While we usually patronize (via Uber Eats) the Einstein Bagels on Kercheval Ave. when visiting my mother in law who owns an estate in Grosse Pointe Shores, MI, there was an electrical problem at the Kercheval location on the day we were there, so we placed a large (Uber Eats) order at the Einstein Bagels on Mack Ave instead. Upon calling the store to clairfy/confirm details of our order, the female phone rep. was very short, sounded agitated (like she wanted to get off the phone ASAP), as I confirmed details of our large order- in summary this associate, blatantly/intentionally ignored everything I said and the bulk of our order was incomplete/missing! Upon calling the store to request to speak to the manager, a different (Af. American) female rep. answered and upon asking to speak to the manager, I hear her blatantly mocking me saying out loud in a cartoon character like voice "TOMmmmy, a customer is asking to speak to you!!!) all while laughing. SMH After talking with Tom who (initially) seemed civil, professional and willing to help, Tom advised me to tell Uber Eats that "order never arrived!!!!!!!!!" UNBELIEVABLE, I will NEVER order from a store where the manager encourages being dishonest!!! I simply called Uber Eats immediately afterwards, and told them exactly that MANAGER TOM told me to tell them while explaining that what he was telling me to tell them was NOT TRUE, as the STORE was at fault for our incomplete order (and NOT Uber Eats) and they went ahead and gave us a full refund + $20 credit for the inconvenience, while also THANKING me and taking note of the less than impressive (and highly DISHONEST) advice that manager Tom had given us. Not really sure how high up the totem pole 'manager Tom' actually is, but if he's the one making the hiring decisions of these several unfriendly/non-helpful associates working at his Grosse Pointe Woods EINSTEIN BAGELS store on Mack Ave., then it all makes perfect sense.....SMH! read more

Horrible, employees horrible customer service if you don't wanna be at work, don't show up maybe the manager the very heavyset gentleman should get up and do something besides sitting at a table during the middle of a rush, obviously reading the reviews. This is a consistent problem with this location. Never will go back.!!! read more

However, my recent experience was extremely disappointing and needs to be shared. While attempting to order a bagel sandwich this morning, I was ignored by no fewer than four employees stationed at different areas of the counter. I stood unacknowledged for an uncomfortably long time until one staff member, wearing a face mask, finally addressed me. Unfortunately, her first words were mumbled and unclear. When I politely responded with "Pardon me?" she abruptly and rudely shouted, "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" I tried to proceed with my order, only to be met with continued rudeness. Before heading to the cashier--who also ignored me initially--I asked the original staff member if I had somehow interrupted her, as her tone and behavior clearly suggested that I had. She offered no apology or professionalism in response. It's disheartening to encounter this level of disrespect, especially when it seems to only occur in the absence of management. There's a noticeable difference in the way customers are treated depending on who's supervising. While I will likely continue to visit due to the convenience and the quality of the food, customers and ownership alike should be aware: the service here can drastically shift from courteous to outright rude depending on who is working and whether they're being held accountable. read more

Customer acknowledgement and wait 6-7 minutes when there are only 2 employees (gossiping) and 1 other customer. As a Facilities Manager, I easily recognized what needed attention from the glass case, floors, counters, and lighting. The case is filled with crumbs, crumbs stuck between glass, foggy with hand smudges. The counter/coffee station needs replacing, the floors needs sweeping along with a water hose, and finally the lighting, needs to be brighter and flooring and walls need painted brighter. This store needs a REFRESH for sure. If I were the store manager, I'd close early and have vendors address all of the above. read more

I bought a dozen bagels to bring to the office and I asked if I got cream cheese and they told me yes. When I got to the office and opened the box there was no cream cheese, no cutlery, no napkins. I called and complained they said next time I am in I could pick up my cream cheese. I told them all my coworkers were disappointed and I want a new dozen tomorrow along with cream cheese, cutlery and napkins. They said ok. When I went back the next day they gave me a new dozen and some attitude. Throughout the experience no one ever uttered the word SORRY. I will never go back and I suggest you avoid this bagel store too. More than disappointing. read more

i've been going here for years and every time i go it gets worse and worse. All the staff is disrespectful and looks like they don't even want to be there. The last time I had placed an online order because I didn't want to interact with the staff and I come in and a lady with blonde hair was screaming at me asking if I placed an door dash which I didn't so I didn't respond to her and then kept asking and I was like no I have an online order and she was like well, we're out of the one fucking bagel I ordered and' she asked me to pick out another bagel and I ask for plain they didn't have it. I asked for raisin they didn't have it. I got the jalapeño bagel thinking oh this might be good if the jalapeños are mixed with the batter but no, there were seven raw slimy ass jalapeños on my bagel in the middle of it and the juice was dripping down the whole bagel it was gross. I just don't understand going in there at 9 o'clock on a Sunday when they close at two the fact that they have no bagels, restocked, or in the making or anything when they have orders and then they have a limited menu. It wasn't even busy in there. There were literally two other people in line, I am so disappointed. I and I haven't gone back in about a month and I go today and my bagel was hard as a rock . This place is consistently inconsistent. The 2 stars reflect today's experience. Chai tea latte was super think and all syrup- like it needed to be chewed. So gross. And the teeniest amount of cream cheese on the bagel, as if they were down to the last bit and didn't want to open a new container. Will go to Eastside Bagels for a consistently good experience. read more

There was literally nothing out and a 12 to 20 minute wait for even plain bagels. Poor management across the board. The place is busy but you keep the product coming! I love Einstein's! Unfortunately, this is definitely not my favorite location. The food is always good and the place is relatively clean but it's not very professional. The workers are always loud, talking to each other, are incompetent and forgetful, and don't really have great manners, etc. The way this specific Einstein's is designed isn't really great either. It's very dimly lit and the set up of it is not that great. It's definitely not as good as the experiences that I have at other locations. I still come here from time to time because it's the closest Einstein to my house. I definitely prefer going to the one on Kercheval, though. read more

Standard Einstein fare. The service is hit and miss. This morning I came in with a friend and we must have been invisible as no one wanted to help us. Finally a nice male helped my friend and the young girl next to him slipped me and decided to help the man behind us instead. This is not the first time it has happened. Went in for lunch today. I ordered a toasted bagel with peanut butter. The peanut butter is $0.60 more- ok. The man who was helping me put on the lightest coat of peanut butter. I wanted to tell him to put a little more on, but I didn't want to be rude. I could hardly even taste it! So, I got about a nickel's worth of peanut butter. Updating a previous review on this location. The manager called-explained his policy-offered an apology and a cup of coffee & a bagel on the house. Not expecting anything free but I appreciate the gesture. I did go back a few times and the staff is completely different. The message was received! I even had one person offer to make a fresh pot of coffee for me. Of course I said no need but wow-the offer and thought was really appreciated. Hit or miss some times the bagels are hard. other times so fresh they are still warm when you cut them. Maybe its just me but I am the on the go person or have a kid in my arm most of the time and not into waiting around for my coffee or food. so don't go in expecting to be in and out quick because they do take longer than comparable businesses. read more

I would give this a five star if it wasn't for one single female employee.... She NEVER smiles and acts like she hates working there. She is very rude and not friendly at all. The servers here are very rude. My sister is vegan, meaning she can't eat dairy. When she asked if a bagel had dairy in it, the lady just stared at us and said "I have no idea." She didn't even offer to check. When we kindly asked if she could check, she asked the other employee who told us that they all had dairy in them. We had checked online and knew for a fact that the plain bagel and a few others did not have dairy products in them. The owner should be aware that he/she almost lost business due to these employees. Also we ordered a bagel with banana on it and they put about four tiny slices of banana. When we asked for more banana, they then proceeded to put the overload it with banana, which was obviously not necessary, we just wanted the bagel to have a normal amount of banana. All in all, we felt pretty uncomfortable and upset by the employees' rudeness. read more

At least three times my order was wrong -- and all I ordered was a bagel with cream cheese. Either they forget to toast it, or they give me the wrong bagel, or they forget the cream cheese.
