I was looking around and realized they were pouring it from a carton. (You can see in the back from some of the tables). I had the opportunity to go to brunch here with my family on a trip and when I say this is the best brunch I've had in recent memory, I'm not exaggerating. The inside looks like an upscale yet cozy bed-and-breakfast and the plates/utensils are adorable. I got the Habanero Hash and Eggs and it was simply perfect with a little bit of added Cholula. The blend of flavors was very rich and it was the perfect amount of food. I took advantage of their loose-leaf tea that they let you brew at your own table and it was simply perfect. Beyond the food, the service was stellar. The wait staff was very attentive and was incredibly nice (even after my mother managed to make a huge mess). I can only speak for the Lake Forest location, but I'll be sure to stop by one of their locations whenever I'm in the area again. read more

Egg Harbor is one of those local institutions that if anyone ever tried to change it or (gasp) close it, the town would go into a full riot. I'm talking bonfires in the street kinds of riots. I know there are multiple Egg Harbors around, but it feels specific for Lake Forest and is easily our go to place for breakfast. They have the usual skillets everyone loves, fancy schmancy French toast with creme fresh and berry compote as well as healthy items. It's hard not to find an item you'll want. They also do lunch. This location is a cute and comfy spot for breakfast. I always have friendly and attentive service when I come in. They have a large selection of breakfast and lunch items and there's always something I want to try on their seasonal menus. This time I tried the Bacon Bibimbap. My egg looked stunning. Definitely a different take on bibimbap, but ended up being flavorful. I usually have the hot chocolate but I ordered the strawberry orange juice and was not disappointed. My friends enjoyed their Strawberry Crunch French Toast and Cassie's Crepes (although the poppyseed dressing just wasn't for his taste). Love the staff. The food is good But omg the interior. I have been trying to get my head for a while now about who on earth designed or paid for the design or approved of the new interior. It's' just awful. I can imagine when new leadership team came together they decided the restaurants was just too old fashioned and it needed modernising. Unfortunately they missed the mark altogether. This used to be a regular breakfast place for me, but it's become an insipid space with zero charm. It's a weird gray color that doesn't work with the lighting whatsoever. Even my 18 yr old hates it. Did the designer ever visit after first install and think the translation from design to install worked? I'd love to email corporate instead of on here but their website is so bad - they've changed that too and not only are there no contact details for head office, they've forgotten to put opening hours on for the restaurants. And the list of restaurants isn't even in alphabetical order. Whoever looks after your website needs speaking to. The change in leadership is noticeable and it feels amateur. Shame. read more

Lake Forest has an amazing staff! We love the people and the food. For that, we would give them 5 stars. For the water, they would get 0! The water smells and tastes like chlorine. They need to filter it as that's what they use in their tea, coffee, and drinking water. Too much chlorine is not good for the health of the customers and staff. The food is your traditional breakfast fare - everything from pancakes, eggs and omelettes, as well as sandwiches and other savoury goodness. The cafe itself offers plenty of table variety - booths, chairs in sets of 2 or 4 or more. It's a cozy but large enough space to cater to all of the Egg Harbor fans as this seems to become a local favorite quickly! read more

This is my go-to place to order breakfast for takeout before work. Food is always on time, it's made just as I ask and staff are great. I would like to give it 5 stars, however I believe food can improve. I have been trying different things from their menu and today was a bit disappointing. The carnitas skillet was dry and were just some pieces of meat with tons of potatoes on it, and for $13.50 I would expect something better. Otherwise, the chilaquiles, Belgian waffle and cinnamon roll are delicious. Overall, it's a good place to have breakfast with some room for improvement. read more

I also really like their lunch options, their poppyseed dressing is a personal favorite of mine. They sell it in 8 oz and 16 oz containers. The last time I went I had the chicken and rice soup and the shrimp and grits. The soup was hearty, comforting and exactly what I needed on a cold Chicago winter day. The shrimp and grits, even though a touch under-seasoned, was still delicious. For a restaurant not in the south, I loved these shrimp and grits, and I loved that it wasn't too salty and greasy or way too big of a portion. Perfect size and just the right amount of ingredients to make a simple dish very satisfying. My husband got the Cuban sandwich which he said was great, and he said he wish he could put their salad dressing on everything (as do I). My family has gone here for years. The change in the menu is great, and I love that they have seasonal dishes now too. I love that they give you a small pot of coffee and drinks to go when you're leaving. Fantastic service and a great local eatery for breakfast/brunch. To begin, I just have to say the decor and the overall vibe of this restaurant is FANTASTIC. Very homey, but with a sophisticated touch. The condiments are very well thought out; they have a pepper cracker, as well as sea salt and an array of seasoning/sauces. I really appreciated this, as it made me feel like I was in the luxury of my own home/kitchen rather than being left with your basic salt/pepper. Parking is easy, as there is a lot in the front. The room is spacious and doesn't feel clustered at all. For beverages, I recommend getting the Strawberry Orange Juice. One of their more signature drinks. the orange juice is freshly squeezed! So you KNOW its going to be good. The strawberry orange juice however, also involves a subtle strawberry flavoring that really bring the drink together. Its unique and tasty. I had ordered the Smoke Salmon Benedict. The portion size was just enough to leave me at a satisfied full. The hollandaise sauce was good and the added fixtures such as the red onion and capers really added to the overall flavor. The english muffin was also toasted well so that it wasn't soggy by the time it made it into my mouth. The potatoes included were also the right amount of crisp. An established neighborhood staple, Egg Harbor is one of my favorite places for casual breakfast. The warm service and decor makes you feel like you are visiting grandma's house. The food choices are plentiful and range from classics (Benedict) to decadent (Lobster Scramble) to trendy (Acai Bowl). Especially nice surprise are gluten-free pancakes, not only that they are on the menu, but how delicious they are! I ordered them with extra fruit (it came baked in), Nutella and whipped cream. Basically a dessert for breakfast, because I can, because I am adult and nobody tells me what to do. There is one drawback that sometimes makes me hesitate to come here - they do not take reservations and are very popular...dreadful combination. This morning though, I picked my way through the crowd to ask the hostess how long the wait is, bracing myself..aaand the answer almost made me yelp (no pun intended) with joy. 10 minutes!? Awesome.
