the food and drinks are decent. they definitely give you enough chips with your queso! and the tacos are great!! i just have an issue with amount of fish on the tacos.. there were 3 little strips pf fish.. for $5... in this economy, that's a little steep. the brussel sprout tacos were the star of the show! the service was a lil topsy-turvy. the bartender started of as an asshole. now, she may have been having a rough day.. idk, i always show up with a warm hello and a dash of optimism when i'm checking out a new spot. i am willing to give it another shot because people rave about it, so naturally i would like to see what they see. the place has a clean-divey vibe that i can get into. a chill ambiance that feels like a bar in austin. if you visit, i hope that you have a great experience! bonné santé

Love going to this neighborhood gem on a Wed for their Mexican martini special! Went just yesterday and was pleasantly surprised that they have spooky decorations up. They've got a nice upstairs with rooftop seating. Not too crazy about their food, but that's bc I'm not a fan of spicy. I always have a good time when I come here.

There's a vibe - it's just not our vibe Parking: There is a parking lot in the back of the building. It's a bit small for east end lots but we had no problem getting a spot. That being said, it may be hard to park if it's busier. There is a back entrance from the parking lot which is very convenient! Seating: There's indoor and bar seating. The first floor is a bit dim but in a bar vibe kind of way. We preferred rooftop seating upstairs. I think they may have an elevator that goes up which is great (we took the stairs though). Upstairs seating is mostly picnic tables. They also had heaters up there. Drinks/food: We just had a beer and cider so the drinks were about the same as everywhere to us. We also had the empanadas and quesadilla... They were not great... The flavors were off and there was a lot of seasoning on top that did not add to the flavor palate. Service: The service was fine. You had to order downstairs at the bar before going upstairs. Overall a fine experience. Nothing to really make us come back.

Love my neighborhood Eight Row Flint. It's not nearly as beautiful as the previous bar (RIP Nightshift), but it's grown on us, and it's now our go-to spot for a quick dinner or happy hour. Chips and queso are a must; the campechana, chicken pozole, and the salsa macha wings also deserve a nod. I can't speak on any of the red meat, but the beau is a fan of their burger (and the fries all McDonald's-esque) and the Thursday steak night. Most of the menu items have meat, cheese, or is fried (I wish they kept the quail eggs on the revamped menu). For drinks, Eight Row Flint is best known for the their whiskey and bourbon selection, along with their frozen bevs - the frozen marg, the rum-based "pain killer," and frozen G&T. Try all three with their frozen flight. Happy hour is Mon-Fri2-6pm with discounts on select food and bevs. They do have a rooftop patio, but unfortch there's nothing too spectacular about it due to the nature of the layout. It's not very big, no grand views, not much space for plants to make it a lil' oasis. But who knows - time will only tell if it's expanded (if possible) or if they add any sort of additional outside seating.

Causal chill spot to grab a drink with friends especially during Happy Hour. A major plus is that HH starts at 2pm which is a huge thank you because us mom's of littles hardly get to enjoy HH because it usually starts when we have to pick up our kids and do night time routine. Plenty of seating inside: bar area, long high top community table, all along the walls of the place with bench seating, and patio seating upstairs (although not ideal in Houston heat). My friend walked up there to check out the patio and lordy before we even got to the top we could already feel the heat as we were going up the stairs. It is a nice set up upstairs but prepare to have a sweat fest. HH menu does include drinks and food and I ordered off the HH and regular menu. Frozen flights was delicious especially if you can't decide on which frozen drink to order then get the flight. I also partaked in the carajilllo and that was a good finish to HH. Delicious and I do recommend to have as your last drink especially if you are a mom like me and need to get back to your kids. Hahahaha Brussel sprout taco was not on the menu but it was delicious and it was small. You order per taco, so if you are starving then be sure to order more food or more than 2 tacos. On the HH menu I had the crab empanadas which were good and the hot sauce had a good kick which I liked. The sauce comes on the side. It wasn't wowing so not sure if I would order it again. The elote ribs were delicious! I tasted some off my friends plate and I had to have some to myself! There is a designated parking spot behind eight row but it's very very small. So if you don't score a spot there then street parking is your next best bet. I would like to see that area provide more parking or maybe even a parking garage.

Is it even a girls night without tequila?! Or is that just me?! Anyways, my point is, this spot is on point. I cannot tell you how it fares on the weekends when there's likely a larger crowd, but I can say that this was an excellent spot to have a few (expensive but complex) cocktails, some incredibly thoughtful small dishes and a few laughs with a good friend on a week night! Even on a Wednesday, I can see how parking can be a challenge when this place is packed, but nevertheless I'm super thankful it's 100% free (unlike downtown). Other than that, I learned: * If the tables don't say "reserved" you can sit there and they'll tend to you table side, no need to wait to be seated. Alternatively, you can sit at the bar. *The queso is a great start to a meal :) *The Chispa Margarita is a great (strong) opener, the Carajillo is a strong closer, and you can't go wrong with the seafood campechana, and barbacoa beef cheek tacos. I'll be back for the crispy Brussels sprout tacos!

Eight Row Flint is the best bar in EaDo, Houston, offering the perfect mix of great drinks, food, and music. Known for its outstanding whiskey, cocktails, and craft beer, it's a place that always delivers. The kitchen serves up delicious tacos and bites that pair perfectly with any pour. Add in good music by DJ Waldorules, DJ Skrechy Skrach, DJ G Funk, and DJ Squincy Jones, and the vibe is unmatched. Eight Row Flint is EaDo's go-to nightlife destination.

Enjoyed a couple tacos that were delicious. Also had a few drinks, the OG ranch water being my favorite. Service was great and the views on the patio were nice.

Although a little on the pricier side, Eight Row Flint is a great addition to EaDo with unique spins on drinks that vary in success. I sampled a friend's Casa Piedra Sour, which was a great balance of smoky and lemon. Think mezcal but with a twist. The OG ranchwater, on the other hand, just tasted like a watered down mezcal with some lime notes. No grapefruit flavor made it through that well. My frozen flight was delicious and the campari floater on the frozen gin and tonic was actually quite good from a friend's. My one critique is that the frozen drinks melt quickly, and leave a frozen-watery mix that isn't that good. So... Drink your frozen drinks quickly. The ring toss ($5) is a really fun bar game where you can try to land a ring on a bottle for a shot or get a consolatory High Life. I love that they're willing to have a game like that to experiment with different liquors. Overall an awesome place to hang out with friends and try some unique cocktails. Great addition to EaDo with a strong predecessor to live up to.

Food. Check! Service. Check!! Ambiance Check!!! The hottest new place in the Eastend of DT HOU. Chef Alli outdoes herself with amazing and delicious Snacks & More, Tacos, Mas items on the menu and of course paying homage to a fabulous Lady with her Milk & Cookies Dessert! They have a full bar to order from, and they have a plethora of cocktails to choose what your heart desires. Do yourself a favor, and don't miss out on these Speciality Cocktails or Carbonated Cocktails. Parking can be an issue so either Lyft it, or find off street parking. It's also right off the Coffee Plant/Second Ward rail stop (Green Line).

This is the perfect neighborhood spot for happy hour. You can catch it all day Monday-Friday 2-6pm (drink & food specials). Definitely a relaxed spot and pretty good if you have a larger group as well. Enjoyed the frozen drinks + chill vibes + good eats. deffff get the crab rangoon empanadas, guacamole and pain killer frozen! we sat at the bar (which we normally love to do) and the service was good! They have a patio upstairs which is nice if you want a bit of fresh air.

I'mThis was my second time here but first time eating. Both times I've come I was able to find street parking right out front. I imagine I've just gotten lucky as both visits were off peek hours. It was nice to sit on the roof deck and have a view of downtown. Be mindful though that you need to order at the bar so you will bring your own drinks up with you and your food will arrive shortly after. The menu is eclectic, especially for bar food, which I was very excited about. I was here with a group of people and we just ordered a bit of a buffet of things to try. While the all were very picturesque, most tasted rather average. Starting with the chicharrons, they were as expected and were served with a bottle of hot sauce to use as your discretion. The first batch were room temperature, but the second batch we had were actually warm. The chips and queso were good, with thicker pita style chips and a rather unique white queso flavor. The wings had a good flavor as well. I was excited for my octopus taco, but it left me a bit disappointed in both size and flavor. I was also excited to try the Oaxaca Fried Quesadilla, which looks like an oversized empanada, and was also rather bland. I also got to try the Elote Ribs, which were alright, but I think I prefer a more traditional style. Overall the food was average to good, but for the price and the fact that I'm ordering at the bar, I expected a bit more.

I loooove this place! The heights location use to be my go to so I wanted to check the EaDo location out and wow. The service was spectacular...so attentive and helpful. I had the elote ribs and they were so yummy! Also had the brussel sprouts tacos super good. My ranch water was well done. The place is very spacious with an outdoor area upstairs. The parking is as good as its gonna get in houston lol. Can't wait to visit again.

Inside it is a one room eatery with counter service. My first visit was to try the Birria Burrito for $16 with the meal delivered about 10 minutes later. It consisted of their Birria meat cooked for 4 hours mixed with chorizo, cheese, rice, beans and sour cream all wrapped in a large flour tortilla seasoned with their special red colored seasoning. With the meal came a cup of consomne'. Guy Fieri would say, Welcome to Flavortown! It was delicious. The Birria beef was so tender and the flavored flour tortilla with that proprietary red seasoning they use was perfect. It was a very filling meal and well worth the price. So much so, I thought about it the next day. Another visit was to try one of their specialities, the Quesabirria for $14. This meal consisted of 3 grilled and crispy corn tortillas seasoned again with their special red colored magic dust. The tortillas had the delicious Birria meat and cheese inside and I again loved them. The tortillas are only slightly crispy and the meat, cheese and tortillas memorable. This meal also came with a cup of consommé for dipping. Another nice thing about eating here is the customer service. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The guy bussing the tables acted more like the owner than an employee with his helpfulness and the actual manager came out to check on us. Impressive for a counter service restaurant. Tacos Dona Lena deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants of its kind. Incredible food and employees all at very reasonable prices. When I think of tacos and burritos, this place is what comes to mind!

Since it was my first time here, I ended up ordering 1 chorizo and 1 asada taco, churros, limon aguas, and my friend got the asada taco as well and a hortchata! Since it was super busy (especially on saturday night) it was about a 30 minute wait foe our food but it was well worth it! They hand out free chicharrones and they were super crunchy and a nice snack while we waited for our food. The limon aguas was super refreshing especially in the summer heat and the horchata was really good! We sat at the counter top that overlooks the kitchen. I love that the open kitchen concept so you can see them making your food right in front of you! Everything smelled so good so I was excited for my food. I love that they give radishes, cucumbers, and plenty of limes on the side. I definitely love all of the toppings and the more the better! I tried all of the salsas and the salsa de chile de arbol was by far my favorite! super spicy but had so much flavor. The chorizo was good but a little dry for my liking. I did just want to try it so I can try more than one flavor but I think I would get it again as a breakfast taco with egg instead. The asada was my favorite of the two so much flavor and plenty of meat! I was content with these 2 tacos but I could have definitely eaten more if we didn't order churros as well! The churros came with classic condensed milk and dulce de leche which is just carmelized condensed milk. The churros were crunchy and warm on the outside and had a chewy texture like mochi on the inside! Super yummy and not too sweet! I liked both sauces and would definitely get this again. Overall, I had a great experience and I will be craving the tacos until the next time I can come back! I can't wait to try a lot of their other menu items as well. Definitely recommend!
