That was totally fine - but we ended up waiting about 10 minutes - even better!! They'll put your name on a wait list then send you a text so you can easily track when your table is almost due. We went for good food and left super satisfied. My mom ordered the Southern Breakfast which offered a good amount of food and she loved it, she said the ham was very tasty and that it tasted like bacon! It was nice for that option you could choose a biscuit or toast as a side. We also got a single biscuit and gravy to share. The gravy was delicious and the chorizo added a nice little spicy kick to it. I can see why these are so popular here! My brother ordered the dirty south biscuit and he was also very satisfied. It had a little bit of everything and was steps above a traditional breakfast sandwich. I personally ordered a pancake topped with strawberries and I love that they offer to bake the strawberries in too. Bacon was crispy, thick. Everything was super fresh. Our server was wonderful and I regret not catching her name. She came about 5 times to ask if we needed anything, any extra coffee, coffee to go. She was exceptional and I appreciate that they are so detail oriented here. We had a great meal and ate very comfortably here. Only issue is that we were slightly ready for a nap after. So happy to have stopped by!

Watched multiple people get sat when we're were next in line so we went and asked, then they realized the mistake. Said they sent us a text letting us know our table was ready, and that it must've not gone through because the wrong number and that they would text us when next table opened. Waited again in car for another 30 minutes and finally went back in to see what the problem was, they had put us back at the END of the line so they were seating more people in front of us. Overall waited almost an hour before leaving because restaurant was closing soon. Frustrating waste of time.

We finally had an opportunity to stop in and try this place out…read more They have outside seating and some comfortable couches inside. We started with the Bori bori coffee, a mixed fruit smoothie, guava pastry, cheese and guava pastry and a cookie. Service was quick and everyone was friendly. We asked for our pastries to be warmed up because we like them like that. They were good and very fresh. I was hopping for more guava and that's the only reason I rated the place a 4. We are used to having our guava pastries full of guava, that when you take a bite it spills over on the sides! It is nice place to come in and have a coffee and pastry, they also have the lunch truck outside which is great because we have had their food and it's full of flavor. They had other Spanish pastries, so maybe on my next visit we will try them out!

They had to-go sandwiches, yogurt, parfait, hard boiled eggs as well as pastries, cookies (one type), frosted cake, maybe flan, coffee, and food from the Wilmiricans food truck. Placed my order for pastries, coffee, and Wilmiricans food with the cashier. I had a drip black coffee, (Puerto Rican coffee), which was very good, served in a petite teacup. I was disappointed they did not have nitro coffee because the machine was not working or something like that. From the food truck, ate the Cuban sandwich, which was excellent. The bread was so soft, meat was tender. It was served with crispy french fries. The sandwich was huge, couldn't finish all of it. I wish I could've had it for a delicious leftover sandwich the next day, but my toddler ate all of the bread and just left me with the filling. All of the pastries were good, especially when I warmed them up at home. They served them at room temperature on site. My favorite was the El Bori Pastelillo, a savory filling of ground meat and small pieces of white potato with a sweet glaze on the outside of the pastry. The other pastries I tried were called quesitos, danishes, and pastelillitos, according to the receipt. The quesitos had a sweet cream cheese filling. One of the danishes, I'm assuming, was like a doughnut with several layers, drizzled with chocolate. I also liked the other danish that had a sweet icing with fresh fruit on top. Wish this place was closer so I could frequent more!

The whole restaurant is super cute, albeit it does get really hot inside with only fans when there are lots of people inside. The tables are clean and the staff is friendly. The avocado toast has awesome goat cheese and the bacon you can add on is wonderful. The bad: Honestly extremely disappointed today. This is my third time here and I've been recommending them to all of my friends and family. We came in at 2 pm when they close at 4, drove 30 minutes for lunch, for the "kitchen to be closed". No where on their website or anywhere else do they advertise that they may close the kitchen early and I asked when it typically closes and they said they can just decide to close it when they feel like it, so they're only serving coffee and smoothies. We opted for smoothie bowls and they were completely liquid, we had to drink them and not eat them with spoons. There was also chunks of frozen fruit that didn't get blended and there was no spirulina and zero coconut flavor. Not sure who was working today but it was honestly such a bad experience that I don't think I'll be back or be recommending them to people anymore. $13 for basically a banana and handful of blueberries with melted juice and frozen pineapple chunks is highway robbery. Added two stars for the two prior experiences, I guess.

Conveniently located in the center of Topsail Island, it was a 15-minute drive from our 2022 Airbnb stay. With next two stays at Saltwater Suites in 2025, the drive was less than 5 minutes. In the three stays, we had breakfast here six times. It had everything we wanted. My son and I are sticklers for routine. In the first four visits, we ordered the same thing: 2 scrambled eggs with toast & home fries for me, and pancakes for him. Orders were placed at the counter. Then we went upstairs to the dining area and waited for the orders to be served. There were no issues with the order, food or service during these visits. In both 2022 visits, I had coffee; in both 2025 visits, I had Mountain Dew. Refills are free for both coffee and soda. My order tasted better than a similar one I had at Tick Tock Diner in New York City. It was great value for money. I always felt that I ate enough to last me through lunch. There was no reason to try anything different. Unlike Tick Tock Diner, NY Corner Deli did not have any TVs in the dining area. I appreciated this as we go to the beach to get away from the world. Furthermore, there weren't many people in the dining area whenever we were here (before 9am). Can't speak for the dining experience at any other time of the day. Things were slightly different when we visited in 2026. Pancakes were not available, so son had french toasts in both visits. In the first visit, I ordered my usual; in the second visit, I tried something different and ordered western omelet (with toast & home fries). Don't let the photo fool you. The western omelet was bigger than it looked. "Hearty" is an understatement. It was so filling that I skipped lunch and had a light dinner. Mountain Dew was no longer available as the establishment defected to Coca-Cola, so I had Coke Classic both times. If you like a decent breakfast and a quiet atmosphere, New York Corner Deli is the place to be. It will continue to be our breakfast place whenever we are in the Topsail / Surf City area.

The walls are covered in black-and-white prints of the Brooklyn Bridge, sepia-toned yellow cabs, and metal street signs screaming Broadway and 5th Ave. The seating is divided into two thrillingly average, non-beachy options: Upstairs or Downstairs. Both levels feature the exact same standard-issue, wobbly metal diner chairs, with vinyl tables upstairs. The menu is an everything menu, nothing specific, no specialties, consider this a one stop shop for anytime of the day. It serves up a breakfast that is heavy, completely unpretentious, and designed to fill you to the brim. Like the rest of the menu, it doesn't aim for culinary innovation; it aims for maximum density and they are open when everyone else is closed. By the time you scrape the plate clean, you are utterly, heavily full and ready to take on the day. Cheers!
