advantage of the byob. The sushi is super fresh and tastes amazing. The staff is very friendly and the owner is always walking around ensuring everyone is enjoying their selves. My last visit was on New Years Eve 5 minutes before they closed to get take out. I felt bad ordering when I new everyone wanted to leave but they made me feel very welcomed and not at all like a burden. Definitely my go to sushi place.
