I was coming from San Diego and was excited to try their Strawberry Marble drink. The lady said they are under new management so they do not serve that anymore. I wish this business deleted the images because it's misleading. I had to pick another drink since Strawberry Marble was discontinued. So I picked Strawberry Matcha with boba ($7.90 : Oatmilk ($0.80) + Boba ($0.60)). Unfortunately wasn't the best. 1/10. I hate complaining about my food but I couldn't even finish my drink so the lady was kind enough to make another drink for me . #40 on my milk/tea store adventures. I have a tea and milk tea addiction, so when the pandemic first hit and WFH started, I suddenly had all this free time with very little to do, at least in the beginning. So I decided to go on a Yelp adventure and explore all the bubble tea stores I hadn't tried within an acceptable distance from home. I can't believe I've now checked out forty stores I never had before (not including coffee shops). Luckily, Eightfold made for the perfect addition to my tea store chronicles. 1. Deep Matcha- One of the most aesthetically pleasing matcha drinks I've ever seen; it's what drew me here. It's a matcha latte with matcha pudding, boba, and a heavy dose of matcha syrup along the sides of the cup. If you're a matcha lover like me, then this one is a must. I ordered it at full sweetness and without boba, as I'm not really a toppings fan (other than cheese foam). I did leave the matcha pudding in though as I thought it would be interesting to try at least once. The matcha itself was a little on the bitter side but it wasn't overwhelmingly so, and after mixing the drink with the matcha syrup, the Deep Matcha had an overall creamy and slightly bold taste. The matcha pudding was sweet and added additional nuances to the drink. Overall, it tasted a bit more like a sweet milk tea with matcha than a high grade/strong matcha drink, but it was still really good nonetheless. 2. Lavender Honey milk tea- I love lavender teas/milk teas so I was excited to try this one. The drink was decent, but it definitely wasn't one of the better lavender tea/milk teas I've had. To be honest, it tasted a little too much of milk and sugar and didn't have enough of that distinct lavender taste. 3. Black Sugar milk tea- Enjoyable for those who have sweet tooths like me. Overkill for those who don't. 4. Earl Grey Crema- Another winner! The cheese foam was delicious, with that spot-on creamy texture and sweet & salty taste. The earl grey itself was also really good, so the combination was perfect. 5. Earl Grey milk tea- also pretty good. 6. Rose milk tea- Hard pass. Tasted way too strongly of artificial rose syrup and sweetener. Overall, Eightfold is definitely worth checking out. read more

Been coming here for several years now, but recently, they changed management. The menu is slightly different, but drinks are still pretty decent. I normally get their Signature Milk Tea, and it's a bit too sweet (75%), could totally get 50%. The milk has a very strong floral taste. Fast service, and perhaps one of the best looking drinks out there, which if this were a beauty contest, Eightfold would be an easy 5/5. While the drinks look fantastic, the taste was alright-above average- but I can think of other boba shops that are better value for what you pay. That being said, I still liked it overall. Located with a sign that bore the resemblance of the old TD Ameritrade logo, Eightfold is another boba tea shoppe tucked away near Harbor and Baker. The cashier was knowledgeable about the menu, and gave recommendations on the sweetness level for each drink that I got which was good since I didn't want a drink too overly plain nor too sweet. Two drinks for this place: Deep Matcha: 4/5 Matcha Milk (Non-tea) that needs a good mixing before you drink. Quite powdery/grainy if you don't mix on the first sip, but after a good mixing it was quite enjoyable. I recommend getting it with full sweetness as the matcha is pretty bitter here. It's bitter, but not overpowering, while the matcha pudding was bold and boba was soft and delicious. This drink looks even BETTER in person, so aesthetics for this drink is a shining factor here. Eightfold Signature: 3.5/5 Includes Black tea with cheese foam, and to be honest I think the drink is alright. The cheese foam was good, had a creamy texture that sits well on your tongue, but the drink was light on the tea than I'd like it. Milk taste is quite strong, and to be frank I think it's too strong. Definitely a sweet tooth drink, and not my kind of drink IMO. Other things to note is that the drinks were out really quick, we are talking like 2-3 minutes, as well as a stamp card that is given at this place if you want to collect 10 stamps fora free drink. Pricing is at the premium drink levels of other boba shops, but personally I think it's a little short of that expectation tbh. It met my expectations! I saw this boba place pop up on my Yelp searches several times and decided to finally give it a try while I was in the area. I ordered a Black Sugar Milk Tea with Matcha Pudding (free topping with Yelp check in). I got it 75% sweet and less ice. The drink had a great tea taste; not too strong, not too subtle. I was really surprised with this boba shop! It's super cozy and cute for small groups because they offer some board games. Poor guy behind the counter was working by himself and was making 15+ drinks at a time. He was really kind and made the drinks as fast as possible. I was able to sample their Eightfold Signature (earl grey milk tea), and upon tasting it, I immediately ordered the drink. They add JUST ENOUGH sugar so that it doesn't overpower the drink's natural tea flavor. I usually like sweeter milk teas, but it was perfect. My friend got the double green (honeydew matcha), and she absolutely loved it! Such a cute little boba shop next to Chronic Tacos and across Panera. I really wanted to try the milk drinks but those are made with 2% milk. The other drinks can be substituted with soy milk so it's great that they mentioned that. I ended up getting a deep matcha and I can see why everyone recommends it! I actually just looked at my drink which is also made with fresh milk but I'm not sure if it can be substituted with soy milk. The drink has such a great matcha taste and is not too sweet even with 100% sugar. My boyfriend got the 4 Noble Fruits green tea which was incredibly refreshing and also not too sweet. A really good boba shop that apparently just revamped their menu! Their taro blended was honestly super super good, their cheese foam is actually very good. My girlfriend got an oolong milk tea w/ cheese foam & it was good, however it wasn't sweet enough. When I tried it, it tasted like something that I would get (I am the type to get 0 - 25% sweet). Their macarons are super good, definitely get the sesame macaron, very good. The Oreo macaron was also very good. Service was super nice. It's perfect for the summer with a few snack items. Here's what we ordered, 1. 4 noble fruit tea: my favorite! the tea tastes very good and amazing because it has a combination of different fruits, such as watermelon, passion, lychee and orange. Super refreshing! 2. Summer Lojito - which has passion, mango and mint leave.- I feel like it's more on the carbonated side, make sure you stir well so you can taste all The flavors together 3. While I really appreciate that the cost automatically comes with the boba, pudding, and matcha syrup, I feel like those extra toppings don't really contribute to the matcha's actual fragrance if you really pay attention to it. I'm not sure what grade of matcha they use but I'd prefer a more refined matcha taste, less bitterness. It was still enjoyable, but if I had to be really picky, your money is definitely better spent at Omomo. However, I will add that I did like their boba consistency. It was a nice chewiness and consistent throughout the drink. If you like your boba to be really soft like how it is at Cha for Tea, this is going to have a bit more chew. -Brown Honey Fresh Milk: Definitely strong milk taste here if that's what you're into. I don't think it's as sweet as other Brown Sugar drinks you would get at Tiger Sugar or The Alley so it wasn't bad. Boba consistency was the same here as well. The Shop and Parking: This place is located towards the side entrance of the plaza leading towards Panera and Target. There's a lot of parking around, although it does get busy with people. The shop itself is small and has nice plants/wood decor. There were about two tables pre-covid but at the moment it's mainly just ordering for to-go. This tea shop is conveniently located in the same shopping center as Target. It's on the not busy Baker side of the center so parking is easy. The interior is very bright and pretty and there are a few tables for two to sit at. It's not super crowded so it's a great place to meet up to chat with a friend - which is what I did. The reason why 4 stars instead of 5 is I always get my milk teas cold but zero ice and normally they always come cold but no ice BUT here they served me my drink kind of warm still and that did not taste good to me I wanted it cold, not warm. It was my first time going here because we were out grocery shopping and it was in the same shopping center. The place looks nice and clean and they have a good selection of flavors. The milk teas come with boba already. But if you choose something else make sure to check in to get a topping for free. I got the oolong milk tea and it was too sweet for oolong. Eightfold Tea has many different styles of drinks, but in overall quality I don't think it compares to other tea places in the area (my favorite is currently Sunright Tea Studio in Highland Plaza). Eightfold Tea is currently offering a free topping with Yelp Check In. This 3-star review is based on the drink I got, and it was not a drink unique to Eightfold, so perhaps if you enjoy their other unique drinks then it is worth frequenting this business. I selected the Jasmine Green Milk Tea with Lychee Jelly, no ice and 25% sweetness. The jasmine tea was slightly overstepped, the tannins from the tea being apparent while drinking. While ordering I was told that with no ice the drink would not be filled up to the top. I asked for that space to be filled with additional tea and was accommodated in that request. The 25% sweetness level was appropriate when combined with lychee jelly. I also sampled the Signature milk tea, to see what is so signature about it, and the drink is already mixed and quite sweet (I assume 100% based on the 25% level I had). There is a single size offered, but it's closer to a Large at other places and that is my go-to size anyway. So if you want a simple tea drink then Eightfold is not my recommendation, and I may return to try some unique menu items. read more

Boba in Costa Mesa... My friend, (who shall remain nameless), only wants to go to establishments with 4.5 stars or higher... really? Haha! So, he chose Eightfold over other places... Besides being close to where we met for breakfast, Eightfold had free parking. However, the air conditioning wasn't working. On the plus side, the interior was nicely decorated and the restroom was pleasant, convenient, and clean. I ordered the tea named "4 Noble Fruits". My cup contained sliced lime, orange, and lemon. It also had a strawberry and a chunk of watermelon. I liked the true flavor of green tea. It was a bit bitter with the fruity essence to soften it. This was a refreshing beverage on a hot, 88 degree, Orange County day! I wouldn't mind returning because the staff were kind, patient, and helpful! read more

Salted Cheese Foam Tea reaches Central OC, finally! Eightfold has jumped into Orange County before some of the other salted cheese foam tea chains and they do some great drinks. I came on a Sunday afternoon a couple of weeks after they opened and ordered an Oolong Tea with Salted Cheese Foam. "Sorry, we currently do not have any Oolong tea in stock." I changed my order to Earl Grey Tea with Salted Cheese Foam. Earl Grey Tea with Salted Cheese Foam - Their earl grey tea was brewed strong enough to withstand the creamy onslaught of the salted cheese foam. Salted cheese foam might sound gross to half of you out there, but it's really just a richer, denser cream that carries some saltiness. If you like something like 7 Leaves sea salt cream, salted cheese foam is like that but bolder and saltier. If you've ever had drinks from Happy Lemon, Eightfold's cheese foam is very similar to that. This drink was just what I was hoping for. The tea was bold, the cheese cream was bold. There was just the right amount of both. Eightfold is in the Target/Sprouts center on Harbor Blvd. Can they make a great Oolong Milk Tea? I'm still looking for somewhere in Orange County that can do this right so I'll be back to try Eightfold's version, that is, if they ever get in their shipment of oolong tea leaves. read more
