Terrible customer service! I called in advance to ask if they had salt bagels in stock, the gentleman on the phone asked how many i was looking for, i told him 3-6. He said ok and i said i'd head over then. I got there 10 minutes later and the woman at the counter said no salt bagels and when i asked when they might be available she shrugged and said whenever they make them maybe a half hour or so. This was annoying but we did order 2 other dozen b/c we had guests. They could NOT speak English so we had to repeat each kind of bagel over and over and then walk to the window and point to the bin. The woman we ordered from was very rude and obviously didn't care at all if we were happy. The bagels themselves taste good and the schmear is excellent (which is why this is getting 2 stars instead of 1) but the prices are absurd. 2 dozens bagels with smear was $35!! read more

I fell in love with the Tasty turkey sandwhich after we had a company lunch catered by Einstein bros. So i just had to go back that weekend and get another or my cravings were not going to subside. Upon walking in I was in a hurry as it was a hot day and i had left my doggy waiting out in the car.. I accidently tried to order at the checkout and got the rudest look from the guy behind the register. There is an ordering line which i was unaware of. So anyways i walk up to the ordering line and order and tasty turkey and the lady stares at me... and i stare back... and she keeps staring.. and im getting really freaked out thinking i have made yet another brutal mistake before she finally says.."ON what bagel..??!" umm...it names the bagel it comes on onthe menu, thought that was standard, sorry lady. So she goes to make the two sandwhiches I ordered then calls me back over to ask me my side, which she forgot to do...(seee, everyone makes mistakes lady!) then calls me over AGAIN while she rummages through the chips calling each out. ( You work here everyday and you dont know the 4 kinds of chips you have??) So anyways, the sandwhiches are yummy but the staff..not so much. They are all pretty rude and have no idea whats going on. The only cute thing that did cheer me up was that they have doggy bagels to keep my dog busy on the ride home and offer an apology for waiting in the car for 20 minutes. read more

A situation arose today when two women tried to enter Einstein's with a dog. A man, who was a customer, approached the women and said that since it was not an officially marked service animal that they would have to take it outside since it was against the law. One of the women said that the animal was in training. The Einstein manager, on duty, told the women that they would not be served until they removed the dog. One woman took the dog outside. The other woman was very rude to the man and started screaming and throwing the finger. I applauded the man for doing what others should have done. read more

I go to this Einstein's almost every morning during the week, and the staff are great. They have learned my name and my order by heart, and they are always very friendly. The food is consistent, but the wait time has recently decreased--which is great! read more

This place needs a lesson in supply and demand economics. If you can't keep up with the demand, the public will take their demands elsewhere. At 11:45 on a Sunday morning, the bagel selection was very limited. Why would I go to a bagel specially shop that is out of my favorite on a weekend morning? On all menu items the sales approach seems to be, "while supplies last " at this Fairfax location. My issue is not knowing in advance when the supply will be depleted. In addition to not meeting customers' demands, the poor communication between the counter staff and the cashier has often resulted in not getting items I had paid for. If you don't verify your order prior to departure, shame on you. All in all, this place looks to be on the way to going out of business. Maybe bagel shops in NOVA are no longer a viable market. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Long lines, due to low staffing, all of our orders were wrong, even though we triple checked them with the cashier and it was correct on the ticket, and the place is just down right filthy. I have had three horrible experiences here, and thought third time is a charm, but I will never come back. Lost my business forever. Don't waste your time. read more

I have been here very often for breakfast as it is on my way to work and they have a good egg white/bagel thin sandwich that is a healthy choice for fast food. However, the last time I was there I realized how fed up I was with the terrible service. The line is incredibly slow and the ordering process is confusing (even to someone who has been coming here for five years). And while their Vanilla Hazelnut coffee is amazing, they seem to be out of it every time I come- and this is usually around 8am. I will probably continue going occasionally but I would not recommend going out of your way. read more

Went for a Sunday brunch. The service is painfully slow - lines were long and barely moving. Why is the cashier the one prepping my food also? They should go visit Panera and learn.... Store isn't as clean as could be, and price isn't that great considering the lack of service & how much their competitors charge. Really, I was just getting a simple bagle and coffee. How hard can it be? Food itself was ok. If you are absolutely hungry and don't want to drive to Panera or Cosi, this place is ok. But even if you had to go somewhere else to eat, you'd probably end up eating at about the same time due to the slow service here. read more

This place has bad service and took FOREVER. We came today with a large group of students and had a 15 minute time limit to go grab food and get back on the bus. My friend who was first in line never even ended up getting her bagel because they probably had forgot about it. She got a refund for it 30 MINUTES later. The man in line behind me was at the bagel counter and the cashier lady was yelling to him saying she was taking orders further down at her station and he was like yeah well I want bagels and she was like okay come down here and he was saying no I need to order a dozen bagels and finally after much frustration he said you know what forget it I've been waiting in line for like a half hour this is ridiculous and walked out of the store. I was last in line of my friends and the cashier couldn't comprehend that I wanted two iced coffees. She messed it up like 3 times and kept giving me three drinks instead of two. When she finally got it right we sat down waiting for our drinks because we had gotten our bagels already. The same girl at the cashier was the one who was supposed to make the coffee too. She never left her station to get up and make us coffee. I went to the one on Main street in Fairfax to clarify, they may not all suck. I ordered a plain bagel toasted with cream cheese and tomato which is what I have ordered everywhere else. The bagel was barely toasted,(which made it chewy) there was about 1 TEASPOON of cream cheese on it, usually bagel places put too much but not here! And the tomato, despite it being almost August and high season was the same white tasteless thing you get at the grocery store. I won't be back. read more

Went to Einstein's today. When we got there, there were only a few bagels left. We gave them our order and we just waited. We ended up waiting 30 minutes we also got two drinks with our food. We never got our food because it was taking to long so we went to get a refund the girl giving us a refund her name was jaelyn was telling us how we would still be charged for our drinks and we did not take a drink out of them she as very rude the customer behind us even said really you're going to charge them for the drinks too.? I love Einstein bagel, but this location seems to be poorly managed. Staff seem more concerned about when they get a break and discuss that openly in front of guests. The seating area is not the cleanest and the staff seemed flustered behind the counter. Perhaps There could be some training conducted because I'd hate to see the brand with a bad reputation. read more

This Einsteins is a train wreck. Their system does not work- it is slow and disorganized, and the people taking your order and making your food do not pay attention to the details of your order. They have to get their act together. Made a BLT and didn't even ask if I wanted Mayo. I was the only one inline and they still made me wait to order. I keep coming back and receive inconsistent service. They went through a stage where things were going better but that didn't last. Please get your act together. They don't include pickle strips unless you ask anymore and by the way that's free. Also very skimpy on the smoked salmon on a regular basis. May have to make Main Street bagel my new go to place they may be more expensive, but at least you get your moneys worth and they treat you like they are glad you came in. Stopped in today at Einstein brothers for the turkey cheddar melt. I think Einstein brothers makes the best bagel sandwiches but I don't care for their bagels outside of a sandwich. The line was extremely long partly due to the amount of people wanting to eat their and not enough employees working. The last few times I've been to this location there has been nobody in line so today was a shock with the line was out the door. I ordered the turkey cheddar melt on a honey wheat bagel with baked chips as my side. The bagel sandwich was good but the cheddar didn't have the usually tang and was a bit mild today. The pumpkin muffin with icing and the pumpkin crunch bagel looked really good. The only negative I have about Einstein Brothers is they are a little pricey and there are many other delis around the area with better bagels. read more

The food is good, they cook eggs for brunch in front of you, but the service was a little bit of an issue, the person seemed to be in a rush, and when I was gonna pay they didn't even kept track of what I ordered, one of the bagels was still not ready and they confused my order. Their bagels are fresh but they are not boiled and you can taste the difference. Their bagels taste more like regular bread--doesn't have the chewy texture of a New York bagel. Then again, many bagels places in the region are subpar. If you want a real New York style bagel, go to John's Bagel Bakery in Centerville. It's a hole-in-the-wall place run by a family and they do a nice job with their bagels--and they boil them. You can taste the difference. They don't have as wide a variety, but they are excellent! If you come there at noon on a Sunday, do not expect to find sesame bagels, pumpernickel bagels, or plain chips. They only stock up with chips that no one wants to eat and leave the plain chips in the back, only pulling out a handful begrudgingly if people ask. They do not cross out menu items if they run out of supplies, and they always run out of supplies. If you want it, you don't get it. It used to be so much better back in its heyday, but now it's staffed by a manager and employees who could care less about customers and are just trying to pay their bills. Einstein Bros Bagels is not bad, just this location. If you want a better Einstein Bros Bagels experience, even the smaller one in Alexandria is far better than this one. read more

Ick. It was dirty. I watched one guy wipe down a counter and oops, knock a cloth in the trash. Oh and then pull it out of the trash and put it on the newly pied counter. Ick. They also didn't know what they were doing. They didn't know what kind of bagels they had cut open on the counter. I got a lot of time to watch because of how slowly they worked. This store is not worth the frustration on a Sunday morning. My second time and it may be the last. Waiting time is horrible and they never get my order right. I feel employees are not as friendly as they should be. While I was waiting it became obvious that this is a management issue. Employees are not trained properly and some look dirty too. One of them kept pulling his pants up and after touching his pants he would touch people's food. The location is good but not worth it. read more

Used to be amazing service just a couple months ago. Every time I come in since they're not paying attention to the customers lined up. They also apparently switched up their menu? At least that's how it was explained to me. They no longer provide some of the spreads they previously did, and when I asked why they said they didn't know and didn't provide any close alternatives. I haven't been here in awhile so decided to stop in for a bagel and a shmear around 8:15 am on a Monday morning. The bagel was great..very fresh and tasty. The cream cheese shmear was chintzy but tasty. The thing that will keep me from returning is the very rude cashier. He asked what I ordered and I told him "a bagel and a shmear". He replied, impatiently "What KIND of bagel?" I answered, he told me how much, I handed him the money and he SNATCHED it out of my hand and dumped the change in my hand. Whoa. I couldn't believe it.
