The food is fine but the staff is pretty bad. Grumpy teenage boy at the register. 4 total staff. The rest of the staff is slow moving & talking to one another with low regard for 29 minute wait on a Saturday morning for two toasted bagels. and the whole place is full of people at tables waiting for food. Time to figure out how to toast the bagels just a little bit faster and serve people with a little bit more enthusiasm. Maybe stop serving lattes and do perfect the bagel thing first. Seriously? Wait in line, and then find out there is no coffee available at the self serve coffee area. I was not happy. I tried to dispense the Vanilla Hazelnut first. Empty. Tried the Medium roast next-nothing. That's when another customer also attempted to dispense the vanilla hazelnut. He saw my frustration. The funny thing is he didn't seem to care. I'm not sure if he thought the coffee was just going to magically appear or not. I opened my mouth and told the staff that the coffee needed a refill. I'm just curious if that customer would've just stood there and not said anything or not. So the guy that originally took my order started to make more coffee and said it would be a few minutes. That's when I tried to dispense the dark roast as a last resort. Nope. Empty too, The only other coffee that was left was Decaf and that wasn't an option for me. At that point I was very frustrated and said out loud that this is ridiculous. The guy said I can refund your money. I said, please. I went to the register and received my money back for a large coffee. I'm not sure if I should be more pissed with the staff at Einstein for not checking the coffee levels or possibly the customers that failed to tell the staff that the coffee dispensers were empty!! I work with healthcare professionals that fail to replenish the last item of something and also don't alert the necessary people that an item is empty so it wouldn't surprise me one bit if a customer at Einstein just took the last drop and walked out. read more

I come here regularly and never have a problem. Customer service is always fantastic and the bagels are always fresh!!! If I walk in and see a line, I expect to wait to get my bagel as that is common sense. Weekends, same deal. I expect a wait relative to the line I see when walking in. Its not like the employees are standing around doing nothing. It's obvious they are moving as fast as they can and are working through all the orders as efficiently as possible...I'm also pretty shocked to read in another review where they say nose rings bother them, as if somehow that reviewers opinion affects the person it is directed to. Two stars have nothing to do with the quality of the bagels. But, the wait is unbelievable! This location is .5 miles from my house, yet, I will drive 6 miles to another one because of how long it takes to get bagels. And sis been this way for the last 5 years. I stepped in the door at 9:07 today, I'm still waiting and it's 9:33. All I ordered was 2 breakfast bagels. It's so crazy to think that this is this way. I went in close to 2:00 on Wednesday, May 24th get two bagels toasted with cream cheese, super easy order. I was greeted by a red head girl not with "hello" but instead she told us they were about to close and could only do take out orders. I told her that was fine and proceeded to order my two bagels. When I asked for them to be toasted she hesitated, looked back at the toaster (knowing she had already turned the toaster off) and then said ok we can do that. Our bagels were made quickly and when we got in the car we realized they were never toasted even when we made it clear we wanted them toasted. We would have gone back in to complain but by the time we realized, the same red head girl had already locked the doors to close the store 3 minutes earlier than closing time. All she needed to say was that she is unable to toast the bagels because it is too close to closing time and we would have not ordered. A little on the pricey side ($3.50 for a glass of OJ? It's damn good though) but you can't beat their bagels or their OJ. The OJ always tastes like it was made in the morning. The cream chesse just taste better than everywhere else. I'm not the biggest fan of chains (I'm not one of those people that looks down apon anything chain either) but Enstein might be the best breakfast after a real breakfast joint. It's hard to believe with nine people working behind the counter that they consistently cannot get even the simplest of orders correct. The Law of Diminishing Returns is on full display here. Order: Two toasted bagels with cream cheese and it took a couple attempts and a 25 minute wait....AND IT WAS STILL WRONG WHEN WE GOT HOME! This is not hyperbole! My 5 year old insisted we get bagels, so we went...again...and, again, we witness the same inept service. My tip of the day, if you like their bagels, is to buy the bagels at Costco and NEVER subject yourself to actually going in to this location. The shop was sold out of a majority of bagels and was telling everyone it would be a 40 minute wait for fresh ones unless we selected a bagel they had. We each ordered bagels that were in stock but then there was a huge delay in getting our bagel sandwiches where the staff continued to sell the bagels to people who did not want sandwiches, so when it came time for them to make ours, they were out. They did this over and over again and the entire store was frustrated. I had to change my bagel order several times for this reason. No one got what they wanted or ordered. Einstein's is pretty good. Though I must admit I have this sense of loyalty with Garden State Bagels because my work frequents them all the time. But what I really enjoy about Einstein's isn't their bagels per se (although the jalapeno bagel as one of their breakfast sandwiches is excellent), but I think they make good coffee. It's kinda weird, but why wouldn't they make good coffee? Seriously. Coffee and bagels go together. I think it's an important thought that's looked over. Try their coffee and let me know whether my palate hasn't gone nuts. LOL read more

Are you kidding? In a pattern that has been consistent, today I asked for a bagel with lox & cream cheese and specified, "everything but no onions." Don't waste you time coming here unless you want to wait forever and be treated horribly. This store is such an absolute disaster. I have never seen ANY business with worse employees. I keep trying to give this business the benefit of the doubt thinking I arrived on a bad day however they continue to lower to bar to shocking new depths each visit. My last order was online and after a 30 min delay I arrived to the store only to wait another 30 min. People were cancelling orders due extreme wait. One man was told that only one person was handling online orders and when the in store crowd was gone and only online order were waiting no one stepped in to help that employee finish and they did nothing while people continued to wait. When he asked if someone else could help fill his box of bagels he was told sorry that wasn't their job and he could wait. Another woman had waited 45 min for one bagel only to have her name called and be told Sorry we are out now. Today I thought It couldn't possibly be worse, especially when I arrived to an empty store. Someone took my order and then he left the floor. The employee who was making the bagels then saw a friend outside and left the store to go outside and talk for 10 + min. The original employee didn't step in and take over he just sat in the back and there were now NO employees out on the store floor for this 10 min while I sat there alone with no one making my order. Then the girl who had gone outside brought her friend inside and made him a box Of bagels to go for free and when she finished she went to the back to discuss with the other employee who would be working tomorrow. Another customer came In and the both came back out and she started finally on everyone's order. Dropped one of my Bagels in the trash and immediately looked over to see if I had seen it happen. Then another set of customers walked in and she turned around and just started talking to them and completely abandoned all food making ...again... 20 Min later I had to request my food and which point they finally got it finished... ( 2 Bagels with cream cheese) this is just so absurd that anyone with this kind of work ethic is even employed. Who ever owns this store should be horrified and embarrassed. HORRIBLE AND GROSS AND WRONG. Staff was rude and not washing hands after taking out trash, 4-item order took a half hour to receive and was incorrect, bakery was filthy and prep area was dirty. Staff had an attitude and did not apologize for their mistakes and threw our food away abruptly upon inquiry. They also did not refund the 20% tip. Extremely rude staff, all of whom disappeared to the kitchen for several minutes before coming back. Total wait time was over 30 minutes and it was not busy. I don't eat cheese and my father doesn't eat meat, both of which still came on our sandwiches despite explicit instructions to omit said toppings. When looking for a fast breakfast option, Einstein's is the best place to go! They offer a large variety of bagels, but best if you get there first thing in the morning. When they run out of a selection they don't replenish. I love their breakfast sandwiches, egg on a bagel, yes please! I do think it's odd you have to order at one register then walk 5feet down to pay at another register. It would much fast to do it all at one, it doesn't take that long for someone to pay. First timer here ! My gf and were really happy with the service, and friendly staff. Of course the food was good. We had the signature egg begal. The bega| consisted of egg, a turkey patty, Pepper jack cheese and cheese begal.The begal was soft and the patty was full of lavor and it came with some sort of salsa that required for me not add extra anything to the begal. As for the few that are complaining about no napkins given to them, they can find them on the counter right next to all the other stuff, just like in many other places. read more

I love Einstein Bagels. They are quick, they are inexpensive, and they taste so good. My favorite is the pretzel bagel but chances are they will be sold out which is always depressing. I haven't found another bagel shop yet that hd a good pretzel bagel. There's a place in San Marcos that has one but its coated with salt and not edible. This location is in a great area, right in the heart of a lot of great shops like barns and noble and target. It's practically on the corner of two main roads, next to gas stations and close to the freeway. The employees are very nice and the seating area is kept clean. They also offer free wifi if you enter your email. My only complaint is that they don't make enough pretzel bagels, they're obviously popular, make more!! read more
