I was drawn to this establishment because the rating isn't half bad and its Yelp page features an announcement that their new online ordering is "Your best breakfast in a click". What a joke. My online ordering experience today was a huge disappointment... and no real beef with the delivery guy (GrubHub) except he could have looked inside the bag to notice that the condiments listed on my order instructions were missing. I specifically requested but received no creamers, sugar, ketchup and cutlery. Not only did they miss the mark in that way, but judging by the taste of what food I did receive, I would have been better off ordering a McDonald's breakfast. The cherry on top is that the main breakfast item was entirely different from what was described in the menu on their website. Let's start there: my "Bagelrito" was supposed to be a filled breakfast burrito encased in an Asiago bagel - which I assume gets rolled super flat (based on the picture featured on the menu). However, there was nothing bagel-like or Asiago-like about the overly chewy bagelrito prepared for me. But I was hungry because by this time I had not yet eaten; it was 11:15am. It took two bites, and my hunger turned hangry because I was unable get pass the high sodium level. My tongue was stinging from all the salt. I had to throw it away or else face a bout with high blood pressure. I won't go into much detail about the other items I ordered (a bland hash brown cheesy thing that I threw out and a chewy half-eaten avocado toast), but just know that I was underwhelmed. I guess the silver lining would be that my earl grey tea was very good - despite the fact I had no sweetener. I attempted to call the restaurant twice between 11:30 am and 11:45 am to rectify the order, but no one answered and the answering service gives no option to leave a voicemail. I hope the business owner reads this review and takes steps to improve experiences for future customers. But I would not visit this establishment on my next visit to the Chi area. read more

This is an update to a review already given. They did respond and apologized for the poor service and they said they'd look into it and asked to update my review and here it is. NO CHANGE! They still refuse to answer their phone making it impossible to place a custom norder or to check on availability. Store manager clearly doesn't care and management is too busy to see anything through as they promised. read more

Over the last year I've ordered bagels for breakfast here about twice a month. And without fail, they never get my order right. From putting the wrong schmear on the wrong bagel to completely forgetting items. Every time I say I will give them one more chance because it's owned by a single owner and I like to support my local businesses. However, today was the last time for me. I will drive to the one further going forward. Over the last year whenever I would go inside to order I would be in the store for at least 30 minutes just to get a bagel and cream cheese. So I started ordering it online and picking it up. Of course I check it before leaving since I know they are notorious for not getting it correct. Each time I asked them to correct their mistakes I get a complete attitude from the kids who work there, especially the owners daughter. As if I'm being completely out of line for asking them to give me the correct order. Now today when I told the owner to please call me if they are out of something or need to replace it and he told me absolutely not, they don't have time to call every time they're out of a bagel so we get what they give us and that's their policy. Sorry but nobody in my family eats wheat bagels so why the hell would I pay for it just because you never have enough bagels on a Sunday????? Never again. read more

I signed up for the app and got a free bagel with shmear. So I ordered ot today. I ordered a chocolate chip bagel for myself with plain shmear, an everything bagel with plain shmear for my boyfriend and 2 caramel cold brew coffees. They got my bagel wrong, instead of chocolate chip, they gave me cinnamon sugar. But the coffees were very good and the place was very clean and cute on the inside. I just moved to Lincolnshire, hoping to find a new bagel spot. I will never return to this Einstein bagel. This place is filthy. We intended to eat in but could not find a clean table. I then walked to grab a napkin, and the coffee area was sticky with dried smear marks on the napkin holders. The floors were completely covered in dust and crumbs. There were even fingerprints all over the glass. How can I trust that they maintain cleanliness behind the counter if they barely pay attention to the dining area? Newly tried this location after our closer one closed down. Food was well prepared BUT they didn't deliver it curbside. It's an option in the app that I had selected. When I got there, not busy, only 1-2 other customers inside, but no one brought out the order. The app didn't have a check in option bc I ordered as a guest, but I'm literally parked in front of their window for 10 min at the signage. I also tried calling multiple times, but no one picked up. Taking it out would've taken them no more than 30 seconds. That said, the food was still good and that's what matters most. I just don't know what to say I have been coming here for many years but the service is just atrocious. You get no smile or any kind of civility. The workers are very hostile and exhibit passive aggressive behavior. When you do get served the incompetence is startling, I had to explain to a staff member what a bakers dozen is!!! You have got to be kidding me. The last two managers are long gone and they were nice. Even if you are the only customer in the store it seems like they really could not be bothered to serve you. Great selection of Fresh Bagels. For a national chain they are the closest to authentic bagels. Of course NY Bagels & Bialeys original locations are the best. But Einsteins are very good. I gave today this place a third try and was extremely for the third time dissapointed by the service , for the first few times I said ok maybe everyone's just having a bad day but after reading reviews , I'm not the only one . The kids were horsing around and not acting professional as you should (yelling at each other , sticking out their tounges and spitting on food ! ) . The one star is for the only positive person we encountered, Chris. We ordered bagels on Thursday 9/24/20 by phone for pick up at 12:30 pm on Monday 9/28/20. When we got to the store, we were told they did not have our order but it would be ready in 45 minutes. Chris was very nice and took care of the situation. I waited in the store, which was not busy at the time. Unfortunately, when we went to serve the bagels at 5:30, we noticed the bagels were very inconsistent. Some of the bagels were not proofed enough and did not even have a hole in the middle; some were undercooked; the asiago bagels were under-cheesed, etc. We called today (9/29/20) and the person who answered the phone (and said he was a manager), Oscar, yelled at us on the phone and defended his store by saying the following: 1. The bagels are not constant based on who is making them 2. We never have any problems (very arrogant) 3. You are trying to get something for free 4. Your bagels were here the entire time (why would I have been told to wait 45 minutes for the bagels, if this were true) Oscar was very confrontational and rude. I am sure this is not the way you want your store or products portrayed. I am especially insulted that he would accuse us of trying to get something for free and, quite frankly, will let everyone I know how BAD the experience was. BTW, I had recommended you to a friend, who also ordered ahead of time, but was missing 4 bagels. She ordered 13 and got 9. With so many people out of work, it may behoove your company to replace Oscar with someone that really wants a job and knows how to deal with the public. read more
