My son and I had brunch here on a road trip. Cute little classic cafe. So many cows! I had biscuit and gravy with a scramble, which was just right, my son had a turkey bacon sandwich which he enjoyed.

I ate here twice while visiting the Avenue of the Giants. Breakfast restaurants are few. I had the choice of here, or the chain restaurant next door...I chose the local's spot. Glad I did. It's super cute, love the cows everywhere. It's not very big, so no large parties unless you don't mind being at separate tables. I sat at the counter both times since I was by myself. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is good and the prices reasonable.

The coffee and food are great here. A nice, small town diner where people know each other and feel at home. Love all the cow decor, everyone working here is so nice.

Def a real dinner feel. It's not huge so it can fill up fast. The service is friendly from entry to exit.everything was as expected . The pancakes were good the eggs good coffee. They have chicken sausages here. Yeahhhhhh.

    Cute place!

We stopped for lunch on our road trip. We prefer small independent restaurants over chains and this place was perfect. I had the chili which was delicious, meaty with beans and a slight kick to it. My husband had a tuna sandwich with the special soup of the day, turkey rice. He loved the soup! We sat at the counter and chatted with the owner's daughter-in-law who was our server. She was so friendly and gave us a quick history of the restaurant after I told her I loved all the cows. Definitely worth a stop!

4-item veggie omelettes with crispy hash browns and perfect sourdough toast

I'm so happy we drifted into the Eel River Cafe by happenstance. Our original plans fell thru (hey businesses - make sure your posted Yelp hours are accurate), but no worries because this warm little cafe was there for us in a pinch. Our waitperson was super friendly and assured us we made good choices with our veggie omelettes. She was right! The hash browns and sourdough toast were delicious too. It's a pretty good value too, $13.25 for omelette and two sides. We're from the SF Bay Area, where many places charge $17-$20+ for a meal this hearty. We'll absolutely return to this adorable spot the next time we pass through Garberville.

Privately owned unique café, good service, and good food. The ambience is unique. Menu is simple. Breakfast and lunch only. No dinner.

Met my friend for lunch who lives in Garberville. Check the specials, amazing food! A must stop!

It was all very nice. Our server was really good until it was time to pay. I think either his shift ended or he was on a break. No problem though. Another server immediately assisted us once we asked. The food was all really good. During the trip I had a bagel with salmon twice. The one at GoodLife was substantially better than the other one. I never realized the same breakfast dish could be so different in quality. Everyone in our party enjoyed our breakfast and we actually tried to rework our schedule to have lunch there. Unfortunately, we weren't able to make that happen. If we ever get back to the area we will absolutely stop here.

Maybe we didn't order correctly -- we also didn't get any of the fresh bakery items, which looked really good. We had café items instead: one was a turkey sandwich, and the other was a breakfast sandwich. The breakfast sandwich seemed like an omelet inside two pieces of sourdough bread, and there wasn't much more to it -- I would have liked a bit more texture and flavor. The avocado in the turkey sandwich was too hard and hadn't been cut before being put into the sandwich. The lettuce didn't feel super fresh, and the turkey didn't stand out either. Great staff and such a lively place, though -- I think we may have just chosen incorrectly.
