The Asiago, blueberry, garlic and everything went first. The cream cheese: plain and strawberry are good go tos. Can't go wrong with Asiago or blueberry, ever. The garlic is okay. Plain is standard. overall, a complete disappointment. I came in being one of only three other people in the shop with the other people already having their coffee and breakfast at 8:10 AM. so why were they rushing me while I was ordering? The item I wanted was no longer on the menu so I had to decide for something else and I felt like they were in a hurry and it was very uncomfortable. And then it's just such a mess with the ordering system when I go to the front they say no after I've been waiting in line for five minutes to move over to the next lady, but they don't have any signs out for this and I just wasted five minutes of my life standing in the wrong line And then, my hope to eat at the restaurant was ruined by the fact that even though it's only 810 in the morning that every single table in here is dirty. Who's cleaning? There's no customers there's no reason it should look like this. Today's lunch consisted of a Texas Brisket Bagel and a Large Blackberry Lemonade. Well, I have ordered this brisket bagel before and was actually looking forward to eating. When it arrived it was a different story. I thought someone had handed me the wrong sandwich because to me it looked like a sausage and egg. When I dissected the sand which what I found on the inside would have shocked you, There was barely any brisket , it was dry, tasteless, the cheese seem like it had been nuked to death. The Jalapeño Cheese Bagel was no where to be found, I don't know what subpar bagel they served this barely there brisket on. I started to call the store with my valid concerns because at this point I felt there wasn't any care put into this sandwich , in fact I was made some substitute make it look good and take this kinda sandwich. This is the most inconsistent location. Sometimes it's great either way friendly staff, other times it seems you're a bother by ordering food. We ordered an All Nighter bagel with a hash brown. The sandwich was not cut in half, cold, and missing the sauce that makes it not just an egg, cheese, and bacon sandwich. We'll try the Mercury Road location next time. The customer service is usually excellent. Today was an epic fail the employee was Caucasian with red hair that had blonde streaks. Bacon was put on my sandwich by a new employee. When I asked for a manager she came over I explained what happened and she said very angrily can't I just take it off? I said no I don't eat pork and this sandwich does not come with bacon anyway. Hmmm. No Einsteins downriver so this place was it. 20 minutes later i get my 13 bagels and 2 shmears. I'm used to my regular place on Mack in Grosse Pointe Woods, just 5 minutes away from my previous house (sold it).. So here is a pic of the bagels. Doesn't look like a bagel! I frequent Einsteins as it's my Goto for on the go breakfast. While out making errands I stopped at the Dearborn location. I had never been to this particular one before. The service stood out. Everyone was extremely kind and welcoming. They greeted their locals by name and gave everyone kind words. The manager was present and was also very kind. There was about 8 or 9 persons ahead of me but they moved the line very quick. Genuine kindness in customer service is rare these days. I love Einstein Bagels. I think it's written into my genetic code that I must have at least one Einstein bagel a week to thrive. I come here all the time (as evidenced by my check-ins) and usually get great service. Sometimes it's shoddy but they recently hired a lot of new workers, so I've given them some slack to get everyone up to speed. Einstein's bagels are great! They have a couple dozen to choose from. My favorites are Asiago cheese, honey whole wheat and potato. Jacob goes for pumpernickel or six cheese. If you've never been, it can be expensive, especially if you're used to cheap shitty bagels at other places. You pay more but you're getting a much better product. They use premium whipped cream cheeses (in all different levels of fat; their strawberry is my favorite and it's 25% reduced) and also offer peanut butter, hummus, butter and preserves as spreads as well. If you like saving money, join their e-club. I usually get 2-3 coupons a month with good expiration dates for free bagel+cream cheese when you buy a drink, BOGO lunch sandwiches, free drink with bagel purchase and 25% off your entire purchase (including bagged coffee, if that's your thing). They have ample seats, are definitely kid-friendly and offer tons of menu items to please all sorts of people. If you're vegetarian, the Veg-Out sandwich is a great sandwich my friends always order. They even have pizza bagels. I hardly order them because they're kind of expensive, but I can say they're really delicious and filling. Einstein's also have a pretty extensive coffee drink menu. Jacob loves their specialty coffee like Autumn Roast and Winter Blend, which unfortunately are limited to a couple months a year. He also enjoys Neighborhood Blend, their take on "regular coffee". But Einstein's doesn't do anything "regular", they're all about upping the ante when it comes to premium bagels and coffee. read more

Early in the morning, this bagel shop finds themselves busy with constant customers in a rush out the door soon after. It's pretty quiet still, even with how hectic it can get. The customer service does need a lot of improvement to achieve maximum guest satisfaction. The food also does need some improvement as the price does not compare if you're food isn't up to par. Great bagels, great cream cheese (shmear) options, great coffee. Consistency is what brings it down two stars. I'm a huge fan of their asiago, potato, and pumpernickel bagels. As for shmear, I tend to stick with garden veggie or onion and chive. Their coffee is great, and you can get a little discount if you bring your own mug to refill, which is nice. Consistency seems to be their downfall, though. Sometimes the bagels are soft and delightfully doughy. But often times they're made from old dough and are hard, dense, too small, etc. Pro Tip: if the bagel has bubbles all over it, it's old dough; avoid. Bagel selection is hit or miss too. Ok, I understand that you can't always predict how many people will come in, and you don't want to be stuck with two hundred bagels at the end of the day. But we really only go on weekends around 10am, and very often they'll be out of half their bagel flavors. If you're out of bagels by 930 every day, then just plan to make more bagels! Lastly, service and bagel preparation can go either way. I've had expertly toasted and shmeared bagels from a smiling face one week, followed by a bagel the next week (prepared by the same person, cold and moody) to come out with what seemed to be the amount of cream cheese that was left on the knife from the last bagel they made, and "toasted" so quickly it didn't even get a chance to warm up. I far prefer them to Panera's bagels, which is why we gamble and come here every so often. And to be fair, the bagels are still half decent even on the worst days. Food and drink service is extremely slow, when I ask if they're short staffed the employee rudely responds with no but clearly there are only two ppl working making drinks, cashing out, and making the bagels. By me asking if they're short staffed I am being empathetic and see the struggle. It is almost always a guaranteed 20-30 minutes wait no matter what time I go. There is no need to be rude. It doesn't matter who I encounter at this location they all hate their job and it is obvious. A photo of a caramel shake on the wall features whipped cream topping and when I asked for it on top of my drink after it was made she rudely replied, "you should have asked for that because that's an extra charge." "That's fine," I replied but how would I know to ask for it if that's how it's advertised in photos. I frequent this location often because I live close and it is convenient. The staff need better training. The bagels are fresh but the staff is definitely a miss. At one point while I was ordering the lady at the register actually walked away from me mid sentence and I had to stop ordering because I was unsure what was going on. I've been here a few times since moving to the area, and inconsistent is the best way to describe this place. I have been here and had good food and a good experience, and I've been here and gotten a moldy fruit cup with a matching annoyed response from the cashier I informed it to. That was probably my worst experience to date. That put a really bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended), but the Nova Lox sandwich is so good it keeps me coming back! The bagels here are good, and so is the coffee. It's a bagel place, nothing groundbreaking is really expected. Staff is great, whoever their manager is (I believe his name is Dave) he is fantastic. I've personally watched him go out of his way multiple times to help customers including myself. For example last week a customer was looking for a flavor shot in the self service area, the manager realized he wanted something that wasn't out there and went out of his way to take care of his drink (without being asked). Stopped at Einstein Bagels for the first time to pick up lunch. Decided on a bagel sandwich with chicken salad. The bagel was one with "Everything". Quite tasty, liked the chicken salad it had cherries and almonds in it. Although it was good it was quite intimidating to eat. Had lettuce, tomato, and onion on it and needed a fork in order to eat it because it was breaking apart. Probably will go back and try a bagel sandwich of a different variety! I was on my way to a drama rehearsal and I hadn't had breakfast, so I stopped to get a bagel and a coffee. I hadn't been to an Einstein bagels in quite a few years, but the bright orange bagel sign caught my attention, so I followed my stomach and stopped. I'm a little ADD so I tend to feel pressured in places like this, Panera, etc., where you can't see what there is until you approach the cashier and you've got people waiting behind you. In Panera, for example, you've got several people staring at you while you study the menu, but here, There was one cashier and what seemed like an organized assembly line after that so I did not feel pressured. I simply told the person behind me to go ahead and order and I moved over to the side to study the bagel case. The Power Bagel caught my attention because of it's dark brown color and lots of yummy treats popping out of the edges. I was feeling slightly guilty just having bread so the word "protein" gave me the illusion that this bread was acceptable on my diet. Whether that's true or not, I don't know, but it was delicious! I had it toasted with cream cheese. Yum! I asked for a small coffee and the cashier kindly told me that there were several flavors to choose from at the end of the line. I got the buttery caramel which just sounded awesome to me, and it was not a sugar laden coffee. So I added my own cream and honey and enjoyed every sip! The place was conveniently located, clean and organized and the service was friendly and fast. This is actually my second visit. Located in an old art deco streamlined gas and auto repair station. During redevelopment, the upper frieze tiles were removed that exposed the old AAA approved stamp in big blue and white letters. That was about 1996. They've been open nearly 20 years. They kept the design intact and did a great adaptive reuse of the building. Nuff about that. I get an everything bagel with strawberry cream cheese or a cinnamon raisin toasted with some butter. Very windowy which I like. On a busy stretch of telegraph north of cherry hill. I went in this store this morning and the young kid at the register just stares at me and doesn't say a word....no greeting whatsoever I gave my order. He never said thank you or anything, just kind of tossed my change in my hand. This kid needs to learn customer service skills. He was tall and thin, and looked to be about 12. Usually, the employees are a little friendlier. The bagels are good...just need to train people better The manager is not that much better. One time I was in line about to pay, and a woman walks up to get a coffee. The manager took her money, which I thought was rather rude, considering I was already in line. I think her name is Kathy. Perfect for a quick bite on the weekend. I like that they list the calorie content of each item. I tried the green chile egg white breakfast. I like that the "schmears" are interchangeable with your breakfast sandwich. Honestly, a few members of the staff were not very pleasant. The first time I tried the place it took me a minute to choose from the menu since their selection is quite big. I felt like the person waiting on me was frustrated. Well, here we go again. I am finding myself having to write another review on this restaurant. For a while it seemed like this particular Einstein's was working on improving their service and order accuracy. That lasted maybe a few weeks after my previous review in January. I usually come here on Sunday's. Many times it is very busy, and sometimes there is no wait. My last 2 visits here were on a Sunday when I was the first person in line when I walked in. You place your order with them, they commit it to "memory". You pay for your order and hope they give you what you ordered. Good luck! I usually order the same thing, 3 bagel smears, Santa Fe sandwich, 2 eggs, with a different cream cheese than is standard. This seems to throw the whole process off. In the past I received almost every combination of sandwich, just not what I had ordered. In fact, I am very surprised when they actually do get my order correct. I always get take out, but do try to check my order before I leave. Sometimes, like last Sunday, I left on good faith without checking my order because I was in a hurry (the manager woman made my sandwich). Upon taking my order, she was dismissive of me, but kept asking me what I wanted while she was in the middle of making take out orders. It did not seem that she was really paying attention to what I was saying, so I started with the bagel smears. She kept asking about the sandwich I wanted. I waited until she had the bagels in the toaster, then i specified that I wanted the Santa Fe, 2 eggs, garden veggie cream cheese instead of jalapeno. I repeated this to her. Upon checkout, she came to the register and repeated the order to the newer employee manning the register so that she would charge me appropriately. They did. What I received: 3 smears as ordered, Santa Fe - 1 egg, no cream cheese (hmm). This happens almost each time I come here. I won't even mention how many times they have gotten the cream cheese wrong on the bagels - but maybe that will be in another review. Pro tip: When coming here (large order/special instruction): write your order down and give it to the person making it. Repeat the instructions to them. If ordering take out, ensure that you check your order before you leave the restaurant! Most likely your order will not be correct!! While it is a bit out of the way, I would avoid this Einstein's and go to the location on Mercury drive. Their staff seems to be able to get orders made properly - at least each time I have gone there. Einstein's suggestion: management here really needs to step up their game in training their employees. They also need to pay special attention to their order accuracy - especially the managers themselves. Committing orders to memory before making an order is definitely not working at this location. read more

I waited in line for about 5 minutes which wasnt a big deal. I kept seeing the women behind the counter touch her face with the bagel grabbing gloves on, but told myself to just ignore it. Eventually this lady PICKS her scalp with the gloved hand before grabbing a bagel. Her hair was also not tied back at all it was just matted in place behind her head. We got the heck out of there.
