As a pretty popular breakfast spot on the west side of Wichita, this place is usually pretty busy. Last time I was there, it was no different. The place was packed and there were only two waitresses for the entire restaurant. Not sure if they were just short handed that day or what, but it took a while for the orders to be taken and for the food to come out. I ordered the chicken and waffles and was pretty disappointed that it only came with one single piece of chicken and one waffle for $7.99 The food wasn't bad but I'll definitely be going elsewhere next time for breakfast. read more

I hadn't ever heard of this place, but a friend recommended it when we were deciding on a place to meet. We walked in and the appearance was very clean and homey, loved the decor for sure! The wait staff and (what appeared to be) the manager, were very friendly and helpful! We ordered the daily special, which was Crepes & Hashbrowns. Both were very delicious, though the cream cheese was a little chunky and the hashbrowns needed more salt. Overall a very good breakfast for a VERY reasonable price! read more

I wish my family would have tried the food here but we couldn't even get seated not because of how busy they were, but because the older hostess was trying to control the wait list and it looked as though they didn't have their shit together. After waiting there for over 30 mins I went to the younger hostesses to find out why we hadn't been called since people who had gotten there after us were getting seated. Come to find out our name was crossed off the list even though it was never called. The younger hostess did try to seat us right away. It sets a bad precedents if they can't even follow their own list so we decided to leave. Egg Crate needs to find a better way to keep track of seating people and maybe the older hostess can let the girls do their job without interfering. read more

The last time I was at Egg Crate with my long time best friend visiting from Denver, my breakfast was horrIble. My friend didn't really comment on her breakfast, but I noticed she didn't eat it all. I ordered biscuits and gravy. The gravy was lukewarm and so thick it stuck everywhere. You could use it for wallpaper paste. The biscuits were hard as rocks and I had to use my knife to cut them. Hubby and I went there Sunday morning hoping to have brunch. However, nobody brought us water or took our order after we were seated for well over ten minutes. My worst dining experience in Wichita. I want my time and money back! I would've rather stayed at home with a cold bowl of cereal. The food was slightly above average, if that. The service was terrible. Yes, it was busy, but not that busy. I was over charged for my meal. And during my meal, servers kept walking by to see if tables were about finished (glaring at your table while you ate) so they could seat new patrons. If this is Fast Food, then that's what you should call it. Very unpleasant! Overcharged, herded out the door! By the way, I was waiting on YOU to bring my to go box, so, I could leave with the other half of my average food for which I overpaid. How was it, and how much would I like to tip? I can't understand how most of the reviews say this is the best breakfast in town...Makes me question what they think is bad. I should've made my breakfast at home...My eggs were undercooked, similar to chewing and swallowing snot. My bacon was the only thing on the plate that had flavor. I had to use TONS of salt to make the food somewhat tasty. Small portions, I left hungry. The restroom was filthy and there was no toilet paper. The hostess was a very young teenage girl with a bad attitude. The waitresses gave great service to the obvious regular customers but basically ignored my and my table. I would never go back and would recommend this place to no one. Save your $25 and make yourself a great breakfast in the comfort of you own home. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would! The dining room was filthy; food on the wall next to the table, sticky table, etc. The food that I ordered came out quickly enough, however it was completely UN edible! It was so greasy and looked like someone had already tried eating it and failed miserably! I was unable to get the attention of my server (or anyone else for that matter). We left without taking a second bite. However, we still paid for the $30 worth of UN eaten slop/food??? I will be notifying the health department. Lovely food but I always get a reaction to gluten, even though I don't order anything that has gluten (wheat). Must be the grill oil or a dirty grill. It is possible that they add wheat to their egg mic. read more

There's nothing bad about this place, it's just average. The food was okay, but nothing special. The service was just okay. It took a little awhile for us to get our food and for my coffee cup to get refilled. On the positive side, we got seated right away and got drinks pretty quickly too. Egg Crate is the best option for breakfast in NW Wichita. I agree with previous reviewers, they give you good stick to your ribs food and lots of it. I recently had their breakfast sandwich which was a reasonable price ($5.95) and I was really impressed. The sandwich was massive and tasty and it came with a serving of fried potatoes w/onion smothered in white gravy. They improved the layout recently and moved the check out register away from the entrance which lead to a less cramped feeling upon entry. read more

Inside had a confusing decor; art on walls, tacky concrete floor(as in it looks like carpet got ripped up and that's it), chicken statues and plain Jane wooden tables. Service was slow despite it not being busy. The coffee was decent. The biscuits and gravy tasted like a bland mix of sugar, milk and flour. Gravy is not supposed to be sweet. Good breakfast place...if you have plenty of time. I bring my family of five here on Saturdays sometimes but we will wait for at least 30 minutes, and there is virtually no waiting area...you often have to wait outside. Besides that, the food is always good and the staff and management is always friendly. This is clearly a family run business...I think the cashier is the owner's mother! Went for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. Had the Chicken Fried Steak, nicely breaded, tender with great flavor. The white gravy was very good too. The french fries were a frozen coated type, but were still excellent. Everything was very hot including the Texas Toast. The waitress, Teresa, was GREAT and explained all of the meals nicely. I went around town looking for the perfect pancake taste as a kid from the south. We went here today and will not be back!! We used to go here almost every Sunday after church but food and service went downhill we thought we'd try it again and yea it's still not good!! First of all it was freezing in there and they sat us under a vent so she had us move to another table close by but not under a vent still freezing, it was 56 outside when we left and it felt better outside than in the restaurant. Temperature should be comfortable for your guests that are paying not the cook!! My eggs were brown but creamy (?) pancake was crunchy on the bottom I had to cut it with a knife only gave us a tiny cup of syrup the bacon was limp and very small. She said she would fix the temperature but never did we just quickly ate and left bc it was to cold to send it back and wait longer. Jimmies egg is much better service and food is always great!!
