Well, the staff at Egg Mann and Earl were wonderfully welcoming and totally into their roles as not just wait staff, but guides of the Egg Mann breakfast experience. Our waitress provided clear answers when we asked questions (like "Is the four-egg omelette pretty big?" received an "Oh, yes!" as a reply). That was also refreshing, because it helped us order appropriately. Another fun surprise was when she brought out the Egg Mann version of a scone--it is, apparently, kind of a complimentary breakfast bread. And it was amazing! It tasted like a high-quality funnel-cake bread, and I could have eaten two on my own because of how delicious it was. And, yes, the omelette are large. This place is one of the best brunch spots in the Treasure Valley- and not just because of the food. The staff is amazing. Our waitress was easily one of the top ten to ever help us out of any of the thousands of places we've been. Food- upgraded tasty breakfast and I love the cheesy hash browns. From Boise originally but just moved back, and I am excited to explore food culture here. I love a good brunch but hadn't found a good one yet. Walking in, the ambiance was creative, colorful and spacious. The staff were all friendly, chipper and welcoming. The free scone was a pleasant surprise! The menu had an array of delicious options and included lots of vegetarian options for my mother. I had a sausage Benedict and my mom had the veggie option and they were both delicious. I can totally see why this is a top rated pick. Normally I stay away from diners in strip malls. It's a totally ridiculous aversion as I like the comfort and feel of a place that's been around for 50 years. However, I'm glad I went against that in this case. From the moment I entered the vibe was great. It's obvious the owners and staff care about your experience and this restaurant. I was greeted and sat by Amber, who was also my server. She introduced herself, made some "get to know you" conversation and then got my drink order. She confirmed one of the specials before mentioning it and said that all of their food is locally sourced, and some of it is made in house (like the smoked meats and sausage). She then brought out what she called a 'scone' but had an elephant ear texture and taste. It was so good but almost ruined my appetite for my meal, lol. Almost! While all of the options sounded amazing, I went with the omelette. There were 3 potatoe choices, I went with the grilled potatoes. They did not disappoint, none of it did. I was lucky to get there when they opened, so there was no line, but I can imagine a wait is normal. Don't come if you're in a hurry. The experience is low pressure, comfortable and full of genuine hospitality. Like you were visiting friends for brunch. I'm glad I went, this place is amazing. Love this place. Came here for a birthday breakfast and it was amazing. Was on a Sunday morning when our party of 8 (only seats up to 8 people!) arrived around 10. The owner is so genuine and personal and took our name down for a wait. There's coffee and seating in the waiting area however we headed across the parking lot to grab some Starbucks which was very convenient. About a hourish wait. We were texted when our table was ready and headed on over! Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. They make everything in house so she told us it may take awhile to get food. However they give out the complimentary scone and even a birthday one too with a little chant and candle. I ordered the Breakfast Quesadilla which was HUGE! Lots of leftovers. Tried a bite of the sourdough pancakes, not for me- a unique taste but to each their own! So fun to just look around at all the quirky decor. The bathroom was clean and full of silly decorations as well. It was a great experience. Came back 2 weeks later for breakfast but was in a rush and wait was about a hour. Not sure what happened as it wasn't that busy, but it took forever to get our food, and we had to ask about our scone which took a while to get. We noticed people seated after us were served, ate, and left before we got food. Honestly, I think our server forgot to put our order in. To say they had me at the Sloth head would be an injustice, because they also had me at the grumpy banana. Welllllll, came on Yelp to find a well rated breakfast spot and .... We found it so we went to it. The place is super easy to find. The service is incredible. They treat you like the queen you are hahahah. The business is great and the ambiance is friendly. So much to look at. The portions are shareable and I felt so wasteful leaving so much food behind and I couldn't take it with me!!! I will be back and get my fix a day before the flight. So I don't have to toss food!!! This has become our go to breakfast location. It's so quaint, and cute inside. The girls that work there or own it are amazing. They are so friendly and cheerful. Everything is made on premise from homemade sausage, waffles, biscuits, scones (ok I'm Irish and know these aren't scones but just enjoy what they are calling scones-tjese beignets will surprise you) I'm GF so half their menu doesn't apply to me but sure makes my hubby happy. They make the best hash browns. Try their hangover hashbrowns-so good. I usually just get bacon and eggs. But the hubby has been working his way thru their French toast lately. The rating reflects: 1. the long wait (over an hour) 2. the disgusting decor (they could either water the ficus or at least clean up the dead leaves that are all over the floor) 3. Stop bragging about how much we are going to love their food and service (the food was average, the prices were high, but I will give the waitress credit for having a very pleasant demeaner. 4. The hostess is obnoxious, and insisted on having all the names of everyone in my party. I understood later, they write all the names on a little chalkboard that is put on your table. Ok, I get it, personalizing the experience. But it felt invasive and annoying, as she insisted on even knowing how everyone's name was spelled. We had the chicken fried steak (a special that day) It was huge, but I prefer a steak that you can bite into. This one was flattened out so much you could hardly tell there was any meat inside the breading. It was nicely cooked, however, golden brown. I was promised hot crispy hash browns. They were crispy, but certainly not hot. I will give credit that the oil they are using has no unpleasant taste, not stale like a lot of places. When we arrived, a worker was smoking outside the kitchen entrance, when we left an hour and 1/2 later, the same worker (plus another worker) was out there smoking again. Best service of any breakfast restaurant I've ever experienced. We were greeted by the owner who told us she'd text us once our table was ready. When we arrived at our table it was all set up with water and a welcome placard. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the sourdough pancakes and was given a sample pancake to be sure I would enjoy my order. Soon after ordering, a free and delicious scone was placed in front of us to hold us over until our food arrived. Real maple syrup was available upon request and the in-house cured bacon was delicious, making for a great breakfast for my wife and I. Was our first time at Egg Man's after my daughter was waiting at the SeaTac airport, and a man waiting for his flight suggested it. It's a very fun spot. We went on a Sunday morning and the wait was about 20-30 min. I hear that IRS typical people wait much longer. I love how they have a pot of coffee for you to enjoy while you're waiting. The service was very great. My daughter ordered a Hangover Hash with veggie add-ins, and got one with meat, but they were very apologetic, and made the correction right away. We were welcomed and given coffee while we waited for a table. The hostess took down the names of all in the party. When we were seated there was a welcome sign on our table with our names. They then brought out a fantastic buttery Idaho scone (complimentary). The server Amber called us by name the whole time. They have in house smoked salmon and smoked meats which are amazing. This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Boise. We've been coming here since they opened and there's nothing else like it. Wednesday's are a favorite bc of waffle Wednesday and the $2 deliciously fluffy and flavorful waffles! Right now, time from ordering to eating is a little longer than usual, but that's to be expected when they're short on staff (PS - I know they're looking to hire for pretty much everything - wait staff, chef, etc). BUT the staff is always super kind, incredibly attentive and awesome in general. The Netflix and chill burrito is my husbands favorite and my kids think the unicorn French toast is like the coolest and most yummy breakfast they've ever had. It's a social distancing thing. As to my food...Yummy!!! I had the Hangover Hashbrowns with plain black coffee and water of course; I live in Idaho...grin. They are amazing and quite the platefull. I'm not sure if they will cure a hangover, but they just might...LOL. They have social distancing done right. Each booth which needs to be vacant for social distancing reasons has people pictures with the funniest getups. And don't forget to checkout the woman's bathroom. For women it's decorated interestingly. Never been in the men's...might be quite the opposite. I definitely recommend Eggmann and Earl if you want a great breakfast. The scone at the start is free and quite tasty, but sugary so I usually refrain. But I have partaken. Their menu is quite extensive and I've had the salmon in the past. This restaurant has a standard coffee shop ambiance: farmhouse meets urban kitsch. The place has a good breakfast, though the wait is pretty oppressive, and they won't even put you on the waitlist if you are phoning in to get there. This would be considered an average brunch place in a city that is big on brunch places (e.g., Portland). Since Boise isn't one of those places, this place is a novelty. I have a feeling this restaurant hasn't quite settled into what will work yet, so I suggest that they focus on turns and what matters to customers that shows up on the bottom line. Otherwise, I predict the wait alone is going to lead people to abandon attempting to eat here. read more

My wife and I went there on a recommendation yesterday for breakfast. Definitely a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The menu looked amazing and the waitress was so friendly and attentive. We were actually having a pretty good time. I had asked the waitress if they had a Cup of fruit and she said yes. The food was a little greasier than we liked maybe because it had so much butter on it. My wife got an egg sandwich and I got a veggie omelette. Everything there is à la cart so we did expect the bill to be a little higher. Well, that being said we were absolutely shocked to find out that bowl of fruit was $14 and with tip our total for a bowl of fruit and egg sandwich and a veggie omelette was $73! And that wasn't even the worst of it, about an hour later we were both extremely nauseous. The remainder of our day was spent taking anti-nausea medication and bouts of extreme discomfort. We have no idea what breakfast item it originated from but we had both had a bite or two of each other's meal and shared the fruit bowl. The experience at the restaurant itself was fine, but we could never take a chance like that in going back.
