My husband and I came here for the first time in July. We waited for maybe 5 mins on a busy Sunday. Staff was very friendly, we mentioned it was our first time and our server gave us a recommendation. I had soup and a BLT and my husband received some combination of Egg, Sausage and toast. I will say my favorite soup is cream of chicken and I was so pumped (diner soup is always the best). This was very bland and kind of tasted like it was out of a can. But My BLT was huge and I wound up taking it home and having for lunch. Our server gave us a coupon to come back (I think because it was our first time). We have since been back and i ordered toast and a yogurt Parfait (I know I ordered two weird things so far). I wish the yogurt was Vanilla but it was plain. The coffee here is always good. This place has come a long way from when it was a previous name and owner. The food is good, and the prices are fair. The decor is also very nice and the place is clean. The only downside is that they don't appropriately cool the place down in the summer. It's uncomfortably hot, humid and sticky to where it's not pleasant to dine in the restaurant itself. I upped the rating an extra star for the effort. The issue here is the kitchen is not capable of handling even an average Sunday brunch crowd. Unfortunately, I had a seat with a view into the kitchen. To say that the kitchen staff was overwhelmed is an understatement. From the time of order to plates on table was no less than 40 minutes. But that wasn't even the worst part. My omelet literally had an entire egg shell in it. They must have tried hard to cover it up because it was in a hundred small pieces, in every bite. Given the 40 minute wait, I wasn't going to have them remake it, let alone gamble on what would be in the next omelet. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. looks like a new king comes and knows not what was there before - just opened, Eggville Cafe is a breakfast and lunch place a cut above the ordinary diner restaurant you see dotted across the real estate - the menu is an exhaustive selection from which to choose from - and the name gives it away - EGGS - in all the great ways to enjoy them - I tried a spinach & feta omelette and the wife had Belgium waffles - the coffee served prompted my request for a refill and the portions were large. The server was very good, my wife and I had the combo , I.e. eggs over easy, hash browns and French toast with sausage and bacon. The eggs were very cold and the bacon tasted like it was cooked the day before and not fresh, the bacon was cold as well. The waitress had it returned to the cook. I never had eggs served cold ever! Best place in my town for breakfast! They recently renovated (used to be Cary's Family Restaurant) I liked them before but wanted to try out this new menu! This place took me three visits to get through the entire menu. My favorite was the country skillet and the pancakes! The wait staff is very attentive and they refill your drinks a lot. The renovations look great and they really keep the decorations updated for the seasons. Great atmosphere, great people and booths sizable for larger customers. Honestly this was the WORST EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD AT A RESTAURANT!!! Being a server for more than 4 years I've never went through what I did today. My friend and I went out for breakfast ,ordered got our food 10 minutes after receiving our food we were brought boxes.. whatever continued to eat after about 5 minutes passed we were brought our check not asked if we wanted it split or not.. again WHATEVER. This part literally baffled me we went up to pay for our food which we lay all the money out the lady asked if we needed change,we didn't the rest was the servers tip we walked out. After walking out about 2 min later the host follows saying we didn't pay the full amount .. keep in mind she asked us if we needed change ?? So we walk back in thinking maybe it was at the table on the floor anywhere ! Because we knew we payed the full amount. So the owner comes out and sat there argued that we didn't leave the money showing us his register telling us he doesn't know if we want to wait because of our kids .. after I told him to check the cameras.. which he never showed us the cameras he still sat there continued to argue with us, this place was horrible I will NEVER be back ! I'm surprised the ratings aren't better. This place is solid. Busy, but not too busy, very clean, great food served at the right pace and John the owner is extremely nice. He took the time to ask how our meal was and shared his passion for the success of the restaurant. Menu is a little busy but that's not really a complaint. It was just tough to decide with so many choices and some would argue you can't do everything on a large menu 'right'. I had the country skillet and wife had the cheeseburger. Both were great. While Cary itself is rather bleak, Eggville is definitely not. My friend and I have been to loads of brunch places, and Eggville has 4.8 stars on google, so we had high expectations coming here. Let me tell you, we were not disappointed. The waitress was nice and we didn't wait long for our food. My friend ordered the meat lover's skillet and said it was probably the best skillet he'd ever had. We were both surprised at the sheer volume of food he got; he barely finished half! I ordered a pineapple breakfast bowl, which was also pretty good. There was less yogurt and more pineapple than I expected, but I'm not complaining, since I love pineapple. The fruit was very fresh. Upon first looking at Eggville, one would see nothing but a location with all the potential in the world to be a moderately priced, yet easily enjoyed breakfast and brunch excursion. Clean floors, western style oil paintings of farm animals, white trim and hardwood walls welcome the customer in a cozy and neighborly light. In case you have not noticed, I felt that I was in good hands when I stepped into Eggville. And who wouldn't? Everything, down to the establishment's name is oozing with a cocky air of confidence and reassurance. You better have a hell of a good egg if your name is "Eggville". So I went into Eggville optimistic. I was not expecting the world of my upcoming breakfast, but I was expecting a degree of pride to be taken in my anticipated meal. I decided to pick something simple. Something that would cover all of the bases of breakfast, a meal that would please the most skeptical critic and the most indifferent layman. I went with a sausage and over medium egg sandwich on an english muffin with a side of pancakes. I was not asking for a country fried steak or a souffle. I was not trying to make the chef break a sweat, I just wanted a simple and satisfying breakfast. Now let's break down what makes this simple yet elegant meal so... simple yet elegant shall we? Not only is one imbued with a sense of security upon walking into a restaraunt with the confidence of Eggville, this same idea of security goes along with the ordering of a breakfast sandwich. The sandwich is not a complex concept or meal. It abides by 3 golden rules. 1. The sandwich must be easy to pick up and bite into 2. An even distribution of ingredients across the area of the sandwich 3. The sandwich should have minimal "leakage" or loss of stability as it is consumed. Now, anyone who has made a sandwich themselves knows that these rules can be stretched and altered, but never truly changed in meaning or purpose. It's also not terribly difficult to ensure that a two ingredient sandwich (sausage and egg) abide by these rules to the tee. This, my friends, is where Eggville failed me. After a 10 minute wait I had my food in front of me. Everything looked wonderful. My pancakes were two billowy cushions of circular, golden brown perfection. My sandwich was a well purposed and dense stack of American tradition. I took my first bite of the English Muffin. And the yolk of my SUPPOSEDLY over medium egg exploded into the palm of my hand. This one bite told me so much more than the gilded lies of Eggvilles fake attractive looks and rustic attitude. The integrity and the trust between eatery and customer has been treated with the same level of respect as the relationship between the general public and a gas station bathroom. Not only had my sandwich fallen apart in my hand (a direct violation of Rule 3) but the very establishment that named itself so cocklily after the most popular breakfast food across the globe had utterly failed to demonstrate even an elementary comprehension of how to prepare said food. An over medium egg does not violently rupture when the yolk is compromised. There is a layer of solid yolk followed by a liquid yolk filling toward the center of the egg's nucleus. My sandwich may have been edible, but it was not acceptable. Onto the pancakes. Most people know what makes a pancake great as the modes of creation in terms of a flapjack are incredibly blase when compared to egg preparation. My pancakes were outwardly beautiful and my first bite was met with hints of vanilla and... Oh no. That's where the "hints" of flavor ended. And that's also where the abhorrent texture issues crawled out of the primordial soup of mediocre breakfast foods. My pancake was clumpy and mixed poorly. One bite revealed a lump of flour and another led to vanilla so concentrated that I was breathing the fumes out of my nose with every chew. It was at this point that I picked my chin up and put my fork down. I was finished with my "meal". Breakfast is a beloved food genre because it is simple in concept yet nuanced in execution. The reason that focused breakfast diners thrive is because this nuance is unique between each diner. From a Dennys to an IHOP to our very own Eggville, each should have their own perks and drawbacks in relation to each other. Sadly, I think I discovered a diner forged from a solid ore of drawbacks with a myriad of entirely irrelevant perks spearheading an operation doomed to fail before it opened its doors. This is one of our favorite places to go for lunch or brunch. The only reason I would not give it a full 5 stars is that every now and then the food takes a long time. But this is not always the case, so we keep going back. The food is typical diner -- sandwiches, burgers, breakfasts, etc -- and everything I have tried has been good. The fries are very good. They have a frequent diner program which allows you to accumulate points toward a free meal. It takes a while to get enough points, but it works. For "skillets" I think Brunch Cafe might be a bit better but it is close. Brunch Cafe is also a favorite of ours, by the way. read more

We stopped in for lunch today and unfortunately our experience was pretty close to awful. Not sure if our server was new, but it was pretty painful to deal with. We each ordered sandwiches and our daughter had pancakes. Luckily for us we ordered lunch items which come with soup, although my husband was given the wrong type of soup. Our actual meals took about 40 minutes to arrive after that. Other tables were served well before us and we eventually started wondering if our server even put in our sandwich orders. Our server finally came by to tell us that they are short staffed, still no idea when food was to come. I wish I could say I enjoyed my sandwich, but it was the worst reuben I've ever had. The corned beef was dry...and had a weird sweet taste to it. The kraut was covered in grease as if it was all cooked in the same pan as something completely different and was not cleaned.
