The curse of the early riser. It's a good thing that I love breakfast. Not many breakfast places are open at 6am (other than McDonald's, Dunkin' and Starbucks) but I found one for you. Extensive menu, lots of beverage choices, friendly staff. Quiet at 6 am, gets progressively louder and crowded as the rest of the world wakes up. I had a breakfast quesadilla and my friend had the "David Kaplan." Very good, generous portions, taking the rest to go. I was crowned the Duke of Eggspresso during this visit, so, no pics.

Solid breakfast choice in the area, which isn't as dense with options some of the areas a bit closer to the city or the Palatine/Arlington Heights area. The restaurant is pretty large and not super busy on a Sunday morning. The decor really pushes the rooster and almost farmhouse style theme throughout. Portion sizes are fairly large and prices are a bit higher than what you'll find elsewhere but still reasonable. Food here was pretty good, I didn't care much for the specialty coffee drinks but find the breakfast options to be quite solid. I like the spongy feeling of the waffle french toast which tastes fairly eggy and has a unique texture that was enjoyable. The corned beef skillet was fairly balanced in terms of protein and potatoes, with plenty of corned beef. It wasn't overly salty, though it seemed like an additional element could've helped to tie the different components of the dish together. The egg white delight omelette was quite large and airy and prepared quite well, this is a nice healthy option when served with a side of fruit. Overall, if you're in the area shopping at nearby Heinen's or Mariano's, this is a nice and convenient option. You can enjoy a meal here casually with friends and choose from a fairly varied menu.

My husband and I met a friend for breakfast at Eggspresso. I love the decorations in this restaurant. The decorations are colorful, plentiful, and make the place feel fun and relaxed. We were seated right away. I had the waffle French toast (housemade waffles dipped in our French toast batter) with chocolate chips. My husband had the corned beef skillet with pancakes. Our friend ordered the Work out Omelette (egg white omelette with chicken breast, broccoli florets and Swiss cheese, served with fresh fruit). Our food came out quickly and everything was delicious. Our server checked on us often and was very nice. Our friend is a regular here and I can see why. I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu!

I found this place wanting breakfast for lunch at work and they serve breakfast until they close in the mid-afternoon. I enjoy all of the options and I have been coming back every once in a while since. I most recently went a week or so ago and pretty much right when the opened. It was fairly empty. Tables were spaced at least 6 feet apart or booths were closed off for social distancing. All employees were wearing masks. I got a Chorizo Omelette which is one of my go-to options here as I don't usually buy chorizo at home to make. It also comes with hash browns and pancakes or toast, but I usually opt for pancakes as I don't make pancakes at home too often. The coffee was decent, not my favorite, but much better than many other breakfast places that I have gone to. I really enjoy the variety of juices and definitely the smoothies that they offer. I had a smoothie to go as I was going to be running errands afterwards. Overall, service was really quick and efficient. Everything inside was socially distanced and since it was early, there wasn't a lot of breakfast goers to begin with. We also really enjoy their outdoor space when it warms up can be nice and shaded due to the layout of the shopping center.

When you pull up to the plaza you would think anything of the restaurant but when you go inside it's a fun colorful experience. When we were seated we were brought waters and menus. We took some time to look at the menus but ultimately took our server's suggestions on drinks. I ended up having a virgin Rose Colored Glasses drink and absolutely loved it. The drinks were large and I felt they were worth the price. My husband got an old fashioned. To start we got the cheese curds, and when I tell you these cheese curds still live rent free in my mind I kid you not. They were so good, the cheese was battered in a tempura batter with a truffle cream sauce and it made for such an incredible dish! For our entrees we got the pork chop with the brown butter sauces and bavette with a red wine reduction. The pork chop was great with the brown butter you just gotta make sure you mix it up, and the red wine was a bit too salty for me but it was okay because I ended up loving the steak by itself! For our sides we got the grilled zucchini under the snacks option instead of the sides option because I wanted all the fixings. It was a great choice! The fixings really made and I could eat a plate of that and just be happy (with the cheese curds of course). The wiped potatoes were great as well. Now I was going to pass on dessert because I was SO full already, but twist my arm when you tell me the cookie dough ice cream is a must try. It had real cookie dough chunks on top and bottle and the vanilla ice cream was not boring vanilla, I ate almost half of that bowl and couldn't stop. The chocolate chip cookie dough was house made and it was the perfect blend of sweet and salty that tied the whole ice cream bowl together. Can't recommend that enough as well. All in all, we had a great experience! It was so fun to see so many regulars and so many new folks who came in to dine at the same time as us and we all peeked to see who ordered what before we ordered and got some great recs as you can see! Can't wait to come back to enjoy my favorites and more!

Started with the bread and crabcakes and the bread was amazing and definitely fresh but the crabcakes needed more crab and flavor. Basically everything needed more flavor. We also ordered a bottle of wine which our server struggled with and never came over to refill the glasses. Then the entree's; my husband's bolognese was bland and desperately needed at least salt and pepper. Then the real problem was my steak which was supposed to be medium came out well done and then classically when it was recooked came out rare or medium rare if you are being generous. Then the waitress said she would check back and she didn't so I had to get salt myself from the server station which is kinda ridiculous especially when paying $54 for a steak that already has no seasoning which is why they offer free sauces which makes a lot of sense now. When she finally did come back I said it was under but not waiting for it to be overcooked again so reheating it at home with the cold side of mushrooms I ordered WITH my steak. I did talk to the manager after and he was not really helpful or sympathetic and I was really talking to him so in my review I could say well at least management cares but that is not the case here. I gave 2 stars because their drinks are good and the ambiance is nice and the hostess was super friendly and was the star employee after our visit. Also we paid for everything even the cold mushrooms and over/under cooked steak! At minimum also remake my mushrooms or comp them. Would I eat here again hopefully not but it is locationally desirable for me and my in-laws and have lots of GF options so might have to and if I do hopefully they will have made things better.

Even if we don't consider its rarity, Da Local Boy is a winner in every category. The prices are very fair for the enormous portion sizes, the decor is fun and appropriate, the service is friendly, and food is phenomenal both in flavors and textures. The only possible criticisms are that the space is a bit small for how popular this spot gets, and the parking in the area can be a bit limited around popular meal times. The food here shines, making it worth a special trip -- both again for the rarity but also the quality. For me, the poke nachos are a must order item, just the perfect mix of large chunks of tuna with super crispy wontons, fresh avocado, and a good helping of sauce. Amongst friends, we've agreed that this is a must order item. The huli huli chicken is also unreal in flavor and texture. Besides being marinated and sauced well, the chicken is melt in your mouth tender while simultaneously having a delicious crisp skin. Think brick chicken, but with more flavor and a much better price. The rice and macaroni salad that accompany this are also well done -- and feel more like a core part of the meal rather than an afterthought. The grilled pork is pretty good as well, though I kind of wish it wasn't sliced as thin, as certain pieces felt a bit dry. The spam musubi with a light touch of furikake also provided a flavorful, fun dish to accompany the other delicious items I tried. Overall, delicious and consistently surprises me with the quality of the execution and bold flavor combinations. This is on my top places to visit in the area and has never disappointed.
