The place looks a bit dirty and neglected, as if the appearance of the place doesn't matter to them, so I definitely don't recommend eating there only for takeout. At first, I was a bit hesitant to try the food, but well, you shouldn't judge just by the outside. The staff member was very kind, answered some questions we had about the menu, gave us recommendations, and was very patient while we decided on our dishes. The food was okay nothing different from other Chinese restaurants. It didn't taste bad, but honestly, I'm not sure I'd go back.

Service was good, food good had good flavor a good portion for the price was phenomenal. We order two dishes, a wonton soup very delicious, and an order of pork egg rolls everything was under $40 as regards ambience is okay we order to go so it's a simple

Combo: Chow Mein, Lemon Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pork

For a fast food Chinese take-out place, it actually exceeded my expectations. The protein portion of the combos that we got were actually pretty good. Good breading and the sauces were flavorful. I just wished the chow mein and fried rice were better. It lacked any kind of flavor so soy sauce was definitely needed. I mean, you can't beat the price either. $8.95 for a combo plate? $4.50 for the house special? Worth it. If you're not looking for anything fancy, this is a good budget meal.

My husband and I were going to go out to a place that is the closet to our home on NYE, the storms were so bad we barely got out of our driveway. When we arrived it was closed but we saw this place next door and it was open. We ordered the Lemon Chicken, Broccoli and Chicken and 3 Egg rolls. 3 come in a order with that yummy red sauce. I judge a Chinese place by the Lemon or Orange Chicken because that's my go-to order. I liked that one order of egg rolls included 3 of them. The food was pretty good and we ate all of it. The portion sizes were very generous and the prices were also very good. The place itself is very modest and small. I wouldn't personally stay here to eat. Many people were coming in a picking up "to-go" orders so I bet that is a large percentage of their business. The workers were very friendly and accommodating. I definitely will be ordering from them again, this is a happy accident since the place we we're going to was closed. To be fair the weather was miserable that night. Happy 2023 Yelpers!

Service was great! Guy answered all my questions and even helped me out with something I didn't know. They had spicy chili oil and regular! Ordered the crab ragoons: they were cooked and nice and crispy, just can't figure out why they tasted a little doughy? Got the Egg Plant Szechuan: if you know anything about eggplant, you'll know it retains heat as well as broccoli. Those two plus more veggies were in there. Loved the flavor of the dish. Asked for fried rice but for some reason they gave me half rice half chow mein which I had already ordered on another box. Ordered General Chicken and Beef Broccoli per his recommendation as to which items were popular. Both had great taste. Wish I would have tried the general children before I drove 20 minutes back to work so I could have tested out the crunchiness beforehand. No fair assessment can be given. Here is where I asked for Chow mein which has chicken w/no veggies sadly. I liked it. I log chili oil and it was good!

Combo lunch with Kung Pao Chicken, Sesame Chicken, fried rice and chow mein.

I bought a combo dinner here and what can i say. Its cheap, hot, greasy and salty! The kung pao chicken sauce was actually decent. Spicy, fresh ingrediants. The sesame chicken tasted like it was microwaved, so it was meh. The chow mein and fried rice were average, nothing special there. I also ordered some fried shrimp that tasted like they came out of a box, frozen and were cooked an hour previous. A little chewy, but not terrible. You wont get better for the price, but the price is already pretty low.

The eggroll king franchise is a staple of quick and cheap take out in Reno. As a foodie, I don't think I can give this place more than three stars for food or atmosphere but I wanted to write a review to offer a few highlights. I personally don't really go for the stirfry dishes but every time my daughter is sick, like today, she wants their egg drop soup and I want their hot and sour soup. Both are tasty and exactly what you would expect. The other highlight that I wanted to point out is that this location is right next to Reno High school. These folks are sweet enough to offer a five dollar lunch menu for students during the school week. That is a fantastic deal for kids, especially if the kids don't have much in the way of lunch money. Nice work eggroll king.

Get the fried rice entree. The fried rice that comes with your dish is gross but the fried rice dish itself is delicious and fresh.

The Wok is one of those places, and Sichuan/Chongqing food is one of those things that I'm jealous of people who get to experience it for the first time. Here's how to have an epic time at The Wok: Step 1. Get 4 to 8 people total that aren't afraid to try something a little different and maybe slightly spicy (seriously though it's not actually that spicy). If you need help with this step message me, I'd share a meal with some random people if it's at The Wok. Step 2. Flip to the back page of the menu, and order a few things that sound good to the group. Don't waste your time with the American Chinese menu (even though what I've had off of that menu is actually really good too). Make sure to get a decent mix of stuff like appetizers, veggies, noodle, soup, and meat dishes. Also don't be afraid to order multiple times. This gives you more time with the menu, and you can judge what sounds good in the moment. Step 3. Share the food family style with everyone until you are all full. I think at this point I've eaten everything on the Sichuan menu, and can say that if it sounds good to you, it is! Some of my favorite dishes are: Wontons in Chili oil, Bone in chicken wings, Spicy boiled fish fillet, Beef noodle soup, Green beans, Salt and Pepper tofu, Dan dan noodles, and Mapo Tofu. Finally, Janet (the manager) is amazing, and always willing to give a recommendation.

The portions were generous with plenty of leftovers to pack up in takeout boxes for enjoying for another day. I am not a big lamb fan, but this New Zealand lamb was tender and non-gamey. The owners did an outstanding job of timing the dishes and engaging with our group while also taking care of other diners including non event patrons getting getting take-out and inhouse menu dining. The space is very small, but even with and almost full house, it didn't feel cramped. It was cooler inside but once service started, it started to get hot and didn't feel much AC. Ordered the duck noodle soup, shrimp and beef clay pot, and tofu with vegetables. Seasoning could've been increased just a bit on everything - lacked salt. Overall, would come here again for another round.

Decor is a bit overdone, but that seems to fit the vibe of anywhere with casinos, so can't blame them for trying to fit in. A bar dominates the view from the entrance, then ample tables of several sizes to the right. We filled the rear corner (two giant tables) and had mostly good food, although the sweet and sour chicken was forgettable. A fried squash (pumpkin?) was delectable, had some very good bean curd/mixed veggies, the Sichuan water fish did the job but was a bit short from the best I've had-- which to be fair is tough because there is so much Sichuan food everywhere these days. A second veggie dish with lotus root was also excellent, and the sweet and sour pork, while not memorable, was distinctly better than the sweet and sour chicken.

We ordered the Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken, Dry Fried Beef Chow Fun, and Gai Lan with Beef. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. With "Hong Kong Diner" in the name, I was expecting authentic Cantonese stir-fries with good wok hei. Unfortunately, the Dry Fried Beef Chow Fun lacked that signature smoky flavor, and the texture was closer to lo fun than traditional chow fun. The Gai Lan with Beef also lacked wok hei. The outer layer of the gai lan stems had been peeled away, so the stems lost the crisp texture that makes gai lan so enjoyable. The Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken was overly tender and quite salty. It seemed to be marinated so heavily that I couldn't really taste the natural flavor of the chicken. Overall, the restaurant offers generous portions, reasonable prices, and friendly service. I just wish the Cantonese dishes had delivered the wok hei I was expecting from a place with "Hong Kong Diner" in its name. :)

We decided to make it our next date night spot. We went on a Friday around 5:30 and it wasn't very crowded yet. They asked if we preferred a table or a booth, and we went with a booth near the front. The restaurant itself is really nice, but I'll say the booth felt a little tight. Next time, we'll probably go with a table for a bit more space. The service was top notch. The staff was incredibly attentive, and our drinks were constantly refilled. Our glasses were never empty, which always stands out. About 15 minutes after we sat down, the place filled up fast. It seemed like most people coming in had reservations, so I'd definitely recommend making one if you're planning to go after 6 pm. We decided on the Shanghai Dinner. I ordered the sweet and sour pork, and my wife got the sweet and sour chicken. I was tempted by the cashew chicken and kung pao chicken, but we'll save those for next time. The appetizers were amazing. The meal comes with spring rolls, crab rangoon, paper wrapped chicken, and honey glazed BBQ spareribs. Everything was delicious. My wife loved the paper wrapped chicken, and for me, the ribs were the standout. They were tender with just the right hint of sweetness. Honestly, I could've eaten a full plate of just those and been happy. For sides, I had the egg flower soup, which was really flavorful, and my wife had the salad. She could not stop talking about how good the dressing was. Both the sweet and sour pork and chicken were great. The sauce had that perfect tangy, slightly sweet flavor. That said, next time we probably won't order the same sauce for both dishes. I think pairing something like sweet and sour with kung pao would give a better balance with a little heat to cut through the sweetness. Overall, this place is a winner. Great food, solid portions, and the price is very reasonable at about $33 per person for the Shanghai Dinner. My wife enjoyed everything so much that after seeing another table order the duck, she's already talking about coming back to try it. I've been trying to get her to try duck for a while, so I'm looking forward to that next visit. We'll definitely be back.
