I love Einstein Bagels. They are quick, they are inexpensive, and they taste so good. My favorite is the pretzel bagel but chances are they will be sold out which is always depressing. I haven't found another bagel shop yet that hd a good pretzel bagel. There's a place in San Marcos that has one but its coated with salt and not edible. This location is in a great area, right in the heart of a lot of great shops like barns and noble and target. It's practically on the corner of two main roads, next to gas stations and close to the freeway. The employees are very nice and the seating area is kept clean. They also offer free wifi if you enter your email. My only complaint is that they don't make enough pretzel bagels, they're obviously popular, make more!! read more

When you're craving a bagel... Only Einsteins Bros. Bagels will do. Not familiar w this area, I did an Internet search for Einsteins. This location did not disappoint. The bagel supply was full, bagel was made to perfection (just the right amount of crisp), and they didn't haggle me over more shmear. There was one employee specifically, Eduardo, and he worked his butt off and he had exceptional service with every customer. He always had a smile, greeted and made friendly gestures to all the customers, worked well with his coworkers, and he was attentive to waiting customers even when he was busy. Nice multi-tasking, buddy. That was unexpected ;) oh and he hand delivered each order. That's what I'm talking about! The restaurant itself was not so impressive. It's on the small side. The line gets crowded and doesn't have very thoughtful arrangement with respect to crowd control or flow of traffic. The tables needed to be bussed, most of them had crummies and trash on the ground. And the tables were poorly matched (as in, tables with different heights were paired together) and were uneven - I hate that. The drink counter was messy and needed to be restocked. I'll tell you what, if those girls worked half as hard as Eduardo with as much attention to detail then the restaurant would be on point. Another big ups: I saw another employee dive into cleaning the bathroom with some heavy supplies. That's a good sign. I appreciate a clean bathroom. All in all, this is a good place to go. Customer service and food quality is their strongest point. Other perks: easy access and ample parking. read more

We use the Einstein Bagel in Del Mar Highlands often and had an errand over in Encinitas and tried this location for the first time. Out of the bagel my fiance wanted, and the place had a less than sparkling appearance, unlike the Del Mar Highlands location. Outside, tables had leftover papers, cups and etc. To the extent that a person who worked next door at Wahoo Fish Tacos went and cleaned up the Einstein Bagel tables. He obviously was worried appearance could drive his customers away. read more

The food is good and our coffees were good, but I'm giving this place only one star because it is absolutely disgustingly dirty. EVERY table is dirty, eggs on the ground, newspapers strewn about, forks left on table. Come on, there's at LEAST four workers in here and not ONE is vaccuuming or cleaning tables. Kat is a rockstar! She's working three times harder and faster than the other five employees on her shift. The bagels are delicious, pricing is good but service lacks. The manager jumps in and helps get the orders done which I like to see but he also is chatting it up with the rest of the employees. I'm not against employees carrying on a conversation while they work but when the line is eight deep and your not moving as fast as you're talking it becomes very annoying. read more

The bagel was fine, but the place is DIRTY! Shockingly dirty. Floors, counters, drink area and most of the tables too. Behind the counter was bad. As I finished my lunch, someone was emptying the trash but didn't wipe down anything. What's more worrisome is that I sent the owner a message about it days ago to be polite to them and they never bothered to respond. Suggests to me that management simply doesn't care about the place. 20 mins and counting from the time I ordered my breakfast sandwich, still haven't received it and it wasn't busy at all when I ordered but now it is. I'm pretty sure they forgot my order and when I politely asked she said okay it's on it's way. I'm giving them One Star NOT because of their product but because you can't call them directly and place orders with them. You are forced to go through some company called EZ Cater and their customer service reps are not helpful at all. I was on the phone with them for 30 minutes trying to explain what I needed, then they put you on hold to call to store to make sure they can accommodate your order. While I waited 17 minutes for my Lox and bagle, instead of texting and checking email, something begged me to pay attention to the staff behind the counter preparing the food. I noticed the manager wrapped and packaged the food with only one hand gloved, her left hand. I suppose she thought handling the wrapping with her ungloved right hand wouldn't spread bacteria on anything she touched. You'd think wearing a mask might remind her...her gloved left hand was constantly touching her face but she probably didn't realize the potential health hazard of that either. Everyone wore a hat with the exception of one young man, who stood over the wrap counter flipping his head to shake back the long hair that dangled off the top of his head. What was falling out onto the counter I wondered and shuddered to imagine? Ever find a hair in food that's already in your mouth? Remember your reaction? When the manager finally handed me my wrapped sandwich, I asked her, "Did the young man forget his hat?" She said, "Oh I told him about that." At this point I had pretty much lost my appetite and when I opened my wrapped sandwich the lox was already off the bagle and the cream cheese was a mess. Well, when you order a lox and bagle sandwich to go you might expect it to be messy. BUT thinking about the manager wiping her face with her one gloved hand, then picking up my sandwich and folding the paper, that might have a hair on it, over my sandwich with her ungloved right hand, I threw the $7 sandwich in the trash can outside their door. I'm forced to give this establishment one star in order to write this review. Never, will I ever go back to this place. That 17 minutes of waiting and watching might have saved me from hugging a toilet for 24 hours or worse. I'm much more aware. read more

Einstein's bagels are always good. I just wish they had more bagels in stock at 8am on a Monday. They were out of 4-5 varieties. They were fast as far as service goes but the girl to take our order, Kat either needs to lay off the coffee or take a Xanax. You would think the building was on fire with how short she was with us and there wasn't a line behind us. She acted like it was so inconvenient to have to take an order between fixing her ponytail near all the bagels. We sat inside and were entertained by her interactions with other customers as well. We go to Einsteins twice per month (and before every early weekend baseball tournament) to pick up a few toasted bagels. Our family likes 5 different types of bagels, so the variety is worth the 2min drive and $6. I realize that the same quality is available at the supermarket in prepackaged form, but I do not have the energy to slice bagels or operate toaster ovens before 7am. In any case, today's events inspired me to sign up and post my first few reviews based on the poor quality of service. Maybe I'm too sensitive or just getting too old (or both), but the person taking my order this morning was disrespectful...no greeting, and was paying attention to conversation the other coworkers were having while I was ordering. She made me repeat the order a few times only after she heard the rest of the story her coworker was telling. After which she finally entered the information. Advice: Look at the customer when they order. At least "pretend" you are interested. I moved to the register and payed for my order and noticed she charged me for coffee. I said, "I didn't refill my cup, I just brought it in to drink" (out of habit I use my Einsteins travel cup). I didn't get a "sorry, I'll take that off", I got a scowl followed by silently processing the refund. I guess I should have said, "I'm sorry, don't mean to put you out, but can you find it in your heart to spend 12 seconds refunding the $1.10 you accidentally charged me... If you have the time of course." Meanwhile another customer was being told by employee #3 that his sandwich was made the way he ordered it. "Sir, you said no bacon so I took it off. I'll make it all over again Sir, but that's not what you said!" Again, how about, "sorry, I'll take care of that" rather than an accusatory statement? The staff this AM may be getting too comfortable with the patrons. Is good customer service too old fashioned? It's actually one of the reasons I kept coming back. Perhaps a little less socializing with each behind the counter and a little more focus on service. Would love to come back but not if this service is what to expect moving forward. If I can find another equidistant bagel shop, I will certainly go there from now on. read more

Constantly out of what I want. Cinnamon Raison or Pumpernickel should be standard. The bagels are a lot smaller than most places. The outage has happened most times there so they have lost a customer. Try Garden State on El Camino ... much better selection and bigger bagels. read more

I've been to a handful of other Einstein Bros locations and I'd say the food itself is pretty much always the same and it's pretty good. But this location had a very hard time understanding what we were ordering, even when we re-ordered. Plus the wait time for them to make our food was incredibly long; eventually the final bag of food, that thankfully was correct, was left behind the counter and forgotten to be given to us. On a better note because of the misunderstanding we were given a drink and a couple plain bagels with cream cheese for free. read more

I live close by and sometimes stop by on a weekend to grab breakfast. Most of the time service is below average. They either forget a part of my order or get it wrong or it takes forever to get it ready. When you do get your order though, the bagels are always fresh and priced reasonably. read more

This location is an absolute joke. After not being able to reach anyone on the phone even with 2 managers working, I drove down to the location to see birds picking at uneaten leftovers on the outdoor dining area, then waited 15 minutes in line to be told they are out of plain bagels 5 hours into their 10 hour store day. Whoever owns this store is obviously not taking care of their investment, as this is not the first time this has happened. To run out of your most popular item halfway through the day is no way to run a business. I'll take my business elsewhere to brueggers or a local bakery from now on. read more

The man behind the counter helping me, Graydon, was courteous and very personable. When I asked an older man, Chuck, if he was the mgr, he said no very abruptly. I wanted to tell him that Michaela and Greydon provided excellent customer service and delicious bagels. The food and most customer service is excellent but Chuck needs to take nice classes. If he is the "face" of Einstein's you are in trouble.I will only return if Chuck is not here. Through four transactions with other customers he didn't smile once. read more

I have no problem with the Einstein Brothers company in general, but after an experience yesterday, I will never go to this location again. Although I was not directly involved with the situation, I was witness to a situation that was handled poorly and made me lose respect for the management of this location. As I was eating my food, I noticed a customer had gone up to the counter to have his order fixed. I'm not sure what the problem was, but he was very courteous in his request. I couldn't hear the entire conversation, but I could see the "chef" giving the customer dirty looks and as the customer walked away, the older woman (I will assume she was the manager) called the customer an a-hole - this was loud enough for the customer's daughter to hear, as the manager was talking to the chef at this point. The customer's daughter told him what the manager said, so he approached the counter to confront her. The entire time, he stayed calm and rational and at this point, both the manager and the chef basically kicked him out. The customer refused to leave because he paid for his food and he either wanted his order or his money back (words were much louder this time; all customers couldn't help but hear). I saw the manager pick up the phone and that point, the customer & his daughter went outside. Things were quite for a few minutes and when I went to leave, the police where there questioning the customer. Since I was witness to what happened, I was happy to defend the customer, as were two other customers that were there at the same time. Needless to say, the way the restaurant handled the situation was disgusting and unnecessary. If they made a mistake on the order, they should have just fixed it & all would have been fine. I hope the corporate headquarters for Einstein Brothers is made aware of this situation & this restaurant is evaluated. I will never go to Encinitas again; I'd rather drive the few extra miles to Solana Beach & eat there, because they know how to treat their customers. read more

Buyer BEWARE ... this is a bagel store, not some bespoke meal creation place. BEWARE, you will wait as if you are waiting for the Last Supper. There are 8 employees behind the counter, including the very clueless manager (some tall dark haired man that only had his head down). There is NO communication between employees, there is no direction on who should be doing what and the wait times are horrendous. Again, this is a bagel store, nothing else. This is now the 15th or 16th time I've observed this and I am finally done - the towel is thrown in. I will drive the extra mileage to Garden State (which is fast fast service and better bagels) and I'll even go to the Solana Beach Einsteins but never will I come here again. Although this is a chain restaurant, I would rather spend my money here than Garden State Bagels. GSB is dirty and their bagels are dry. Einstein is consistent and they always prepare my order exactly how I order it. It was about 10am on a Saturday and I really just wanted a coffee but decided last minute to also get a bagel. The cashier was efficient enough, I suppose, but after I paid he said he'd call my name when my bagel was ready. Oh really? He didn't ask for my name so I don't know how exactly he was going to do that. It took him a beat or two before he finally said, "oh, I mean, we'll just call out your order." Then I got to get my coffee and see behind the line. It was atrocious. Like, really dirty and gross, with trash everywhere. Worst customer service EVER! If I could rate it zero, I would. Hungry, I decided to get a bagel. Went to order and asked to see if there were any SOFT bagels. She ignorantly said, "what? Salt? I don't understand" in an ignorant way. she said this many times. I have an accent. After many times, I explained to her what SOFT was. She says, "ugh potato". We then proceeded to ask her where the potato bagel was. She then said "ugh follow me". We proceeded to follow her. Looked at the bagel and said we wanted the onion bagel instead. We go back to the register and order our bagel. We then go sit and wait for the bagel. We waited at the table for what seemed about 10 mins. As we were waiting we saw people who were behind us getting their orders and leaving. Then I saw a bag next to the register that was sitting there. Mind you, they have NOT called our name. We decided to look in the bag and what a surprise, it was our order that was sitting there. We took it without no complaints. By the way, nobody even acknowledged us taking the order. What kind of service is this? Honestly will not be going back. Service like this should be corrected. I wouldn't be surprised if someone sues this company for being an ignorant racist. read more

Probably the worst experience at what's supposed to be a simple grab and go . I order a spinach bagel with orange juice, my girlfriend ordered a small coffee and an uncooked blueberry bagel. It took 15 minutes to get my order done. But worse, it took more than 15 minutes to get my girlfriends order. They forgot to give my girlfriend her coffee cup once at the register and again at the second register to pay. Then they forgot to give her her bagel... literally all they had to do was hand her the bagel in the basket. No toasting, or cutting. It was only when i questioned them about it did the half-stoned associate went, "you ordered another bagel? What was it?" Another thing, 5 people are on the floor and somehow they managed to be behind 6-7 orders (though i guess its understandable given the fact that 3 were teens that were either stoned, tired or just completely apathetic about the work). 7-8 people were waiting for single or double bagel orders for so long even the little 7 year old blond girl sitting next to use starting asking her mom, "whys my bagel taking so long?" Next time, i'll be patient and just buy my bagel at a better einstein place. read more

I call in an order at least once a week. Staff is very friendly and professional. They got some new people recently but they seem kind and professional. I do feel better however that they have one girl there who's been there super long time. I do like that. My order was always ready before getting there. I do like that sometimes they tell me what's in the oven and which bagels will be super hot and fresh out of the oven. 4 stars is for skimping on salmon whenever I order lox sandwich. I think it's overpriced considering how it's just thrown together, lack of capers too and sometimes tomato isn't even ripe. Disappointing. I am lox on bagel snob though, ones I make at home are beyond incredible. I guess I shouldn't complain and make them at home LOL. Additionally I am one of those faces who talks to staff and try to remember their name every time for next time. I try to have a tiny but memorable chat but seems workers here don't value that. That is sad. Actually I'm pretty upset that this is not an important part for their business, changing my rating to 3 stars.
