I have lived on Melrose since July and had not yet ventured over to this diner. I am so glad I finally did! I wanted to get out of my apartment for a quick and easy lunch and a little caffeine, and that was exactly what I got. I ordered a sandwich and a cappuccino and both were great. What was most notable about my experience though was the service. I was promptly greeted and seated. My waitress, Vasil, was extremely polite, friendly and was sure to touch the table frequently. I was also checked in with by who I presume was the manager and another server. I was in and out in less than a half hour and back to get on with my attempt at a productive day off from work. Outstanding food and service. We went in for a quick bite by our hotel. I ordered the crepes with greek yogurt and my husband had the banana bread french toast. They were delicious and had an awesome presentation. We looked at each other and laughed when we saw the portion sizes. We were not hungry until dinner. Kevin was our server at the bar and he was very courteous and friendly. We went back this morning before heading to the airport and met Scott, another welcoming server. My girlfriend and I have driven passed this place a hundred times and Im so glad we finally decided to stop in! The entire experience was fantastic. We called ahead to reserve a spot and were seated right away when we got there. A water pitcher with lemon was full and ready on the table. Our server greeted us right away, was very friendly and answered all our questions. Our food come SO FAST. I dont even know if it had been 10 minutes since we ordered before it came. We ordered a couple lattes (they were fiiiire). Each of us had two eggs any style, one with bacon and scrambled egg whites, one with sausage and over-easy. We both agreed the hashbrowns were perfect. Crispy on the top, soft underneath and the perfect amount of salt. We also each upgraded the toast to a fancier side (pancakes and a french toast waffle) SO YUM. In the middle of the meal the manager stopped by to make sure everything was going smooth. I love when restaurants do that. Overall the place is VERY clean, friendly, prompt and very yummy. Pretty darn good! Food was a wee bit hit or miss, but nothing was awful. The corned beef hash is really good, and it has a really sizable portion. The hash browns were a little greasy and limp, but they tasted fine when mixed with the hash. Over easy eggs were perfectly cooked. We also ordered the banana bread French toast. It's beautifully-presented with bananas and pecans sprinkled around it. The nuts add a nice textural contrast to the meal. The French toast itself was just so-so. Because they were such thick slices, it kind of loses the French toast texture in the middle. It tasted like I was eating banana bread with maple syrup. :-\ Cafe mocha was also very milk-heavy. Ye old Melrose: died a sudden death. In its space is a very similar looking establishment: pretty much the same layout and feel with a touchup and feeling fresh. It looked pretty busy on a Saturday brunch but we got in quickly and the food came fast. I love that they give you a small thermos of coffee so you don't have to keep asking for refills, it's about 3 cups worth. The portions are gigantic: at least 2-3 times over recommended intake. Service was efficient though not effusively friendly, but I'd take friendly over syrupy anyday. Great comfort style food with an emphasis on all types of egg and breakfast items, though they have a lunch menu as well. I ordered the turkey club and ended up with a turkey burger, but since I was easy going and just wanted turkey I didn't complain and stuck with the burger which was fine, plenty of fresh cold tomato and lettuce to stack on the hot patty. read more

I ordered the egg + hash brown make your own scramble. I was excited to see that not only did this dish come with a scrambler and hash browns, but also came with pancakes! The food was delivered very quick, and included silverware, butter, and syrup. Overall, I enjoyed the food and it was tasty. However, the green peppers in my scrambler were very undercooked and hard, and my hash browns were also undercooked and hard. The chocolate pancakes were delicious. 3 stars! read more

This restaurant was very tastefully decorated. The music set the ambiance. The portions were very large. I'm a coffee lover, that being said the coffee was very tasty!!!! I lived the coffee. I had the egg skillet which was very good and my husband had an omelette with pancakes. The pancakes had a sweetness to them kind of like a dessert, they were served with a sprinkle of confectionary sugar. Very tasty. Our waitress was super nice.
