My new FAVORITE breakfast & lunch spot -- Café ViVi is an absolute hidden gem!!…read more I actually discovered Café ViVi while visiting the Games Workshop next door, and I'm so glad I did. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel like family. They go out of their way to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that keeps you coming back again and again. The food is unreal. If you're a chili fan, this place is a MUST-visit -- they have FOUR different house-made chili options that increase in spice level, and each one is fantastic. And if you love French toast, do yourself a favor and order the flaked French toast... you will not regret it. Pro tip: try the off-menu chili tater tots at least once. Get the second-hottest chili and load up the toppings -- seriously incredible. The décor has a great local farm-to-table vibe, there's a full bar, and TVs to catch games while you eat. It somehow feels cozy and lively at the same time. Honestly, this might be the best-kept secret in the county -- but it shouldn't stay a secret. More people need Café ViVi in their lives. Go check it out!

The space itself is chic and impossibly cute, a mini cafe that feels like a hidden boutique find, quaint in all the right ways. The croissants are the genuine article: buttery, flaky layers with that perfect golden exterior that only comes from someone who truly knows what they're doing. Every pastry here is crafted with care and it shows in every bite. And the mocha coffee? That alone is worth the trip. Rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced, it pairs beautifully with anything in the pastry case. The staff are warm and genuinely welcoming, making the whole experience feel personal rather than transactional. One thing to keep in mind: this is not a drive-through. It's a small owner-operated cafe where everything is made with intention. Come with time to spare, settle in, and let the experience unfold. Good things take time, and here that philosophy is baked right into everything they do. Yes, prices lean a bit higher than your average coffee shop, but this is quality you can taste. You're paying for authentic French technique that honors the tradition. La Princière is a Thousand Oaks treasure worth every unhurried minute.

My two friends ordered breakfast and were very satisfied with their dishes. Presentation was very nice. I ordered avocado toast as I just love sourdough and avocado together. It was tasty, although next time I'll request no butter on my toast before the avocado is placed as I would prefer to savor the bread rather than the butter. Easy parking in the lot out front. A lot of people around were working, catching up with friends, going on first dates, it was a fun place to get energy and people watch. But the drinks and food are miss or barely hit. The food looks great, the toasts are always gorgeous and delicious. The drinks were unfortunately, very disappointing. I got a large Kauai smoothie and it isn't bad, coconut water, pineapple, strawberry, and banana in a large (24oz) and it tastes like crunchy coconut water. But for $13 I feel like it could've been a lot better. A friend got the morning blend smoothie bowl ($16.50) and an iced London Fog (6) but also didn't like any of it in the end. Describing the London fog as the worst one in her entire life, and only ate the bananas on top of the smoothie bowl. I think personally it's on me that I didn't get one of their signatures, I am a BIG fan of almost every raspberry white mocha I had, but didn't end up getting them, will go next time! The pastries in the window looked so delicious too, but an almost $30 cafe visit is not in my budget as much as I hope it was. I love that they're so accommodating for different restrictions and life goals though, I have multiple friends who don't take seed oils, different milks, vegans, or gluten free and they have an option for literally everyone. I'm so glad they're here!

I found this spot online and headed over and Im glad I did. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by the owners, husband and wife team who immediately made me feel welcome. They were eager to walk me through the menu, offered great suggestions, and were incredibly patient while my brain was still waking up at 9am lol. Their kindness and humor made me feel right at home. This place also feels homey. If you take a moment to look around, you'll notice the personal touches such as the artwork, photos, and thoughtful details that tell a story of their family. Okay Now to get to the good stuff the drinks and bites are stellar, here's what I got: I finally found a seriously addicting chai here in the 805. I'm very picky about chai, so when Robin insisted "you're trying this" so I listened and I'm so glad I did haha. Freshly brewed, no artificial flavors, perfectly spiced. I think I would dub this one of the BEST chai's I've ever had. 10/10. Their classic breakfast bites hit the spot too. I had a breakfast sandwich with crispy bacon and a fresh egg. Simple but good. I'd get this again but also would be open to trying some of their other bites. 8/10. The handmade bakery section here was unreal. The apple pastry I ordered was pure nostalgia and absolutely delicious. I can't wait to come back and try more of their daily baked goods. The selection was huge and lots of different options to try. I think their passionfruit pastry will be calling my name next time. Lastly I leave you with a Fun fact: if you're a football fan or into chess, this is your cafe. Chess tables are available for playing at and it's the perfect morning spot to catch matches over coffee and pastries. Liverpool fans especially welcome here ;) Sorry it took me so long to find this spot but they've got a new fan now!

I found the atmosphere to be so inviting, warm and modern with plenty of seating and a really nice outside patio. I would also mention that's it's so nice not to lumped in the middle of a strip mall like, ' Longevity in TO & Ragamuffin in Newbury Park' . I love the design of the interior! I have been to a ton of coffee locations in the area, ( Westlake, TO, Newbury Park, Oxnard, Ventura , Santa Barbara, Malibu) and this Cafe Ficelle location is up there with the best of them. Yes the parking is not perfect- but....the service I found on my, 'so far 5 visits' has been excellent and my ' cappuccinos' have been perfectly made and tasted superb. I also had a Tri Tip sandwich which I also found to be really tasty. I am a fan and would encourage you to give it a shot and look past the 3.7 stars on Yelp- I hope this location makes it as the Pizza place that was next to it didn't.

Crusty, toasted baguette, tender tri-tip, and perfectly melted Gruyere. The dipping sauce was rich and flavorful, a perfect complement. Each sandwich also came with a fresh side salad of arugula and goat cheese. The croissants were very good. We arrived close to closing, so the pastries may not have been at peak freshness. I would recommend enjoying them earlier in the day, ideally with coffee or tea. Since we were sharing, our server sliced each croissant in three pieces. Thank you! The cafe itself is charming, with warm dark wood, cozy seating, and a fireplace that adds to the ambiance. Indoor temperature was a bit cool during our visit, but still a pleasant environment, and there is outdoor seating as well. The staff was friendly and service was quick. One small note: it would help if the staff had a better grasp of the menu and felt more confident describing it. The food speaks for itself and is worth highlighting. Parking was close and easy, and I especially enjoyed the light jazz playing in the background, including standards sung beautifully by Ella Fitzgerald. P.S. I always forget to snap photos. The sandwich was Insta-worthy.

I ordered the chile verde omelette and had high hopes. The texture was perfect and they absolutely delivered on the crispy hash browns (which I specifically asked for ), but overall it just lacked seasoning. Solid, but a little disappointing--6/10. The chilaquiles with carnitas were the standout. The sauce was really good and the chips stayed nice and crunchy, which I loved. The carnitas were flavorful, though the egg was a bit bland and the potatoes didn't add much. Still, a strong dish overall--7.8/10. And I have to shout out Alex, our server--10/10 service. Super attentive and made the whole experience better. Would I come back? Maybe, but mostly for the chilaquiles and the great service.
