We ended coming here twice. When we first went on a Sunday we got there around 9 am and there was already a line. It is obvious this place stays absolutely slammed. By the time they took my order, there were 11 people behind me. Food was good, fresh, and not a hipster type of food cultivation place. If it says anything, we came back on Monday around 9 am and no one was in line. It was much easier getting our food on Monday then it was on Sunday. Well made egg sandwich but that's about it. No wow factor. No culinary expertise. Imagine a good brioche bun with a juicy wet egg, bacon, sausage, and each bun differs but only by one kind of sauce. Worth the try, but would not come back. Any good home cook that doesn't overcook things and seasons well, can replicate this. read more

Where did the hype come from?! Maybe this place used to be better, but it definitely wasn't worthwhile when I experienced it. I got the sausage, egg, and cheese and truffle hash brown. The Turkey sausage tasted dry and flavorless. The bun overwhelmed the too runny egg and the aioli sauce was all squeezed into one end of the sandwich instead of evenly spread. The truffle hash brown somewhat compensated, but I definitely wouldn't try this place again. read more

We heard the hype about this local LA spot, so we decided to stop by prior to heading to LAX. We got there just before 9am so there was no wait. The service was fast. I thought it was interesting they have a fairly limited menu (3 more traditional breakfast egg sandwiches, 3 sandwiches, 2 specialities, a side salad and a cookie), but I'd say their breakfast egg sandwiches are where it's at! We both had the Fairfax (cage-free soft scrambled eggs and chives, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and sriracha mayo in a warm brioche bun). I added avocado and my bf added bacon. Both of us were happy with our choices! The eggs were cooked perfectly and the cheese was melted just right, but the brioche is what makes the sandwich! Yum! read more

After years of hearing about this place, we finally made it on a recent trip to LA. It was definitely good, altho it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. The line was shorter than I'd expected, but it still took awhile to get our food. I had an egg salad sandwich (the only cold sandwich on the menu). Honestly, a pretty average breakfast sandwich. I had the bacon egg and cheese with honey mustard aioli instead of ketchup, while my partner had the egg salad. The proportions weren't quite right for me and I wish that it was more flavorful. The BEC was definitely the winner over the egg salad. We also shared truffle hash browns -- small serving size and I couldn't really taste any truffle, but crispy and delicious! We went at about noon on a Sunday and only had to wait in line for 10 minutes, but it did take another 15 or so for our food to be ready. There's some nice outdoor tables but you have to be prepared to pounce. It's worth coming for Grand Central Market alone since there's so many interesting looking food options I wanted to try. Eggslut is definitely a great comfort food of downtown LA! The brioche bun, the juicy egg and the savory bacon, what's not to love? But I have to be honest, I'm not quite sure what changed but this year something seems to be different. Don't get me wrong, it's still delicious, but I'm not sure if they changed some of their ingredients or the way they make their sandwiched, but it doesn't quite hit the same way it used to. A few years back I would definitely given it a 5/5, but now I'm airing on the side of 4/5. I'd still never turn it down if someone asked me to go though! read more

I remember this place tasting better some years back. Went there today and the line was super short. I probably wouldn't wait in a long line for it though. We ordered: Bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, egg salad sandwich, orange juice, and truffled hash browns. Didn't get the Slut this time, but from what I remember years ago, it was really good - probably should've gotten this again. Bacon, Egg & Cheese: Hearty breakfast sandwich and it's what you'd expect. Pretty basic. Egg Salad Sandwich: I was very disappointed with this - it was so bland!!! The bitterness of the arugula overpowered everything because the egg salad itself was so incredibly bland! Unfortunately I only ate half. Truffle Hash Browns: I'd go here just for these and wish they gave more than 6 pieces in the order. They were extremely crispy and I could taste the truffle and seasonings. They were flavorful enough to not even need the container of ketchup that came with it. They should take out the ketchup and add an extra 2 pieces of hash browns instead. Orange Juice: Less than $4 and very refreshing. It would be nice if they offered a larger size for purchase. We sat at their counter and I couldn't help but notice the fun and positive attitudes the staff had while they were cooking. That was nice to see! read more

I was spending a day out in Downtown LA and I came across Eggslut. I had tried it in Vegas years ago so I knew it was good! If you're vegetarian, try the Fairfax! Cage-free soft scrambled eggs, chives, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and sriracha mayo in a warm brioche bun. Those buns! The eggs are fluffly, almost melting in your mouth. The Caramelized onions and mayo are a nice touch. The wait time was not bad, it was around 15 min. Definitely worth the wait! read more

Perfect weekend morning brunch option even with all the others at Grand Central Market! The line to order was slow, but the food didn't take too long to be prepared and then we scarfed it down. We ordered the bacon/egg/cheese, sausage/egg/cheese, and Fairfax. All were greasy goodness - a little on the plain side (stronger sauce could've been good), but it was just what we needed. We love the name, but keep coming back for the slutty eggs. We usually get the regular one with sausage and runny egg. They are so delicious. They are a little pricey, but that's part of going out. I don't get why people come on here and complain about the price. Go be poor and make a sandwich at home. read more

Monday at noon, my friend and I were greeted by safe, efficient customer service and no line! - Slut: $9: quite an innovative concept since the potato and egg combined into a flavor that was more than the sum of its parts! The potato purée was smooth but not outstanding. Both my friend and I wished for more slices of their toasty baguette since they were very thin. I did feel as if we were paying for the aesthetics and originality as well as for the dish itself. - Fairfax: $8.25: the brioche bun was perfect - crunchy, buttery and lightly sweet! It is also a miracle how their scrambled eggs can remain so light while also tasting so creamy and savory. Melty cheese complemented them well, but I couldn't taste the sriracha mayo. Caramelized onions added texture and lingering complexity. Loved it! Flavors are spot-on and make you realize how much there is to love about eggs! However, I don't think it'd be worth waiting in line for an hour for, and I'm happy to have just tried Eggslut once. read more

This place always had a long line in the grand central market which prevented me to go. Finally, the line was shorter during the pandemic so we had a chance to try. It was too famous so that we had a really high expectation on it. We ordered the slut, bacon, egg & Cheese sandwich and fairfax. The potato puree in the slut was really creative, although the portion was small with the price. The bacon, egg & cheese was good and generous on the bacon, which made the sandwich a little bit salty. The scramble eggs in fairfax was really creamy and fluffy, but only the chive and scramble eggs made the sandwich little bit bland comparing to the bacon, egg & cheese sandwich. Overall, considering the food, portion and the price, this place is worth to try with a shorter line. read more

Filipino American Chef, Alvin Cailan, created his mini chain of restaurants from humble beginnings that started with a food truck to brick and mortar joints in L.A., Las Vegas and beyond. I've had this place bookmarked for a while now since he's been featured on so many foodie channels, and I love my egg just as much as the next person. Egg is so versatile as it can be prepared and cooked in so many various ways from sweet to savory dishes. It also takes an expert to cook them right as an overcooked egg is just the same as an overcooked steak, IMHO. I know about the long lines and we were prepared for it. That's why Wifey lined up immediately as soon as we arrived here while I got to explore the rest of the market. Their menu is kept to a minimum maximizing quality control on all the dishes they served. As soon as she was about to reach the counter, she texted me so I could meet her and having already studied the menu, we already knew what we were going to get. We didn't want to go overboard since we also wanted to try the other dishes from the other food vendors so we got the following: Slut (cage-free coddled egg on top of a smooth potato purée, poached in a glass jar, topped with gray salt and chives, served with 3 slices of baguette). Fairfax (cage-free soft scrambled eggs and chives, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and sriracha mayo in a warm brioche bun). Bacon, Egg & Cheese (hardwood smoked bacon, cage-free over medium egg, cheddar cheese and chipotle ketchup in a warm brioche bun). Side Salad (arugula dressed in red wine vinaigrette, served with manchego cheese on top). What can I say, the Slut was just as we expected it to be. It was creamy, delicate, decadent and lived up to the expectation. An egg dish that is truly elevated in its highest form. Once blended with the potato purée, it was a silky smooth texture of delicious flavors that slid down the tongue and melted with a creamy yolk coating of wonderful umami explosion. How can a dish appear to be so simple, but yet so complex at the same time? Definitely the star of the dishes. As for the breakfast sandwiches that we ordered, we watched them make it in front of our eyes and the level of skill and speed that cooked them to perfection was very impressive. We watched them make the same dish over and over and they were all consistent on each and every one. The eggs comes out at as fluffy and creamy, and I definitely picked up on a few pointers. The salad was a good dish, but nothing stood out about it, but it's a solid and healthy side dish to have. We will definitely try their burgers and the Gaucho the next time around. It's also a feeling of pride to have a Filipino-American chef making it in the mainstream of America's food culture. And he's not entirely making Filipino dishes, but he's making American dishes with a hint of his Filipino-American upbringing. It's a long time coming and it's about time. He is part of the new generation of young Fil-Am chefs that represents us and our culture that has been almost invisible and underrepresented for far too long. read more

The decor of Eggslut is simple, artsy and photo-worthy. It is a perfect place for a brunch date and the ambiance is really cozy and relaxing. The staff is friendly, energetic and serves everything quickly. Their food was not just pretty and it was as great to eat as it was to photograph. There were limited options on the menu and they were all about eggs as the restaurant's name implies. We ordered two egg sandwiches and one Slut. The sandwiches were amazingly tasty, especially the soft and puffy brioche bun. However, we didn't really enjoy their signature Slut which was an egg dishes in a tiny jar made with coddled egg, homemade potato puree and topped with chives. To me, these types of places are more about how trendy it is and the experience itself, which was great. It's a cool place. If you want a breakfast sandwich, it's worth going! EggSlut- First off, I LOVE the name..hehehe. I had an appointment in the same area so I Googled Breakfast and Eggslut was right around the corner from my appointment. I arrived around 9:00a, on a Thursday. There was no line at all. Cashier was very helpful and friendly. I ordered the Bacon, Egg and Cheese, but I really wanted to taste the Gaucho sandwich. Unfortunately this sandwich is not sold at this location. MY food cam out very quick and I added fresh orange juice. Total for both was $12+. A little step for an egg sandwich and some OJ but I get it. The best part of the sandwich I think was the bun. I love that its served on a slightly toasted brioche bun. That was the highlight to me. Orange was very fresh but could have been a little colder to my liking. Overall I will try them again but at a different location. read more

Yes Eggslut is iconic and yes, it does live up to the hype. Always a line here but it moves fast. The food comes out just as fast. We ordered a couple of Fairfax's and one Sausage Egg and Cheese sandwich. The bun was so buttery and held up well with the filling. The egg was cooked perfectly, it had a nice runny yolk. The sausage added a good umami flavor as well as the cheese. The sandwiches were washed down so well with their fresh orange juice, the perfect combo! read more

We were looking for a light breakfast this morning and this place really hit the spot! The portions were perfect and both the "slut" and the bacon cheese and egg sandwich were perfect. We shared both our food and they both complemented each other very well. I put the purée from the slut onto the BCE and it tasted at least 10x better. We were on our way out of town and wanted a quick bite . Our hotel was around the corner so we decided to stop in . I got the Bacon Egg and Cheese Sandwich and my husband got the Sausage Egg and Cheese and we split an order of hash browns . Everything was delicious. The bacon was crispy and both sandwiches had plenty of meat. The only thing I would have changed was to request the egg fried hard or scrambled eggs. The yoke was runny and it made it hard to eat in the go. The hash browns were crispy and topped with truffle salt which I usually don't like however it was not overpowering . I so so sooo wanted to LOVE this place but my visit left me literally salty. ): I've walked by this spot every single time I've gone to grand central market and I've even recommended this place to friends visiting from out of state/town. I was so excited to finally try eggslut but was disappointed. We ordered the following: +_bacon egg and cheese: THIS WAS SO SALTY. It was literally like licking a brick of salt but in egg form. In hindsight I should've just brought it back to them and asked for a remake but we kept trying to convince ourselves that it'd be less salty. LMAO. By the time we accepted defeat, it felt like it was too late to ask for them to remake it. Idk why we put ourselves through that because our stomachs were NOT happy with us after. Otherwise, the buns and consistency of the egg were good. I literally couldn't taste anything else besides the salt. *gag* +_fresh orange juice: this was tasty, definitely saved us from the salty bacon egg and cheese we forced ourselves to eat. The acidity helps break up the bread and the egggggs. How can you ever go wrong with oj? +_the slut: this was the only redeeming part of my visit. I honestly want to learn how to make this at home. This is "a coddled egg on top of silky smooth potato purèe in a glass jar, served with slices of baguette." It was uper tasty and I wish we ordered two of these instead of the bacon egg and cheese. Fairfax with avo & bacon. It's fluffy, sweet, tangy, crispy and warm. Can't go wrong with caramelized onion, mayo sriracha, crispy bacon, soft and creamy scrambled eggs, melted cheese, avocado on buttery brioche. I sometimes get cheese burger and its also very good. I don't get other sandwiches since I don't think its as good as Fairfax or the cheeseburger. OJ goes really well with the sandwiches. I sometimes get Slut but I always end up regretting it, its kinda bland and boring for me (also you're still hungry after having it). This was my second time visiting this awesome location. This unique food spot is surrounded by other food businesses. However, the line tells the story of its popularity. Eggslut has a delectable take on their breakfast sandwiches and they also have a special gem called SLUT. Which is a purée potato which is whipped to perfection. It's so smooth and tasty. Topped with a natural poached egg. So the yolk was dark orange. Mmmm I just knew it would be so good. This order comes with two slices of bread with aioli drizzled on top. After waiting in line for about 20 mins., we finally got to order our egg sandwiches. Then another 10 mins until they were ready. Finally, time to taste what had been so hyped. And.... Okay, but not worth a 35 min wait. If it's a weekday and the place is not swamped with people and you're in the mood for a really good Egg Muffin, then by all means try Egg Slut. You can't go wrong. I have been to Egg Slut twice this month! Each time it has been an amazing experience. I can't break out of my habit of ordering the signature dish, Egg Slut with a side of bacon. I had never had a "coddled" egg before. Amazing! The egg is similar to a poached egg and it sits atop a bed of yummy pureed potato. Not sure how they get the potato to the consistency they do, but it just works. The dish is actually not served in a dish at all but a small jar. It is perfectly seasoned and served with baguette toast points, also outstanding. If I had just one request it would be to offer a double! A larger jar with two eggs would be absolutely perfect! Then there is the bacon. Not sure where it is from but it's easily the best bacon I have ever had! I'm in LA often and I make it a point to get to Egg Slut. Best advice: Get there at 7:45 so you can be first in line. It's fun to watch the security guard shoe away people trying to sneak in early (he takes his job VERY seriously). When the big bell rings, run down the left side and get in line first. Part of the charm of Egg Slut) is to eat at the counter and watch the magic happen. Eggslut is a restaurant that is well-known for its egg-based dishes. With a catchy name and a reputation for serving unique and delicious dishes, it's no surprise that the restaurant has gained popularity among food enthusiasts. However, my experience at Eggslut was mixed. I had initially visited the location in Las Vegas, but the wait was too long like 2 hours, so I decided to try their location in Los Angeles instead. The wait time in LA downtown was about 20 minutes, which was reasonable considering the restaurant's popularity. I ordered their signature dish, the "fairfax". The scramble egg was soft and had a creamy texture that paired well with. The dish was indeed unique and tasty, and I could see why it has become one of their most popular dishes. However, the price of the dish was quite steep, especially for its portion size. I felt that the cost was not justified, considering that I could have easily made the same dish at home for a fraction of the cost. Additionally, the restaurant's menu is limited, and the options available were not substantial enough to warrant the high price point. Despite enjoying the food, the overall experience did not leave me with a desire to return. The cost of the meal, combined with the long wait time at their Las Vegas location, made it seem like an overrated restaurant. My second visit...got to the stand a little before 12 noon...line was very long...be smart, and went to Carl's Jr. across the street. For the price of a soda at Grand Central Market plus $2, I can get a double cheese burger, fries, onion rings, a chocolate chip cookie and a aycd soda at Carl's. Waited until 1:30pm and went back to Eggslut. The line was much shorter. The wait was 20 minutes. This time I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich and a slut. I was not that hungry, so I did not finish everything. The sandwich was good. In particular the egg bread bun, it was very soft and moist. The egg was cooked to perfection...the yolk flowed out. The sandwich was good, but is it worth $7. It is not $5 better than a Carl's Jr. Double cheeseburger. Then, I had the slut. The salts are concentrated at the top, so mixed the egg yolk with the egg white to lessen the taste of the seasoning. The egg yolk is amazing the last time. The mixture of yolk, white and mash potato is top. However, after some serious consideration about cost versus reward...I will not patron this place any more. Like most places in The Grand Central Market they are charging premium prices for good to average products. Simply the food quality and taste are not worth the money that they are asking for. I'll be honest, I was really hesitant to try this one, but Sarah was so excited to try it that she even offered to pay for me if I went with her. How could I turn down that offer? We decided to hit it for lunch, which turned out to be a pretty big mistake. After we paid for our parking, it was really easy to find the place - right in front of the entrance! Not having to search was a nice plus, but the line of people was insane. It stretched all the way outside. The servers work fast (which you can actually watch them do), so while we did have a half-hour wait, it could have been much worse. Workers were friendly, even after dealing with all those people. They made suggestions and were great at dealing with first-time customers. We both ended up trying the Eggslut Cheeseburger. Prices are a bit high, but not too bad. Expect to spend $10+ per person, especially if you add a salad or drink. The food was good and very freshly made, but really didn't live up to the hype. Maybe it's just because eggs aren't that high on my list of favorite foods, but this fell a bit flat for me. Still, if you love eggs, you're sure to enjoy this place much more than I did. Service couldn't have been better, the restaurant is clean and easy to find, and everything is made fresh with quality ingredients. read more

I highly recommend this place. My wife found it on TripAdvisor or some other travel site like that. We are locals, but we love to frequent places like this. I was pleasantly surprised at their menu. I thought that it would be simple and corny, but the food is delicious and the ingredients are quite sophisticated if you know what they are doing. The area is very high foot traffic, so I would say plan to go here early so that you can beat the crowd. It is located next to a hotel that frequently since it's guess over for a quick bite to eat. It is also near the Venice Boardwalk Sopo come here to grab a bite before they trek on the beach. I prefer my eggs a little runny and that is how they provide them on their sandwiches. They use a brioche bun so the softness of the bread is pure heaven. The interior of the restaurant is cozy and a light so you have a feeling of relaxation but also of modern cool. Without sounding too dramatic, this place is just a cool place to eat. I would recommend that you use this place if you are meeting someone for the first time or a first date, or if you want a light casual business meeting this place will also work. I have not had this experience but I heard that celebrities even eat here. I'm hoping to run into Denzel one day, good luck! read more

Ive been here a couple times, and now I can finally right a review after trying most of the dishes. My favorite is the sausage bacon and cheese and I can clearly say that it is the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. The egg is perfectly runny, and the turkey sausage and warm brioche add a little texture. It is perfect savory goodness. The Fairfax is also pretty good but I find it is too runny... but that is why they give a fork with it! But no matter what, all their food with runny eggs is gonna be a bit of a mess anyways. They cook the soft scramble with a LOT of butter so it is fillingggg. The actual slut dish was my least favorite. The portion is small for $9 and you are paying for the novelty of a mason jar. It was also too salty for me. Anyways, beware the line ups and come early, especially on a weekend. Once everything else opens in the market, there will be no place to sit and it is very crowded. We came late on a Sunday once around noon and the wait was around 1 hour to get our sandwiches. The good thing is there are lots of foods to buy to snack on while waiting in line! So although there are a few cons, why 4 stars? It is because it is THAT good, especially coming from someone who rarely eats American breakfast read more

Eggslut is for the egg lovers obviously. Simple menu and concepts yet executed wonderfully. There probably only 10 things on the menu minus the beverages. I ordered the bacon egg and cheese. I have had the honor of trying it on the bun and the biscuit. I have to admit the biscuit blows the bun out of the water. The biscuit can be added for free or if youd like to just try it, its $2. The egg was cooked nicely and was dripping of yolky goodness. Be careful because it can explode on you as it did on my friends purse. Its probably best to give it a jab before you bite into it. Service is good. Lady was patient, attentive and very friendly. Place may be in the middle of no where. Its in the Grand Central Food market in Downtown LA. Seats are not ample because it can get busy especially on weekends. Be mindful its first come first serve so having a big group is not recommended. Prices are cheap and be sure to validate! Free for 1 hour. Validation works with Eggslut then you have to go to customer service which is in the middle of the market and they will validate once more. This review is a little past due but it's still a review nonetheless. So, Eggslut is around here to cook us eggs perfectly - woop di doo! How exciting... NOT. Not when you have to wait a little over an hour to get a little sandwich that's supposed to satisfy your hunger but completely fails to do so. Sure, I may be a fat kid but come on. Those sandwiches are ridiculously small and, pricey. I got the fairfax and had them add bacon in it. Yup, I had extra bacon and was still hungry after (lol). Was it a flavorful sandwich? It was flavorful enough but not enough for me to be able to claim that there was a party in my mouth. Did the sandwich disappoint? Yes, because of its size and the fact that there was really nothing that was so mind blowing about the sandwich. I mean, I waited an hour and a half, at least give me something that's worth the wait. Bottom line is, I wasn't happy with Eggslut. Between the hype, long wait lines and nothing captivating about their food, I wouldn't say I'd go back and fall in line for it nor would I want them for my breakfast or brunch! read more

I had heard about this place for a while now so I decided to try it out after a weekend gym session since it's right around the corner. I have to admit, I was not too impressed. Upon arriving, the line was already making its way across the marketplace. It took me an hour to get to the front and by that time the lunch menu was available to order from. I ordered their Cheeseburger and decided to try their Slut too. The cheeseburger was nothing extraordinary. It comes with buttered pickles but either they skimped out on my order or they just weren't prominent enough to taste. The burger was also on the smaller side. The Slut, which is a coddled egg on top of pureed potatoes which you mix inside a glass jar, was better than the burger. It looked questionable but give it a chance. The potatoes were soft and the egg made it so much better. It comes with a side of bread, but mine was so hard, i just left it there. Overall, it didn't meet any expectations. There's so many other places inside the market to try, I think I'll give those a try next time. read more

Eggslut at Grand Central Market completely lives up to the hype. It's vibrant, fast-paced, and serves up what might be the most perfectly executed breakfast sandwiches in Los Angeles. The eggs are cooked to absolute velvety perfection, and when paired with their warm, pillowy, heavily buttered brioche buns, every single bite is incredibly rich and satisfying. If you are impatient, this may not be the place for you. There is always a line...30-40 min wait o_O Although the wait is long, the staff are pleasant while they slave away in the kitchen. Their menu is pretty small. I had the opportunity to try a couple items, such as the Fairfax, Gaucho, and Slut. That was like half the menu lol The Slut is the most popular item. It consisted of coddled egg with potato puree on baguette. I liked it. The Fairfax was pretty good too. It came with all the things I like on it--eggs, cheddar, chives, cheese and sriracha mayo. The Gaucho, what can I say. I love meat and chimichurri! It came with wagyu tri-tip steak, chimichurri, red onions, arugula, and egg. This is a great selection for carnivores. I especially loved the chimichurri sauce. I can eat this thing for days! Parking can be expensive if you stay longer than 1.5 hrs at the Grand Central Market parking lot. It's $2 = First 90 minutes, then $2 = Each additional 15 minutes. read more

Only been here once, and the egg sandwich was definitely delicious, but I don't understand the hype around this place. First of all, it's in downtown Los Angeles, so getting here is not an easy feat (nor is finding parking), and staying down here once you're done eating is, I would assume, unappealing to most people. I did, admittedly, come here on a Sunday afternoon, so that was definitely a mistake on my part. It took about 30 minutes to drive here from Westwood, 20 minutes to find a parking spot (which I was lucky to even find), and another hour and a half to order my food. Once ordered, the service was pretty quick and the staff were all very accommodating and pleasant, but I just didn't find the small sandwich to be worth the 3 hours spent driving, parking, and waiting in line. Maybe coming on a weekday would've resulted in a more satisfying experience, but I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon. 3 stars for convenience and wait-time 4 stars for taste and service read more
