Unwelcoming My family has been here a few times and never had a bad experience. it's usually completely empty when we go. The food is unseasoned but normally go to get the Philly eggrolls. There was no melanin when we walked in. The hostess and waitress tried to sit us next to the restroom despite a few other tables being available so we asked to be seated somewhere else. Customers and employees looked as if they had never seen a black person there. The waitress was noticeably nicer and more attentive to the other tables around us. This is a popular place in the neighborhood. They have live music Saturday nights and great gluten free options. Our favorites are the chips and the homemade dips, the homemade pickles that come with most sandwiches and the yummy fries. We usually have a turkey burger or a chicken sandwich which you cannot go wrong with. Mainly, I just love the staff, we had a bit of a mix up with our order and our waitress was attentive, apologetic and fixed everything promptly. This was my 2nd visit to this establishment. Unfortunately it was nothing like the first. Our waitress skipped several steps of service and never stepped it up. I asked for a draft and rcvd a bottle with no glass. All of our entrees came out separately and so did our desert. Not once did she table touch we kept having to flag her down. It was a snow day and my wife and I wanted to try someplace new and having taken a look at Yelp reviews decided to give EAT Gastro pub a try. There's plenty of parking in the rear and although unsure about the menu we decided to proceed with lunch. Upon entering we should have looked more closely at the interior's decoration for once we sat down and looked around it was truly unpleasing and cold. Nonetheless, we proceed with lunch - my wife ordering the salmon crab sandwich and I ordered the chicken sandwich. The salmon was mushy and had no taste and the chicken was a grilled processed patty of chicken smothered in some spicy sauce. It was so disappointing. We got lucky and didn't have to wait to be seated. I looked through the menu and checked out photos ahead of time and had an idea of what I wanted to try. I also called ahead to find out their parking situation which the girl on the phone was very helpful informing me parking in the back next to Modells. They have very cute decor and I love the mason jars for drinks. Great selection of beers and the waitresses were nice. Wow! I was told about this restaurant by a friend. She recommended a few things and I have it a try. My 5 y/o son came with me. We started with the biggest pretzel I have ever seen! It came with a cheese fondue dipping sauce and mustard. It was delicious and bigger than my head. I had their 50/50 burger with is 1/2 beef and 1/2 ground bacon. It had a slice of cheddar cheese and was fantastic. My son had the mac and cheese which was one of the better ones I have had. Definitely house made. I hate going to a restaurant and getting Kraft. We ended with banana bread brule. Dense banana bread, brûléed around it's entirety, served with a caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Wow! I got a spoonful or two before my son devoured it. Came here for brunch for the first time. It's a cool set up! Brunch deal is pay for your meal and can add $10 for unlimited drinks (as long as you still have some food on your plate!) In need of a great Happy Hour and looking up on beer menus that Goose Island Sofie, a beer that my partner in crime for the evening (Steph M) tried elsewhere and really enjoyed, we decided to check out Eat Gastropub! We arrived early - Steph earlier than me who was already half way through a beautiful golden straw colored Sofie, we take up space at the bar close to the dining room. I was surprised the space is larger than I imagined. Ample parking in back. The happy hour specials were a good deal and since they have many great craft beers on tap so I decide on a half price flight. The food choices for happy hour are somewhat limited but has some good items that you probably want to drink with a good craft brew. We get an order of some outrageous Buffacue wings and although I am not a huge wing fan these were excellent versions, with plenty of sweet and spicy BBQ sauce, a crispy coating with tender chicken inside along with perfect blue cheese dipping sauce. I truly enjoyed these. I also suggest ordering a large pretzel, which was good for soaking up all that beer we were drinking. We ate this too slow and the salt absorbed moisture in the air and made our pretzel a bit wet - still tasted good though. It was a great happy hour - the place wasn't too packed on a Tuesday so it allowed for us to have a nice leisurely conversation and to relax for a while. After reading the menu I laughed a bit about the writing under the menu "Health and nutrition are of extreme importance!" - I doubt anyone would find the majority of the items here particularly healthy, but I can attest that they pump out quality tasty food, but damn, those delicious beers tho... read more

Back again for round two at EGP, and what can I say? I'm still blown away by this place. After going with my sis and buddy the first time, I took my girlfriend here (she was dying to try the edamame hummus) for a belated birthday dinner this past Monday night. What was great about coming this time was having the opportunity to sit outside. EGP has a large outdoor area with some building shade spots as well as umbrella tables on more of a patio surface. That's where we dined, and oh did we dine. To begin, I grabbed a drink from their awesome craft beer menu (El Sully) and she had a cider (McKenzie's). We then went with the chips n dip which was better the second time around as there were a mixture of chips (what looked like a sweet potato addition) and an inclusion (RIP blue cheese) of a new dip: creamy corn salsa, which was amazing (this coming from two people not big on the yellow plant). The other three dips did what they're meant to do and rounded out this awesome app. Main meal was the crispy chicken sandwich for her (she loved it) and the eat burger for yours truly. It was delicious in juicy, meaty flavor and though rich via bacon jam and cheese fondue, the accompaniment of creamy coleslaw and tangy pickles broke up the palate nicely (the fries rocked my socks as well). Service was spot on which brought the meal together wonderfully. Overall, Eat Gastropub brought some new facets into an eating experience I was already impressed with and I'm about to head off to bed, ready to dream about my next meal here. read more

Our second visit was a quiet Wednesday night and our service was lacking. The drinks are excellent. I got the same drink both visits, their take on a Moscow mule. The first visit it came in a copper mug but the second it came in a regular stemless wine glass. It was excellent both times. For our appetizers we had the chips and dip and the philly cheesesteak eggrolls. I devoured my portion of each. The eggrolls were delicious but the chips and dips were phenomenal. The edamame hummus was a standout and their fresh chips were amazing. I then had their namesake burger. The burger was excellent though a little dry. I asked for it rare but it came to me more medium. It was still delicious but I wish it was cooked to my liking. My husband was very pleased with his meal as well. The egg roll appetizers are a favorite and you can't go wrong with the giant pretzel. I love the 50/50 burger half bacon half ground beef. The island Park location is especially great during Covid with a lot of outdoor seating options. Masks are worn by all employees and strictly enforced when walking around the common areas. You might want to reserve an outdoor table on the weekends it can get busy. Also there's always take out and delivery options. We did the bottomless mimosas which are $10 (A STEAL) and they're interchangeable with other bottomless drinks they offer. 100% recommend the mule mimosas.
