This was a really cute Wizard of Oz themed restaurant located in the heart of Fort Braggs. My boyfriend and I got here around 10am on a Saturday morning and it wasn't too cooked. Only when it got to 11am did the lines start forming but they have an electronic sensor that notifies you anyways. The restaurant is a bit small so that's another reason why it got packed really fast. Something quite unique about this restaurant is that they serve all their food with this compostable plate. Even though you would think it would look tacky, the plate was very strong and looked like an actual plate. I guess they were trying to conserve water and reduce their water usage due to a water shortage so I thought that was an amazing idea they implemented. Thanks to Yelp and checking in, we got a free small glass of orange juice! I ordered an eggs benedict and my bf ordered their BLT sandwich. I wasn't too happy with the eggs benedict because their hollandaise sauce was more like just straight plain sour cream.. the potatoes were delicious and so was their BLT sandwich (maybe a little too heavy on the butter). First, an extra star for not including the tax in the calculations of suggested tip percentages. Bravo! Nobody should tip on tax. We've stayed two or more nights in Fort Bragg a dozen or so times over the past 6 or 8 years. We'd never given this restaurant a try, however, often intimidated by the long line. Last week, however, we were there midweek and off-season, and decided to finally give it a try. We still had to wait 30 minutes to be seated, but were not disappointed! The food was awesome. We both had egg dishes that were excellent, the potatoes were awesome, and the grain toast hit the spot. My breakfast ham was of high quality as well. It is a little pricey for breakfast, and as noted, you can expect a significant wait to get seated. The food too took longer than most places to come after we ordered. We were not in a hurry though, loved the food, and will make this restaurant a regular stop. P.S. Our sever, "Yisel" (per our receipt), was great! read more

What a fun theme and aesthetic in here, it caught me by surprise! The menu is extensive, and everything sounded great. I ordered the special Wicked Benedict and it was HEAVENLY. I would put that lime hollandaise on anything. My parents shared a belgian waffle and the Lion's Mighty and loved those as well. The service was excellent, prompt, and kind. We stopped by Egghead during our visit to Fort Bragg. First of all the restaurant it self is kind of small, meaning it's hard to see driving by but once you park it is easy to find. We both had fresh squeezed OJ, it was delicious. My wife and I agreed that it seems like there was a hint of tangerine in the juice. We both on the rare occasion order the same thing. The Lion Mighty which is 2 eggs, potatoes and chose of meat and toast. We both had the sausage patties. First the eggs were cooked as ordered to perfection next the potatoes were country style, the seasoning was delicious great flavor. The sausage was very tasty too, not just some random store bought sausage. The service was great too, very friendly and attentive. When my wife went back to the waitress station to compliment the meal the were so happy and asked if she would mind telling the cook, who expectsed it graciously and blushed. I love going out for breakfast. Eggs Benedict is alwasy one of my favorites to order too, so I decided to try it the first time here. We were staying in Fort Bragg for two nights to celebrate New Years Eve and after doing my regular YELP research found this spot. It is charming, tiny restaurant, that feels like going to a friends house for a meal. It is a Wizard of Oz themed place with menu items named after the movie. The first morning there I had the classic eggs benedict with ham and perfectly poached eggs and their "famous" rosemary,red potatoes. My guy had a combination breakfast with eggs, biscuits and gravy. The hollandaise sauce on my eggs and ham was soooo good! It also had a nice lemon punch that I love in a hollandaise sauce. I was expecting canadian bacon, not ham, but...everything was cooked so perfectly that I was still completely satisified. My man ate his whole plate and were were stoked. Before leaving, it was the 31st, our waiter presented us with a red envelope and told us to come back with the time period on the front. Inside it contained a prize that only be redeemed if we came back to the the restaurant and had a server open. The prize would remain a mystery, and they were giving away different things such as, $5 off tab, breakfast for free once a month for a year, a t-shirt, or other items. We decided right then and there to come back the next day as that was when we were leaving. And we did! I ordered the Wizard Omlette special, which had garlic sauteed veggies and bacon inside a fluggy omlette, my man had the the Aunt Em griddle cakes. Again, the food is served hot and fresh. During our recent trip to Fort Bragg we visited Eggheads Restaurant and let me tell you..... SO GOOD! We ended up eating here every day of our stay and trying something new off the menu! Our first time here. It was amazing. The flavors are crazy good. The potato's are great. The 3 egg omelette was packed. I'm not a whole grain bread guy, but the whole grain toast was really good. This is the place to go for wonderful, welcoming staff, great service, and amazing food. The Wizard of Oz theme is obvious as soon as you walk in and it holds true to the local color of Fort Bragg. On the recent trip to the area, I was craving breakfast and Egghead's was one of the first that popped up on my yelp search, and decided to go for it. Along the main drag of Fr. Bragg is Egghead's. It's a quaint place with no waiting area and the Wizard of Oz theme hits you in every nook and cranny. From the posters and art work on the walls, to the dolls and figures on the shelves. What's not to love when you follow the yellow brick road to the tiny bathroom in the back beyond the kitchen?! We stopped in during the weekday (Tuesday) around 11:30am, so we beat both the breakfast and lunch crowd. There was no wait and got seated right away. Friendly staffers asked us for a beverage and within minutes, hot cups of coffee and glasses of water arrived. Lots of variety on the menu, from scrambles and omelettes to salads and burgers. I decided to go with the Crab omelette with avocado and sour cream (on side for me) with fruit (extra charge for substitutes) instead of the potatoes. I have to say that the crab was so flavorful and as fresh as can be. No imitation crab here, and well worth the $21. The fruit was fresh and sweet and neatly arranged, and so worthy of a picture! It also comes with a piece of toast! Yum, who doesn't love carbs?!? He loved his Benedict special with sausage, and he's a tough critic! Service was friendly and efficient. Could tell that the entire staff likes each other and works well together. Our server was very attentive and bubbly! Prices are decent, but can see how folks could say it's a bit pricey. It is one of the only breakfast joints in town, so why not splurge. You're on vacation anyway, so the diet and budge should be semi- off limit. Loved this little quirky Wizard of Oz themed breakfast place. I was debating on whether I wanted the pumpkin waffles or one of the Benedicts. They let us try both the wicked Hollandaise (with tequila & cilantro mmmmmm!) sauce and their version of more regular Hollandaise sauce. Both were far from traditional and both were literally outstanding. I wanted a cup of each to pour over everything I was going to be eating. Dorothy's Wicked Benedict was AMAZINGLY good! Nice little biscuits topped with homemade sausage patties and perfectly poached eggs with that amazing wicked hollandaise sauce plus perfectly prepared breakfast potatoes (which I dipped into every ounce of sauce on the plate). Since my husband and I decided to share our plates I ordered the pumpkin cream waffle, which turned into pumpkin pancakes because their waffle iron was down. It ended up being one of the best pancakes I've ever eaten... Fresh sliced bananas on top and a dollop of amazing homemade whipped cream. Their service and their coffee was great too. Super small hole in the wall, but so famous!!!! Be sure to go early, people sure line up quick. My mother in law told me that the hollandaise sauce was to die for, and she was right!!! We went into the restaurant, were told 25 minute wait and figured sure, no problem. We actually waited for 20 minutes, great! We sat down, I checked in, and then quickly put in our orders. And waited... And waited... And waited... We finally got our food and it only took 35 minutes for one order of eggs Benedict and a side order of biscuits and gravy. That's it. No special requests. Possibly they needed to get the eggs from Uncle Henry and Aunt Em's farm? Now for the positive. The food was delectable! the biscuit was delish and homemade, and the crab was fresh (as to be expected in these parts!). It certainly made me want to break out in song: I hear a beat....how sweet! Just to register emotion Jealousy -- Devotion -- And really feel the part, I could stay young and chipper, And I'd lock it with a zipper, If I only had a heart...! Although that might just have been inspired by the tin man hanging down from the ceiling. The food alone would have their review pushing four stars, it was just everything that surrounded it that brought it down to three. The final nail in the 3 star coffin were the prices. $3.50 for a coffee is a lot. I can get craft coffee from Peet's for under $3, and Cafe Jaavy down the street is only $2 for a cup. Something isn't adding up to me. While we did splurge on the Crab Benedict, the price for it was about $27 and the regular Benedict were going for about $15-20. With average portions I'd list these prices as on the high side for breakfast. read more

The breakfast burrito was the best I've ever had, just the right mix of eggs, bacon, potatoes and a house made salsa. The biscuits were also house made, the gravy was yummy, and the eggs were perfectly cooked. Kind, human service. Just what the world needs. Cons They are so good, there's a line. You have to "follow the yellow brick road" to get to the external bathroom (going through the kitchen). I was fine, but some folks might not be. Absolutely charming. It must have been the unluckiest day as a restaurant customer, according to my experience today at Egghead. I heard good things about it and then all the laudatory reviews by satisfied customers. Arrived at 12:15pm, one hour before going back to work. At brunch I always go for Eggs Benedict, plus avocado. I asked the Waiter if the difference between Benedict ("A toasted English muffin topped with Canadian bacon from Roundman Smokehouse and two poached eggs, smothered in the Wizards Famous Homemade Hollandaise Sauce 15.99") and Benny Flo ("Eggs Benedict* with spinach, Canadian bacon OR avocado, and Homemade Hollandaise sauce 16.99") was the addition of spinach, a double portion of bacon OR avocado. He replied Benny Flo were eggs benedict with spinach or bacon OR avocado. I ordered Benny Flo with avocado. Plate arrived at 12:45, I realize there's only spinach and avo, not bacon. Call the waiter and ask about the bacon. He says that Benny Flo is eggs benedict + one addition, I explain that eggs benedict come with bacon, therefore I expect my avo and bacon. (The prize difference of $1 is standard for adding 1/4 of avocado in this area). He seemed to be agreeable and takes the plate. Tic toc ti toc. At 1pm he brings BeFlo with bacon and avocado and spinach. I hate cooked spinach but I think he's trying to be nice by adding everything, I dont want to be difficult so I stomach it. I ask for the check and SURPRISE: instead of $16.99 he charged $22.75 before taxes and tip. When confronted, he says I had to pay for adding bacon. Manager comes. My point: if menu says "BeFlo" is EgBe plus Sp or Ba or Av, I'm expecting EgBe to come with all the ingredients listed in EgBe... or please change the menu because this one is misleading Customers. He didn't agree but offered to remove extra charge. I appreciate the Manager's dealing with the situation. I did not appreciate the Waiter adding an extra charge without letting me know in advance or when leaving the check. As a customer with plenty of options, if I opt to support your business with my money, I expect to receive a straight and honest service, not a deceiving treatment. Otherwise it feels a lot like living in a communist country once again where customer service is dishonest, malicious, retaliatory, and rude. And that's because in communism (I know it bc that's where I come from) you have no options. But luckily in this country we do. Epilogue: the Hollandaise sauce was definitely "unlike anything I tried before"... if you've never had eggs benedict with homemade mayonaise, this is your place. And in years of having eggs benedict everywhere, I never thought eggs benedict could go wrong, but Egghead got that right. I'm not trying to be mean but I mean what I'm saying. read more

I don't know what I like more about this place: the staff, the food selection, or the decorative theme. This is one of the few experiences I've had where if I couldn't rate 6, 10, or even 100 stars I would! Staff: We haven't had such a friendly and funny server in a really long time. Food: The names of all the foods are super creative. They have an incredible selection of eggs Benedict, and a lot of seasonal foods too. We ordered pumpkin waffles to share and the almond whipped cream really was the icing on the... waffle! I ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of sausage and bacon. The biscuits were freshly baked, thick, and extremely spongy just the way I like it. It was drenched in gravy but you could still tell the difference between the two because the biscuit didn't get soggy, it held its integrity. Decorations: everything was the Wizard of Oz themed. Everything else was pretty average for the price. The garlic omelette definitely had its garlic flavor, the cinnamon raisin French toast was good and super sweet. The real star of the show was the flying potatoes. Highly recommend ordering that.
