But I was there to witness how they handled the rush and that's where my issue lies. Instead of maybe handling the one to three people standing around waiting for their orders, they decided to make two large pick up orders that weren't there waiting and anyone who walked in got served immediately. I had to ask twice about my order and there was no apologies, reassurance, or sense of urgency. Second time I asked the girl said "it's right here" pointing to a sub that was half made sitting on the counter there for some reason. When the girl finally made my sandwich, she clearly didn't read the special instructions because she made my sandwich wrong. When you have to eat gluten free, sandwich shops are the last place you want to go. But we had heard that Jersey Mike's does a great job for Celiac so we popped on over and wasn't disappointed! This location has a completely separate area for allergies and Celiac. They had individually packaged gf sub rolls. And when I brought up Celiac, they instantly knew what to do. I went to the Vernon Hills location last night about 10 min before "closing time". I walk in and the two ladies working ask me if I was going to order. Clearly hoping to not make any more sandwiches. And they pretty much make me feel really bad for ordering so late. They even said yeah it's 4 minutes to closing time so yea. It was closer to 10 but anyway it was super disappointing to pretty much get denied service during open hours when I have had only great experiences with the staff at this location before. The food was very good. My complaint is the tip request at checkout. In a sit down restaurant I tip generously. This however, is fast food. After paying $15.00 for a sandwich, chips and a drink, I'm not tipping. This is the same level of service as McDonalds. The tip screen doesn't have an option for no tip, instead it kept directing me to "other". For whatever reason 0.00 wasn't accepted. In order to checkout, ( I was in a hurry ), I had to tip the minimum, which was an additional $1.49. I won't be going back, To me it's a dishonest way to gouge customers. read more

Better than I remember. A 3.5 star for sure. This time around I visited with a co-worker that has eaten here a great many times. He insisted I try a warm sub. I had some kind of chipotle steak and cheese which was excellent. I went for the regular size; their large or king size is obnoxiously huge and would've left me comatose the rest of the afternoon. If it's your first time, I too recommend a warm sub since the cold ones are nothing special. The weekday afternoon was busier with male clientele. No clue why there are more dudes.. cause it's subs? I needed to place an order for the staff at work, 26 sandwiches and chips. I called a day in advance and spoke to Lucas, the manager. He was great, very friendly, helpful and courteous. I placed the order online and there were 3 sandwiches that were not listed as options online. So, I called back, he took the order and added them to my lunch order for the next day. I told him I would be there at 11 am the next day to pick them up. I called at 10 am to confirm the order, spoke with a very friendly young man who said yes, they were getting ready to start them. The reason for the 3 star review instead of a 5 star review, the owner, who did not give me his name, was not pleasant. When I arrived I checked the order and noticed I had 6 bags of chips, not 26. From the other side of the counter the owner yelled out: you didn't pay for 26 bags of chips. Oh, yes I did and I have the printed online receipt to prove it. He said: I have your receipt right here. He brought it to me, sure enough, at the bottom of the receipt were listings for various bags of flavors of chips, 26 bags total. Did he apologize for being rude and making a stink about it? No, he did not. Did he introduce himself to me when I said, hello, I'm Dawn, no, he did not, just said he is the owner. He then proceeded to tell me he was upset that Lucas accepted the order because it was "too big" Apparently, this guy didn't want my $350.00 lunch order that was presented a day in advance. Either someone was playing a cruel joke on me or this was one of the worst sandwich experiences of my entire life. I am literally typing as fast as I can so I can finish this review before my brain systematically erases this place from my memory to prevent scarring. Everything started out innocently enough - the development is new and was in my path of errands, the people inside were nice, and it is not named "Potbelly's." The problems arose once my sister and I had ordered. Looking back on it, we should have suspected something - the camera lens zoomed out, everyone around us grew quiet, and eerie music started to play. Ok, that did not happen, but it should have. I ordered the philly cheese steak and my sister ordered the famous roast beef and provolone. After just a few bites, I could barely stand to eat any more. Nothing tasted up to any kind of standard. I like quick and easy sandwiches (especially cheese steaks) as much as the next guy, but this just was not going to cut it. So I coyly offered to switch sandwiches with my sister, since she did not notice the wincing face I had. Thinking I was getting the better end of the trade and a chance to start over, we completed the transaction. If it is possible, the "Famous" roast beef was even worse than the cheese steak. After a few bites of our new, but still terrible, sandwiches, the conversation started. "Ok, so I wanted to trade because mine was terrible," she says. That's how you can tell we are related, we both tried pulling the same trick. After another forced bite or two, we decided to cut our losses, chuck the bad sandwiches, and grab a snack later. 0 for 2 on the same trip, and all I was expecting was "better than Subway." I heard about this restaurant on the Travel Channel when they were doing a special on Sandwich Paradises. Their subs received alot of praise by alot of people on that show so I figured I'd check it out. I'm surprised that only one review has been written so far. The service was very friendly & attentive to whatever you asked for. I ordered the Chipotle Cheese Steak and got my brother the Buffalo Chicken wrap. We shared both orders so we could a taste of each. The Chipotle Cheese Steak sandwich was superb... the sauce was surprisingly rich and a little sweet. I expected it to be spicy considering it has chipotles in it. The veggies and toppings they added to it (and added lots of it) were very fresh and crisp. Overall, very impressed with the sandwich. I tried my brother's Buffalo Chicken Wrap which definitely packed some heat due to the buffalo sauce. The sauce wasn't overwhelming as I could taste the chicken... which was cooked perfectly. Very rich and moist. The tortilla was also tasty with a nice texture. Jersey Mike's was pleasantly tasty with very fresh meat and toppings. I only give it 4 stars as the prices for these subs were moderately expensive ($6.00+ for a regular 6-inch sub). If they could lower the prices a bit, they could seriously compete with Subway and Jimmy Johns. read more

I've known of Jersey Mikes for years. In fact, I contemplated buying into this franchise a couple years ago. What's funny is, I have never even eaten at a Jersey Mikes until a few months ago. Now that I'm in the 'burbs, and surrounded by a plethora of chain restaurants, Jersey Mikes (in my opinion) is the best of these sort of sub shops. Here's why Jersey Mikes has the best subs: 1. The sizes are larger than the competition (i.e., Subway, Jimmy Johns, etc.) 2. The food is fresher 3. The food simply tastes better Now with "foodflation" upon us, it's common these days to pay $7-$8 for a sub, drink & chips. Even at a crappy Subway, you'll pay these prices. So, my argument is- why eat at a crappy Subway or Jimmy Johns, if you can spend maybe $.50-$1 more, and actually get a larger sandwich, which truly does taste better. A no brainer, right? Fresh food, fast friendly service, and the normal pricing for this type of sub joint. I'm hooked, and will continue to eat here once, or possibly twice a week. read more

Jersey Mikes supplied a Box of Subs (24 total) for a party we gave yesterday. This is actually 4 different large subs, each cut into 6. Everyone took at least 2 subs and were not stuck with just one king to try. The presentation is as good as the subs and that is awesome. Many comments and compliments from our guests. Mikes subs, homemade potato salad and green salad made an easy meal to serve. The staff at Jersey Mikes are very friendly and easy to work with. Price was totally reasonable. This review is solely for the attitude of the staff at this location. I was at this location the other day, and there were at least five people "working." NO ONE greeted me upon entering, and one employee was actually leaning back against the back counter with her arms crossed over her chest (could she have appeared any more bored?). The only person to speak to me was the person who was ready to take my order, and all he said was, "Let me know when you're ready." Not hello, not welcome to Jersey Mike's. After placing my order and waiting to be asked what I wanted on the sub, the girl at the register punched in my order like she couldn't wait to get me out of the store. Then she had to re-ring me up when I asked for bacon on my sandwich ( which is why it pays to WAIT for the customer to actually be finished ordering, and even a "Will there be anything else?" go a long way). After she said, "Have a nice day," I asked for a receipt, and she repeated, "Have a nice day." I asked for a receipt again, and she said even louder, have a nice day. I finally eventually got through to her that I wanted a receipt, and THEN I left. I will never go back to this location. There are other Jersey Mike's with nicer, friendlier staff who deserve my patronage. This location is not one of them, and the good sandwiches are not worth putting up with their attitude. read more

This is by far the BEST sub place ever! Upon walking in, the employees greet you as if you are an old friend even if you've never been here before. They don't seem fake about it either is the thing. I always go with my favorite the #9 turkey, roast beef, bacon & provolone... To die for! The meat & cheese is hand sliced as you order the sandwich. Some say this place is expensive. It's $10 & some change for a regular sub, chips & a drink. Not that bad... The regular sub is super filling & I have an appetite. Chips always come home for another day. You are paying for the freshness of hand sliced meats and cheeses to order. This is NOT the slimy subway cold cuts! I, too, saw this place on the Sandwich Paradise show and the subs looked oh-so-good! A coworker happened to stop there one day as well and said we HAD to try it. She said the Philly Cheesesteak subs were out of this world and were exactly like back East (where she's from, but she had never been to a JM's). So, one day we stopped in expecting the best sandwiches ever, but were slightly disappointed. For starters, the place was spotless and the service was excellent - so I'll give them that. The sandwiches were just so-so. I had the Italian sub, my husband had the Chipotle Cheesesteak (called the Big Kahuna I believe) and my kid had the meatball sub. Hubby thought his sandwich was good but did not live up to the hype. The meatball sub was good, but again, I've tasted better, tasted worse. The Italian was probably a little better than average, but again, not outstanding. Overall I thought the food was good, not great. Surprisingly I am not much of a sandwich person. However, you would not be able to tell that according to my last few lunch places. I stopped in here the other day and I was very pleasantly surprised. It is one of the very few places I have been that they slice the meat and cheese when you order.
