Ordered carry out which was ready quickly. I'm glad because it was packed when I went in for pickup. My boyfriend got the Buffalo chicken wings & I got the Eggstravaganza with grits. The French toast was yummy with the strawberries I added to the order. The eggs were cooked perfectly with spinach added as requested. I didn't get a picture of the grits but OMG!! Disappointing Experience at Eggspectation - Charlotte I had high hopes for Eggspectation in Charlotte, given its inviting location, polished branding, and promise of "Brunch & Beyond." Unfortunately, our experience fell short across several areas--from the food to the service. We ordered the Eggsuberant and the Avocado Toast Benedict. The Eggsuberant pancakes had an unexpected orange zest flavor that didn't pair well with the rest of the dish, and the syrup--advertised as warm--was served cold. The eggs and potatoes lacked the basic seasoning of salt, and for a dish that's $18, that's just not acceptable. The Avocado Toast Benedict had potential with its colorful presentation and sauces, but the execution missed the mark. One poached egg was overcooked with a jammy yolk, while the other was uncooked with runny whites. The mixed greens were fresh and enjoyable, and the potatoes were ok--but again, the lack of seasoning was noticeable. Service also left much to be desired. We waited for a table outside while several were left dirty. When we were finally seated, we got to choose our own table but then wait as the hostess tried to finish cleaning it. We had to ask for basic essentials like syrup, ketchup, and salt and pepper--after our food was delivered, delaying our meal and leaving us with lukewarm food. I eventually had to walk to the bar to grab salt and pepper myself. The one bright spot? The café mocha--rich, creamy, and truly enjoyable. Overall, I expected a more refined experience given the restaurant's concept and pricing. Unfortunately, it felt more like form over function. I hope they can iron out these kinks because the potential is definitely there. read more

We tried Eggspectation for brunch based on the previous reviews and after checking out the menu. I would go back again and again if I lived in Charlotte. The food is fresh, and absolutely on point. The shrimp and grits were delicious with creamy, perfectly cooked grits. The omelette, all looked great, was light and fantastic. Their style of home potatoes are awesome! I reccomend you try the poutine gravy with them. We also had the standard eggs Benedict and it looked incredible. The portions are large so come hungry. Lastly, the service was some Of the best I've had. We had Dianna, and will ask for her again if when we go back to Charlotte. She was attentive, funny, a little sarcastic. We've been here for dinner - which we like. Came twice in a week for brunch. Very good! Both groups of friends loved it. List of food: Breakfast poutine, blueberry pancakes (huge! Brunch on Sunday is a good idea always, and this place surpassed! Appreciate the bright and lively atmosphere. Our waitress was great and gave terrific suggestions (forgot her name; African accent(?)) The French Toast is a must! It came with warm pure maple syrup. Thank you for that! The Lyonnaise-style potatoes are great. Check out the shrimp and crab omelette as well. We added peppers and mushrooms for added texture, crunch, and flavor. This place will definitely be going in the rotation! If you fancy mimosas, they offer a version with Grand Marnier by the carafe. Bonus: There was no wait despite being pretty busy. It was a fairly hot day and we didn't get water refills until we were about to leave, the waitress never came back to see if we wanted more coffee or mimosas. The food was so good though! The restaurant is beautiful and I was surprise by it! Menu was creative. My friend and I had the shrimp/crab omelette with potatoes and it was delicious, I would definitely order again. However, the other meal we ordered was the avocado Benedict toast and that left a lot to be desired. Avocado was a small amount of mash spread over the bread. Minimal and no flavor. Staff is awesome but no food options for Vegans or vegetarians tht do not eat eggs. I had no choice but to order but "Avocado Benedict". I got GF a tea they put sliced avocado and onions on top. That's it. I was shocked the way it was plated. I had specifically asked to add mushrooms, it wasn't there, chimichurri sauce tht goes on it was not present and I had asked for eggs on side , even hollaidaise sauce was missing . I was extremely disappointed. They seriously need to do better. staff was welcoming however they did not care enough to make sure the dish was served completely. Def not going there again. read more

New brunch / breakfast spot in Ballantyne and it is DELISH! Service was great from the jump (hard to find these days). The lobster and shrimp omelette with egg whites was AMAZINGGGGGG!!! That order of French toast disappeared so fast, we had to order a second round lol. Lastly, make sure you try their fresh squeezed orange juice (it's definitely giving Famous Toastery some competition right there). Overall beautiful restaurant, spacious with a nice bar area as well. We started with the Lemon Ricotta Blueberry pancakes and this was delicious. It was served with warm pure maple syrup. My cousin got the salmon benedict which came on a croissant rather than an english muffin and she said the croissant was really really good. I'm not a salmon person so I didn't try it but my cousin devoured it and said it was delicious. I had the southwest omelet but I added spinach and mushrooms. This was very hearty and delicious. My only complaint is that it came with breakfast potatoes and the potatoes were super dry on the inside which was disappointing because I love potatoes with my breakfast! the inside was super cute! and the staff was very attentive read more

So happy to come across this place for brunch. They have a great kids menu and my daughter loved her chocolate chip pancakes with marshmallows on them. I enjoyed some scramble eggs with their potatoes, sausage and French toast. The French toast was very spongy and tasty. I quite liked their potatoes as they came with some grilled onions and I love onions! The sausage was very good and my fiancé got the same plate as me except he got ham and that was delicious. The strawberry caramel waffle was also very tasty and they had such great selection of drinks and smoothies. I feel like you can't go wrong with this place. Had the pleasure of attending their soft opening, got to try a limited menu for free. I opted to try the prime rib Benedict. It was flavorful but meat was dry. I'll know next time to ask for extra hollandaise sauce to jazz up the moisture a bit. The potatoes were very good, cooked to perfection. Crunchy edges and soft centers. I came here with a friend for brunch on a Saturday around 11. The wait time for a table was only ten minutes but we decided to sit at the bar. We had a Valencia orange tequila drink and a mimosa; they were both pretty good. The tequila drink tasted mostly like orange juice. My friend had the shrimp and crab omelette and said it was pretty good and I had the shrimp and crab Benedict. It tasted very good but could've used a little salt - no big deal. The portion sizes were also pretty good for the prices. The service could have been better. The bartender didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu and we also had to wave him down a couple times to take our orders. There was also a leak over the last seat at the bar that none of the staff acknowledged or tried to clean up. They just watched people sit there, have water drip on them and watch them get up to find another seat. Overall it was a pretty okay experience. I would go back but I would probably wait for a table next time instead of eating at the bar. read more

I was used to going to Eggspectations in my previous home town of Silver Spring, Maryland (it closed down a few years ago) so I'm familiar with the franchise - and absolutely loved it. So my "eggspectation" was for it to be just as fabulous and flavorful. Sorry to say it didn't live up to expectations. Service was good fora Sunday afternoon brunch time. The decor was similar to the one in DTSS (I'd describe it as whimsical artsy??). There was a wait, but we were seated in a reasonable amount of time. The food, however was lacking. The menu is different from the one in DTSS seems abbreviated. Our server did give us sweet bread appetizer (forgot the name) which was really good. Everything looked great once it came out. I ordered the shrimp and grits. The shrimp was undercooked, the Cajun sauce lacked flavor for me, grits were - meh. I ate less than half of it, it just wasn't good. My brother ordered the chicken and waffles, chicken was undercooked. Potatoes were just as good as I remembered. Our drinks were good (can't remember specifically what was ordered). Our server was pretty on point. But very disappointed in the food we ordered. Perhaps, there are other dishes that were better. read more

Came in for my birthday breakfast and was excited to be there! When we got our food it was cold, and I didn't get syrup for our waffles for almost 10 mins (making my food colder). Once the syrup finally arrived, the pipes in the restaurant bursted resulting in others customers scattering around with their food trying to avoid getting wet. The water leakage led to the restaurant having a smell of sewage, and overall ruined our experience. I understand this was a situation out of their control, but nobody apologized or acknowledged that this could've ruined our experience. When I asked if we could get something comped off our meal, our waitress said the manager gave us 15% off. To me, that doesn't show a business that prioritizes the experience of the customers. The manager not approaching us about the situation, even after they were made aware that we were unsatisfied with our time there, doesn't make me feel valued as a customer. Nice fairly new brunch eatery in the Ballantyne area. Nice ambiance greets you at the door with a bright modern and airy feel. There's ample seating for dining, a bar, and some high style seating near the bar. The menu is full of options to satisfy the breakfast enthusiast, OMAD lunch rider, or belly full dinner fanatic. There's literally something for all. They also have a decent selection of wine, beer, cocktails, mimosas, smoothies, and juices. Dipped in for lunch around 1 pm and was seated promptly. Our server was Amanda who did a fabulous job guiding us through the menu and offering suggestions for some of the popular menu items. We ordered two appetizers, the Gooey Goose Bread-freshly baked with salted maple caramel sauce dusted with cinnamon and sugar and Duck Confit Poutine- fries with duck and cheese, who can resist! A Spiked strawberry Mimosa was ordered just to toast it being Friyay! I will say the portion was a bit small for $11 tag IMO. For entrees we had the Simple Salad which was deliciously fresh and tasty with sliced green apples, blue cheese crumbles, candied walnuts and yogurt balsamic dressing. Nashville Hot chicken sandwich- Just enough Nashville Hot heat. This is not the typical drenched in sauce soggy sandwich which allows for you to enjoy a crunchy tender sandwich with flavor. Make sure to add the spicy slaw on the sandwich. Cajun shrimp and grits- This was the star of the show. Grits were creamy and true comfort food with the perfect Cajun seasoning, bits of andouille sausage, and bacon. Saw another patron enjoying the Lamb Chops which looked devine. I've been back a few times since my last review and really enjoyed my last visit! I got a Green Light juice and the Eggsuberant plate but subbed the blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes. I wanted something sweet but nothing to overwhelming. This was the perfect balance. I thought the portion was great, I ate all of the sides and about a third of the pancakes. Second, the menu is packed with so many delicious options for food and drinks. I settled on the huevos rancheros and OMGoodness were they tasty. Flavorful and spicy (I like spicy). Cappuccino was delicious. And the blueberry lemon ricotta pancake was heaven. Our server was amazing and unfortunately I did not catch her name but she had braces and a kind smile.
